Lockup due to camera usage

i have been experiencing hard lockups due to camera usage such as whilst using skype or googletalk.
PC suddenly freezes and there is no other way to do anything other than holding down the power button to force shutdown. Does anyone else have this issue? How to resolve it?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a kernel bug. You are probably best off reporting it to the developers of your webcam module.

  • Production order variances due to missing usages of overheads

    Hi Team
    We have noticed production order variances due to missing usages of overheads (labour, personnel, consumables, scrap). Where do those kind of variances come from and how they can be prevented/corrected.
    Br, Kiran Unde

    Hi Kiran,
    This is because those Activity Types are not entered during Confirmations for Production Order. To correct those field, you need to perform Confirmation and enter the values for those Activities.
    To prevent this in the future and to ensure those fields are entered during confirmation, you can do the following:
    Make the system propose values for Activities automatically based on Standard Values.
    Go to transaction OPK4
    Select appropriate Order Type and Plant
    Select tab "Individual Entry of Operation with Initial Screen"
    In the "Services" section, tick "Propose"
    Make the fields mandatory
    Go to transaction CO86
    Set related Activity to Confirm fields as mandatory by placing the radio button under "Req" column

    I'm sure that it will be possible in some way or other. In QuickTime you are suppose to have an input selection for you video recording device (under preferences) but I do know about iChat yet. Perhaps when my iMac DC arrives, I'll try hooking up my DV camera and seeing what I can do. After all, the external iSight is just a firewire camera.

  • Need help ASAP (Camera usage)

    Hi guys!
    I'll get right to it... I'm brand new in Adobe After Effects, but I think I've adapted to it greatly thus far, but I'm stuck on one thing.
    I'm following this tutorial from from AETuts+:
    http://ae.tutsplus.com/tutorials/motion-graphics/design-rhythmic-motion-typography-in-afte r-effects/
    I've done everything in the tutorial correctly so far, but I'm stuck at the part at 10:05 into the video.
    I have everything set up like he does in the tutorial. I created my camera, my null object, linked the camera to the null object, set my text and null object for 3D, etc, etc.
    However, notice how in the video when he slides the camera position to zoom in, mine will NOT do that for some reason. On my version of CS5 my screen looks almost exactly like his does, but when I click on my Null Object, hit "P" and scroll it to make the camera zoom in my words, it just will NOT zoom in.
    I see a box on the outsize of my video that I believe is illustrating the zoom level of the camera, but that's the only thing that moves. It doesn't actually zoom in or out on the video itself.
    Here's a picture of my what my set up looks like right now:
    http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/6227/adobeae.png
    I'm in the middle of this tutorial, so any immediate responses are greatly appreciated! Thanks for the support.

    Sorry about the miscommunication. I'm replying from my iPhone. Siri doesn't get all the words right.
    I didn't mean to remove the parenting, I meant that sometimes people get the parenting the wrong way around. When posting screenshots it's much easier to just use the little camera icon at the top of this dialogue. Makes them easier to find.
    So here's the other thing that can be wrong. Your text is not a 3-D player. I am assuming the text is in the pre-comp. The pre-comp is a 3-D layer, but collapse transformations is on so your text is interpreted as what it is, a 2-D layer.
    Turn off collapse transformations, or leave the pre-cop a 2-D layer and make your and nested text layer 3-D. Or, if you really want you can have both of them 3-D layers.

    Well, I created a new Apple ID and I put money on it, I wanted to sign into ICloud and it wouldn't let me sign in due to making too many Apple IDs created. The point for logging into the ICloud was to save my photos before I reset my phone. Is there any way I could fix this? I also want to transfer my money because I think it's a waste to just forget about the $13.75 on my account. Thanks.

    I recently created a new apple ID
    Bad idea.
    Content bought with an Apple ID is forever associated with that Apple ID. Apple will not transfer content from one Apple ID to another and Apple will not merge Apple IDs. Unless you are prepared to forfeit all the previously purchased content and buy it all again with the new Apple ID, you will need to maintain the old ID to update and redownload your content.

  • JRE 1.5.0_11-b03 causes lockups, due to "activate control fix" ?

    We have a web application consisting of a varying number of Java applets. We are using a separate JavaScript file to load the applet into the HTML code, as a workaround for the "Click to activate control" issue. This seems to be causing problems:
    With the upgrade to JRE 1.5.0_11-b03, we began to recieve this error message:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.loadJarFiles(Unknown Source)
    at sun.applet.AppletPanel.runLoader(Unknown Source)
    at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
    This message will appear in about 1 out of 3 reloads of a given applet, and applet loading appears to be very slow. The applet will then run as normal, most of the times. But once in a while, maybe 1 out of 20-50 times, the JRE locks up and IE has to be shut down using Task Manager.
    The behaviour has been reproduced on all computers we have tested which have 1.5.0_11-b03 installed (more than 5 computers with different hardware and operating systems), and with two different applets (both use JavaScript to communicate with the user interface)
    When we remove the "Click to activate control" javascript workaround, everything seems to be running as normal, but we really don't want our customers to be forced to click to activate each of the maybe 5-10 applets that can be in a single web page.
    Error and lockup reproduced on five computers having:
    Hardware: Misc. computers, both laptops and desktop computers.
    IE 7.0.5730.11
    Java 1.5.0_11-b03
    Using the previous Java 1.5.0_10-b03, everything ran smooth with no errors or lockups, even with the "Click to activate control" workaround enabled. (also IE 7-0-5730.11)
    This is becoming a real problem for us, as our customers are upgrading to the latest Java version and our application might hang randomly.

    I'm having the exact same problem!
    I've uninstalled JRE 1.5.0_11-b03 and I'm currently running 1.5.0_10-b03, which seems to work okay. But the problem is off course that our customers are upgrading to the latest JRE, which will cause the applet to randomly crash and the whole IE freezes up. Unfortunately, apart from the uninstall-fix, we havent been able to find any work-around for this issue
    Would be great if anyone could verify that this is a known bug, or at least give us a hint that more developers are struggling with this strange behavior.

  • Canon T1i and Speedlite 580EX for off camera usage

    I have a T1i and 580EX (not 580EX II) flash. I would like to use the flash of the camera. Would I need any other devices (trigger, transmitter)? If not, then could you give me the guide as how it is set. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the advice. Now if I were to have two 580EX flashes, one mounted on the camera and the other off the camera then the one on the camera will trigger the other, no other devices like Yongnuo 622 is needed, right?
    Correct.  See page 31 of the 580EX manual on how the wireless feauture works.  Here's a link to Canon's online copy of the manual:  http://downloads.canon.com/cpr/software/camera/580EX.pdf
    You can also use a Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2.  This unit is not a flash.. it's just a transmitter (it's basically a non-flashing "master" that can trigger any Canon "slave" unit.)  Having a 2nd flash is perhaps a bit more versatile (but also larger and heavier).
    You can tell a Speedlight flash in "master" mode that you don't want it to fire.  The point of having a flash "on" but telling it not to fire is that it will still work as a commander (master) to trigger your remote slave units.  You will actually see the flash fire if you watch it... but it's only firing the pre-flashes necessary to communicate with the slave units.  When the shutter opens to take the shot, only the slaves will fire -- not the master -- so your image wont be impacted by the light you see flashing from the master.
    E-TTL flash technically always fires twice... once to do the pre-flash and then again when the camera shutter opens to take a shot.  This happens so fast most people don't realize it fired twice.

  • My i pod got disabled due to continuous usage of wrong password

    my i pod touch got disabled due to several attempts of unlocking it with wrong passwords. please someone help me out resolve this problem.

    If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
    If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

  • PSCS2 lockup with 50% CPU usage - never comes back

    Hi, I've been trying to solve this very frustrating problem with no luck so far.
    When I'm using custom brushes, often Photoshop CS2 will lock up and just churn using about 50% CPU and never unlock.  I have to kill the photoshop process in task manager.
    The source images for the custom brushes are usually no larger than 150 to 200 pixels in diameter.  Is this too large?
    My computer is Intel Pentium IV with 1 Gig RAM running XP.
    I really hope someone can help me with this.  I haven't had any luck looking around the forums so far.
    I've tried playing around with the preferences file doing things like reducing the number of history states, changing the memory allocation number, deleting the preferences file, etc.  Nothing of that sort seems to work.
    Thanks in advance,

    Well, on your computer it is very likely too large. Sorry to say so, but the machine seems seriously inadequate for any kind of PS work and I definitely think that using excessively large brushes would kill it because the engine cannot accumulate and blend the individual "daubs" in memory before propagating them to the canvas as a stroke. In clearer words: You need much more RAM.

  • MX 7.01 Server Lockup due to down database

    We have two datasources
    A) Standard SQL database, in the same domain
    B) SQL database pulled accross a VPN.
    Then we have a two load balanced CF servers.
    We host multiple websites, one website (We'll call it Bob)
    connects to both database A and B
    The rest only connect to database A
    We recently had an issue where the database on the VPN
    machine (B) had a partial failure. It kept rebooting, so Coldfusion
    would have a connection, and then lose it.
    Now, when someone made a call on website Bob, the page would
    hang. We went in to the cf administrator on the server where the
    request took place, and verfied the database connections and CF
    would timeout on trying to connect to both datasources. But
    database A could successfully be accessed from the other server,
    and from Enterprise manager.
    So can anyone tell me why one database being down, would
    cause all other database connections to lock up, and what setting
    if any I can change to prevent this, because the only way I could
    get the machine to reconnect to the database was to restart the CF
    server.

    Yes, i can open the Coldfusion administrator connecting to
    port 8500.
    Please find attached part of system information.
    I do not think that there are parts of older installations
    remaining. I started with a fresh machine, then i installed apache
    2.2. first and cf 7.01 . Then i run into the trouble not beeing
    able to install the webserver connector. Then i deinstalled MX7.01
    and apache and instaled from my cd 7.0 and apache 2.0.58 because
    this was known to operate.
    I always got the message after installation that it would be
    impossible to install the connector because port 51011 would be
    blocked. I should install manually. When I tried this the error
    message was "there is no Jrun server running".
    So i deinstalled and deleted the rest of MX directories if
    necessary.rebooted and started then a next try for installallation.
    So I guess there are no remaining parts of other CF-installation.
    Definitevly nothing prior than MX7.

  • Detecting the optimal upload bandwidth of cam video stream (Dynamic Bandwidth Detection Approach)

    Hello folks,
    i am discovering the wide world of adobe technologies and i am impressed how seamless all is working.
    Anyway i have a tricky problem, at least it seems tricky to me. Here we go: i build up a client (camera+audio conferencing) streaming its camera right to my server (red5). Every client can see the camera streams of each connected particpant. So far so good all is working as expected, we can call this a conferencing solution. Now i would like to improve that by implementing some kind of automatic bandwidth detection in order to adjust the video resolution depending on the current bandwidth "situation" of every participant. Some might have stronger upload bandwidth, some might have a bad or even too low upload bandwidth to even up-stream their video. My client should be able to handle them individually. Those clients who have a good upload bandwidth should be able to up-stream their video in the most high resolution as possible regarding their bandwidth. For those clients having a bad upload connection i assume to reduce their video resolution automatically. The aim behind this automatic bandwidth detection should be to give the most priority to the audio streaming by taking care to not overhelming the bandwidth with heavy camera usage.
    I know there is upload speed tests (onBWCheck, etc), but i assume this test is annoying for the participants as well as they are not reflecting dynamic changes.
    So lets say i start with a default camera resolution of 640 x 480 px for every client. What i need to know is in general two informtion in order to judge about the current bandwidth is enough for the currently up-streamed camera video:
    1) the actual bandwidth used for the up-streaming camera video (based on specific resolution, quality and fps) which is of course dynamicly changing
    2) the max. needed bandwidth which is necessary to perfectly up-stream the camera video regarding the specific resolution, quality and fps of the camera settings
    So here is my current solutions:
    1) the actual bandwidth: every second the currentBytesPerSecond() method of the NetStreamInfo object is of my uploading stream is called to get the currently used bandwidth speed (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/NetStreamInfo .html#currentBytesPerSecond). The documentation says about the currentBytesPerSecond() method: Specifies the rate at which the NetStream buffer is filled in bytes per second. I understood from that phrase that literally this is the amount of bytes filled into the network depending on the current network situation. I tested this by using bandwidth limitation and in fact the currentBytesPerSecond() returns the dynamicly changed amount of bytes sent through the network. So thats pretty OK.
    2) the max. needed bandwidth: here i struggle. I have three principal ideas to know how much bytes/second are max. needed to up-stream the camera video to the server in a proper way:
    * either by experience, which means i manually make several tests to know the max. bytes/second needed for every possible specific resolution, quality, fps (i discovered that different cameras can even produce different results with the same camera settings!)
    * calculate the needed bytes/second (actually i use the H246 codec)
    * or finally the most crazy but maybe most proper solution: beside the up-stream to the server the client streams additionally to the same client application over the localhost network. I find this last attempt the most interesting because it gives very practicaly accurate result how much bytes must be send because almost the bandwidth of the network through the internet isnt used either. The client sends a stream to himself over the internal network IP (localhost, 127.0.0.1). To achieve this i tried to let the NetConnection being connected to localhost and null and publish the video. But the stream didnt worked. Here is my code:
              private function init():void {
                    nc = new NetConnection();
                    nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler);
                    nc.connect(null);
                    ns = new NetStream(nc);
                    ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler);
                    ns.client = {};
                    var camera:Camera = Camera.getCamera();
                    if (camera) {
                        videoDisplay.attachCamera(camera);
                    } else {
                        Alert.show("You don't seem to have a camera.");
                    ns.attachCamera(camera);
                    ns.publish("streamname");
                    mainTimer.addEventListener (TimerEvent.TIMER, onMainTimerTickHandler);
                    mainTimer.start();
                private function onMainTimerTickHandler (evt:TimerEvent): void
                    info.text += Number(ns.info.currentBytesPerSecond / 1000).toFixed(2) + " kBytes (OUT)\n";
                private function netStatusHandler(event:NetStatusEvent):void {
                    info.text += event.info.code+"\n";
    The result is a connection success, but the stream didnt send any data due to the fact that ns.info.currentBytesPerSecond returns 0. Also strange is that the NetSteam or NetConnection didn't return any error.
    So folks here i struggle and i ask does anyone out there have any hints or ideas how to solve this tricky one?
    Thanks in advance,
    Markus

    Thanks,I have read that article.  Based on that article the NetStreamInfo.maxBytesPerSecond is not an accurate measurement to base dynamic switching on. This seems to be the basis of the bitrate switching in both the longtail player, and the adobe examples that I have tried.   That article suggests using the dropped frames property, in conjunciton with bufferlength to determine if switching is neccessary.  Unfortunately I can't seem to find a player online which handles this successfully.  That being said, I can't believe I'm the only person trying to implement dynamic bitrate switching for live streams so surely there are some players out there which can do this successfully?  If anyone knows of any code available which does this successfully I would appreciate knowing where!  The examples provided by Adobe https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=fms35 unfortunately don't work either.

  • Really Apple? OSX 10.8.5 disables built-in camera functionality with third party apps such as Skype and Gmail video chat. I do not have time machine on my 2013 MB Air. How can I get back to 10.8.4?

    Really Apple?
    With the release OSX 10.8.5 Apple has once again showed its true colors, and continued its efforts to create a closed Apple system, which eliminates third party vendors, unless, one can only assume... they pay.
    Included in this OSX update is the disabling of the built-in camera to work with third party applications such as Skype and Gmail video chat. No surprise the camera works just fine with Apple apps such as Facetime and Photobooth.
    The answer I got on my call to AppleCare to ask for assistance in reinstalling 10.8.4, so that I may Skype again, was we can not do that. You can not go back unless you have a time machine bkup.
    Can anyone help me get back to to 10.8.4 on my 2013 MB Air?
    I do not have a time machine bkup as this computer is not used to store important documents.
