Lockup when playing or importing songs into iTunes 7.6.1

Have anyone experienced a lockup in Windows when playing or importing songs into iTunes 7.6.1? Not sure if this is a problem of the new version or something I need to diagnose with my PC. I know alot you guys probably have MACs so I would appreciate any feedback you might be able to lend. Thanks in advance!!!

UPDATE: When all else fails reinstall everything! (without offending PC users, this is an accepted practice around here for pc software issues.....sorry). Anyway, trashing the old Spin DR and Toast Titanium and reinstalling seemed to get me going again. Sorry to bother everyone.

  • Computer Blue Screens when trying to import songs into iTunes.

Whenever I attempt to import songs from my desktop (or anywhere else,) into iTunes, my computer locks up, blue screens, and then restarts. I'd like to get this problem resolved soon, as all of my music is organized through iTunes, but I'm sick of this problem. Help?

  • Audio CD burning error- I opted for importing songs into iTunes as MP3

    Hi,
Before I started importing songs into iTunes, I chose int eh iTunes preferences to import all songs as MP3, as I wanted the option of being able to burn CDs to play on my car MP3 player.
When I tried to burn a CD, I got an error message that these songs could not be burnt onto the CD. This had the option where I could see all the errors and the list was of all the songs that I was trying to burn.
BTW, I created a new playlist, dragged the required songs to this playlist from the library and pressed the burn disc option.
What am I doing wrong? Could it be that the drive is faulty?

First of all, how long is the total time of all songs? If it is more than 80 minutes, you can't record to the CD as an audio CD. If that is the case, and you say you have an MP3 cd player in your car... you might want to try burning to the disc as an MP3 CD. Go to iTunes preferences, then click "Advanced," then "Burning" and you'll see an option for "MP3 CD." Click that, and then when you burn the disc, you can put as many songs as will fit onto the disc.
Also, rewritable CDs aren't any better... as a matter of fact, a lot of audio CD players can't read them. A regular CD-R should be fine, even one rated at 40x speed.

  • Error message when trying to import CD into itunes

Error message when trying to import CD into itunes.  "Error occured while converting the file 'name of song' The required disk coannot be found"

    Hi Grigsby9,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. This error usually appears when your iTunes Media folder location is incorrectly configured in your iTunes Advanced preferences. Let’s check these preferences to makes sure that iTunes is point to a folder that exists:
Locate and organize your iTunes files - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/ht1391
Find and change the iTunes Media folder location
You can change the iTunes Media folder location to share music between accounts on the same computer.
    1.Mac OS X: Choose iTunes > Preferences.
    Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences.
    2. Click the Advanced pane.

  • Can't import songs into itunes library...

For some reason it isn't working. I took a couple of songs off my ipod via ephpod and i tried opening them using the import function in itunes. I open it, but the songs aren't added into the library at all. Maybe it might be the file format? Anyone have anyway to convert the songs into the accepted format?

    Yep,
I have been having the exact same problem now for over a year. First, it was like six hundred songs--wouldnt play on my ipod and then wouldnt add into my itunes library. It happened to correspond with an update of itunes and the ipod firmware. It has only gotten worse and now I am in fear of updating anything further. I have been looking for answers to this problem for a long time, if you happen to get an answer that works would you let me know about it too?
    Thanks!

  • Import song into iTunes after purchasing with Pepsi Stuff points

I purchased a song using my Pepsi Stuff points on amazon.com. It downloaded fine, but I can't get iTunes to import it into my library. I tried emailing Amazon and all of the solutions I received still don't work. I was trying to figure out how to contact Apple, but the email support forms all ask for my order number, which I don't have since I didn't purchase the song through iTunes. Has anyone else done this and had the same problem? Please help!

This is an issue... but I think it is an Amazon issue. I too got Pepsi downloads, the songs download fine, butI am not able to import, the auto import doesnt seem to funtion and on top of that, you cannot even play the song in Media Player. Good thing I didnt purchase the music!
If anyone can think of what I am doing wrong or how to fix it, that would be greatly appreciated!!!!

  • I have a flash drive with 6GB of music.  How to import songs into iTunes?

Foolish me, I was under the absurd impression that Apple, the company that brags non-stop about the functionality and user-friendliness of its software, would allow you to simply drag and drop music files into the iTunes window.
    Oh, how stupid was I.
Drag-and-drop into iTunes? NONSENSE!!!!! That would be far too simple!
Like literally everything involving iTunes, what should be an exceedingly simple process is far more complicated.
So, how the heck do I get these 300+ songs in WMA format from my flash drive into iTunes?

The problem is actually that you are trying to import WMA files into the Mac version of iTunes. WMA files can only be imported (and subsequently converted to AAC) in the Windows version of iTunes. You also have to have a version of Windows Media Player 9 or higher on the PC.
Just an idea to throw out there. If you have access to a PC, import the songs into Windows Media Player, convert the tracks to MP3, put those on your flash drive and import to your mac.
    Hope this helps.

  • My imported songs into itunes match are not being uploaded but they are giving error messages

So when I am adding songs to my itunes library I am having issues with these songs being uploaded.  I called apple support last time and they fixed the issue with me but it's started all over again.  These songs have the little cloud with an exclamation point beside them and they say an error has occurred when uploading when i click on them.  I have turned itunes match on and off and that didn't resolve the issue.  Any ideas?

When you have that alert icon, generally that means iTunes can't find the original file. What happens if you do a Get Info on the track?

  • Can't import songs into itunes playlist folders from itunes music folder

Ive got to be an idiot. ive had my ipod for years and ive yet to figure this out:
how do i put music into my playlist folders? The only playlists ive been able to successfully create and use are the ones ON my ipod. but that requires me to plug in my ipod every time i want to hear music at home.
I've created the playlist folders. They are blue folders, found under the playlists tab on itunes. I select music from the music sections, and drag to the folder, but all i ever get is the Circle and line "No" symbol, i never get a plus sign. Ive ever tried popping the playlist folder into a new window and dragging from one window to the other, and its doesn't work. its there some ridiculous safety feature of iTunes that i need to turn off to make playlists or? I can't imagine that something would be this confusing, but i just don't get it.

    Welcome to AD!
Sounds like you are trying to drag single music files into a playlist folder.
You can only drag a pre-existing playlist into a playlist folder.

  • HT203175 keep getting error code 81 when trying to import cds into itunes

since installing itunes 11 i keep getting a error message which says an unkown error occurred (81) when trying to impoprt cd's
any ideas as to why would be helpful thanks.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • How to import songs into iTunes?

I had started to add the contents of my external hard drive to itunes a process which for some reason got interrupted. I want to import the remaining contents but cannot figure out how to do so without duplicating what I have already done as I cannot seem to "select" the files using either the "add file" or "add folder" applications. Can anyone tell me how I can add the remaining contents without having to duplicate and then remove please?
    Thanks!

Thanks for this. The problem is that I cannot select more than one item using either files or folders. Bit daunted by the prospect of having to do from Iggy Pop to Zappa album by album. I would have thought I could either just tick a no box answer to the question "Do you want to add duplicate items?" and it would just sort it for me, like in Outlook, OR set the application running from Iggy Pop and it would automatically copy over everything as far as Zappa. Are my expectations just too high? (Thanks for the pointer re subject line - sorry, first post on here).

    i'm just wondering:
    a) why it does this
and b) how to stop it doing this, because it still charges me for the song :/

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.
