In SAP you can set teh block indicator when creating the PID in MI31.
Organisational blocking is much tougher and case specific. To give you a recommendation you would have to describe your situation in more detail

Today I've closed a storage location belonging to a plant which has many other SL.
To avoid further posting on it, Is it possible to lock it using a way different than authorizations (too many time will be required !!!!)

Storage Location Mapping.

Hi SAP guru,
My client, in legacy system is maintaining the stores as WM modelu2026. (I.e. Racks and Bins), for identifying the items in the stores.
But WM is not in the scope of implementation.
He is having one big central stores and he wants to maintain as it is.
1.My suggestion is, items can be stores together for all plants (4plants)in central stores and each plant is logical storage location identified in the main stores.
For exampleu2026. Item A --- 100nos.
Plant u2013x u2026. SL-01 u2013 50nos.
Plant- y u2026 SL-05 u201320Nos.
Plant u2013Z u2026. SL-01 u2013 50nos.
Total 100Nos. stored together... GI will happened for plant and storage location.
2. But they want to approach to Bin level identification. And client is suggesting that create storage location as one bin.
If we create like thatu2026. Then no of storage location goes up to 5000+ per plant.
Is this advisable?
Please give me some ideas how to sort out this issue.

Hi Anand,
Because of your business need, if you need a storage location, you can create and will not have any conflict with standard settings.
Just to give description of storage location, A storage location has the following attributes:
There may be one or more storage locations within a plant.
A storage location has a description and at least one address.
It is possible to store material data specific to a storage location.
Stocks are managed only on a quantity basis and not on a value basis at storage location level.
Physical inventories are carried out at storage location level.
A storage location can be assigned to a warehouse number in the Warehouse Management System. You can assign more than one storage location to the same warehouse number within a plant.
Storage locations are always created for a plant.
In your case, instead of creating 5000 bins as a storage locations, try to reduce the size to two digits(around 50 st.loc) based on physical dimensions and structure of the racks and bins. It requires lot of brain storming before sizing the bins to st locations.

I need to create a different Storage location for Trading Goods.
Process Flow :GRs > Sales order > Deliver > Billing.
Normally in Trading goods we don't do Delivery but in our system we required to create delivery.

The nature of a trading good (material type HAWA) is to buy a material from external company, store it, and sell it to customers.
The nature of a finished goods is produce it yourself, store it and then sell it to cusotmers.
So why would one need to use a FERT and exchange the naming if HAWA just does what it is designed for?
if you need an extra storage location for such a material type, then create one with OX09
(please dont create logical storage locations, this just confuses your users, stick to the physical locations)

Storage location Locked in Delivery

Friends,
I have a requirement where Sloc should be protected in a delivery. What I mean by protected is that you cannot create deliveries from any other storage location but the one/two I specify? Does anybody know the whereabouts of doing this? Any advice would be appreciated. Do we need a user exit? I know that the it cannot be done by an authorization object.

Physical Inventory at Storage location level

Our suggestion on Physical inventory at the client site was as per SAP
"If the flag for posting block is set then no movements can be posted for that material. Note that the inventory document should be created at a material / plant / storage location level so as to not block that material at other storage locations. If a block is not required then do not flag the Set posting block indicator. It is always prudent to restrict the amount of materials being counted and to clear the count results quickly so business is not interrupted"
CLIENT feedback: " Like wise we asked the client to make the selection by Plant = 1000, SLoc = 100, and WBS =2312-344-332 and checked Posting Blocked.
My understanding was that this selection would block only the 1000/100/WBS location.
Client is having a problem is that people trying to transact in a SLoc other than 100 (200, 300, 400) are experiencing the Blocked warning.
I know I heard that we can inventory a Storage location in SAP and lock it and the rest of the sites could continue without interruption.
Any suggestions on how we can achieve this.

Are you setting teh posting block at the time of creation of physical inventory document or by running MI32 later?
If you are running MI32, then ensure that you enter teh storage locations correctly, else the material irrespective of storage locatioons may get blocked.

As per my understanding it is not possible in a single Table.
If this is required for customized Z report then use this logic it may gives the correct information.
In the combination of MARD and MBEW.. From MBEW you can get the value for each Base Unit of Measure then multiply that value with storage location stock.
It may usefull to u..in the mean time i will try for some other option.

MRP Run in an excluded Storage Location

Hello all. I have this situation.
I have material X with two storage locations: SL01 and SL02. Storage location SL01 has 15 pieces and SL02 has 5 pieces. In MD04, I can see a total of 20 pieces under the "Stock" MRP Element.
Material X also has five Order Reservations (OrdRes), for 5 pieces each. These Order Reservations are assigned to Storage Location SL02, because stock is procured from there.
What I want is to have the "Stock" line only show me the stock of SL01 (Stock = 15 pieces). I want SAP to "ignore" whatever it has in SL02 and only consider the stock in SL01, so MRP Run would give a proposal of 5 pieces.
I tried deactivating SL02 in Material Master MRP4 for material X, but then the MRP Run doesn't generate any proposals because my reservations are in SL02, and it's deactivated. Even if my Availability Check is set not to look at "storage location", if I the requirement is in SL02, it won't propose anything.
Is there any other solution to my problem? How can I have the system ignore the stock in SL02, but still propose those 5 pieces I'm missing in SL01?

Sorry, but your logic is not clear to me...
your stock:
5 pcs (SL02) + 15 (SL01) = 20 pcs
your requirements
5 x 5 pcs (SL02) = 25 pcs
Procurment proposal (w/o excluding SLoc):
20 pcs (stock) - 25 pcs (requirements) = -5 pcs > procurement proposal 5 pcs
You are saying:

So, you can see MRP will give a procurement proposal of 5 pcs without any SLoc exclusion...
Please clarify your requirement / business process. Why don't you want to consider the stock in Sloc2? What is your process?
You can see that you cannot exclude a SLoc with Sloc MRP and still consider the requirements relevant to that SLoc (unless you use reorder point planning in that SLoc).

Storage location wise stock

hi all mm expert,
in mb5b , stock come plant wise ie opening stock, closing stock, receiving stock, issue stock and thier values.
now i required these opening, closing, receiving, issue, value storage location wise with date.
a plant has 3 to 5 storage location.

here u will cover up all the stores
for the ragnge use the logic as per requirement
also if u have list in excel ,then just go to mb5b and click on arrow in front of it then just pest it u willget all loctions

Storage location stock with value on a particular date

i m in search of a report or logic which can fetch stock as in mb5b on a particular date. mb5b shows sloc stock but without value and show valuated stock without sloc. can anyone help me out to find such report or give some logic or table from where it can fetch sloc stock with value.

Hi,
All the stock related reports like MC.1,MC.5,MCBA etc will give you stock for a particular months range. he only report giving stock on a date is MB5B .However in this report you will not get the storage location stock value.
Now try the report in T Code J3RFLVMOBVED which will serve your purpose .Here in the material parameter tab give your storage location and the date range in the main tab Posting date range and than execute.

It is also depends on the business requirement .If the existing system does not follow any logic then you can use as below
1. You can create material type wise storage location
   Raw material Sto loc - 1001
   Packing material        - 2001
   SFG                           - 3001
    Trading goods          - 4001
    FG godds                - 0001
advantage of this approach is stock reports ,inventory documents can be created at storage location level and easy to track material and logicaly correct.
2. Some exceptional cases you have to use separeate storage location .for example production return to some blocked storage location

Plant and Storage Location determination at Item level during Copy control

Hello Freinds,
We are experiencing issues within Sales Order creation when the line item is referencing a contract. The plant and storage location is being determined from the contract - this should not be done, we have an enhancement in place for sales order plant/storage location determination which is how these values should be determined.
Kindly suggest, if it can be achieved through configuration setting at Copy control level, to avoid the Plant and Storage location determination from Contract in to Sales Order.

You can mention the additional logic of redetermining Plant and storage location whenever copied from contract.
In a sale order, i think you are maintaining a enhancement in prog MV45AFZB & user exit userexit_source_determination.
YOu can maintain the coding at same place.

Shipment costs and storage locations

Hello gurus,
I have got two questions concerning shipment costs:
1. In my POs I would like the system to automatically find a condition for shipment costs (e.g. 10$ per item or 100$ per PO), so that I do not have to enter them manually. Obviously the ammount should depend on the vendor, material etc. All I found up to now are condition types FRA1 and FRA2, but both of them are manual condition types. Isn't there any way of automatically determining shipment costs in POs?
2. One of our vendors does not charge any shipment costs, if the value of all items for one storage location exceeds 200$.
Example:
item   value    storage loc.
0010   10$      1000
0020 180$     1000
0030   20$      1000
0040   50$      1100
No shipment costs are charged for items 10-30, because the overall value of the three items is 210$, but for item 40 shipment costs are charged, because the item is for a different storage location.
Is there any way to generate this behavior in SAP?

You can automatically enter the shipment cost based onthe vendor and material
1) you can enter them in the info record so it would be defualt in the PO. in this case you don't have to enter manually but this will be not check your PO item value
2) you can create the conditon in the m/06 as like freight conditon and create the access sequence based onthe combination you want e.g. vendor and material and enter this access sequence in conditon type oyu have created and maintian that in your pricing so sytem will automatically determine the moment you create PO for this vendor and mateirla combination
but as per your secind scenarion where you have to do the total and than determine that the shipment charge is applicable or not
this will required custom logic to populate the conditon based onthe calculation of the item level total.

Stock transport order between storage locations and assignment category type E not in MRP

Hello Gurus,
I have a stock transport order between 2 storage location which belongs to the same plant. Besides the stock transport order is allocated to a sales order (account assigment category E). When I run the MD03, the system take into account the quantity of the stock transport order as a future entry and this is wrong. I need that the MRP has not into account the stock transport order as an entry.
As an important information, If I modify the stock transport order removing the account asignment category E (sales order), then the MRP doesn't take into account it, so this is correct.
Could anybody tell me how to get it?

It is normal that MRP will consider an STO as a receipt element; this is basic planning. It is unclear to me why you think you do not want it to do so, but I will assume you have some logical reason.
Contrary to what some others may have suggested, changing the scope of check for availability checking has no effect on which elements are considered for MRP. MRP is a completely separate functionality from Availability Check.
For Location > Location STOs (within a plant), then, you normally have the receipt element of the STO in the destination storage location, and the requirements element of an equal amount in the source storage location. Net of these two elements is zero, unless you have already issued the STO at the source location.
Changing the Account assignment from "E" means that the STO will not be relevant for your Sales order (in other words, when you receive this STO into the destination storage location, it cannot be used for your sales order). In a general MTO scenario, it also means that the proceeds of this STO (the stock you received) cannot be used for ANY sales orders.
One way that some people make an STO 'not relevant' for MRP is to alter the destination storage location such that it is not relevant for MRP. You can change the MRP relevancy of the storage location in MM02 > MRP4 tab
