Locking of control Panel

Hi All,
How to Lock the control panel so that the user dont have access to open the same and do any changes..
We dont want the user to change the Memebr ids (of the input templates) in the control panel so how to control the same?
Thanks,
Shankar.v

Hi Shankar,
We also faced same problem in our Project.
What we did was using
1. Go To native excel Tools --> Protection --> Allow User to edit Ranges ( Select the Input data Range Here ). Then
2. Go to  E Tools --> Workbook options --> set Worksheet password. This will solve your problem.
When you want to open you can use same excel functions to open the sheet. Like Tools --> protection --> unprotect.
In Step 1 you can put password at Edit Range level also but it is not mandatory.
Hope This will help.

  • Why can't I lock the control panel on M602's via webjetadmin 10.1?

    HP webjetadmin 10.1
    Hi,
we administer a fleet onf HP printers mainly 4015s and 4250s, we are able toautomate lockin of these devices through the control panel on these using webjetadmin 10.1 however since we have put our fleet of M602's in we are unable to lock these via Jetadmin, we can via the web interface but we automate it 4 times a day in case students do a cold reset and attempt to print via IP.
    Obviously that is a problem.
    Any help appreciated.

    HI Pete,
Your query is probably better suited to the HP  Enterprise Community  forum.
The M602 is not a consumer device. IT is marketed as a solution for medium to large workgroups..

  • GPO Block Control Panel

    Hello friends,
I need help. I created an OU in
my domain and this OU put
the user's computer and also this user
account, I created a GPO to lock
the control panel, only the lock is
not happening, I ran the command
gpresult / r on the machine
and the result shows Block_Cpanel that the
    GPO is applied, except that
the control panel is there, free for anyone to access.
Any idea what might be happening and
    how to resolve this issue?
    Thank you!
    Ivanildo Teixeira Galvão

    Hi
Instead of putting user's and computer in the same OU you should create sub OU under the main OU and separate them to make things
    easier.
What OS do you have on you server?
You should try Group Policy Modelling and Results for bit more troubleshooting against this user account.
Also if you log on to the same machine with different user account does the policy works?
    Thanks

If the battery was completely drained the iPad will not respond for some time after connecting it to the charger. Connect the iPad to the charger that came with it and plug that into a good wall outlet. Wait 30 minutes. Then reset the iPad.Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until it's battery shows fully charged. If the iPad still does not start Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. Be sure to back up your device before taking or sending it to Apple.

Install Portable Firefox 3.6.x to your hard drive for that one website. It won't affect your current Firefox installation at all. <br />

Do you have OS X and OS 9 installed on your Mac? If so, startup with the Option key depressed. This will open the Startup Manager window. Select the OS you want to start from & click the right arrow.

  • My control panel does not have flashlight, calculator or portrait lock

Control panel does not have flashlight, calculator or portrait lock

There is no flashlight since the iPad has no flash with it's camera. There is no calculator icon since the native calculator app available with the iPhone version is not included with the iPad's version of iOS 7. The rotation lock depends on Settings/General/Use side switch to..., setting it to mute audio will put the lock screen button on Control Panel. Setting it to lock screen rotation will change the button in Control Panel to a Mute button.

  • Locked out of Windows XP Boot Camp control panel

I'm getting locked out of my Boot Camp control panel under Windows XP with the following message:
"An error occurred while trying to access the startup disk settings.
You may not have privileges to change the startup disk. Make sure you have administrator privileges and try again."
Likewise if I try to restart OS X from the XP icon tray, I get this message:
"Could not locate the Mac OS X boot volume."
However, holding the alt-key at boot up reveals both startup disks. I can boot successfully into OS X and XP using the alt-key, and I can switch startup disks successfully from the OS X System Preferences pane. Also, the Boot Camp partition is visible to Vmware Fusion and can be used to boot into Windows XP successfully. It's only within native Windows XP that the OS X boot volume is not accessible.
I'm running Windows XP Home (SP3) with the latest Boot Camp 2.1 update. Re-running the BCUpdateXP.exe program to repair Boot Camp was unsuccessful. The OS X boot volume still can't be accessed from XP. Any ideas out there?

Same problem, same error message now in October 2008. Running Mac OS X 10.5.5 & Windows XP SP3. Also running MacDrive and Norton Anti-Virus for Windows.
Problem disappears upon reverting to WinXP SP2 using Windows System Restore. Imperfect fix, but it does work. Revert to last restore point when SP2 was working.

  • Accounts lock after managing users through control panel

I have an account lockout issue that is reproducible and exists across many devices.
These systems are Win 7 Professional 32-bit, not domain members, and fairly locked down via local Group Policy - I suspect the issue is in there, but I can't identify it. There are normally two administrator
accounts (this might be important - see below) and one or more unprivileged user accounts.
To reproduce the issue, I log in to one of the admin accounts, create or delete a standard user through Control Panel>User Accounts, and then log off. Immediately both admin accounts are locked out.
I can log in as the standard user I just created, but have to unlock the admin accounts by booting to DVD. The event log shows the admin account log off, followed immediately by 3 credential validation failures for the other admin account
    - that is, the account that was not logged in when the user management was performed. I can't imagine where these cred validation failures are coming from, but per Local Group Policy, 3 failures should indeed lock the account. Logs show
no reason at all (AFAIK) for the first admin account - the one actually doing the user management - to be locked.
If I add or remove users through compmgmt.msc, there are no issues of any kind.
As I said, I can reliably reproduce this issue on multiple machines. Any thoughts?

I've just come across this same issue on a Windows 2008 Server.  When entering the User Accounts control panel, a failed logon event is immediately triggered (from dllhost.exe, logon type 2, status code of "bad password") targeting the current user
account.  When clicking the "Manage another account" link, a similar failed logon event is triggered for every account that is listed on that screen.  If this screen is opened multiple times, it's possible to lock out every account on the system.
It's not clear to me why the User Accounts control panel would be attempting to authenticate as any of these accounts, but in the short term, we'll probably use a GPO to prevent access to this particular control panel.  Any administration of local accounts
should be done via MMC consoles anyway.
Not sure if Home Edition desktop operating systems have the same option, or if the same behavior occurs there.

  • Every time I update or repair in the control panel it comes up with a error message like, this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action, please install a program if it is installed create an association to the default pro

  • Notifications and control panel do not work on either the app screen or home screen

On my home screen and in apps, I can not swipe up or down to release the notifications or control panel. It has worked earlier today, however not any more.
I can, however, access them in the lock screen, andin settings, they are allows to open in apps. It should always allow me to access them in the home screen though, so I do not know what has happened.
What do I have to do to access the control panel in the home screen, and why is it like this?

Do you have a screen protector or case that would interfere with swiping?
If so remove them as a test.
    Otherwise:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • How to change a setting in the Java Control Panel with command line

    Hi,
I am trying to figure out how to change a setting in the Java Control Panel with command line or with a script. I want to enable "Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format"
I can't seem to find any documentation on how to change settings in the Java Control Panel via the command line
    Edited by: 897133 on Nov 14, 2011 7:15 AM

OK figured it out. This is for the next person seeking the same solution.
When you click on the Java Control Panel (found in the Control panel) in any version of Windows, it first looks for a System Wide Java Configuration (found here: C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment). At this point you must be wondering why you don't have this folder (C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment) or why its empty. Well, for an enterprise environment, you have to create it and place something in it - it doesn't exist by default. So you'll need a script (I used Autoit) to create the directory structure and place the the two files into it. The two files are "deployment.properties" and "deployment.config".
Example: When you click on the Java Control Panel it first checks to see if this directory exists (C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment) and then checks if there is a "deployment.config". If there is one it opens it and reads it. If it doesn't exist, Java creates user settings found here C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment on Windows 7.
    __deployment.config__
It should look like this inside:
    *#deployment.config*
    *#Mon Nov 14 13:06:38 AST 2011*
*# The First line below specifies if this config is mandatory which is simple enough*
*# The second line just tells Java where to the properties of your Java Configuration*
*# NOTE: These java settings will be applied to each user file and will overwrite existing ones*
    deployment.system.config.mandatory=True
    deployment.system.config=file\:C\:/WINDOWS/Sun/Java/Deployment/deployment.properties
If you look in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment on Windows 7 for example you will find "deployment.properties". You can use this as your default example and add your settings to it.
    How?
Easy. If you want to add *"Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format"*
    Add this line:
    deployment.security.SSLv2Hello=true
Maybe you want to disable Java update (which is a big problem for enterprises)
    Add these lines:
    deployment.javaws.autodownload=NEVER
    deployment.javaws.autodownload.locked=
Below is a basic AutoIt script you could use (It compiles the files into the executable. When you compile the script the two Java files must be in the directory you specify in the FileInstall line, which can be anything you choose. It will also create your directory structure):
    #NoTrayIcon
    #RequireAdmin
    #Region ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI ****
    #AutoIt3Wrapper_UseX64=n
    #EndRegion ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI ****
    Func _JavaConfig()
         $ConfigFile_1 = @TempDir & "\deployment.properties"
         $ConfigFile_2 = @TempDir & "\deployment.config"
         FileInstall ("D:\My Documents\Autoit\Java config\deployment.properties", $ConfigFile_1)
    FileInstall ("D:\My Documents\Autoit\Java config\deployment.config", $ConfigFile_2)
         FileCopy($ConfigFile_1, @WindowsDir & "\Sun\Java\Deployment\", 9)
         FileCopy($ConfigFile_2, @WindowsDir & "\Sun\Java\Deployment\", 9)
         Sleep(10000)
         FileDelete(@TempDir & "\deployment.properties")
         FileDelete(@TempDir & "\deployment.config")
    EndFunc
    _JavaConfig()
Now if you have SCUP and have setup Self Cert for your organization, you just need to create a SCUP update for JRE.
