Locking/Protecting Playlists

Hi There
I would really like to know if it is possible to lock or protect a playlist so that it cannot be deleted? I tend to really want to listen to my playlists when i come in after a bit of a night out, but this has led to me rather frustratingly deleting a playlist or two.
any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
cheers.

It's not possible to lock a Playlist but you can try a little simple work-around.
If you right-click the playlist name you'll see the "Export Song List" option, wich will let you create a .txt file with the name of the songs on the playlist.
You can keep your .txt files so, if for some reason you lose your playlist, check them and be able to recover it knowing what it had inside.
There is also a "Burn To Disc" feature but this would require to to burn as many discs as playlists you have.

  • Locking/Protecting cells

I am new to this forum, therefore I apologize if I cross the rules here as I am sure this has been asked before, however I can not see a search feature on my screen to search past posts.
I am trying to lock/protect certain cells, rows and columns so that poeple are unable to change them in the template. Is this possible in Numbers? I know how to do this in Excel... hoping there will be a way in Numbers

Numbers does not have an equivalent feature to cell-locking. The closest that you can come to this is to lock an entire Table. You can get creative and divide input and output between unlocked and locked tables, and you can abut the tables to make them look like a single table. Next best is to protect the formula cells by placing a clear shape over them and locking the shape.

  • Request for feature or does anyone know how to lock a playlist

I have a touchscreen which causes problems when selecting a playlist as it sometimes drops the list on playlist above or below thus duplicating the tracks into that playlist...nice feature but tedious if you do not want it to happen, let the kids at it for five minutes and bye bye nice playlists.
Whilst this feature is useful when wanted, when not (99% of the time in my case) it is aggravating as I have to tidy up the playlists frequently to put them back.
Either to be able to lock the playlists or have a setting to control that behaviour would be nice.
The only way I have figured round it is to put the tracks on a remote machine and share them as you can not mess with those playlists, now if only I had another machine to do that with...
    Michael.

There is a somewhat clunky way to do it. First, go into your mail (Settings - Mail/Contacts/Calendars) and turn off (dont' disable) any accounts you don't want to be seen. Then go into Restrictions - Accounts and select "Don't Allow Changes." This will prevent anyone from turning the mail back on. When you're ready to turn it back on, go into Restrictions and either Disable Restrictions or go into Accounts and select Allow Changes.

  • Locking iTunes Playlists

Every once in a while when I'm on iTunes I accidentally delete a playlist. I've tried doing undo (command + Z) and had no luck. Is there any way to "lock" the playlists so I can't delete them by accident?
    Thanks,

    No.

  • Passcode lock protection" prior to power-off for mobile Apple devices

I would like to make a suggestion for an enhanced security operating procedure for Apple devices, with the purpose of detecting a device after it has been stolen.
This idea has occurred to me after an unfortunate personal experience. In particular, two months ago there was an incident where my backpack with four Apple devices belonging to myself and my wife (two iphones and two ipads) was stolen.
Immediately after the theft, within the next 10 minutes, I managed to gain access to a computer.
Although I had activated the service “find my iphone” and “find my ipad” respectively, I soon found out that the devices were already offline, which means that the first thing that the thieves did was to power them off.  Please note that all devices were “passcode lock protected”.
The enhanced security proposal I would like make is the following:
A command to be added to the operating system according to which, in order to be able to power-off the device, the user will have to give the valid passcode. In other words, I am suggesting a “passcode lock protection” prior to power-off and not just prior to power-on. By means of this arrangement, and as long as batteries last, the stolen devices may be located.
    Thank you for your time.
    Best regards

2nd: if i already burn it into a CD, how do I make sure its hard(if posible prevent 100%) for the others to copy, but they still can acces the file?I did try few software it did lock the CD but also lock the application and cant be acces...

  • Can I lock/save playlists (make them harder to be deleted!)

Hi i was wondering if it is possible to lock/save my playlists so that they can't be deleted very easily.
I keep deleting carefully put together playlists by mistake.(stupid I know!!)
No warning is ever given and they disappear leaving me to put them all back together again.

Playlist can't be locked, however, you can export them individually as a text file (file menu>export - the file will be named same as the playlist.txt. If you lose one, simply reimport it using the import command (file menu>import). I suggest creating a separate folder in your iTunes folder titled "Playlist" and keep the .txt files there for future need.

1- in my phone when i go to: Setting - securtiy settings - phone security,,, then enter the code (12345) and active it (ON),,, the phone still just request the (PIN Number) without another protection,,, and when i remove my SIM card there is no protection code requests and the phone start in normal...... that in my phone ((Nokia 107))
*So What is that Phone security option...??!!!
*How can i lock my phone with password at its start??!!
    =============================================================================
2- in my phone (Asha 303) when i go to: setting - security,,,, i didnt find ((phone protection)) option Basically...!!,,,, but when i go to (Change Acess Codes) i find ((Security code)) but what is the benefit of changing it as there isnt option to active it???
*Note: here when i try to change that security code its also 12345 (as default old number)....
*** Also what is the ((Security module)) option i found in my Asha 303 security option, and how to use it??

    Hi Moron,
Setting up the security keyguard is one of the options for you to protect your phone from anyone who will access your phone. Another option is to download an app that allows you to protect your phone as well. You may try to search it from the Nokia Store. Here's the link:

  • Lock / Protect Tracks Button?

Hi everyone. I have a few tracks with the "lock" button selected, and I noticed if I try to change something on the track/regions in the tracks via a command (for example, change the region color so regions colors match tracks, or change the NAME of the regions to match the tracks names, etc.) I get a dialog box that the track is protected/locked and no changes can be made, with a CANCEL button. I hit CANCEL, and the CHANGES HAPPEN ANYWAY! What's the deal with this button, does it only work on/prevent certain commands? Let me know, thanks

I experienced the same strange behaviour.
I would call this a bug or a not well implemented feature.
    Send a feedback to Apple.

  • How to lock  (protect) a cell

I've a cell with a formula, that i want to be locked just to give the result, but i don't find that option. can anyone help me? Thanks

Not a problem here as far as I can tell. When does it revert back? Does it not take at all or does it revert back when you type a new date/time in the cell or does it revert back when you close/reopen the document? Or are you expecting the time format you chose for one cell to become a global setting and apply to any new cells in which you enter date/time values? If so, it doesn't work this way. It would be great if it did, especially if you could add recursion and scripting.
You might try it with a new document and see if it works there.
What do you mean by "saving formulas", do you mean you would like to write your own custom functions that you could then choose from the function browser or type in (i.e., function name and a few parameters, like the built-in functions)? If that's what you are asking, Numbers doesn't have it.
On a side note, it is better to start new a thread for a new question unrelated to the message topic. It makes it easier for others to find it later.

  • Locked/protected gallery albums viewed on Touch's Safari

I have a number of albums published on my MobileMe gallery. Some of these are protected. When I try to view them on my Touch, it prompts me to login with the name/password. I type that in and press "login". The login screen flashes off for about 1/2 second in which time you can see the album start to load. Then the login screen pops back up again. It continues in this cycle, always asking me to login and then cycling back to the screen again. Even clicking cancel on the login screen doesn't break the cycle--the login screen pops back up again.
Not only can I never view the protected album, but the only way "out" is to quit Safari and return to the home screen. Then opening Safari again takes you back to the login screen with no way of closing out the page completely.
Is anyone else having problems viewing password protected albums?
Any ideas of how to quit the page? The only option that I've found at this point is by clicking on a Safari page that I'd saved as an icon button. By clicking on this to get into Safari, I can then click the # page icon at the bottom of the Safari page so that it would let me scroll between my open Safari pages and then close the one for the gallery.
If I hadn't had a Safari page saved to the home screen, I'm not sure how I would have gotten out of the loop.

Hey I ran into this too and tried the old gallery.mac.com/luvinmc address and it worked against my password albums. I wonder if this is working for anyone else?

  • Locking/protecting environment values ?

The manual recommends that you never assign two audio objects to the same channel.
Wow... I did that by accident today, and it's horribly confusing. I created two channel strips assigned to the same output track, and it's a mess--you get two channel strips with different names, so they look like two different objects in the track mixer, but they're effectively the same object. Any changes to one of the objects (fader, pan, insert, etc.) take effect on both objects.
I can't think of a reason why anyone would ever want this behavior. Maybe someone else can ? Actually, I don't really understand what is to be gained by having an adjustable channel assignment for a track object, anyway. Is there some power here that I'm not seeing ? Would Logic lose functionality if it forced all track objects to be assigned to unique channels ?
I'm new to Logic, so I'm looking for any tips in how to avoid shooting myself in the foot with arrange tracks, audio objects, and output channels.
As best I can tell, once I create a track assigned to an audio object, I am almost never going to want to change that audio object assignment. And I can't see why I would EVER want to change the output channel assigned to a track object.
Is there some way to lock these settings so they aren't easily changed by an errant mouse click in the arrange window ? I want to leave the object parameters visible so I can change the instrument name easily, but having those object and channel settings immediately available to be changed seems like a problem waiting to happen. If either of those settings gets changed to match another arrange track, I'm likely to have what are effectively overlapping regions, so I'll stop hearing regions that are still visible in the arrange window.
Is there any way to lock these settings so they can't be screwed up once they're set ?
Alternatively, is there any way to get Logic to identify audio objects that are incorrectly assigned to the same output channel ? And is there any way to get Logic to identify audio regions that aren't literally "overlapping" on the same arrange track, but are nevertheless still effectively "overlapping" because they're assigned to the same audio object ? I'd like to be confident that everything I see in the arrange window is actually going to play, and it seems like there are a bunch of ways this can go wrong.
I'm new to Logic, and I'm still getting a feel for the workflow--thanks for any tips!

I was also wondering if it made sense to rename the
environment object, or just add a track name. It
    seems
like it will be less confusing to keep the
    environment
object as created: Audio 1, Audio 2, Instrument 1,
    Instrument 2.
That's the way I like it, but other tastes differ. I
like to know on what and where I'm putting my audio,
but I have seen other people not care about this -
they just find a free track, regardless of where it
    is and of they go.
Interesting--my concern is that since the output channels can still be changed easily, the default instrument names (Audio 1, Audio 2, etc.) seem less useful to me. i.e. your object might be called "Audio 1," but that doesn't necessarily bear any relation to anything physical inside or outside the computer. Maybe I'm not conscientious enough about managing my tracks, but the way I see it, I really shouldnly RELY on the instrument names to reflect channel assignments if this is something that I (or any musician touching the computer during a break...) can easily screw up. I'm leaning toward naming the objects with typical track names ("Lead VOX," etc.), especially since that gives me meaningful audio file naming without the need for separate track names (Use Audio Object Name for File Name).
But, the saving grace in all of this for me may be "Create Multiple..."
"Create Multiple" does exactly what I WISH "Create with Next Instrument" would do (too bad the names are ambiguous): "Create Multiple" creates a new track (or several) with an unused instrument--it grabs an object out of the Environment if one exists, and it creates a new object if the Environment doesn't have one. Perfect! ("Create with Next Instrument" may or may not assign an unused instrument--that's not very useful in my opinion... seems to me that when you need a new track, you very clearly want either a used instrument or an unused instrument--you don't want uncertainty, or to have to reference the Environment to see what instruments exist...)
Anyway, since I found I can set the default inputs and outputs for objects in the "Audio Configuration," I'm thinking maybe there isn't much point in having extra objects in the Environment at all. Just use "Create Multiple" to create a new track, and you automatically get a new, unused output object. Simple. And the "Create" command works great when you want a new "take" for an existing instrument.
As a new user to Logic, I was left with the impression that the "right" way to work is to create enough objects in the Environment to handle most expected work. But for audio and instrument tracks, personally, I'm thinking it's WAY less confusing just to use "Create Multiple" to create tracks and objects only as I need them, rather than to start with a "big job" environment as created by the Setup Assistant.
Hey, this frustrated me for a while, and I found a solution that is working for me, so I thought I'd share, in case anyone else finds it useful.
There is one problem, though--I haven't figured out how to control which Environment layer gets the objects made by "Create Multiple"... I'll post a separate question about that.
Thanks for all the advice, Bee Jay, and iSchwartz!

  • Why doesn't the 'lock/protect' tab work anymore?

This used to work until about a week ago, now it shows as being active, but it no longer works.

Is this for Tab Mix Plus? It does not seem to be a normal Firefox option. Do you have the latest version of Tab Mix Plus?

  • Lock playlists in iTunes.

Is there a way to do that, or somehow bring back the "are you sure you want to delete this playlist" message box?
I sometimes delete playlists on accident(or my brother does) and when I do that I want to scream at the top of my lungs.

There's no way I know of to lock a playlist. You may want to back up your playlists on a regular basis in case you delete one accidentally.
