  • ABAP to set "Switched on/off BIA indexes for queries" flag?

    Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if the "Switch on/off BIA Indexes for Queries" can be set for a specific cube by a delivered ABAP?
Here's my scenario. We go live with BIA next Monday 9/22. I've indexed our cubes in production BIA this past weekend and they're rolled up nightly. Until the go-live, I've manually set the "Switched Off for Queries" flag via RSDDBIAMON > BI Accelerator > Index Settings > Switch on/off BIA Indexes for Queries".
However, one indexed cube is deleted fully every night by the flag in the full load infopackage. In testing, I saw that the BIA fact table index was fully deleted when the E and F tables of the cube were truncated, and then reindexed when the full package is loaded and rolled up. This is all ok.
The issue is that after the delete, load and rollup, the "Switched Off for Queries" flag is not set. I have had to manually reset to off in the morning. This won't be an issue (hopefully) once we go live, but it does seem like a bug and I'll likely submit a customer message. I would think the delete, index and rollup process should not change the status of this flag.
Does anyone know if that flag can be programatically set?
    Thanks for any advice,
    Doug

    Thanks, Vitaliy!
I think you're exactly right. Its seems to be a bug in processing of just this specific type of index reprocessing, e.g. dropping and reindexing. The indexing process properly retains INA status on the other delta indexed cubes.
I'm barely ABAP OO literate, but do understand enough to find, review and test the class and method code. Thanks for finding it!
Also, I reviewed table RSDDTREXDIR and it is correct/current. It does spawn another question, though. The field ITYPE (Type of BIA Index) is consistently ICB exept for 2 cubes/indexes, which are typed as PA2 and PA9. When I check possible values on the domain, RSDDTREX_TAGGR_TYPE, it only lists ICB and ICF (Infocube - flat).
Any idea what types PA2 and PA9 are, and why these 2 cubes would be different? From my perspective, they're basic infocubes, same as all the others.
    Thanks again,
    Doug

  • Relay and DAQ for switching a DC Motor

Hello..we wish to use SPDT relay with NI USB-6008 DAQ card for switching on/off a DC motor. The DC motor has a voltage rating of 122V and current rating of 10A and it is used to pump water. The SPDT relay we have has voltage and current ratings of 12V and 6A respectively. Can this relay be used to directly control the motor, if the relay is energized from the DAQ? Do we need to connect any other component in order to use this relay?

You'll need a couple of relays.  You'll need a motor contactor that has a voltage and current rating on the contacts that work for the motor.  Many of these contactors have a 24V coil that.
You will need a 24V power supply.  Now you need something between the USB-6008 and the 24V contactor.  This might be another relay.  Or perhaps a transistor driver that can take the 5V DC output from the USB=6008 that will control the 24 V DC coil.  A USB-6008 doesn't have enough current capacity (or the voltage) to drive a motor contactor coil directly.
I'd recommend talking to someone familiar with electrical control circuits about your specific requirements.

  • ABAP program to switch On/Off a cube from BIA

We have some repost jobs on a transactional cube that fail because of BIA.(insufficient memory)
these jobs run fine when BIA is turned off for this cube. And once they have finished successfully we turn BIA back on. But turning on/off is a manual process.
As far as I know, there is no ABAP available to do this.
Has anyone else come across where you need to automate turning on/off BIA for a cube?
    any workarounds??
I know i can create a new user id to run these jobs and then switch off BIA for this user id.
But this is not an option given the security policies in our organization.

    Hi Saurabh,
it should not be necessary to switch off BIA for planning functions unless you read very high data volumes.
Did you turn on package-wise read (see SAP Note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1157582">1157582</a>)? Are you on a recent revision (see SAP Note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1308131">1308131</a>)?

  • Hey! I don't know if my MacBook Air is frozen, but the screen is gray with the apple logo and an icon below turning round and round as if it's opening, but has been like that for a few days. I've switched it off and then on again several times, still the

    Hey
I don't know if my mac book air is frozen, but the screen is gray with the apple logo in the middle of the gray screen, with the 'booting' icon turning round and round. I have switched it off fron both the power and power button on the computer, it goes off, when I put it on, same screen comes on again. Help Please!

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 3
If you use a wireless keyboard, trackpad, or mouse, replace or recharge the batteries. The battery level shown in the Bluetooth menu item may not be accurate.
    Step 4
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 5
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 6
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 6.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 7
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 8
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 9
Repeat Step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 10
This step applies only to older Macs (not current models) that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery. Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a boot failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 11
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • Turning off BIA for an individual query

    Hi,
Can anybody where I can go to turn off BIA for a specific query?
    Thanks

    Hi BW Novice,
I think there is a little bit of confusion within this thread regarding your problem. There are also wrong answers, I am afraid. If I understood you right you want to turn off a BIA index for a specific query, i.e., all other queries that touch the respective cube will still be processed by BIA.
If you follow thoroughly the below steps you will probably get what you need:
    1) Goto to transaction SE16 and enter RSRREPDIR as the table name and click the Table Contents button (upper left.)
    2) In the resulting selection screen, enter the name for the INFOCUBE that you would like to switch off for the query and press execute (the tick symbol.) Before, in order to help yourself in finding the correct query name later more easily, you might want to choose Settings  -> Fields for Selection from the menu and then check the COMPID field in the resulting window.
    3) In the resulting RSRREPDIR screen, the queries are listed by name in the column COMPID. Select the respective query and then press the Change button (the little pencil symbol.)
    4) There will be a list of fields displayed. Goto NOHPA (you might have to scroll a little bit further down) and check it, i.e., set it to true.
That's it. Do not forget to set the flag back after your tests have been done.
    Best regards,
    Sascha.

My software applications were unexpectedly quitting ( I Tunes, page, skype) so I downloaded Lion OS 7. It took 48 hours to download and 18 hours to install (and counting) so i turned it off and on several times. All i get now is a screen with the Apple Icon asking for my password with option to switch off or restart. tried both but it just brings me back to the same screen
    what do i do?
    thanks

When you decided to upgrade because you were having serious problems, you jumped from the frying pan into the fire. If the problem was the system, then reinstalling the current system is the way to go. But you had several application quiting, some from Apple and some not. so the quitting was something affecting all of them, and of course the system could be the culprit, but the system is not the only possible culprit. Replacing the system when it was not the problem only buries the problem under a whole new pile of problems.
Before reinstalling a system you need to make your Mac as trouble free as possible and back up as much as you can. There is a wide variety of problems that can affect many applications. Here is a short list:
Font problems. Use Font Book to verify your fonts. Delete or disable bad fonts.
    Disk, permission, or cache corruption.
Incompatible Startup Items, Login Items, interface modifications or menu extras.
Corrupted preferences other than those of the affected applications. Check preferences system-wide using the freeware applications Preferential Treatment or AppleJack
Insufficient RAM or lack of free disk space.
Programming errors. Bugs in application code are not uncommon. For third-party applications, check the vendor's Web site for updates to the application, reports of known bugs, or for information on how to contact the vendor for support. A bad program might be grabbing up too much RAM and causing the other applications to fail as well.
Corrupted application. Check the logs to see where the crash occurred.
    Other software problems or conflicts.
Corrupted Mac OS X installation. Perform an Archive and Install of your current Mac OS X.
Hardware problems. Run the Apple Hardware Test that came with your Mac.
    Try to discover the culprit:
Open Console, located in the Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities folder.
Check the Console and System logs for messages that may be related to the problem.
To open these logs, in Console choose File > Open, then choose:
Open Console Log and Open System Log
Messages in these logs are time stamped when the message was logged.
Scroll the log windows to the approximate time when the problem occurred.
Details of the messages may provide additional clues you use in troubleshooting.
Do not post an entire log to a forum. Post only the messages referring to the function or application causing a problem.
AppleJack is a free program you run in 'Single User Mode.' Install it. When you want to run it, press Command s until you get a black screen with text. Type 'applejack' and run the repairs.

  • Ive had my iphone 4s since 10th april and on three seperate occassions its switched itself off completely (whilst having battery) it then wont work for around 2 days, this is very annoying and I dont know what to do as its been out for around 12hours now

I don't know why my phone keeps switching itself off, I've never dropped it, had water damage nor any other damage to it. Ive had it for around 5 months or so now and it just likes to switch itself off for around 30-40 hours then work again as though nothing happened. Although this is great as it will eventually work its  very frustrating not knowing if it will switch on again.. at the minute my phone hasnt worked for about 10-12 hours. I went in to the apple shop and they said they couldnt see me for over a week as they were fully booked, I understand that theyre busy but surely they can't expect me to go without a phone/alarm/email for that time when I am paying for it. Does anyone have any help/advice they can offer? Thanks

    Standard troubleshooting...
    1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider.  Slide to power off.  Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
    2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider if it comes up. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    3. Remove apps from Recently Used list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Swipe up on the app preview card
    - Press the home button when done.
    4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
    5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
    6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

  • Request for switch off protection in coming new iphone.

    Dear apple
Subject- Request for switch off protection in coming new iphone.

I immediately call my iphone but getting it switch off, as the thief had put the phone in switch off mode. I search it in iCloud with find my iphone apps but getting offline till date. I use pass code & finger print protection that's why probably it can't be use by the thief, but it can be sell as spare parts by opening up its parts . I had do all legal formalities & inform my carrier to lock my sim. Recently I again bought a new iPhone 4s 8GB from amazon.com & using it now.
It is the time to welcoming new iphone probably iphone 6/iphone air in this fall. I have plan to buy it & a apple laptop but first iphone 6 followed by iwatch if you launch & than laptop.

Because I know the problem & pain when someone lose a smart phone with all personal details. So please consider this in your new device as a new feature.

This is a user-to-user forum. If you wish to offer Apple feedback, you can do so here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
As for your suggestion, as much as I can understand what you are requesting, if the device is turned off, it is off. There isn't anything Apple or your carrier can do about that. Having a device that is OFF continue to send a signal suggest all sorts of privacy and battery management issues.

I dropped my phone down the toilet and before I switched it off I sent a text. I have left it to dry out for the last 48hiurs. Is there any hope for my iPhone 5c?

Probably not. First of all, 48 hours is not enough. 5-7 days is better. Secondly, if you did not turn it off the very instant you retrieved it, it probably did worse damage. Even if it powers on, it's very unlikely it will function 100%.
