Locking material movments during Physical Inventory

Hi !!
I went thru certain blogs on PI process but couldnt find mention of the Transaction code by which we can lock material movements posting during PI cycle .
Please let me know how we can lock these movements  during PI cycle at a plant or storage location or material level or a combination of either of them .
Regards

HI
Ramakrishna is correct, when u create material document for PI only there is check box you block those materials for further transactions untill PI is complete there is no seperate T-CODE to block materials while PI.

  • How to set movement or transfer block during Physical Inventory

    Hello Team,
I was wondering if someone could help with how to set
Material Movement block for the entire plant during physical inventory.
    I will appreciate any input.

The inventory process in general in equal.
creating document - printing documents - counting - enter count - (recount) - post difference.
It is just the step of creating documents which differs between MI01 and MI31.
MI01 wants that the user to enters the material to be counted manually.
While in MI31 you have a huge selection screen, that allows you to create inventory documents for several location at the same time, while SAP  takes the materials according to your selection criterias.
MI31 can be executed to create the documents directly or by batch input, in earlier releases it was only possible thru batch input.

  • Material Blocked for Goods reciept during Physical inventory.

    Dear All,
We are using Batch management .
While carrying out the Physical inventory, system allows the goods receipt for the materials existing in the physical inventory document,  As the new batch is created during the Goods receipt.
While creating the physical inventory we are putting the posting block and including all the existing batches available at that time.
Can anyone suggest anything so that the goods receipt can be stopped till the time difference is not posted in the system.

    Dear Don,
Please explore the "Posting block" and  "Freeze book inventory"
    checkbox in transaction MI01 .
Posting block Indicates that no goods movements involving the materials
listed in the physical inventory document can be posted for the duration
    of a physical inventory count.
    I hope this helps

  • Unblock Bins/Material during physical inventory

    Guys ,
Can anyone suggest me the necessary config to be maintained to make the unblock everytime even when a physical inventory document is created and inventory count is not completed ,.
    Thanks

    Hi
If you want to unblock bins I assume you are talking about WM
I do not think what you want to do is possible or advisable.
In WM you cannot freeze the book inventory as you do in Imand so therefore the way to protect the integrity of the stock in the bins whilst it is being counted is to block them as WM does when an inventory count is activated.
You could either create a count doc and save it but DO NOT activate it until you are ready to count it (this can be done in LX22) the block only occurs when the count is actually activated, alternatively delete the count document or finally complete the count
    I hope that this helps

  • Freeze inventory during Physical Inventory

    Hi,
I am creating a physical inventory document with  'Freeze book inv. bal.' ticked in MI01. After document gets created,  I am expecting that the Physical inventory block field in material master is set to 'A' . However in my system it sets it to 'X' which then makes the inventory movement is not allowed even though I did not tick the 'Posting block'
Is there any set up that I need to do to make the tick on Freeze book inv balance during MI01 to result in Physical Inventory Blcok field = A in material master
    Thank you.

    Hi,
SPRO --> Material mnagemnet --> Inventory managemnet and phy Inventory --> physical Inventory --> Allow Freezing of Book Inventory Balance in Storage Location
Check the check Box for store in the plant.
    Hope Help U !

  • Btach determination during Physical inventory

    Hi Gurus,
Just wanted to know that while carrying out Physical Inventory, batches are getting automatically determined when i am creating the document and later viewing it.
    Can it be elaborated?
    Regards,
    SS

SAP searches for any batch for this material in the same storage location  that has stock and is not counted in the current fiscal year.
with settings in the selection screen, you can even control to include batches of the same material and storage location that have zero stock
and you can control to include even already counted batches to be counted again.

  • Material stock issue during physical inventory

In Press to see the stock, it is very difficult to group the material
For Eg: Material: RM58.5X91X90GAPPML Description : Maplitho 23"X36"X90 GSM Andra Ccs Hi-bi
all the materials were grouped together under single Material group : Paper
Now if they want to find only 90 GSM or 80 GSM stock it is very difficult for them to find and also they want to check the stock dimension wise(23"X36").
client feels that, it is not possible to group the material Dimension wise. If they group according to dimension they feel that they will be having a huge list of material groups. They want 3 fields to be identified for entering State, Dimension & GSM
    Pls guide me

You have to refer SAP materials on classification. Find it in the SAP online help or on the net.
Basically you have to create a class using CL01 and create it with class type 001 (Material class)
Then create three characteristics using CT04 and then assign these characteristics to the above class
After this you have enable classification view on all the relevant materials and assign this class and update the characteristics values.
But do refer to my response to your query on segregating stocks by these addtional dimensions. As per this requirement, you have use batch classification and not material classification.
While the process of creating class & Characteritics remain same, the difference being class type which is 023. Then assign the class to all materials. Now don't need to update the values. The values have to be updated when you post the GR. So for each batch the dimension values can be different which I think is your requirement.

  • Material blocked due to a physical inventory - VL02N - Post Goods Issue

    Hi,
We are working with SAP R/3 4.6C IDES.
During a business process we need to run VL02N and to click the Post Goods Issue button.
When we do that, we are getting the following error:
"Material P-103 1000 0001 blocked due to a physical inventory"
Anyone knows that I need to do in order to make it work?!
Also, anyone knows how can I add more quantity to a given part?
    Thank you!
    Yaniv

    Hi Yaniv!
Any stock changes are forbidden during physical inventory (otherwise you wouldn't know, if your counting has amount of before or after the change).
Close the counting (-> ask who has done this), then goods issue is possible.
Quantity change: go to picking tab and enter 'real' -> changed quantity.

    Christian

  • Handling Unit Status (0031) - Physical Inventory

    Hello Friends,
We need to know when the system change HU status to 0031 in table VEKP (HU Header) .  We assumed that, it will be during physical inventory posting for HU's and for testing the following transactions are executed -
    1. HUINV01 -
    2. HUINV03
    3. HUINV04
    4. HUINV05
However after physical inventory doc posted and material document generated for difference, system still showing the HU Status as 0020.
In this regard, please suggest whether we are doing the correct way or what is the method to adjust the HU's and when the system update the status 0031 in HU table.
    Appreciate your supprt.
    Thanks

  • Configuration - Physical inventory??

    hii
I want to know the configuration setting for below process.
    Physical Inventory Procedures
The R/3 System supports the following physical inventory procedures:
      Periodic inventory
      Continuous inventory
      Cycle counting
      Inventory sampling
    Thansk
    SAP_mm

    hi,
freezing the book inventory means , any goods movement which happened during the stock count time will not change the book inventory balance relevant to the physical inventory.
for eg: you have created a physical inv doc and you have not entered the count results although it is counted by you, with the help of activating freezing book inventory, any goods movement that happens during this mean time will not affect the book inventory.
    Tolerance for physical differences:
in this you are defining the certain percentage say around 1% to accept the differences between the book stock and physical stock.
    eg:for a x material the differences allowed is 1no
during physical inventory, if there is more shoratge than the allowed tolerance, you cant post the difference.

  • Physical Inventory Movement Block not Rest at Storage Location Level

    Hi,
We are facing a typical problem in our Production System and the issue is as follows:
    1. We have created a Physical Inventory Document for a material with Freeze Book Inventory and Posting Block indicators.
    2. We completed the count and entered the same with reference to the PI Document.
    3. We reconciled and posted the differences in the system.
    4. We still find that in Material Master the Physical Inventory block for material movements was not reset automatically at the Storage Location stock view.
Please help us urgently as all our Goods movements for this material are held up.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I am able to see 4 PIDs in MI22 for my material.
2 docs pertaining to the latest Annual Physical Inventory in 2010.
These documents are for the same material in the same plant but for different Storage Locations. Out of which when i see the Material Master - Storage Location view, i see that the Physical Inventory Block "X" is set for one of the Storage Locations.
The PID for the Storage Location with this Physical Inventory Block for Movements indicator, is already settled (Count done and no differences in physical and book stock in this storage location).
The problem persists and i need to remove the posting block which was not reset.

" Reason 0701 for movement type 703 not defined "
and then i tried with movement type 703 to post the difference, again it is showing another error like

  • Posting in Physical Inventory

    Hi Guys,
Since I do not have open system to test this, I am little confused on this. Which accounts will be updated during Physical Inventory post (exp move 701)?
I am confused among the accounts form GBB->INV, PRD->INV and BSX (stock account).
Please share your comments on this and if any other comments on this query.
    Thanks and regards,
