Locking the formatting only

Hello, I have searched through the forums but didn't find an answer that directly related ...
I am putting together an employee schedule with multiple shifts per day, per person.
To help staff differentiate between different shifts, I have made each shift cell different colours (morning shift pink, midday blue, evening yellow).
To help make scheduling easier as I will be doing this each week, I would like to be able to copy and paste from cell to cell. My problem is that it not only copies the value but the formatting (colour) as well. I do not want to have to either change the colour each time after I paste a value, or have to retype the same info over and over.
also, I will not be the only one inputting values and the other users may not be able to figure out these little intricacies.
I have saved the original as a template so can I just lock the formatting on the template so as not to mess with the colours?

Nor am I, although I was having almost as much trouble as you doing this tonight.
What eventually worked was this (if my mental notes are accurate):
Opened a new document and used the default table as the original.
Duplicated to table to use as the 'real' table.
Set fill of various groups of cells on the original to a variety of colours.
Set the fill of the copy to None, using the Fill color well on the format bar.
Dragged the copy over the original.
As you note, the 'unfilled' cells blocked the colours in the original table underneath.
Tried a variety of things and eventually achieved a transparent table using a color fill (yellow) and setting opacity to 0.
But then..
I put in a formula to place some values in the cells. It probably worked, but I couldn't see it. The Opacity control had made both the fill colour and the text colour transparent. Interesting, but not useful!
So I deleted the copy and made a new duplicate of the (now multi coloured) original.
I entered the formula into A1, copied, selected all the cells and Pasted.
The paste put the formula (and the fill colour of cell A1) into all cells and showed the results.
All of the cells were still selected, and the Inspector was open, so I used the Graphics Inspector (instead of the fill color well) to set the Fill to None. BINGO!
The text remained black, the cells became transparent, and the colours of the original table showed through where the copy overlapped the original.

PS: The difference in order of construction of the tables shouldn't make a difference. I used the original for the coloured copy only to save moving it to the bottom of the stack.

[Solved] Gnome: Locking the screen only locks one of two monitors

Hey guys,
I'm using Arch for quite a while and I am really happy with it. Today I faced a problem, which no one else seems to have. At least, I wasn't able to find any infos on the net:
When locking the screen, gnome only locks my primary monitor. I cannot only see the windows on my secondary screen, but also use them with the mouse (but not with the keyboard).
Does anyone have an idea, how to solve this or how to find out, what could cause the problem?
I'm using the current versions of Gnome and the nvidia drivers and only one graphics card with one dvi and one hdmi port.
I happily provide more infos, if needed.

Since this was introduced with the current version of gnome-screensaver and since this is a crucial feature (at least for me at work) I did the following to get it working again, until there is fix:
Download and install the previous version of gnome-screensaver (here: x86_64):
wget "http://schlunix.org/archlinux/extra/os/x86_64/gnome-screensaver-3.4.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz"
pacman -U gnome-screensaver-3.4.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
Prevent pacman from upgrading gnome-screensaver, with adding the following to /etc/pacman.conf:
IgnorePkg = gnome-screensaver
When there is a fix, just remove "gnome-screensaver" from "IgnorePkg" and update your system as usual.

Locking upon startup only

Hi,
The lockscreen is too cumbersome since I have to enter the unlock code again and again when the iPod auto locks. I'd like to have a lock code that is requested only once upon startup, like the PIN code of my phone. Is there any way to do that or any app providing this feature?

I think this would be a nice addition to iOS. Locking the iPod only upon startup would be a good compromise.

how do I get The ipad locked to run only one application for customers (just one web app, or video- instructions, or just safari). What I really want is that my customers to only use one app that has all my services. It is an interactive app so I would not like them to go surfing elsewhere while they are in my store.

The conventional ways of doing this, such as using turning off the SMS preview under the "passcode lock", well that option no longer exists, or if it does, I'm somehow missing it.
When I go to the "messages" setting under settings on my phone, I still don't see an option of turning it off.
If I can just get the name of the person sending the message, as I had it before, I'd be happy.

When adding music to iTunes, you can set it to either make a local copy of the file, or simply point to the original location of the file (for example, on an external hard drive). If it is set to do the latter, it will not be able to play or transfer those files when the external hard drive is not plugged in. You may find the following article helpful:

EPM Formatting Sheet Issue - Right click on the cell and lock the cell

Dear Experts,
I have come across an issue. Earlier I worked on BPC NW 10 integrated with Ms Excel 2007. I applied a feature of locking the cell linked with specific member in Input Template and Report by going to EPM Formatting Sheet, selecting dimension member (Which I want to lock in Input Sheet and Report), right clicking on the cell under Data Column and selecting the option "Lock the Cell". As I protect my Input sheet and Report, and do refresh, the cell linked with specific dimension member get locked. Hope everyone has used this feature.
Now I have Ms Excel 2013 installed in system. I am not able to find this feature. if anyone has tried this feature in BPC NW 10 with Ms Excel 2013. Please help me out. As this was good feature by BPC.

I am using Excel 2013, When I checked, I did not find "Lock Option". When I was using Excel 2007, then I had this locking option. below are the details that you asked for...
When I right click on cell in EPM formatting sheet, I get options as shown below in screen shot, but there is no "Lock Option"

Chris thanks for your reply, if none of the Do Not Disturb settings are switched on - then am I right that this setting will have no effect. I.e. I want my phone to ring at all times, so have turned off all of the do not disturb settings

Lock the table by user with grant only for select

Hallo.
It is possible that the user has rights only for SELECT, do not lock the table? Now, where do "SELECT * FROM table FOR UPDATE", does not make the change, but it locks the entire table, and another user to get into it.

I want to force a student to communicate using an ipad communication app. I want the only thing on the screen to be that one app. How do I lock the app so it is the only one that can be used on the ipad? Is there a way to lock a page? ie when he has navigated to the correct page to prevent the child from exiting and make him make a choice from that page?

You can lock an iPad to a given app via Guided Access:

To try and lock a web browser to a single page you'll need to investigate third-party browsers such as MobiCIP or the McGruff browser and see if they allow you to lock to a single page. Safari in iOS 6 or earlier has no controls and in iOS 7 allows you to restrict to a given site or set of sites but not to a single web page.

No. Not without access to a computer running iTunes. You do want to use your own computer so that you can restore from your backup and sync your own content back from iTunes.

Locking the 16:9 Widescreen format?

If I had a 16:9 Widescreen video placed into iDVD properly, with a widescreen menu too, is there a way to "lock" the widescreen format so if a person watched my dvd on a 4:3 tv (standard tv), they would see it with a letterbox, no matter if the dvd player was set on PS (Pan and Scan) or Letterbox? In other words, can iDVD preserve the widescreen format so that it CANNOT be cropped on a dvd player? When I used iDVD 06, I created multiple widescreen dvds which I gave to friends, however, they complained that the video seemed cropped and the text was sometimes cut off. I assume they had their dvd player set to PS (Pan and Scan), which crops a 16:9 video and makes it 4:3, thus cutting off the sides. I like the multiformat of iDVD, especially when my widescreen dvd's actually play correctly on a widescreen tv, however, is their a way to lock it widescreen for a 4:3 tv, and keep it widescreen for a 16:9 tv??? The usual drill is to set the project preset to match the properties of your source media so that the program is directed to set up the right space in the Edit area monitor for editing purposes. So, if you have 4:3 format, then your project preset would probably be NTSC DV Standard or it PAL counterpart.
But, under the circumstances, look at this idea....
Open your Premiere Elements 12 project to the Expert workspace and make sure that the project preset is the default 1080i30
NTSC
AVCHD
Full HD1080i30
or its PAL counterpart
Import your 4:3 video into the project with Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag your video to the Expert workspace Timeline.
Click on the screen so that you see a bounding box around the image there and drag on the bounding box handles to scale the image just to display in the screen with no black borders.
Publish+Share/Social Websites/YouTube with preset = High Definition Video for YouTube 1920 x 1080.
What does that look like once it is uploaded to YouTube 16:9?
The idea goes against the grain if you are starting with 720 x 480 (or PAL counterpart 720 x 576) and taking it to 1920 x 1080. But see if you can get away with it.
In your scheme of things, are black borders acceptable. What I am asking you to try ends up with 16:9 with no black borders. But I am not too comfortable with the SD to HD.
Please review and then let us know the outcome.
