Locking Pages in Indesign CS6

In Indesign CS6, I want to create a page that cannot be edited, but, if duplicated, can be edited.
Is this possible?

Are you saving with the .indt extension? When you do that ID will open an untitled copy by default so that you don't accidentally overwrite your template file. I'm not sure what to tell you about editing the master page other than one, be more careful about where you are, and two, perhaps lock the objects, though that may have adverse effects on your ability to use them for placing content.

Cannot ALT copy elements across pages in Indesign CS6

I cant seem to copy elements across pages anymore in Indesign CS6. In CS4 ( the last one I was using before I upgraded) i could select an element (ie text box) and (windows) ALT drag that text box across pages effectively copying it. In CS6 I can ALT drag on a page but as soon as I try to go across pages it cancels the dupilcation. Anyone know if this is new/changeable/bug

How do I change the text color of footers on select pages? (InDesign CS6)

Months ago, I worked with a graphic designer to put together a 100-page workbook for my training company. He turned all of the files over to me and I'd like to make a small change before we print another run for a new client. Specifically, I'm having trouble changing the text color on select pages. Since a picture says 1,000 words, let me give you an example:
As you can see, the copyright information on the right side of the page is difficult to read here when placed over the photo (you may have to look closely, but it's along the guy's sleeve). What I'd love to do is change that part of the footer (not the left, page number side) to white text. This would make it quite a bit easier to read. There's a number of other pages in the book that I want to make this change to. I'm not sure why I never noticed it or mentioned it to the designer. I suppose I've become more discerning since then.
Let me tell you what I've tried to do:
I learned how to override master pages by CTRL+SHIFT clicking on the footer. However, this has not worked for me. It allows me to change the page number part, but not the copyright side. Additionally, sometimes when I override the master the formatting of the footer goes goofy. For instance, the left side and right side come together and end up in the middle of the page I'm working on.
I'm looking for a quick way to go through and make the footers easier to read on pages where they are backed by a photo. Hoping you can help me. Please let me know if you need any other information.

I think you should have left it as it was. It seems like what you had was single pages flowing as spreads within InDesign. Like below. That is the correct way, and when you changed it to all single, it did create your footer problems.
Will you be sending the file as a PDF to your online printer? If so, then leaving the InDesign file set as below is fine. The PDF output will separate the pages.
All you have to do is make sure that Pages, not Spreads, is chosen when you output the PDF

Page overlap when exporting to pages in InDesign CS6.

for a college project I am creating a little a5 sketch book, I have everything finished, but when I export the file as pages (which is what the company who is printing it requested) some of the spread overlaps onto the pages like so:

Could anyone help me please? I'm far from an expert using InDesign, thankyou to anyone who is kind enough to help, if you need more screenshots i'll happily put them up.

So I should be saving as spreads, not pages, which is my fault again and i'm sorry. The covers and the first/second page will be double sided, meaning I won't have a blank page in between them.

I know i'm being a pain in the back side but i'm not fluent in InDesign and it gets quite confusing with setting pages up.

How to make a layer exclusive to a page in InDesign CS6?

As I am just transitioning over to InDesign from working in Illustrator, how do I make a layer exclusive to just one page in a multi page document?
What am I making?
I'm putting together a document with 10 separate, single page, adverstisements but I dont want all of the background images from every page to disappear when I toggle the on/off switch on the layer in which I've placed the image. It seems as though all the pages are linked to the same layer. I must be approaching this the wrong way.
Any help in troubleshooting this would help me out greatly - Thank you.

Can't Move pages in InDesign CS6

I have a 24 page workbook that I had to renumber the pages to start with page 2. After doing this, my pages aren't showing up next to each other. And I'm unable to move them. I've included a screen shot for reference.
Any advice?

Fromthe pages panel flyout menu make sure Allow Document Pages to Shuffle is checked, and also Allow Selected Spreads to Shuffle for any spreads that show the numbers in brackets if you want them to be able to rearrange as well (in this case you have two pages numbered 2, and that's a problem since by default ID wants to arrange even numbered pages tothe left of the spine and odds to the right).

In Indesign CS6 I export an artboard to TIFF with the sdk's funtion SnapshotUtilsEx- ExportImageToTIFF(iStream) and, the resulting file is one pixel too large in the X, leaving a transparent strip on one edge. Any idea if there is a bug in the sdk?

An easy example to prove this bug of Indesing CS6: I create a psd with Photoshop CS6, with width 505 pixels, height 317 pixels and a resolution of 300 pixels per inch. This psd is placed on a page in InDesign CS6. Then I try to export it as a tiff with the functions:
fSnapshotUtilsEx->Draw(flags,fullResolutionGraphics,greekBelowPtSize,enableAntiAliasing,tr ansparencyQuality,abortCheck,pVPAttrMap,bDrawNonPrintingObjects);
and

The resulting tiff has a width of 506 pixels (one pixel more in width). It will happen the same if we start with a width of 507 pixels, etc.
This error does not occur with Indesign CS5, nor Indesing CC.

Lorsque je veux exporter un document de plusieurs pages dans Indesign CS6 en jpg, je veux utiliser le .jpg, et rien écrire avant. Une fenêtre apparaît me disant : Les noms débutant par un point «.» sont réservés au système.
Lorsque je travaillais sur le CS5, je pouvais le faire, maintenant c'est impossible. Quelqu'un peut m'aider ? Lorsqu'on a un 60 pages où il faut enlever tous les «0» mis à cause de ce détail, c'est très long.

Moi aussi je travaille sur Mac et j'ai toutes les versions de CS à CS6… Comme je le disais dans ma réponse, c'est le système qui empêche que le nom d'un fichier commence par un point.

en essayant de nommer les fichiers de cette façon…

Ce sont des numéros de pages de journal que j'exporte en jpg. Voilà pourquoi j'ai besoin de chiffre de 01 à 60.... et non de 001 à 060 !
Là, je ne comprends plus ! À aucun moment dans votre question, vous ne mentionnez le fait que vous voulez nommer vos exports de cette manière.
Je viens de refaire un test, en conservant le nom du fichier InDesign d'origine. J'obtiens ceci : nomdufichier.jpg, puis nomdufichier2.jpg, et ce jusqu'à 60, mais pas de « 0 » supplémentaire ; c'est peut-être lié à la version d'OS que vous utilisez.
Ensuite, on peut utiliser Bridge pour renommer les fichiers par lot, ce qui permet aussi de retirer le « 0 » qui vous gêne.

Questions about Downloading InDesign CS6 for WIN

I am trying to help an employee get Adobe InDesign CS 6 installed on his Windows Computer.
We are wondering what the difference between these three options are when you are on the Download Program Page:

InDesign cs6 spell check and master pages

I have created a set of master pages for a template in InDesign cs6. When I create a document from this template and apply "spelling", the spell check goes through every master page before moving to the document. How can I stop spell check from going to master pages unless, of course, the master page is highlighted? I have tried locking all master page objects and have also tried selecting the option of not allowing selection of master page locked objects. I have allowed, and disallowed, the override on master page items Nothing seems to work. I would like "spelling" to apply only the pages in the document, or only the selected page in the document.

If you go to Edit>Spelling>Check Spelling
You get a dialog box - the only options are for All Documents, Current Document, Story, To End of Story, or Selection
These are the options for checking spelling, ignore masters is not an option, unfortunately.
But you can select a range of text and use the Selection option to check the spelling.

"Indesign CS6 Edit Page Size"

Hi why have you changed the way edit page size works in cs6 compared to cs5? in cs5 i could use the reference point to decide where i wanted the page to grow. In cs6 it doesnt matter where i have the reference point it adds the size from center regardless of where i have the reference point.

All fields in InDesign can be entered in any measurement system. So, if you want to make an 8"x10" document and go to File>New Document and the window looks like this:
…you can type either 8 in or 8" into the Width field like this:
…and when you move to the next field, it will convert the eight inches into the equivalent number in the unit of measure that it is using at the moment, like this:
… (203.2 milimeters is the same as 8 inches). You can also enter a different measurement unit into other fields once the file is created, such as the width or height of a frame, or the position of an object in the X and Y coordinates.
If you would rather just work in inches instead of having to type the inches mark or abbreviation, go to InDesign>Preferences>General and select the Units & Increments tab. There you will see Ruler Units for Horizontal and Vertical at the top of the window. Set them to Inches and all of the fields will display in inches. If you do that to an open document, you will change the unit of measure for that document. If you do it while no documents are open, it will change the unit of measure for any new documents you create. To change the unit of measure for existing documents, you will have to open each and make the change.

AppleScript to check all pages within one Indesign (CS6) document have same size.

I have bunch of InDesign (CS6) documents containing different page sizes (some are designed for a particular device and some are designed for multiple devices using alternate layouts). I need to assure all page sizes are same before I run a particular script.
So I need a Applescript which can request a folder location of closed files and then open and run through the InDesigns in that folder (ignoring any other files) and then open a text file report saying all page sizes are same or not. (Sorry! for my English)

InDesign CS6 bug - removes content from random pages

So I was scrolling through my document, when the wheel of doom came up and it was struggling to load m pages so InDesign crashed, which is normally fine but this time when i reopened, the content from 4 random pages completely disappeared, the blank pages still exist in the document but there is nothing on them except for the margins i had in place. And when I try to copy and paste a previous page onto one of these pages nothing happens, yet i can manipulate the margins on that page yet do nothing else.
Have lost quite a bit of work, i can make it again easily enough but just curious if anyone else is experiencing the same things with CS6? My boss is now considering using the cloud as my indesign is constantly crashing ....

What did you create on these page?
What did you place? Text, images?
If images, what file type?
If images, did you link them or did you embed them or how have you imported them? Describe your steps.
