Lockup keyboard and mouse after Windows7 update

System: HP Pro 3135
Windows 7 Prof. 64 bit
Microsoft wired keyboard 600
Logitech mouse RX250
This problem starts at october 16th:
After automatic updates of Windows the keyboard and mouse locked. Only by start in secure mode, and return with widows system restore to an earlier point it is possible to activate keyboard and mouse again.
Now I switch off automatic updates, to prevent that the system hangs again.
The Microsoft forum is not clear about this error, could it be something in relation to the HP computer?
Any help is welcome.

Hi,
There were some issues with the last batch of critical/recommended Windows Updates this month.
One of the updates disabled USB 2.0 device drivers from a specific USB vendor. I have found a web reference that may explain what has happened to you. I think the update was removed from Windows Update. This article may shed some light on your problem.
You may want to install each update manually till you find the one causing your problem. Sadly, when you find it you will have to system restore again and avoid that update. Or Microsoft may have pulled the offending update.
Is it an HP issue only? Impossible to comment on.
I have updated four HP systems, a Dell laptop, and a custom built system with no issues.
You really don't want to disable future Windows Updates permanently.

    Hi,
Did you have touchpad to control the computer?
If so, I suggest you try to disable fast boot  to check the issue since this issue can be caused by failing to load drivers:

  • Ultraslim Plus keyboard and mouse issues with windows 8.1 (hesitation/jerkiness)

I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing issues with their Ultrslim Plus keyboard and mouse after the update to windows 8.1? Mine seems very hesitant missing lots of key presses and the mouse pointers movement accross the screen  is jerky. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers but it still isn't working like it was yesterday. Batteries for both show as 100% and nothing else has changed.

My mistake. I'd installed version 1.5, the updated version 1.8 (specifically mentions windows 8.1 on download link) works perfectly.

  • IMac crashes since new keyboard and mouse arrived

Recently picked up the new wireless keyboard and mouse after my old set finally died and once I got them both working I started to experience constant system crashes including restart messeges and random software just quitting out without cause. The iMac worked fine before I got teh new kb&m, but I ahve never heard of new accessories causing a computer to freak out like this. The computer is currently running Tiger. Any ideas?

Suggest that you repost over in the Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse Forums where the wireless folks hang out.
Also, since you have an Intel iMac, you may wish to cross-post over in the Using your Intel-based iMac Forums.
You should also indicate which version of Tiger you are using.

  • [Solved] Mouse and Keyboard Dont Work After BIOS Update

I spent the last few hours in windows 7 trying to prove to the guys over at MSFN that my problem wasn't driver or bios related by updating to the latest drivers and upgrading my bios to the most recent version. After I was finished I decided to boot back into arch to work some more on my custom kernel (since oddly it had the same problem before the bios update, the mouse and keyboard worked on one boot but once i rebooted into it again they no longer worked) and found that the keyboard and mouse no longer worked, thinking I had rebooted into the custom kernel by accident I rebooted and selected the default kernel once again only to find that the mouse and keyboard still didn't work.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I really don't want to reinstall since I just installed it last night.
Edit: Another silly mistake, i had renamed the original xorg.conf and never put back when I was finished. This makes me wonder why KDM even started up at all though.

Hello base76, welcome to the HP Forums.
It appears that the mouse and keyboard aren't working correctly. I will try to assist you with this.
To start could you please provide the following:
Model and product numbers for you notebook.
    Currently install operating system.
Were these working previously? If yes, were any changes made prior to them not working?
Have you attempted any troubleshooting? If yes, what have you tried so far?
I look forward to your reply.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • I have a 2011 iMac 27" i7 and the bluetooth connected trackpad, keyboard, and mouse all go haywire after awhile. This just began today and cannot make the issue go away. Nothing was downloaded, no software updates, etc. please help!

Oops, sorry, using my iPad for this. My iMac's Bluetooth-connected devices are going haywire after awhile of use. All three things--the trackpad, keyboard, and mouse--act up, especially the trackpad, by being overly sensitive and often just clicking and moving on its own. I've restarted the computer, I've swabbed batteries out of the devices, and nothing has worked so far in solving this issue. I downloaded Lion when it came out and had the update last week (I think), but today is the first day to experience this issue and nothing was downloaded today. I've been sending out a flurry of emails, but nothing else to hint at why this problem happened. Any ideas??

Humm, thank you. I have my iPhone and iPad on the wireless network, and yeah--using the rechargable batteries. I'll try normal batteries and re-join the phone and get back to you. May take a day or so because the semester starts today. Thank you again.

  • Keyboard and Mouse no longer work after update

Earlier today I ran pacman -Syu for the first time since the 18th, and initially everything seemed to be working properly.  However, upon my next boot, both my mouse and keyboard (both USB) no longer worked, leaving me stuck at the login screen unable to move the cursor or switch to a different terminal.  Unplugging and reconnecting my keyboard and mouse did nothing.
A related topic (which could be solved by reconnecting the devices) suggested that booting with runlevel 1 might help, and this allowed me to use the terminal, but any attempt to start X resulted in getting stuck at login in the same way.
Disabling and re-enabling hotplugging via xorg.conf had no impact (there was a note in Xorg.0.log indicating that since hotplugging was enabled, mouse and keyboard drivers were being disabled.  Apparently it's a fairly standard warning).
The only package that was updated that seemed to be input related was xf86-xinput, but downgrading to the previous version did not fix the problem.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might have caused this issue?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Adding to the above: I also tried plugging in an Microsoft USB keyboard at the point when Windows freezes at the Windows log-in screen. The keyboard is not recognized and the only way I can leave this screen is to power-off the computer.

  • OS keyboard and mouse completely unresponsive after 10.6.1 update.

    Hello,
Snow Leopard was running fine. I updated to 10.6.1 and now the computer boots up normally (background programs seem to be running fine) but the keyboard and mouse are completely unresponsive. I am even unable to dim the screen, change the volume etc etc. I was able to go into safe mode but then keyboard and mouse again are unresponsive.
    Please help!
    Thanks.

I had something very similar happen. I shut the lid on my MacBook. When I opened it up, I tried to type in my password (I have it password protected when it sleeps) and none of the keystrokes did anything. I had to hit the power-off button to cold boot the computer.

  • After updating to Mavericks, my macbook's keyboard and mouse randomly stops functioning for a brief period of time.

my keyboard and mouse will randomly stop functioning. i have to wait 20 seconds for functionality to return. please help.

    Hi,
I'm exactly having the same problem as described above running on Boot Camp v2.1 as well as Parallels latest version. My macbook will just hang on itself and i had to press the power button to restart. Is there any fix to this?
    Thanks.

  • No usb keyboard or mouse after building image for M81,82,and 83?

i have built an image using imagex and with dism but after imaging a machine (lets say a M83) it will take the image but once it comes to the screen to type the name i have no keyboard or mouse. let me be clear that this image is for a M81, m82 and an m83. i have injected drivers for the m83 but this will kill the keyboard and mouse on the m82. i have also tried to inject m82 drivers and this kills m83. so with that being said is there a universal keyboard and mouse drive that i can use for all three models. Or is there something i can modify to make it work on all three?

Append "1" to the grub entry that you use to boot.  This will start the system at runlevel 1.  Login normally.  Run pacman -Syu to fully update the system.  Try reboot.
    Edit: Chg runlevel

  • Keyboard and Mouse doesn't work on system preferences after 10.5.2 upgrade

The keyboard and mouse configuration through the system preferences painel has stopped working after installing the update to version 10.5.2 of the Mac OS X.
This occurs when using the Brazilian Portuguese language. Any suggestion?

    I've found a fix here:

In short: there's a problem with the Brazilian Portuguese translation, it's the only language affected.

  • Keyboard and mouse not working after boot

    Hello!
    it's my first time here
I have been using archlinux for a couple of months and after an upgrade, my mouse and keyboard stopped working.
I have also posted it on linuxquestions:
    http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … ot-934040/
What might be causing that problem?
and, considering the problem occurred after an upgrade, reinstalling the system would correct it?

when booting into runlevel 3, the keyboard and mouse works fine.

  • My Keyboard and Mouse freeze after connecting USB device

In the past few weeks I got this situation where my MacBook Air (13" Late 2010 model) would stop responding to the keyboard and trackpad after I connect a USB device (like an external hard disk, or even my iPhone).
I found one (quite inconvenient) solution: if I connect an external USB mouse and keyboard they work, and after a while the built in trackpad and keyboard start working again. But if I do not have an external mouse and keyboard around me, I am quite stuck and only a reboot fixes the situation.
Any idea what might be causing this, or if there is any solution? It is clearly a software issue, as the hardware can be returned to normal state after reboot.
Note: I have the latest OS - Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50) and regularly update my software.

I have the same issue, on the same model (late 2010 13" MBA).
I haven't been able to figure out a solution either. Strangely, I recently bought a USB external drive and it *never* causes a freeze upon connection. Only smaller devices (iPod, iPad, FitBit, USB stick) cause it. I need to reboot the computer with the device attached to be able to access it.

  • No USB keyboard or mouse after a partial update

I'm in a jam, and need some help.
I have an archlinux desktop installation here, and decided to do an update since one hadn't been done for a few months.   I did a pacman -Syuw to get all the necessary files, and since there was some conflicts I fixed those up.  Also, pacman itself needed to be updated, which I did.   So at this point I only updated pacman and libreoffice (which had some plugin conflict) and the dependencies of those.
Since I figure its better to do KDE updates from the console only, I decided to log off, and do a console login so that KDE wouldn't be running during the update.  However, I accidentally did a Shutdown instead..  Which I assumed would be fine anyway, but now when it boots none of my USB devices are working.
I can go into BIOS settings, and keyboard is working fine, but as soon as arch starts loading, the keyboard and mouse are completely disabled... like there is no power getting to them.  Lights on mouse and keyboard are completely off.
I do not have a CD burner here to make a bootable CD, and this particular PC is picky about booting from a USB drive.   I'm kind of stuck.
Oh, I CAN edit the grub config.  Keyboard is working fine at that point.  Is there anything I can add to the grub commands to force it to load usb modules?
The system does boot up, and normally I have SSH servers running, but for some reason they are not accepting connections either.  About all I can do is ping the box (from my laptop).
EDIT: Seems like the system got a new IP when it restarted, So I dont know what it's new IP address is.  Looking for it now to see if I can SSH into it.
Ok, I just noticed that there is a failure on bootup about libpcre, but that doesnt seem to stop anything.   I just found an old PS2 keyboard that I plugged in, and I can now type up until X loads, and then that keyboard shuts off too.  When it sits at the console login for about 1 second, I can begin typing, but then kdm fires up and I can no longer type anything.
    Thanks.

Append "1" to the grub entry that you use to boot.  This will start the system at runlevel 1.  Login normally.  Run pacman -Syu to fully update the system.  Try reboot.
    Edit: Chg runlevel
