LOG-IN on my IWeb Homepage

I'd like to create a Home-Page whit IWeb, where our customer has the possibility to go in with a personal Log-In.
Is that possible?

No, not with iWeb directly.
If you are hosting your site on a server/host such as GoDaddy or HostExcellence, then you need to look to the server to be able to do this.
It is not an iWeb issue, but a server/host issue. Look here to make it work or if you can't, then you'll need to look at other web site software such as the CMS's like WordPress.org or Drupal or Joomla that do allow people to register and log in to their own separate pages.

Anyone know if there's a way to do easy referrer logs and stats for iWeb sites? I've found StatCounter, but that requires embedding an HTML code into every page, which is tough since you have to go in and re-edit it every time you modify something in iWeb.
It'd be nice to see who's linking my site and pages and entries since I have such a layrinthine site these days - any suggestions that don't involve the 2-step process of pasting HTML code into each page evry time I edit it?

Can you link back to an iweb homepage from a .mac gallery?

Hi,
I'm able to link from my iweb site to my .mac gallery, but how do I get back to my iweb site once I'm there? Can you put a link back from the .mac gallery to my iweb homepage?

On my page the link to the dotMac webgallery opens in in a new window. So there's no need to link back. Just close the window.
In case the gallery opens in the same window, you have to use the Previous page button.
You cannot add a link anyway, since there's no page to edit. The page(s) are created bij dotMac.

Your music will only be where you put it.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup cop of your computer.
Certainly you did not have our computer serviced without making sure your backup copy was up to date.

Thank you! Thank You! Thank You!!! I have been arguing with Comcast for 6 months on this. They told me to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Then I found this website and there was my solution. It worked. It was annoying that they told me to use internet explorer. The worst part is I pay them monthly. Well, as soon as my contract is up, I am done with Comcast. They still haven't figured out why my favorite stations aren't coming in. Funny thing is my roommate has Direct t.v. with no problems. At half the price. See ya Comcast. I am done paying for shabby over priced service. Thank you Firefox. I can't believe I pay for crappy service and this is free.

Error logging on only for iWeb

I have changed no settings and have tried connecting on many different networks, but for the past 2 days every time I try to publish my changes to my iWeb site, the following happens:
- says "logging onto .Mac"
- creates pages
- says "There Was na Error Updating .Mac"
I see no one else having this problem here so I doubt it's a Me conversion issue. I'm able to access iDisk fine and my syncs seem to be working as well. Are software issues like this covered by AppleCare plans?

It's interesting that you should say this since I have taken a fairly good look at other threads in the iWeb08 discussions and only see one or two which describe similar issues, and in none is there a statement from Apple definitively advising on the root cause.
You'd think that being down for several days would at least warrant a spam to members about the status?

After I clear the history I have to re-log in (even "my yahoo" homepage) to certain sites and reconfirm my identity , and videos on web sites require me to download a plug-in that was previously installed .

On the days I don't clear the history, My yahoo opens up with me logged in. Also when I go to games sites or facebook, I am logged in. Not the case after I clear the hist. Also I am required to request an ID code via email and wait for a phone call to receive it so I can access my bank account after I clear the hist. Am prompted to "click here to download a required plugin" on sites I frequent with no trouble. I click and the plugin can't be found, and no info regarding which plugin it is. First time it happened, a different site had the same problem, but my click resulted in an automatic download. This time I gave up and used IE.

Well, after hours of trying to figure it out I gave up and un-installed and re-installed that last verion of Adobe Flash Player and now it seems I can play games again in Messenger. Everything else had been fine just that. I can only figure it was because it was having a hard time updating the first time and took me 3 tries. So even though it said it was installed, apparently it wasn't done correctly.
Though when I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first I looked and checked to see all the things were enabled that were supposed to be and they were.
I even tried to go to the Adobe site and download the last version I had and couldn't find it. Kept coming up with the new version. Others said if you download a particular older version it may not have all the security features in it.
This really gets to be a bit much, especially when you're by yourself and have only a smattering of knowledge of technical things.

Logged into MobileMe but iWeb keeps asking to login before publishing

Hi,
When I go to publish site changes, a popup asks me to login to MobileMe. I follow the link and login but everytime I try to publish , the same login request happens. This is new, it didnt used to. I still have 33 days left of free trial and intend to continue with membership.
In short, I can I publish my site changes!!

I'm having a similar issue. I've tried the above suggestions with no luck. This problem appeared to come up without any sort of update or change in software or any other alteration to my system. I use the site to publish nightly homework (among other things) for my class and was using it successfully for months.
Now it's coming up as an error in publishing to mobile me.... and then might come up asking me to log in to mobile me which I am already logged in to. Last night after school I got it to work. Tonight it's not working after using previously used bandaid methods (restart, quit, "always allow", "allow" options etc.). Could it be some kind of keychain issue??
Any help or suggestions would be awesome.

IWeb & Homepage Browser Troubles Today

I can't seem to get through to either today, from a Mac or a PC, but the Apple's .Mac status suggests everything is fine. Anybody else having difficulty seeing their pages?
"Safari can’t open the page.

Yep. http://homepage.mac.com/USERNAME doesn't work either. I'm beginning to suspect that there's something screwy with the cable service provider, Adelphia, because other sites have been hanging as well.

IWeb not recognizing MobileMe log-in, won't republish

My iWeb stalled and needed to be Force Quit. Rebooting, it came up with the entire website needing republished, all pages showed red. But all content intact, so fine.
Clicking Publish entire site or any Publish, it says "log into MobileMe", which I am. I can't get around this, I've logged out and logged back in, but iWeb won't publish now and doesn't recognize I'm logged in. Help, what do I do?
I'm overseas, and need assistance to get this republished.

Try the following:
1 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
2 - login with a bogus username and password, like "test" and "test". This clears the caches.
3 - login with your correct username and password.
4 - launch iWeb and try again.

IWeb doesn't see I'm already logged into MobileMe

When I attempt to publish to my trial account of MobileMe I am getting a pop-up telling me I need a MobileMe account and offers sign up for one or asks me to login to my current account. I click login to my account and it opens MobileMe in system preferences where I am clearly still logged in. I attempted to log out and log back in, but iWeb still does this and won't publish.
Please help!

I am having the same problem. iWeb can't see that I am already signed in to MobileMe and clicking the iDisk tab gives an error message. I did notice that I can open my iDisk in Finder. Sync seems to be working also.
I just installed all the iLife updates (released yeseterday, 7/22) a couple hours ago. I was able to publish from iWeb once, and then the behavior started. I wonder if it has anything to do with the new iWeb update (version 2.0.4)?
But it also seems all these posts are from around ~10:15-10:45PM (I'm on Mountain Time), so I am wondering if it is server outage like what has been happening with some people's mail.

IWeb versus HomePage

I hope there is a solution !! Now that we have iWeb HomePage doesn't work the way it used to, as most of you have already found out. I hate it! I have a homepage set up with a number of photo albums to which I add new ones with some frequency. I used to be able to set up an album in iphoto and then click a button at the bottom to upload it to m .mac HomePage. Now, of course that button is gone, replaced by the iWeb button. Pages published with iWeb are totally different than those published with HomePage. I prefer the menu and album set up of HomePage.
I know that I can put my photos in an folder on my iDisk and then upload them that way and via the web wet up another page. This takes about 10 times as long to do because the photos show up in a random order and then have to be rearranged on the web which is very slow and dicey to do. Just now I was trying to this and after moving 10 or 12 pictures the page just quit, it just vanished. putting me back at square one! A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.
There must be a better way.

HomePage doesn't work the way it used to,
It's not Homepage but iPhoto that doesn't work the way it used to. If you go back to iPhoto 5 you can do things as before I think.

Why do I need to log into my homepage each time I open up firefox.

Ever time I open up Firefox I must log into each of my homepages,AOL, Yahoo, and Comcast. This just started all of a sudden, when I use Internet Explore it works just fine. Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
* Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
* In [[Private Browsing]] mode all cookies are session cookies that expire if that session is ended, so websites won't remember you.

Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

IWeb should be a .Mac homepage client software...

iWeb using a different webpage address for .Mac users, that make some trouble to people, cause they are the two sites on .Mac by one user. If I have my homepage on "homepage.mac.com", what URL I should tell my friends? iWeb can refer to a "homepage.mac.com" page, but .mac homepage can't do that. this means that I should tell the new URL to friends if I use iWeb homepage.
I hope they are the same URL, that will make it simply.

JT, If I'm understanding you correctly, you think that .Mac and iWeb should be more integrated, inasmuch as your website address(es) are concerned.
In my view, Apple dropped the ball on this one. It should have integrated dot Mac and iWeb so that those of us with existing dot Mac addresses would have had more integration between our now TWO or more sites. We are left, essentially, with two separate entities.
What i've done on mine is post a link to my existing dot Mac site, and on my dot Mac site, I've done a separate page with the direct link to my new site and an explanation of why there are two websites for me now. It is the first page that visitors see in the dot Mac main menu.
The other part to this is that I like both websites, but would like to incorporate the features of both into one. Apple flunked on this one. Eventually, I hope to move everything over to iWeb, and I think Apple is heading in this direction, because imo Apple would have made it easier to integrate the two if it wanted two separate entities in the first place - a company known for thinking different and thinking ahead.
Having said all that, my iWeb site is getting to look really good. I find it much like Photoshop - building the site with layers, images, etc.
For now, at least, we have no alternative but to hand out two different URLs as well as an explanation of why there are two or more!
