Locking text messages

I don't have any options to lock my text messages on the Droid X, is there something I'm missing?

I assume that you are using the stock messaging app. If so, there is not an option for locking messages although it will not delete until you reach 200 messages per person (unless you have modified that setting). Handcent app which is what many people use for texting has the option for locking messages as well as many other options that the built in app does not offer.

Any way to lock text message forwarding?

I need to monitor my son's phone activity. I've already set up restrictions, locked out the app store to keep him from downloading other texting/messaging apps, and locked user account changes for imessages. I set up text forwarding so that any messages he gets I'm getting too, but I don't see any way to lock it so he can't turn that off. Am I missing something or does Apple not provide that in their parental controls? I want him to be able to text, I just want to make sure I'm able to monitor the content. Another option would be if there's a way to prevent him from deleting his messages so I can look at them on the phone? Thanks

No, you cannot prevent turning off Forwarding in the Messages app, nor prevent deleting messages.

Locke text messages on a iPhone 5

Can a text messages be locked on a iPhone 5?
I used to love this function on my Verizon cell phone, so I would keep messages for as long as I wanted.

What do you mean text message be locked?

Lock Text Messages Application

I do not know how many people have brought this up before, but I hate letting people look at my phone because i am always jittery about someone reading my messages. I think there should a way (software, firmware, or applicaton) as to where locks could be placed on certain apps instead of having to lock the whole iPhone. anyone can post ideas,comments, or any info on the subject. Also- i do of apps like that for jailbroken iPhone but i want a resolution that does not involve any disassembly of any kind.

BTW, this will break any application that uses idleTimerDisabled since receiving a txt msg or calendar even will sleep the app. This includes those apps like alarm clocks, clocks, security apps, etc. I would have expected more interest in this topic.

Lock text message

Android has this feature to lock SMS from being deleted.
If my friend, Tom, sent me 100 SMS. Lets say 90 of them are gossip messages and 10 of them are important messages. I want to be able to lock those 10 from being deleted. And do a mass delete for any messages sent from Tom. Thus, leaving those 10 in my phone memory when I pull up the Messages screen and find his name.
With the current iOS6, I see that you can Clear All or mark specific ones for Delete. With the Lock option, once a I get a message that I want to keep, I can use the Lock feature. And a week later when I accumulate a whole bunch of gossip type messages, I can use the Clear All function and leave only the one that is Locked from being deleted.

What is your question?
The feature you are referring to does not exist in iOS.

Text message lock

Why is there no option to lock text messages on the iPhone I do lock my phone but I also used to let other people use it because they want to see how it works but I can't lock the text MSG so I won't let. Is there any app out there that would allow to password protect my text MSGs I would pay greatly for this app and I know others would aswell

All of you are free to provide feedback through the official channels but voicing your frustration here won't go very far as they don't look here when developing the software. I can kind of see where you're coming from but nearly all of my friends have the iPhone and no one has ever really brought this up as a concern or missing feature...
In the meantime your best bet is to just set a lock passcode for the phone itself.

I am about to upgrade from a samsung alias 2 to an iPhone 5 and want to transfer voicemails and locked text messages over. Can anyone help me figure out how to do this?

You can try bitpim to get your text messages off the old phone, but I don't know if they will transfer to the iphone. Verizon has a company that you can contact to transfer you voicemail messages to CD. There is a charge for the service though.

When I go to the "messages" setting under settings on my phone, I still don't see an option of turning it off.

After I upgraded my iphone 4 with the ios 7.1.1 it locks up sending text messages. It will send a few, then mid conversation I will have to turn my phone off and back on, sometimes a few times, before it will allow me to send or receive messages again.

I can usually send a few then will have to restart my phone(often more than once) to get it to send and receive messages again. I have done a back up and complete reset and that has not fixed the problem. Have been told that the ios 7.1.1 just isn't compatible with the Iphone 4 so that's why it is locking up so often, but I am hoping someone else may have a better answer since it can't be undone. 7.1.1 is certainly compatible with the iPhone 4. Just try a reset first.
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
