Locockpit

hi bw experts,
can you please answer these questions
1, what happen in background , when you generate the locockpit datasource
2, what is the reason is not created on aggregates on ods
3, what is the diff between process chain vs infopackage groups.
thanks
siva

Hi,
1. If you activate the LO DS , nothing happens in the background. It just activate the DS. But if you activate the Extraction structure, then system starts collecting records either in Extraction queue LBWQ or in SM13 depending up on update type.
2. SAP has not provided option of creating the aggregate on ODS .
3. Process chain is an advance tool compare to  Infopackage group. IN IPG you can combine only infopackages. But in Process you can combine other type of activities also.

    HI
<b>KINDLY READ FULL QUESTION AND CLARIFY.
    </b>IN A SYSTEM LAND SCAPE OF DEVELOPMENT-QA-PRODUCTION
EG: IF I AM USING LO COCKPIT -
IF I WANT TO INSTALL A DATA SOURCE FROM R/3 WILL I BE ACTIVATING  DATASOURCE IN R/3 DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM R ELSE ON PRODUCTION SYSTEM.
IF I AM DOING THE ACTIVATION ON DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM THEN WHEN WE GO TO PRODUCTION DO I AGAIN NEED TO DO THE DELTA SETTINGS AND SETUP ON PRODUCTION SYSTEM R/3--????
IF I AM EXTRACTING DATA INTO BW DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM, WHEN I TRANSPORT IT TO QA R PRODUCTION DO I AGAIN NEED TO DO SET UP LIKE REPLICATION OF DATASOURCES FROM R/3 TO PRODUCTION SYSTEM BWWHAT IS THE METHODOLOGYKINDLY EXPLAIN IN DETAIL.
SO I AM VERY MUCH CONFUSED. ABOUT WHAT R THE ACTIVITIES I NEED TO DO ON DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM R ELSE PRODUCTION SYSTEM.
    KINDLY CLARIFY MY DOUBTS
    THANKS AND REGARDS

    Hi Neel,
when you install (transaction RSA5) a datasource in DEV you have to put this activation in a change request. The same for Logistic Cockpit delta activation (LBWE).
So, to have the same situation (activated datasource and delta) in QA and PRD.
On the other hand, QA and PRD are not open for any modification, therefore a direct activation is not allowed.
Clearly, when you import your change request (with the related activation), THEN you have to do a replication of the source system in BW (in order to let BW see the updated situation).
    Step by step for LO:
    activate the datasource in RSA5.
    adjust it in RSA6.
activate delta (green light in LBWE)
transport CRs in the other environment (and take care of everything in this case...)
    replicate datasource in BW
(remember that setup job and delta init and collective job have to be executed in every environment
    Bye,

  • Locockpit setuptable issue.

    Hi,
I have to load 3yrs data for these data source 2lis_02_HDR,ACC,ITM . but user is not agreeing the down time for loading the these datasource to bw system. i gone through  some of documents like first load init without data transfer and followed by full repair load and deltas going to delta queue . shaill i go head in this procedure is there .Can any one suggest me on this issue.
    Regards
    RK

    hi,
the extractor 2LIS_02_HDR has delta type - ABR i.e. this data source extracts the with After , before and reverse image.
In your case if you are extracting data from this data source to DSO and then cube, then you can do as mentioned do a new init w/o data transfer, do full repair and then delta. this will not corrupt data as the DSO will have KF in overwrite mode and even if the PO numbers are extracted twice (in full repair and delta) the final snapshot will still match with R/3 system.
Downtime is needed in the setup of extractors which are sending additive delta and the same record cannot be a part of setup table and delta, in your case it is not sending additive so no worries.
    regards,
    Arvind.

  • Issue with 0SD_CO5

    Hi ,
In LO extraction the standard cube  OSD_CO5 have these 4
      2LIS_01_264
      2LIS_01_260
      2LIS_11_VAHDR
      2LIS_11_VAHDR .
But the first 2 is not found when i use LBWE , it starts
from 02 Purchasing only , how to use those 2 extract
structure and fill the cube 0SD_C05 .
      Thanks & Regards
      Renjith Kumar

    Hi Renjith,
If you are using the 2LIS_11_VAHDR then you don't need to update the Infocube with 2lis_01_260 because this has been replaced by 2LIS_11_VAHDR and you can find this in LBWE most of the old LIS datasources have been replaced with the new in locockpit you can use the new one.
And i think when new datasources and infosources are present we should not use the old ones ofcourse still if you want to use the old thats fine but don't update both the infosources it will lead to duplicate data in the infocube.

  • LIS Information

    1. Diference between LIS and LOCOCPIT..and Advantages of LOCOCKPIT.
2.How many dimensions can we create to a fact table.and wht is the procedure for that.Is there any standard industry practise only 13 have to be created?

    Hi Reddy,
1.The main differences between LIS and LO-COCKPIT are
    1)     Level of information – in LO the data is stored in level by level. i.e. let us take SALES ORDER, it is divided into Header, Item, Schedule line information etc. In LO, go to the T-Code LBWE and check SALES ORDER (Application component – 11), Header – 2LIS_11_VAHDR, Item – 2LIS_11_VAITM, Schedule line – 2LIS_11_VASCL etc. But in LIS the whole data is in one datasource. So in LO-COCKPIT it is the flexibility.
    2)     In LO-COCKPIT, we can use the data is stored in setup tables. But in LIS the data is stored in cluster tables.
    3)     In LO-COCKPIT there is background job using V3 updated mode. But in LIS there is no background job.
    4)     We can delete the setup data using LBWG in LO-COCKPIT, But LIS there is not option for deleting setup table data.
The advantages of LO-COCKPIT are as follows:
    1)     Level of information
    2)     Background job scheduling
    3)     No redundancy
    4)     High performance
2.How many dimensions can we create to a fact table.and wht is the procedure for that.Is there any standard industry practise only 13 have to be created?
    A) Yes we have 16 dimensions, out of which 13 are user defined dimensions and other 3 are system defined. The procedure for creating these dimensions are first of all create one cube, at that time is asks characteristics, time characteristics and key figure. Select the tab for CHAR and click on dimensions. OK. The 3 system defined dimensions are TIME, UNIT, DATAPACKET. OK
    Thanks & Regards

  • Locock Pit queries

    Hi Experts
I had a couple of queries with regards to Locock pit extraction
1)What is the difference between SBIW and LBWE tcode in Locockpit
    and
    2) Why to we need first to delete data in set up tables and and load data to set updates
    and
    3) How can i analyze data volume that is to be extracted using locock pit data source
    Thanks in advance

    1) What is the difference between SBIW and LBWE tcode in Locockpit
SBIW- A general t-code similar to SPRO.....You can execute many t-codes from SBIW...eg : You can do the setup runs, set industry  standards, ETC......It contains information and activities required for extracting and transferring data from an SAP source system into a SAP BW. Apart from these, it contains...
         i)    General settings for the transfer of data from a source system into an SAP BW
ii)   Option of activating BI Business Content delivered by SAP
iii)  Option of maintaining generic DataSources
iv)   Option of subsequently processing DataSources on a source system-level
LBWE - Its a T-code containing activities related to Logistics.....You can maintain LO datasource, enhance the structure, select the update mode in this t-code.......
    2) Why to we need first to delete data in set up tables and and load data to set updates
Setup runs are done to get historical data.....There are chances that there might be data ...So its always advisable and good practise to delete the setup tables first before doing a new run to avoide inconsistentcy in data...
    and
    3) How can i analyze data volume that is to be extracted using locock pit data source
Try a trail setup run ...Execute it in background......After the run is complete, check in RSA3 as to how much data has been extracted...That should give u a clear idea to analyze the data volume....
    Hope this helps,
    regards,
    Thanks in advance

  • HI experts can u tell me the difference between LIS AND LOCOCKCPIT ext ?

hi experts iam in learning stage ,so plz can some one tell me the differece between LIS and LO COCKPIT  extractions and various steps invovlved in them , sorry for being pain in the back i did search in the previous posting didnt find the right answer . cheers thanks

    Hi,
    LO **** pit
    -->BW CONTENT EXTRACTOR......
---> it uses Readymadely available datasorce
--->LO cockpit supports V3 update(BACK GROUND SCHEDULING Jobs)
    LIS
    ---> CUSTOMER GENERATED EXTRACTOR.
    > need to cretae everything...
    --->LIS does't supports V3 update mode... it supports only V1 (SYNCHRONUS)& V2(ASYNCHRONUS UPDATE)

  • LO cockpit help

    hi
I have deleted the data from Cube and PSA and Info package for an LO cockpit data source to make a fresh load in to BI (in sandbox)...Now I went to LBWG and deleted set up tables...and then filled the set up tables again...now when I load the init by running the infopackage its giving only 54 records...can any one tell me where am making the mistake ? Did I forget any step in ECC ?
Please advice...Just tell me how to reload the init ...FYI I have deleted the data from PSA and Info package scheduler as well....I need to load from ECC again
    Regards

Check the base tables itself first to confirm the number of entries match, also after deleting the set up tables check in RSA3 to see if its completely deleted..
    More insights
    LOCOCKPIT
    Steps
    1)LBWG - Delete Set-up tables
    2)LBWE -->Application area(Purchasing)
    Activation of extract structures
    Click >Structure>Maintenance
    Click>Datasource>2LIS_02_HDR
    Click>Update>Active
    Click>Update Mode>Queued Delta
Green light should appear on each extraction structures after all STEPS
    3)SBIW settings-based on Application area
    Inventory Controlling
    IMPORTANT - ORDER OF LOADING
ALWAYS LOAD in order as BX datasource first then BF datasource and then UM datasource in cube
    a)SBIW>Setings for Application -specific Datasources(PI)>Logistics-->Settings:Inventory Controlling -->
    Select Determine Industry sector
Select Transaction Key Maintenance for SAP
Transaction key is used for Process key mappings w/t these the data would not load in to BW though it would come in PSA
b)Select Stock Initialization or TCODE - MCNB
    Purchasing
    a)SBIW>Setings for Application -specific Datasources(PI)>Logistics-->Settings:Purchasing
    Select Determine Industry sector
Select Transaction Key Maintenance for SAP
    4)Fill Set up tables
SBIW>Setings for Application -specific Datasources(PI)>Logistics>Managing extract structures>Initialization>Filling in the set up table>Application specific setup of statistical data.
    OR
OLI*BW -example for Inventory transaction is OLI1BW
    5)BW -Replicate datasources
    Loading data steps-
1)LBWQ (Empty the queue by deleting the entries if its FRESH installation or Execute Job through Job control and empty the queue)
    2)LBWG (Delete set up tables)
3)SBIW(OLI*BW) Fill set up tables ,use BLOCK check box
4)Make an INIT from BW  (Data now flows from LBWQ to RSA7)
    5)Set up a V3 update job in R/3 ,frequency daily/periodic
    Inventory Cube -
    1)Load BX datasource
2)Load BF datasource (No checkmark on Marker update)
3)BW - Compress cube with YES Checkmark Marker update
    4)Remove Check Mark
    5)Delta
6)BW - Compress cube with YES Checkmark Marker update
    IMPORTANT -
