Locking in new font size in mail..maybe also safari???

Hello, i got my macbook pro on this recent friday. In mail in menu bar, is a font drop down, and I set it to 18 but it changes nothing. However I found that clicking the A on a particular email allows me to alter the font I am typing. I does nothing to change incoming emails' fonts, and worst of all, EACH email must be adjusted.
I am hoping that a master of computerdom would know how to make the incoming email fonts larger and how to permanentize to multiple emails I write the larger font size, so I can be more expedient AND see what I am typing...
Thanks so much. C

  • Change font size in mail

How can you change the the font size in mail when not using the "(classic) style, particularly the column that lists all your emails (2nd column).

    Change color:  No
Change font size:  In the App, No
But you can change the font size for everything in iPad:  Settings > General > Text Size use slider to increase or decrease text size.

  • How to set minimum font size in mail app?

How can I set a minimum font size in mail app? I have received mails that have a font size that seems to be smaller than 9pt which results being nearly unreadable. Sure its possible to increase the font size by pressing cmd + "+" but this setting isn't remembered for the next time I open these mails. Prior to Mavericks there was a solution to write the minimum font size to the defaults. Anything similar for Yosemite?

No, this only applies to the font size for the header displayed above the mail content and the font type and size of the Rich Text mails your are composing. With this setting you cannot modify the font size or type of received messages.

  • How can I decrease my font size in mail?  I have it set to small and yet it is enormous, letters running into one another.  I have rebooted and more.  Something is over riding my setting.  Any suggestions?

You haven't mentioned which mail it is,
If it is G-mail go to settings --> general tab--> default text style , you can change your font size & then save at the bottom of the page

  • HOW DO I LOCK A LARGER FONT SIZE IN EMAIL

    Hi
Can anyone advise how I can lock in a larger Font Size when I am composing an email.
It comes up as normal size as standard and I can change size manualy but wondered if I can lock in a bigger size ?.
    Many thanks

Hi, I don't believe that you can. It always defaulst to Tahoma/Normal. Every time that you want to compose a reply you have to manually select the font and font size of your choice.
I've posted something along these same lines some time back and there was no positive answer provided and no response from BT to enable this to be a configurable setting.
BT supports response back to me with regards to problems with the new email service was that 'because it's a free service we are not obliged to fix any problems with it'.

  • The font size in mail on my iPhone changed with OS 7.1.1

My iPhone 5 recently went to OS7.1.1.  I don't know what happened but the size of the text in my received emails just got smaller to the point of where I can hardly read them.
How do I change this or how to I go back to the previous version?

Thank you but I got that figured out. The issues is in that the text from incoming Emails are so small  it is difficult to read. If you increase the font size using what you suggested, incoming is easier to read but when you compose a new email it is like getting far fewer words on the screen because the text is so large.
Something changed in the new version of the operating system!

I think this is because some people send email in HTML or Rich Text, and they control the fonts and sizing.  iOS will only show the large font if the messages are sent in Plain Text.

  • How do I set up minimum font size for mail messages in iPod touch 5G?

According to the iPod touch User Guide for iOS 6:
Set the minimum mail message font size: Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Minimum Font Size
But in "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars" I don't see the "Minimum Font Size" option.
    Thank you in advance!

Look under Settings > General > Accessibility > Large Text

  • Need Help Changing Font Size on Mail Program

    OS X 10.8.3
My mail list under "sort by date" column has a small font which I would like to make bigger.
I have gone to Mail>Preferences> Fonts & Colors but none of those cseem to change the font in the second mail column under (Sort by date).

There generally is no way to change the font, or font size. TinkerTool is one of a few utilities that will allow the change of some items, but for the most part, the OS ignores any settings you use in TinkerTool.
The default font for the system is Lucida Grande. You absolutely cannot change it. If you delete the font from the System folder, the OS will immediately replace it with a copy from a deeply hidden location. If you delete the font from both locations, the Mac will instantly become completely unusable, requiring a reinstall of the OS from your OS X installation disks. Unless you have another drive with OS X on it so you can copy Lucida Grande back to the drive you removed it from.
About the only easy way to increase the font size overall is to select a lower resolution in the Displays section of the System Preferences.

  • Is there a way to make the font larger in the Messages app without changing the font size in Mail, Constacts, Calendars, and Notes?

Is there a way to increase the font size in the texting app, Messages, in IOS 8 without making the font larger in Contacts, Mail, Calendar or Notes?
I just want to increase the font size in Messages, and no where else.

No I do not believe there is

  • How to increase the font size inside Mail.app

    Mail essentially has two panels:
    - a left panel showing the header and first couple of lines of incoming emails;
    - a right panel showing the contents of an email that has been selected in the left panel.
Using Mail's preferences, I was able to increase the font size of the header information of emails in the right panel.
However, I was unable to find a way to increase the font size for messages in the left panel or for the contents of an email in the right panel.
Is this possible? If so, how can this be done?
    Thank you.

You can't for incoming emails. When viewing an email the ⌘+ key combination will increase the font in the viewed email incrementally.
Or you can do it thru this menu option:

  • Is there a way to auto increase font size in Mail?

Some mail I receive uses a tiny font size.  I click "Command plus" to increase the font on these.  Is there a way to have Mail automatically increase any font size that is below a certain size?

    Hello 4thSpace,
Have you tried increasing the fond size in the preferences?
Mail menu > Preferences > Fonts & Colors.
Play around with the 'Message font' and 'Fixed-width font' settings. If changes do not seem to be taking effect, restart mail after every change (you shouldn't have to).

  • How do I lock in a font size for all viewing

I created a website that looked great on my laptop, my house desktop, my Blackberry and even my Kindle. But the guy that I made it for has his internet browsers set at font size 18 so it looks horrible. I didn't realize that my computers are all set at 14.  I'm assuming that my phone and Kindle are set at 14 as well since everything lined up right. So I went back and set my internet browser at 18 and redid the pages to match.
My question is how do I create pages with universal size fonts so that this doesn't happen and so that I don't have to change my font sizes everytime I work on this particular site?  It looks so tiny when I change back to 14!

One issue to clear up might be the redundant styling of text through CSS and through HTML. If you are defining size in CSS, there is little need to also define a -1 font size in the HTML.
You might experiment with alternate measures of font size in the CSS. There is more than just 'px'.
