  • IPad radom app closure & locked wifi

Does anybody have any insite or suggestions regarding the random app closures and wifi lock ups?
Currently using an iPad Air celluar with iOS 8.0.2 and seeing apps closing at random and not opening back up to where they left off. While annoying while at home it creates a bit of a situation when flying and I lose an approach chart while on final. Also, the option of rebooting while in the cockpit because I've lost connectivity to a piece of equipment that provides weather and traffic from the FAA (ADS-B in) is a really poor choice.
Unless these issues get resolved ASAP it's back to paper charts.

It's not region locked, the country for the stores (iTunes, App Store, iBookstore) will be picked up from the country on your iTunes account, not where it was bought. If you will be using it in India the stores will pick up the Indian store from your Indian billing address on your account.
You won't have problems updating the iOS, that is also not dependent upon where the iPad was bought and subsequently used. All you may need is to be a plug adapter to be able to charge it from the mains.
An iPad doesn't have international warranty, so if you have problems with it you may have to return it to the country of purchase - with a wifi-only iPad you may be ok, but you may not be covered for it in India

  • My ipod 5th gen cannot connect to any locked wifi servers, it is under a year old, and im wondering if it is a technical prob, can i get i fixed or replaced

WiFi problems I think.... Should I bring it to a store to get it checked out?  Whenever I type my password for the WiFi connection, it always says its incorrect and I sometimes can't even connect to the unlocked WiFi servers too

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Can I set the iPhone to ignore my neighbour's locked WiFi Network?

I know you can set the iPhone to "forget" a network you've previously joined. But, how about my neighbour's network that's locked, that I've never joined, and keeps prompting me to join it? Can I tell the iPhone to ignore it?
I know I can choose to turn “Ask to Join Networks” on or off but I want to leave it on for when I'm out and about.
    Thanks.

Maybe if enough people voice the request for this feature, Apple will finally implement it. Add one more user to that list.
It seems backwards to me that you can only "forget" a network that you have already joined. Why would I want to do that?? I want to "forget" the annoying secured network next door that I CAN'T join, because it pops up and asks me every single day of my life, and I want to block it while still automatically joining unsecured networks. If Apple can't figure out how to do that, then they should at least add the option to ignore secured networks.

  • Locked wifi requiring email and password to connect

I'm on site at a customer location (very large) and they give me access. No problem with my laptop, but the Ipad will not join. I need to enter my email address plus their password. I'm on wifi, choose network and then when I click it only asks for the password. I enter it and click join, it then says unable to join network. I need to somehow enter my email address plus the password to join. Any ideas how to fix this? I've even looked at the manual proxy settings to enter my email and password there. Nothing has worked so far.

    None of this will help....
    1. Some orgs. ( like where I used to work) simply do not want pads on their system.  They can tell device type, and they may simply be blocking the pad.
    2.  On my pad in that kind of logon situation, usually a windows will spawn, giving me the fields to I put to get the access.  Is this happening?
    3. If they have a log on screen written in flash, it will never appear on the pad.
You are likely not the first iPad they have had to deal with, the shortest way to resolution may be to ask your host to give his it guys a call.   If there is a way, they will know.

  • Locking Wifi access on Ipad

I'm planning on using a few Ipads in my classroom but one concern I have is that they can access the wireless info. Most of my student wouldn't know where to look for the info but some are tech savy enough to find it and exploit it. Is there a way to prevent them from being able to view the wifi info in the settings? I looked in the parental controls and haven't been able to find anything.  Any help would be huge.  Thanks

If there is a router in the room or you have access to the router, set up the "Guest" network and use that.
Keep your Ipad on the main wifi connection.
Use security on the main wifi and dont give that info to them.
The "Guest" wifi also setup security and only give that to your students. This info will work its way around but change it once a week, month or when a new class comes in. You also can restrict the guest network and allow a certain amount of connections (24 students in class - 24 connections)
Hope that helps, if not its something to look at.
    Good luck

  • TS1398 After I lock my iphone, WiFi Deactive? and my WiFi active after I unlock my phone.

After I lock my iphone, WiFi Deactive and my WiFi active after I unlock my phone again. After I updated iOS 6 to iOS 6.0.1 the problem happen. How Can I fix the problem?

There is nothing to fix. The iPhone does this by design. If not connected to power, a short period of time after the iPhone locks, wifi goes to sleep. It has been this way from the very beginning.

  • How do I get my ipod back on the school wifi after being kicked off?

My school has password locked wifi, which every student knows the password to. Every so often, they kick people's iPod's off the wifi and it won't ever connect. Not during school, not football games or basketball games, not ever again. It really ticks me off because my iPod was kicked off today. I don't get on a lot during school but I do tweet and facebook during ball games. Is there a way to override/avoid the block? Could I maybe reset the iPod or the network settings? Or change something in the settings that'll let me back in? Thanks.

There is nothning you can do on your end unless you want to purchases a device like this

Please help! My partner has taken my old phone but we cant get it to join our wifi network a home - it wont request or prompt for the password...My iphone 4S works and joins the same network so it must be within distance to the router...we cant work it out.
Can anyone suggest what to do. We have turned on and off the router, the phone, and checked most things. It lists the locked wifi network but the message says ' Unable to join network'.
    Many thanks

    Hello cwestnutt,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with Wi-Fi on your iPhone.  You have taken some really good steps to troubleshoot this issue already.  I found an article that includes a few additional steps you can try.  You can skip any steps you have already taken.
I recommend reviewing the full article but the section titled "Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network" specifically stands out to me for the issue you described:
Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network
Verify that you're attempting to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Make sure you're entering your Wi-Fi password correctly. Passwords may be case sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings

  • N900 wifi critical issue

I'm having so much trouble using wifi. and I spent two weekends figuring out a workarround of my problem.
When Ever I go out of range or switch off my wifi router while my n900 conntected to it. After some time it gives the following error in dmesg.
[44597.423706] wl1251: ERROR timeout waiting for the hardware to complete
    initialization
After this error if I do a top in terminal it shows wlancond is taking 100% of cpu. rmmod and sudo gainroot hang the terminal.
I raised my voice in maemo bugzilla and forum, no one seems to care about this issue.
I reflash my device with all the old and latest glabal and US n900 images and the issue is there. Can any one alteast let me know if it's a hardware fault so I can send this device back to nokia?
I tried with power setting disabled also nothing seems to be resolving my issue.
I tried different open and locked wifi router in office and back home cisco, netgear... you name it.
    help me out plz.

Please check the last post in this bug:
    https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6416
restart solves this problem. but for the time being. If I move again or if I shutdown my wifi router, the problem appears again.
I did what I can to make sure I'm not missing any thing... from reflashing to different kernel module compilation. but nothing worked.
Another full day spent and with no clue and help what I need to do next.

  • Do I link iTouch 2 my home computer's Linksys 2 use wifi feature of iTouch?

Can someone tell me how to use the wifi feature of my iTouch? Here's what I've tried when I go to the iTunes store on my iTouch. After touching iTunes, it says to Select a WiFi Network. We have our computer wireless via Linksys so our locked wifi is the option I chose. When I select our wifi, it asks to Enter A Password for our wireless whatever you call it. Here's where I'm lost. I've tried entering 3 different possibilities...our admin password, our password phrase & the network key. Apparently, none of those is what I'm supposed to enter because none of those has worked. It gives the message "Unable to join" our own wireless network. Now, I know nothing about our wireless hookup...my brother did it for me & he doesn't have an iPod/iTouch to help me out w/ the info. Obviously, simple instructions are best for my limited knowledge. Thanks!

You are doing everything correctly so far, except for I imagine entering in the encryption key for your wireless connection. Log into the config pages for your wireless router. You do this by entering in the ip address of the router into your web browser on your pc. If you have a typical setup the router address will be either http://192.168.1.1/, or http://192.168.0.1/ . This will bring up a log - in screen for your router, leave the username blanc. If your brother changed the password enter in the password he set, otherwise the default password is probably admin, or Admin . Go to the wireless security section from the config pages and look at what type of encryption is being used, WEP, or WPA. If its wpa just write down the passphrase used, make sure you copy it correctly, capitals count. If it is using WEP write down the hex key that is generated, if there are more than one always use key 1. It will be either exactly 10 characters long, or 26 characters long. The characters used are only a-f and numbers 0-9. While in the router check also for a tab or section entitle MAC address filtering, or something of the sort. If this is turned on, easiest thing to do is to just turn it off, it doesn't do much security wise, and if encryption is set that is more than good enough. If you do make any changes in the routers config pages, make sure you save the changes by hitting the save or accept button. You should be able to select your network on your ipod now, and enter in either the WPA password, or if using WEP encryption, the 10 or 26 character hex key. Let us know if your still having problems.
