Log File after fix KB3024815
Hi,
hot fix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3024815
RESOURCE_SEMAPHORE_QUERY_COMPILE..............
After I placed this fix on SQL 2014 Cluster, the compilation time was okay, but the following issue occured.
When rebuilding an index with a size of 10MB in the log fail are recorded 70MB which caused the rebuild time to increase x7 because of the x7, an increase of x7 is required to the I/Ops and HDD for the log.
For example:
Size before rebuild this index
index: 24544.00KB
Log File: 833024.00KB
Size after rebuild this index
index: 24592.00KB
Log File: 1008000.00KB
So log increase 7.1151594 times from index size.
Am I the only one experiencing this issue or is there a bug when this fix is placed on the cluster ?
Regards,
Jeff

NO SMSTS.LOG file after OSD
Single Primary Site SCCM 2012 R2 CU4.
Deploying BareMetal machines using basic task sequence.
The machine joins the domain however the sccm client install failed and I cannot locate the SMSTS.log anywhere.
In C:\windows we have ccmsetup with ccmsetup.log, client.msi.log and MicrosoftPolicyPlatformSetup.msi.
There is no c:\_SMSTaskSequence or C:\WIndows\CCM folder.

=== Verbose logging stopped: 2/20/2015 13:41:10 ===Until the client agent is installed, smsts.log will be in C:\Windows\Temp.
That won't help you troubleshoot the client agent installation failure though. For Windows Installer installations, 1603 is a generic error code that means you needs to examine the verbose msi log file (client.msi.log in this case) in depth. Searching
for the string "return code 3" and then scanning the lines above this will lead you to exact item that failed.

SubbuHello Subbu,
> I have taken backup yesterday monrning in Archive log mode but have lost all the archive log files.
You mean you have taken an online backup and lost all your archive log files after that online backup?
SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
Error: ORA-01113: file 1 needs media recovery
ORA-01110: data file 1: 'E:\oracle\'<SID>\sapdata1\SYSTEM_1\SYSTEM.DATA1'
SQL> recover database using backup controlfile until cancel;
ORA-00279 : change 26627919 generated at DATE TIMEneeded for thread 1
ORA-00289 : Suggestion E:\ORACLE\<SID>\ORAARCH\<SID>ARCHARC03020_0683715008.001
ORA-00280: change 266277189 for thread 1 is in sequence #3020
To perform a recovery with an online backup you will need all archive log files until the end of the online backup. If you have lost them you are not able to recover (or open) your database in a consistent state.
So the only suggestion we can do is:
You need the archive log files that were created during the online backup to perform an incomplete recovery ... if they are gone you can not restore your database.

Where can the log file be found after printing to the PDF printer?
Cannot locate the log file after printing to the Adobe PDF printer. The box was unchecked for delete log file after successful print. Running Adobe Acrobat X Standard (v10.0.0) on a windows 2008 R2 server.
There is usually no log file when the conversion succeeds. Only in certain cases are their warning or information messages, usually of little interest.

Database is not Opening. Errors are coming due to Copy Mismatch of Log file
Hello Friends,
I did some mistakes and deleted all log files after closing SAP QAS System.
I was trying to Resizing the Redo Log files, as per as SNOTE 309526.
All control files are consistent. Only due to Log File mismatch, Database is not Opening.
Here, is the error.
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00322: log 14 of thread 1 is not current copy
ORA-00312: online log 14 thread 1: '/oracle/RQ1/mirrlogB/log_g14m2.dbf'
ORA-00322: log 14 of thread 1 is not current copy
ORA-00312: online log 14 thread 1: '/oracle/RQ1/origlogB/log_g14m1.dbf'
In working condition, Previously the file was with this name log_g11m1.dbf......
I had replaced all the files, which i had backedup ,before deleting those Log files. But, still this kind of error is coming.
I tried to "reset log", but it failed.
SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
alter database open resetlogs
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01139: RESETLOGS option only valid after an incomplete database recovery
I did all the activities after Closing SAP System.
I want your Quick help, as its critical for me.

Edited by: Bhavik G. Shroff on Nov 8, 2008 3:49 PMHello Bhavik,
with your given information (the query from above and the posted ORA-errors) - unfortunately i have to say .. you are almost lost, i really advise you to get professional support on your system for that. Let me explain why.
The information from the query
SQL> SELECT * FROM V$LOG;
GROUP# THREAD# SEQUENCE# BYTES MEMBERS ARC STATUS FIRST_CHANGE# FIRST_TIM

14 1 22291 20971520 2 YES ACTIVE 156909138 08-NOV-08
SQL> SELECT * FROM V$LOGFILE;
GROUP# STATUS TYPE MEMBER

13 ONLINE /oracle/RQ1/origlogA/log_g13_m1.dbf
13 ONLINE /oracle/RQ1/mirrlogA/log_g13_m2.dbf
14 ONLINE /oracle/RQ1/origlogB/log_g14m1.dbf
14 ONLINE /oracle/RQ1/mirrlogB/log_g14m2.dbf
and the ORA-00322 error:
ORA-00322: log 14 of thread 1 is not current copy
ORA-00312: online log 14 thread 1: '/oracle/RQ1/mirrlogB/log_g14m2.dbf'
ORA-00322: log 14 of thread 1 is not current copy
As you can see your online redo log group 14 has the status ACTIVE, that means that this online redolog files are needed for a crash recovery (not all needed data was already flushed to the data files), but the files from the online redo log group 14 are lost (deleted accidentally). But you have really luck that this online redologfile is already archived (see query ARC = YES) so you must have a archivelog file with the sequence number 22291.
The problem in your case is that the recover is performed through the online redolog files (normally done by a complete recovery), but the online redolog files are already deleted. To fix this issue you have to restore an older backup and make a recover trough the archive log files (including the sequence 22291 which was already archived) and not through the online redolog groups.
At this point this is the only way to get a running database again (but maybe with data lost).
The other serious problem is the redolog group 11, it seems like this group was the CURRENT redolog (take a look at the sequence and the SCNs) and you will lose this data.
I can imagine that the database was not shutdown clearly at the moment of the redolog file deletion - the most indications are pointing to this.
Sorry that i have no better news for you.. please get professional support who can execute the necessary steps for you.

Hi,
While run MR11 for GR/IR clearing account a log file is generated and document number is 5400000010. Where this log file is stored by default and how it should display ? Beside F.13 automatic clearing clears those GR/IR records whose balance shows as 0. And difference amount is cleared through F-03 by choosing document number from GR and IR under same purchase order. In F.13(automatic clearing) does not clear those same GR value and IR value inspite of same PO number. These values are easily tracebale from normal balance viewing mode through FBL3N. Why these values are not cleared through F.13 ?
Regards,
SamratImmediate AI:
0. Check the log file auto growth setup too and check is this a practically a good one and disk has still space or not.
1. If disk is full where you are keeping log file, then add a log file in database property page on another disk where you have planned to keep log files, in case you can't afford to get db down. Once you are done then you can plan to truncate data out of
log file and remove that if it has come just first time issues. If this happens now and then check for capacity part.
2. You can consider shrinking the log files after no any other backup are going on or any maintenance job like rebuild\reorg indexes \update stats jobs are executing as this will be blocking it.
If db size is small and copy files from prod to dr is not that latency prone, and shrink is not happening, then you can try changing recovery model and then do shrinking and reconfigure log-shipping after reverting recovery model.
3. Even you can check if anyone mistakenly places some old files and forgot to remove them which is causing disk full issues. Also
4. For permanent solution, do monitor the environment for capacity and allocate good space for log file disks. Also consider tweaking frequencies of the log backup from default that suits your environment.

The problem I am now having is that, the data is through UDP sending in, the program start off normal capturing all data, but when data are captured and saved to the .log file after an hour or more, some of the data will start to be missed.
I guess this is beause the .log file is becoming larger, and in the rate of 10Hz (now), the file open and close can't chase up? so some data are missed?
Anyone could advice or amend the VI so that I could have a better way to save the captured data? making a buffer? or what so ever? Hope someone could help =]
Thanks.

Just found some error when the data are saved.
At some point, there data just copy this whole thing and save in the middle of the excel
""Time\sStamp\tChannel:00\tChannel:01\tChannel:02\tChannel:03\tChannel:04\tChannel:05\tChannel:06\tChannel:07\tChannel:10\tChannel:11\tChannel:12\tChannel:13\tChannel:14\tChannel:15\tChannel:16\tChannel:17\tChannel:20\tChannel:21\tChannel:22\tChannel:23\tChannel:24\tChannel:25\tChannel:26\tChannel:27\tChannel:30\tChannel:31\tChannel:32\tChannel:33\tChannel:34\tChannel:35\tChannel:36\tChannel:37\tIP\sAddress\t\n""
I don't know which part handling the error is wrong.
If possible, maybe could you help me delete the whole auto naming function (move it aside) and just add in a promt user for saving directory thing ok?
Thanks!
Here is the file and i added the excel in.
Hi milkbottlec,
Regarding the headings in the middle of your file, I imagine the filename changed temporarily. When the name changed BACK to an exisiting name, the headings were added (anticipating a new file.) I'm more curious about the "lost" data problem. Do you still see holes in the data? If so, were any bad filenames recorded?
Sure! Why not present a file-dialog instead of automatically generating filenames, Looks like you've mastered the "True/False" case, why not build on what you know? Experiment with the File Dialog express VI on the FILE\Advanced File Functions palette. Personally, I'm a fan of auto-generated filenames, though, not necessarily built from the data.
Cheers!

Dear Friends,
I am facing problem to restore last backuped offline log file.
I have succefully completed homogeneous system copy (i.e. SAP ECC 6.0 with Oracle 10g on Wndows 2003 platform) through backup/restore procedure & system comes to consistent stage & able to login properly.
Now I want to restore other offline redolog files in the above system.
e.g. Previously I have imported log sequence upto 750. Now I want to recover logfiles from log seq. 751 onwards.
Pls. help to recover other offline log files after system is consistent.
Thanks in advance,
AbhishekNot possible.
Once you opened your database (and logged in successfully), no more recover actions can be done. -
IMP: How to Read LOG Files
Hey Gurus,
I want to read the log files after executing SE37 t-codes, I tried in sm21 but i didnt get any result.
Can U tell me how to read the log files ??
what is T-code for that? or i have change any settings???
Thanking You,
Regards
J SarathiHi ,
You can use these two FM for analysing the log ..
APPL_LOG_READ_INTERN
APPL_LOG_DISPLAY_INTERN
Or You can create A Zprogram using this FM
and check the changes using RSDEPEND -
SQL log file size is extending rapidly
Hello All,
We are using ECC 6.0, our database is SQL 2005 & operating system is Windows NT 4x AMD64 L.
Our database log file size is increasing rapidly, now its size is more than the all 4 data files (near about 300gb).
Last week I tried to shrink log file but it didn't worked.
Now less space is remained on disk, please help me.
Now the system is started giving dump at the time of log in, & the dump is like "START_CALL_SICK ".
I am attaching dump error text file.
Please help why is this happening.
Thanks in advance
MahendraHi,
I have backed up log file & shrink the file but it didn't worked for me
What is the result? It shrinks the log and release all the space (for all committed transactions).
How can i add another log file?
Can i delete old log file after adding new log file.
You can add another log file by following below steps. but in your case, this is not the right solution because you have good amount of log file configuration for your database (now its size is more than the all 4 data files (near about 300gb)).
Open SQL server management studio > Expand database > Right click on database > Select Files > Click on Add > Give the input parameters (Logical file name, path, initial size etc.) click on OK
If system is not allowing you to shrink the log file, it means you have active transactions in system which are continuously using your log file.

We have just deployed a 4-node RAC cluster on 10GR2. We force a log switch every 5 minutes to ensure our Dataguard standby site is relatively up to date, we use the ARCH to ship logs. We are running to a very fast HP XP 12000 with massive amounts of write cache, so we never actually write straight to disk. However everytime we do a log switch and archive the log, we see a massive spike in the log file sync event. This is a real-time billing system so we monitor transaction response times in ms. Our response time for a transaction can go from 8ms to around 500ms.
I can't understand why this is happening, not only are our disks fast but we are also using asynch I/O and ASM. Surely with asynch I/O you should never wait for a write to complete.Log file sync event happens when client wait for LGWR finishes write to the log file after client said 'commit'. The way to reduce the number of the 'Log file sync' events is to increase the speed of LGWR process or not to commit that often.
You've described your disk system as very fast - what is the amount of data you write on every log switch? How does the performance of this write relates to your disk system tests? what block size did you use when testing the disk system? as far as I remember the LGWR uses OS block size and not the DB block size to write data to the disk. Try to experiment on your test system - put your log files on the virtual disk created in RAM and run the test case - do you see the delays?
With such restrictions for the transaction time you may want to look at Oracle Times-Ten database (http://www.oracle.com/database/timesten.html)
Since you've mentioned the 10gR2 you could probably use the new feature - asynchronous commit - in this case your transaction will not wait for the LGWR process. Be aware that using the NOWAIT commit opens a small possibility of data loss - the doc describes it quite clear.
