Locking of data form

Hi All,
My requirement is to make the data form unavailable for any editing and copying of data from any other source at month end. Can it be achieved?

There are a couple of methods where you could automate the form to be read only.
You could export the form using LCM or the formdefutil utility.
This will generate an XML of the form, you could have two copies of the XML, inside the XML one with readOnly="false" and the other readOnly="true"
Then use LCM or formdefutil by command line to import the version you want, so one could set the form to readonly, one can reset it.

Planning Data Form Lock

Hi,
I am wondering whether the Excel Lock & Send mechanism can be implemented in Hyperion Planning data form. I am using 9.3.1 of Hyperion Planning. This means that when one user is working (writing) on the data form with the specific page members, the other users can only read the data form (or get some sort of notification) for the same combination only.
Of course, one possible solution is to use the custom javascript to do so (I am not so sure how difficult this can be,either). Anyone got any experience on that?

Like you said this would require custom java script. Additionally you would need a central location to store user states to be able to flip the read switch.
Unless you are very good at javascript or someone provides you a custom script this is a non-trival exercise.
Likely you would use the xmlphttprequest function, setup a custom web service and have it interact with a database to store user state.
Implenting process, communication, and appropriate security is the manner to avoid people over-writing other values.

Unable to view locked data in Data Forms

Hi,
Does anyone know why we are not able to view locked data (it just shows empty orange cells) in Data Entry Forms? We added a column to the Data Form with the prior quarter information. This is just for information purposes and not for entering data, so the users see in one single form what they entered in the prior quarter. Unfortunately the cells do not show any data when the prior quarter is locked.

Unlock Data and run updated Business Rules and lock again...

The data form formname is currently in use and is locked by user username

We run planning 931 on weblogic 91 and sometimes our administrators find our forms locked. So the are not able to edit them.
The following message appears +“the data form <formname> is currently in use and is locked by user <username>”.+
Off course it always happens with users who are not available themselves to unlock the form for others. ;-)
Only a planning windows service restart unlockes this. In our case the form is not unlocked after 2 hours.
I found this phrase via google. It suggests that there is a certain (time) propertie which unlockes the form after a given period.
Does anyone know where to set this property? Or to solve this otherwise.
Only one person at a time can use the Add a Row function on a particular form. When you have the form open, everyone else is locked out. If you close the form (using the X) instead of cancelling it, it will remain locked by you for the next two hours, even though it's not on your screen anymore. If this happens, you will be the only one who can reopen the form. You can unlock the form by reopening it and then clicking the Cancel button to exit properly.

no solution found. A restart of the services did the job. Hopefully this is not necessary again.

Error while saving data form in planning

Hi,
We are getting the below error while saving the data form in planning
"There was an error during the save process"
i believe our form is not exceeds 255 columns we were able to access the same form till yesterday
can any one please help me on this

One reason could be that the blocks that you are trying to save are locked either through excel-addin or someone else might be updating the same combinations. I have encountered such issues earlier and got the same error. Check if there are any locks in essbase while you are saving the planning data.

Data forms new requirement, Members need to hide for diff combination

Hi All,
I have a new requirement
I have created asymmetric forms and created a extra member in period dimension as per required.(Extra member name is ABC)
In layout page view i have given scenario dimension with members called budget,Actual,Forecast.
now when open data form combination to budget scenario Extra member has to appear,
if you select Forecast Extra members should not appear in the form.
am in mess how to achieve this requirement can any one help me out in acheiving this requirement.

Hi,
Assuming you have accounts on the rows and periods on the columns, try this solution:
Create two account members called RowSuppresser (store) and RowSuppresserDyn (dynamic). Retrieve RowSuppresser in Excel combined with ABC (period) and Budget (scenario) along with one default member from all other dimension (i.e. no entity, no year etc). input a flag amount (0 or 1) and lock and send to Essbase. Member formula in RowSuppresserDyn should point to this particular input (i.e. RowSuppresser->"No Year"->"No Entity" etc.
Add a row on top of all other rows in your form and select (RowSuppresserDyn) account member. You can even hide this row if you wish. In the column where you added ABC period, enable suppress missing data. So when Budget is selected, this column appears, otherwise is gone.

Cannot save data in data form

I am unablet o save the data in one of the cells in data form.
i am able to send lock and send data
access permissions are good.
member is stored and not dynamic calc.
any ideas please.

Is the member you are trying to input against the only child of a parent and both the member and the parent are showing on the form ? If so this falls into 'implicit shared' where Essbase treats the parent as a child, ways round it are to only show the child in the input form, or set the parent to 'Never Share'.

Error in visualizing a Data Form "WDEFGenerator.cpp"

I have migrated an HFM application from version 4.01 SP2 to version 11.1.2.1
Everything works fine appart from an error in visualizing a Data Form:
In the previous version of HFM this error was not verified.
If I disable the option SuppressNoDataRows I get no errors but I would like to keep this option enabled.
Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Error when opening Data Form

Hi All,
Also I have tried by removing access for that user and opened the Dta Form but still it throwing me the same error:
You are trying to open the data form, but cannot because all of the required dimensions are not present. Possible causes may be that you do not have access to at least one member of a required dimension, or the member selection resulted in no members present. Contact your administrator

Here there are 2 things, once your epma heirarchy is ready did you deploy it against your planning App ? and incase if you haven't deployed your planning application, then old outline would be existing in Essbase and if you load data for old outline it will still take into but when you deploy the database gets restructured and older data gets restructured/removed.
Before going onto that level first check if your load data to essbase completed successfully. and did you load data for the combinations on dataform ? ? Try manually inputting a number through data form and submit and do a refresh to see if value comes up. ? Check your data form settings , if you have enables suppress missing rows/blocks.

Get cell value in Planning Data form and using it in a business rule

Hi Everybody,
if i set the data type of an Account Member as text, is there a way to get the value inserted by the user in a dataform, turning it as dimensional member and using it in a business rule?
So, if the user insert the value "USA" in a cell, can i use any functions to tell essbase that "USA" is a dimensional member and then using it in a business rule, for example in a cross-dimension like Period1->FY12->USA?
I tried to use the function @Member and it doesn't work, but i'm wondering if there is a way that can let me get the value inserted and use it just like a dimensional member. What are the ways that can let user input value that can be used in a business rule? I think one is by using SmartList, is there any other ways? Maybe using variables?? As an alternative i tried to use Prompt Variable but there are too many members on which the rule must run.
Please help me, i wanna know if i can or not let the user input the member on which the rule must run...

YesI could use SmartList even if i think it's very tough to handle. My experience on using SmartList in caclc script is not so good. I try to enter in details of my requirement:
I have 500 account members.
For each one, I have to calculate the monthly budget by sharing the amount among the months. The user wants to calculate it on the basis of the actual flow(over the months) of an unspecified account of the prior year. The unspecified account must be inserted in a data form.
So, i could use a Smart List but it colud be of 500 elements and then i should make a rule with as many IF as how many are the accounts. Or im wrong? The only way to use smart list dynamically in a business rule is by referring its values in a IF condition. Or i'm wrong.
I tried to use execution variable ma it seems don't work. In this case the user must pay attention to write the account correctly, otherwise as you say the rule doesn't work.
The value in PD0A020 is "PD0A000" (that is a dimensional member). The value in PD0A000 is "hello". In PD0A040 the rule returns "PD0A000" and not "hello" as i would. The function @Member appears to be not able to catch the dimensional member by the value in PD0A000.

Locking of data in R/3 backend (VC 7.1)

Hello,
The following scenario:
I call an ABAP RFC in VC to get data from R/3 Backend which I want to display and change in a View. After I have changed the data I saved the changes in R/3 backend.
Has the locking of the concerned tables/objects in R/3 backend to handle by the ABAP RFC's or is it possible to do this with VC? Is it possible to run an ABAP RFC / to hold the connection to R/3 backend for several minutes to keep the logging upright?
Or has to proceed this scenario like this?:
1. VC calls a RFC
2. The RFC first locks the data then reads the data and returns the result back to VC
3. The user changes the data and presses a save button
4. VC calls the RFC to write and unlock the data

As per my understanding is that you need to validate the data in R/3 and BW if iam not mistaken then you can built a remote cube on R/3 datasource and i think you will be having basic cube in BW which contains data. now you can built an multicube on both remote and basic cubes and you can have a report on that multicube so that you can compare the data of both R/3 and BW.

Security and/or filtering error in data form creation

I am getting this error when I am trying to preview my data form.
This is the first time I am creating an application and data form in Hyperion.
The data form is multicurrency and plan type is Plan1.
Row:
Account members: Descendants(Account)
Column:

Period:Descendants(YearTotal)
Page Dimension(s)
Entity:Descendants(Entity)
Scenario:Current
Version:BU Version_1
POV:
Currency:USD
Disabled all options in "Other options" and Not selected any business rukes.
When selecting preview data form I am getting below error:
Security and/or filtering has resulted in a required dimension not being represented on this data form
I have not selected any security/filter settings as of now. Please suggest whats causing this.

I did what you suggested,but I am still getting same error.
Here I would like to point out that. I have selected my application to support multicurrency, but 'HSP_RATES' does not come in Dimension selection drop down. I can see 'HSP_RATES' in Performance settings tab, but I cant see it in Dimensions tab or Evaluation order tab.
Is this causing problem? Should I add it manually?

User access to "planning " data forms

iam newbie to planning
i have two different doubts in planning
i have created a application in eas called "blue " in eas console and loaded the data and retrieved in excel , iam able to see the data . mean while i have created planning application called "gt" and its created sucessfully, i can able to "gt" see in the eas console . i wanted to get the data from "blue" in eas into planning "gt" dataforms i created a user called "blue" in shared services console , i decided to give the privilege to "blue" in eas , i clicked on the default application to blue application but was nt there ,but it showing separtely , i clicked on that and assigned roles like "administrator" and cube creator and planner
my doubt is that
1: when i logon "gt " planning application and created dataform folder i want to access the essbase application "blue" data, but there is no user available in that dataform
iam confused whether i should give privileges to default application or "gt " i find both of them in shared services console
clearly my doubt how to link eas "blue" with planning "gt " and datas form blue should be retrived in gt dataform

Hi,
I am not totally sure what you are trying to achieve but if you create an essbase application in EAS it is a totally seperate entity from a planning application, so you can't just access it directly.
The are many options on what to do but it needs to be clearer why you have to access the data from a seperate database.
If there is a commonality in the dimensions then it would have been possible to create an extra plan type when you created the planning application, this creates an extra database as part of the planning application.
The other options are to use XREFs to access data from one to cube to another.
Another option would to use partitions.
You could extract the data from one cube using an export or DATAEXPORT command and then load it into your planning database or use ODI to extract from one database and load it into the other.

Indeed, it is possible to link a web analysis report in a planning custom menu.
Follow this procedure :
- From the explorer :
-> Go to the folder where your web analysis report is stored
-> Right click on the document and left click on "properties"
-> Copy the "smartCut" link
- From your planning application :
-> Edit the menu where you want to link your webanalysis report :
-> Create a URL item and past the link in the input field
