I don't know about your Mum, but I can't *tell* my Mum how to set up/use her computer! It's up to her and if she likes things I recommend she'll go along. The number of times I've told her about using Firefox and yet she still uses IE. So, I think that the OP has made a considerable achievement already by getting his parent(s) to experiment with Linux.
Auto-login is one of many potential security risks. Some are more risky than others. For a home setup, this is not major, unless you know that you have a lot of confidential information on the disk. Funnily enough, I've heard a number of cases on these forums where people have been hacked, and it had nothing to do with auto-logins.

All agents were logged of automatically from agent dekstop

Hello,
We had an issue last week where all agents where logged of automatically. By the way we have UCCE version 8, CTIOS agent desktop 8, Call manager 8, and 7961 Cisco phones. Agents were able to log back in and everything seems to be working fine. We are running duplex mode in call center. on the CTIOS server it show in call manger the agent destkop unregister, however the call manager and switch logs doesnt show unregister. It is really weird and on the switch there isnt any errors that indicate that packets were loss, does any UCCE expert out there know what could of been the root cause. The error on the CTIOS server says cucm faulire for all those phones but phones werent unregistered.
Any Suggestion please help.

All agents logged off, not just half? Typically when you run in duplex, half of those CTI OS Agent Desktops should connect to your secondary CTIOS server (50% chance at login). Are the effected agents all in the same location? To me this points to perhaps being a network issue if everyone was effected.
Can you run a report on the Logout codes for the effected agents? What logout codes were recorded for this event?

You're facing memory constraints in your device. Perform the following steps -
Give a soft reset by removing the battery for 30sec.
Check how much memory is free in your device to Options -> Status -> Free Memory. To view all the database size go to Option -> Status -> click Menu button then select Database Sizes
Delete less frequently used application. To delete go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications -> highlight the application you want to delete -> click Menu and select Delete
If you stored your picture in device memory them move them to your media card

Skype keeps logging out automaticly.

Someone kind of threatened to hack my computer and since that day my skype keeps logging out automaticly.Sometimes it stays on for about 15 minuts but then its logs out again.Sometimes it is totaly unuseable it will log out the instance you logged in and i am getting sick of it..They also tried to steal my gmail and succesfully used my hotmail to send spam to my friends and i cant acces that hotmail account either which is x[Removed for privacy][email protected] I even reinstalled windows 7 but nothing seems to do the trick. My Netscape home page won't log in automatically anymore

Under Panther, my Netscape homepage would automatically log in for me every time meaning my page would come up immediately (except after I cleared cookies, but re-logging in would make it do it automatically again).
Now with Tiger, it never logs in automatically, and obviously my password is stored somewhere, because when I hit "log in", my page loads up without me needing to enter my user and password info. I don't like having to go through this extra step every time.
Any solutions?

When I go to a website requiring login, and am logged in automatically, I still get prompted by Software Security Defice for master password. New w/Firefox 24.

If I go to a website that requires a login & password, and I have it set up to automatically log me in, I get automatically logged in (it remembers by userid & password for that site), but the prompt from the Software Security Device for my master password appears as well. I can cancel the prompt and it goes away, but it shouldn't show up because I'm already logged in. This problem started happening after I downloaded Firefox 24 yesterday.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Is there any way to log off automatically from a WIFI connection every time the device is turned off or goes into sleep mode.

I have a bunch of Apple devices in my house (kids) and don't like the idea of all these devices (iPads, iPod touches, iPhones) always being connected to my home WIFI. Ideally, I would prefer the devices connect automatically when they are in use by a human and log off the network when they (the devices) go to sleep mode or are turned off.

This is not an answer, more of a question. I know that when a pad goes to sleep, it drops the connection. We all remember the thousands of posts from folks who had trouble re establishing the connection after waking up in the early days. What is different now is the use of push, and notifications. If you have these enabled, doesn't that mean that the wifi needs to stay active?
I notice that I have notifications on the screen that came in while asleep, and I can only believe that the wifi saw them. This is different from the old behavior or re grabbing the wifi.
So, to Pam, on one the devices you are concerned about, turn off notifications, fetch and push, put it to sleep, and see if it drops off the network. I am kind of curious.
By the way, having the wifi active has not shown me any battery usage. The router certainly does not care. Security is at the router end, so if somebody wants to hijack my signal, it does not matter if the pad is active or not. So I guess I am not clear either on what your issue might be.

Java Program destroys Linux Server Display or Server logs out Automatically

Sounds a lot like a bug in some of the native libraries you use (or even in AWT). Try looking into your log files (especially for X and for your tomcat) to find out if any error messages are printed.
Additionally there are X servers out there that don't need any concrete display hardware to run (Xvfb comes to my mind, but IIRC there are more modern alternatives available). Usign that might or might not solve your problem, but would be a good idea either way.

Autounattend.xml needs to log in automatically...

We use FOG to image. We would like to automate the FIRST TIME LOG on steps. Would like the new user to power on computer and it boots straight to desktop. We don't want to see the "Set up Windows" windows at all.
We use sysprep /oobe /reboot I need several things to happen once the computer reboots. If there is a thread that helps me please post the link.
I don't want to input anything. I would like all these things done automatically: Set my computer name to match the serial number, turn on local admin account (password already setup via GPO, just not enabled since sysprep disables local admin
account), join the domain, login as domain admin (admin_robert).
Don't want to use MDT, want to do all within editing the XML file or WSIM.
I dont know how to upload my xml file.

FileVault doesn't log me automatically in after Migration Assistant

I've got a new MacBook Pro with Retina Display with Mavericks which initially I just setup without transfering information. Then I enabled FileVault. After restarting the EFI asks for my password to unlock the drive and then automatically logs me in. All is well.
Until I use Migration Assistant, that is. It set back a Time Machine backup from my early 2011 Macbook Pro without the 'computer settings', and now after the EFI password it dumps me at the Mac OS login screen. According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5989 I can choose to disable automatic login, but this key is not present on my system, so for all I know automatic login should work.
In console, I am seeing these suspicious-looking lines:

14-02-04 14:18:34,277 SecurityAgent[237]: Will sleep 3 seconds and try again (retryCount = 5)
This retryCount starts at 9, and would go a long way to explaing why I'm staring at the grey apple for so long at boot time. I should point out that I haven't set up anything OpenDirectory related: my account should be simply a local machine account, nothing more.
Has anyone encountered this before, or have any ideas how to solve this?

Recover log data automatically

Hello,
I'd like to create standby DB server for my SAP installation. I have a backup procedure, which creates logs files on remote host (files autolog.bkp.xxx).
Now, I have a problem how to recover this data into standby database server automatically. When using dbmcli tool, there's a recover_start command, but it needs a "version number" parameter. If I'm not wrong(???) this is the xxx in autologs filenames. And I have two questions about it:
1) Is there any command I could run on standby, that would tell me what number I should recover next?
2) What will happend if I try to recover wrong file (file with lower number)? IMO database should ignore already imported data and recover only missing one. Am I right?
My database is MaxDB 7.5.

if you wants to recover the database automatically the dbmcli command autorecover would be the best choice. For its using you need a complete backup history.
In this case you don't need to find out the right numbers of log backups. You will find more information about the options of the autorecover command in the database documentation

To second question: you will get surely an error message. Which one depends from the concrete recovery state, the last recovered backup and the wrong backup.

FORCE LOGGING disabled automatically?

Hi,
This is just strange that on a couple of my 11.2.0.3 dataguard environments on Oracle Linux 6 (64 bit) was found FORCE LOGGING disabled and I just enabled them. Now DBA team remembers correctly that FORCE LOGGING is always enabled while configuring the dataguard. I would like to have opinion from someone if he/she has this kind of scenario with him/her. Is there any way that FORCE LOGGING could get disabled automatically? We never re-created controlfile on primary or standby, but, we have switchover/failover scenarios which are not supposed to disturb FORCE LOGGING?
Or did we really forget to enable FORCE LOGGING?

Hi Salman,
Can you check the database alert log from the time when it was enabled first time.
Alert log will have completed information on what and when any command was run to disable it.

I was asked to do the below
"Database log mode" should be set to
"No Archive Mode" now.
Do not mix up "Database log mode" with
"Automatic archival".

ARCHIVELOG mode
The mode of the database in which Oracle copies filled online redo logs to disk. Specify the mode at database creation or by using the ALTER DATABASE statement. You can enable automatic archiving either dynamically using the ALTER SYSTEM statement or by setting the initialization parameter LOG_ARCHIVE_START to TRUE.
Running the database in ARCHIVELOG mode has several advantages over NOARCHIVELOG mode. You can:
* Back up the database while it is open and being accessed by users.
* Recover the database to any desired point in time.
To protect the ARCHIVELOG mode database in case of failure, back up the archived logs.

And I don't know if it's needed to have automatic archival enabled since the database will not be in archive mode.

OEM - errors and logs off automatically

I am using OEM 10.2.0.3.0 - with Adobe SVG 3.0, Windows Vista and Java jdk 6 update 17 - the problem that I am having is OEM will log off with this error --> unrecognized DOCTYPE declaration Image might not display correctly.
Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue - I get log off abruptly about three times per day.
My co_workers are using the same setup except they have java jdk 6 update 7 and don't have the issue.

I have changed all my environment to match my co-workers - IE Version 8.0.6001.18882, adobe svg 3.0, flash player W 10,0.45,2 JDK 6 up 7, OEM grid 10.2.0.3.0 The only things that I changed from my co-workers is I updated my flash player version and went from jdk 6 update 17 to 7. I am not getting the unrecognized doctype now but it is logging me off of grid when I exit MS sharepoint in my browser. It seems to have settled down the issues with automatically logging me off multiple times during the day. In the future with the latest update of sql developer I will be needing to update my jdk version 11 or greater. Any ideas on what esle I need to check?

1. Whenever I am trying to acecss Jive forums using the quick link it is automatically logging in with Guest user
2. I can see that no formatting is available this means I can see forms like general text not at all formatted.
