Log in to Win2003 Terminal Server with LDAP credentials

I have a Mac network with Xservers running Tiger, LDAP doing all the authentications, and Ibooks (also Tiger) for the users. My users are mobile users if this matters. The Ad department needs to use the latest version of IE (6 or higher) to view certain websites that have active X stuff in them and that obviously is not available natively on Tiger. We have a Windows 2003 server (that is not doing anything yet) that can run Terminal Server for 5 people.
Is there a way I can have my users use the MS Windows Remote Terminal client software to access the terminal server using their same credentials from LDAP? They do not need any home directories or anything else fancy like that, just needs to say the Ad group can get in but the Market group can not. I have tried making the Xserver the primary domain controller (seems to work so far), I just want to do that with out the home directory binding stuff.
Budget keeps me from going to Parallels+XP and I have not found anything that will make Firefox or Safari able to see these types of sites.
Any hope?

New MBP in Aug,08. Able to access WIN2003 file server with typical clicks in Finder. Then comes October upgrade to Leopard, and this results in only being able to access file server by Finder>apple+k>connect to server by smb://##.##.##.##
Finally in December after an "upgrade" on the file server done by our IT person, I can no longer access the file server. I perform either of the above approaches to logging in and it just "hangs"...no error message, it just keeps trying, but never says that it can't find the server.
So, the IT person has done changes like taking down firewall and changing some of the enable/disable settings recommended on other chat sites for similar issues, but to no avail. HELP!

Never mind...my password to access file server contained a character that was not acceptable. Once changed, access restored.

Use the Remote Desktop icon on the tray and make sure to use the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) on the 'name of server' field. If that does not work then use the IP address to connect.

Terminal server with license server move to another domain (disjoin and rejoin a domain)

I've to migrate an a terminal server windows 2008R2 with is licence server, installed on the same machine, from a domain let's call DOMAINA to a new domain DOMAINB, what will happen to TS licence server, i've to reinstall and authorise again and add
again licence or it will bring all licence with hm?
Ts licensing server and the terminal server are on the some machine. (it's offer service to only 5 users)

Hi Luigi,
You should be fine moving from one domain to another. Regardless I recommend you gather the original licensing paperwork, authorization number, license number, agreement number, emails, etc., as appropriate for the type of licensing program you purchased
them through. If for whatever reason you need to reinstall the RDS CALs you will be fine if you have the license documentation.
After moving the server you should test by connecting to the server via Remote Desktop and then verify that there are no warnings/errors related to licensing in the server's log. You may also want to create a RDS Per User CAL Usage report in RD Licensing
Manager, export it to .csv, and then examine it in Notepad. You should see in the file where the server has issued licenses to users in the new domain.

If you are using the USB Drive Daemon or manually specifying the mount then there are no issues with user access. That's only an issue with the the built in USB pass through included with SRSS 5 which is connecting directly to Windows and in essence the physical machine. The former is just mounting a network drive which is user specific.

I have to use my iPad in terminal server connection, I need a keyboard and a mouse, keyboard is not a problem, I would know if iPad could support mouse for this kind of connection.

NAC Guest Server with LDAP

I'm trying to get a NAC Guest server associated with an LDAP Server.
I was able to get the NAC Manager working with the same parameters, but the Guest isn't working tough.
My question is...where can I find useful logs about LDAP authentication withing the Guest Server?
any ideas?

Bump up the logging on all categories and check in the ensuing support logs. Also doing a packet capture might show you more information on what's going on.

Query OID server with LDAP protocol

Hi All,
I hope this is the correct forum to ask this question, my confusion level is increasing. We have an OID server installed to manage connection strings to our databases. We can query the OID server via an LDAP protocols, for example I can use the "cn" parameter equalling a SID, and it returns the hosts that the SID runs on. This works great. However, I want to search by HOST, and get all the SIDs running on it. Anyone have any ideas?

Index the orclsystemname attribute
$ORACLE_HOME\ldap\bin>catalog connect=<sid> add="TRUE" attribute=orclsystemname logging="TRUE" verbose="TRUE"
Then you should be able to use the orclsystemname attribute ( stores host name) to get the list of SID.

I cannot log into my remote mail server with my N9...

I am trying to login to my company's remote email. When I enter the address on the browser it then asks me for the username, then password, and after I enter it says authorization failed. I tried exactly the same from other phones, laptops etc and after entering the password it will log in. Also I can navigate and log in from my phone to every other page, even the bank page. Any ideas?

If deleting and adding it back in doesn't work, try to just wait it out. Yahoo messes with their servers on a regular basis and when they mess with the one your account is on, your account has issues. They often resolve in a few hours to a day or so.
Sometimes you just have to wait it out because if it's on their end nothing you do will resolve it.

Cisco Terminal Server with Meditech lab analyzers

We are having trouble configuring a Cisco 2610XM router (with an NM-16A) for use with various Lab blood gas analyzers that send data via rs-232 to our Meditech C/S health information system. We were hoping to replace our existing Annex and 3Com term servers with the more familiar Cisco term servers but we cannot get it to work quite right.
We do have the Lab analyzer sending date to Meditech, but in the data stream there is a null character (ASCII 0) following the CR character (ASCII 13) when we are expecting ONLY the CR.
Any ideas on what we can do to fix this?

Problem with Photoshop hangs/freezing for users on a terminal server

Dear Forum!
I'm having some trouble with Photoshop freezing over a period of ~20 minutes when you (1.) user the eraser with special brushes and (2.) copy and paste material from a PDF to Photoshop. As you might notice by the size of this post i'm getting quite depserate over here and need some help.
A Little background information...
Photoshop CS6 is installed on a terminal server with ~25 Active users where 3 of them are using Photoshop.
The operating system on the server is Windows Server 2012 R2.
There are no additional add-ons just a plain installation of Photoshop in that matter.
The server uses 40-60% of the memory most of the time (mostly a bit less, some times a bit more but never 100%) and 40% of the CPU.
There's enough space free on the disc.
The problem in detail...
There are two occasions where the freezing has occured most of the time. After it hangs for the first time, it will happen everytime you do any of the operations over a period of ~20 minutes and it's Mutual for all users. When it freezes, the whole terminal session freezes but the program i still responding (it's not getting set to "not responding") when viewed from Another user through the task manager. Ending the process as an administrator sometimes work, although from the moment i end he proces it takes about 10-60 seconds Before the program actually Closes and the user gets back Control. The easiest thing to do most of the time is if an administrator forces them to log out.
1. The first occasion is when you use the eraser with a brush that's not standard but manually added. The names of the brush packages used are:
Extacy__Elemental
KKC_Fractal
Kornkid's_Grunge_Set
and the problem is with all brushes inside those packages. The way i evoke the problem is the following:
     1. Start Photoshop
     2. Create new
     3. Fill the background with any color
     4. Select the eraser tool
     5. Change the brush to one of the ones mentioned above
     6. Program freezes
2. The second scenario when the problem occurs is when the users copy something from a PDF to Photoshop. The way i evoke this is:
     1. Open a PDF
     2. Select area and copy it
     3. Open Photoshop
     4. Create new
     5. Paste into Photoshop
     6. Program freezes
Solutions we have tried so far...
I've been working on this for several round now and i'm not entirely sure on what exactly i have done. I will try and do the following solutions once more but i'm pretty sure that i have tried most of them.
Update graphic card drivers.
Resetting all Tools:
     1. Select options for a tool
     2. choose "Reset all Tools"
Resetting presets:
     1. Hold ctrl + shift + alt while Photoshop is starting
     2. select "yes"
Tested if it matters if i have a pen connected or not, which it doesn't.
Removed the special brushes (but it still freezes when copy/paste from PDF)
Removed "save in background" and "automatically save recovery information" options
Updated to latest version.
Turned off OpenGL
Solutions i haven't, but will try...
Reinstall Photoshop
Change font preview size
     1. Go to "type"
     2. select "Font prview size"
     3. select "none"
Delete system font cache
Close all Adobe applications including the Creative Cloud desktop app (if installed).
Navigate to \Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\Appdata\Local
Delete the *FNTCACHE*.DAT or *FontCache*.dat files.
NOTE: The asterisk (*) indicates various numbers, letters, or words, such as FontCache-S-1-5-21.dat or COFFfntCache.dat.
Delete Photoshop font cache
Exit Photoshop and the Creative Cloud desktop app (if installed).
Navigate to the appropriate folder
Photoshop CS6 and earlier.
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe
Windows 7: \Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe
Photoshop CC and CC 2014
Windows 7 and 8: \Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC or CC 2014
     3. Delete the TypeSupport folder (Photoshop CS6 and earlier) or the CT Font Cache folder (Photoshop CC and CC 2014), and empty the trash.

Thanks for your reply but since the users work on the terminal server via remote dektop the only data sent through the network is a "Picture" of what is happening on the server. All the operations are handled on and by the server and nothing is executed on the users local machine. Also all files are stored on the server therefore the load on the network is minimum.
We are not the first in the World to run this setup and i know that this is possible to do since i've read about others running PS like this.

Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server c0000005 and c0000006 errors with KERNELBASE.dll error in RDP sessions.

We installed a new Server 2008 R2 server this spring. It is configured as a Terminal Server with 16 Wyse t10 thin clients connecting with RDP. We are a small resort so we run Springer Miller Host and SpaSoft. Ever since moving from PCs to the thin clients
and TS we have been seeing SpaSoft randomly crash with KERNELBASE.dll errors and also a lot of c0000005 and c0000006 errors. Springer Miller support says its a Microsoft Networking issue so no help there. The company we worked with to install this has no clue
so I hope to reach out to this community to solve this. I can also open support case with Microsoft Support but I am not sure if they will be of any help. Here are some examples of the errors:

There are no network specific errors in any of the logs. I am thinking that SpaSoft needs to be run as an administrator but I am not sure how to do that in this environment. We have disabled DEP for all but essential Windows processes. All of the firewall
and AV has been completely disabled, and still getting these errors. Is there a way to run these applications as admin without the user actually being an admin? Should I go ahead and open a Microsoft support case? Thanks
