Log Axis Graph Question

Does anyone know if it is possible to modify the the log axis
to set arbitrary limits.
By default the extents are 1,10,100,1000 etc. I want to
create an audio test chart with lower limit of 20 Hz and upper
limit of 20 kHz.

I know this was a while ago now, but did you ever get anywhere with your search for a better Log axis? I'm looking for exactly the same thing.

    Hi,
I am drawing a bubble chart with two types of axes: Linear and Log. The bubble points do not get plot correctly in case of Log Axis. Linear axis show fine though.
Any clue why it might be showing wrong ?
    Thanks,

I got the solution myself !!!
I was using Flex 4 SDK which has this bug in LogAxis. I used Log Axis of Flex SDK 3.0 and it ran perfectly fine.:)

  • Xcelcius 2008 - Dual Axis Graph Mouse Over Display

I am working on a dual-axis graph where one value is a percentage and another is numeric. I am having an issue where I cannot format the hovers into multiple formats (i.e. one as numeric, the other as a percentage). In the graph properties I only see one property to modify Mouse-Over Values, but I need to modify it for each axis.
    Thanks ahead of time.

    Hi Diney,
I Have to show all the projects per client requirement, I want to remove the legends(which I already did), and instead show the project name only when the mouse is rolled over in the graph. Is it possible?
Thanks for your time and help.

  • Anyway to implement a dual axis graph in xcelsius?

anyone know how to implement a dual axis graph in xcelsius?
i tried faking a dual axis graph by super imposing 2 graphs, one with the axis labels and the other one without, but the legends would never line up especially if i placed the legend at the bottom of the chart.
    any ideas?
    -shawn

i am not able to get exactly the problem where  you are getting that, if you get it in line chart or any other charts we can fake any chart on the basis of scenario by giving display status key and another options also there for this.
i hope you get some idea, if u not able to understand pls mail me with your exact scenarion i will send the complete solution to you.
    Thank you,

  • 2 axis graphs

Is it possible to have a two axis graph with values of one axis in the form of a stacked graph and the value of the second axis displayed as a line graph?
I can do it in a regular bar graph but I need a "stacked" bar

i read this answer on another post. Im having a hard time figuring out how to reset the background.
Also is it possible to set the second graph to a second y axis? to the right side of the graph?
Select the front chart, then use the Fill: color well to choose None (the square with a slash through it at the top left of the color palette).
Numbers places the Y axis and its value labels at the left of the chart. Use the Y axis options popup menu in the Axis section of the Chart Inspector to turn off Show Axis, Show Value Labels and Show minimum value. Add a text box and type in the values, including the minimum value, with enough returns after each to align the numbers with the grid lines. Add a Line using the Shapes button, rotate it 90 degrees. Use these as the Y axis (on the right) and Y value labels.

  • Linear Plot on a Log axis

    Hello,
what I want to do is quite unusual (I think) so I will explain the context :
I made a program which capture data off a spectrum analyser, correct these data with antenna correction, and use VIs "Limit Specification.vi" and "Limit Testing.vi" to interpolate my datas with a Pattern. The aim is to verify that the datas from the analyser don't get over the pattern.
Everything is then put in a Waveform Graph, with a Logarithm X Scale.
BUT the problem is that when I put X scale on "log" in graph properties, my Pattern representation is transformed in a Log-horrible-thing. I know it's working as intended, but my program isn't unusable because of this.
How can I do to make the interpolation "Linear" in a Log scale ? Is it possible using both limits VIs, or not ? I hope yes..
Here are some screenshot of the thing (can't join my VI, it's property of the company I work for (i'm in placement)).
Thanks for your future help !

Thank you sooooo much Felix, you made my day !!!
I post the solution if someone needs it
1- I transform my waveform points in log10 base :
2- Same with my pattern (limit) points :
3- I use the Limit specification and Limit testing VIs with these new X points (and dt=-1 because my waveform isn't linear anymore)
4-And finally, I use 10^x function and change my Waveform out of Limit Testing, in an XY graph :

  • Discoverer Desktop Graphing Questions

I have several questions about the graphing tool in Discoverer Desktop:
    1. I'm bringing in a customer id field which I convert with a to_char in the query from a numeric field. Most of them are 5-digit, but some are 4. I notice in the x-axis the customer id's appear only for the 5 digit id's, and for the 4-digit ones the identifier appears. i.e. if the 5th record has an id of 1508, instead of displaying 1508 it displays 5. Does anyone know how to correct this?
    2. In the y-axis values, is it possible to display more than 5 decimal places? (We're dealing with very small percentages). When I try to enter 6 or higher as the decimal value in Options, it says invalid number.
    3. When I open an existing workbook, it readjusts the y-axis scale to a max of 1, when I've set it to .0001. How I can I make this retain my scale values?
    4. Is it possible to display the y-values in the graph area itself next to the plot points?
    Thanks for any help!!!!

    Hi paul,
Its a good idea to upgrade from 4i to 10g 4i is no more used by many and their are some issues or bugs with it.The latest version is 11g which has been released 1 week back.If not go with 10g version available.
    1) Do all reports have to be stored on the database to allow them to be accessed by Plus or Viewer? Can only the 10G client version open files from a local hardrive or shared network drive?Yes they have to stored in the database so any ened user can access them from plus or viewer.
Can only one report be open at any given time with Plus or Viewer? In client it is possible to have 2 reports open at the same time to facilitate easier comparisons.Yes,if the reports are registered as different reports and if the end user has access to both the reports thn he can open and compare it OR if both reports are in same workbook as different sheets than its easy to view or compare.
NULL values are still showing the word "NULL" even though in Tools Options we have set it to show blank, existing reports are still using the NULL value. It should show blank, might be some problem. In discoverer 10g i think you will not find this issues.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Line Graph Question: Compare different values thru time ...

Hi, hope someone can help me I've been looking at examples, but I cant get this to work:
Here is a link to what the data looks like: http://primolandia.com/line_problem.jpg
As you can see, I have a table with columns: Team, Date, CriteriaNum1, CriteriaNum2, CriteriaNum3
One graph per Criteria which compares how each Team did on that Criteria thru time...
So I want the X axis to have the "Date" and have one line per team showing the value at different times ...
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!!!

I wish to withdraw this question ... I finally figured out my issue...

  • Executing "bring to center" on a free cursor in a log XY graph brings the cursor to the top rim of the graph (instead of the center)

    Dear support,
    dear LV users,
selecting "bring to center" for a free cursor in a XY graph does not
bring the cursor into the center of the graph, but instead the command brings it to the
mean/average value. This is not an issue for a linear mapping
of the axis [due to the fact that the center of the axis is equal to
the middle/average value of the end points on the axis]. But when
mapping of the axis is logarithmic, the cursor ends up on the top of
the screen. That is because the average value of the end points
(min(y_axis)+max(y_axis))/2) is not equal to the center of the axis.
Is that a wished behavior, please?
Example: For an y_axis = [1..100], the awaited center position would be at
10 and not at 50.5. The center position for the logarithmic mapping
should be calculated as (log(min(y_axis))+log(max(y_axis)))/2, IMHO.
    Kind regards,
    Solved!

You are right, LabVIEW chooses this form (min(y_axis)+max(y_axis))/2).

    Good morning,
Without the instrument it might be hard for others to help
troubleshoot the problem.  Was there a
specific LabVIEW programming question you had, are you having problems with the
    instrument communication, are there errors?
I’d like to help, but could you provide some more specific information
on what problems you are encountering, and maybe accompany that with a simple
    example which demonstrates the behavior?
In general we don’t we will be unable to open specific code and debug,
but I’d be happy to help with specific questions.
I did notice, though, that in your logging VI you have at
least one section of code which appears to not do anything.  It could be that a small section of code, or
a wire was removed and the data is not being updated correctly (see pic below).  Is your file being opened properly?  Is the data being passed to the file
properly?  What are some of the things
    you have examined so far?
Sorry I could not provide the ‘fix’, but I’m confident that
we can help.  Thanks for posting, and
    have a great day-

  • Log axis

    Hello,
I am a bit puzzled by the scaling of my log scale...
Say the range is -.2 (or zero) to 17788.
    1) Changing the map mode to log I would have expected an error, according to the documentation:
Use a logarithmic scale for the graph axis. The minimum axis value must be greater than zero.
    Obviously, it must not.
    2) Having the axis autoscaled, the smallest label is 18, with intermediate labels of 100, 1000, 10000, and the largest label is 17788.
Why is the smallest label 18 and not 10, or 1, or 0.1??
I have Auto Divisions but no Loose Fit.
    Thanks, Wolfgang
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Wolfgang,
The reason it is being coerced to such a high value is because you have Loose Fit (ATTR_XLOOSE_FIT_AUTOSCALING) enabled for autoscaling and too high of a Loose Fit AutoScale Unit (ATTR_XLOOSE_FIT_AUTOSCALING_UNIT). The autoscaling unit is the log factor that the autoscaling will use for rounding. You probably have the autoscaling unit set to 2 which is the default. This means that it will round to the next higher for max and next lower for min value that is a factor of 100. This works great for a linear scale, but you can see an obvious problem with this design for log scales. By the very nature of the log scale, it does not make sense to round based on the same factor.
The reason you are getting a min value of 18 is because the true min of the data is smaller than the autoscaling loose fit factor. And since it cannot use 0 as the min since it is an invalid value for log, it instead defaults to 1/1000 of the max.
There are a few issues here with loose fit on a log scale, so I have filed a bug report that you can track with ID: 352509.
In the meantime, I found that disabling loose fit allows the autoscale to work correctly even with negative data values. However, if you want to have a loose fit (i.e. you min and max on the scale have a buffer around the min and max of the data), then you will have to implement this yourself. You can use autoscaling when plotting data to automatically detect the max and min of the data, then switch to a fixed scale so that you can then add the buffer region to create a loose fit. Or you can leave autoscaling off and calculate the min and max values yourself.

  • Log Axis value?

    Hello
The X axis I think in the display panel logQ base Q, but the X axis value or the logQ this calculated value, for example: the requirement that correspond to the 1000 in the log1000 X axis,. Would you please tell me how to do? As shown in Fig.
    Thank you

I'm not sure if I understood you correctly, but every single axis in a graph can have a log scale: you can set it this way:
    The result is as follows:
If this is not your problem, can you rephrase your questio so that we can understood what you need?

  • Programming graph question

I need to be able to create a calss that graphs a grade distribution (number of A's, B's, C's D's, and F's) horizontally by printing lines with proportionate numbers of asterisks corresponding to the percentage of grades in each category.
Could anyone help me out? I have no idea where to begin lol :P

This that is along the lines of what i am meaning... here ill just write out the full question lol :P ;)
Create a class that graphs a grade distribution (Number of A's, B's, C's, D's and F's) horizontally by printing lines with proportionate numbers of asterisks corresponding to the percentage of grades in each category. Write methods to set the number of each letter grade; read the number of each letter grade; return the total number of grades; return the percentage of each letter grade as a whole number between 0 and 100, inclusive; and draw the graph. Set it up so that 50 asterisks correspond to 100 percent (each one corresponds to 2 percent), include a scale on the horizontal axis indicating each 10 percent increment from 0 to 100 percent and label each line with its letter grade.
For example, if there are 1 A, 4 B's, 6C's 2 D's and 1 F, the total number of grades is 14, the percentage of A's is 7, the percentage of B's is 29, the percentage of C's is 43, the percentage of D's is 14 and the percentage of F's is 7. The A row would contain 4 asterisks (7 percent of 50 rounded to the nearest interger), the B row 14, the C row 21, the D row 7, and the F row 4.

    hello
I want to use Graph demo in oracle form 10g using OTN demo.I have some questions.
    1. Is there any way to change the color of bars in chart? colors set random. Is it Right?
    2. when the value is large tooltips shows the round value. How can I avoide it from rounding?
    your help is really appreciated
    thanks in advance

OK, in this case an intensity graph seems to be the right thing but there is a small complication.
Since each byte contains 8 pixels, you need to expand each byte into 8 bytes.
Easiest would be to typecast it into a boolean array using "4.x mode" (very important!), then use "boolean to 0,1) to convert it to the final array.
(you might need to transpose the array or flip an axis to make it upright).
I have attached a small demo (LabVIEW 7.0) on how to do this.

  • How to create multi axis graph with 2 on change of fields and 2 values

    Hi all,
i am working for a Semi conductor company and I have been madated to evaluate Crystal report 2008 in order to include it in our legacy software.
So I have tested the soft and it seems to fit to our need.
    But I have a question...
Here is a scenario i want to create in crystal but I have an error message..
Can you please tell me if twant I want to achieve is feasisible...and if so how ?
    Thank you
I would like to create a percent bar chart that contains 2 on change of fields and 2 show values.
The idea behind in then to have a mutli axis chart in order to print as a line the second values.
So the first values will be my bar chart in percentage and the second value will be a sum.
    Hope my description is cleat...
Thank's in advance for your support...
    Have a good day

There are different ways to achieve that. The simplest i could recall is to have 2 different charts, 1st bar chart and 2nd a line chart, lay one over the other and enable the transparency on the chart which on Top ( say Line ). also, crystal will allow you to control axes etc and make them transparent..
