Log In to Windows 8 by RDP with Assigned Access User

I've set up a user account called Kiosk that has Google Chrome as it's assigned app and seems to work fine when I log on locally. However, when trying to connect to the machine by RDP with the Kiosk user it logs in and immediately logs out without showing
Google Chrome or the desktop. There are no errors in the Application or Security logs, just the Logon and Log Off events.
How can I set this user to stay connected?
Thanks

Hi Luke,
First, please make sure that this user has been added to the Remote Desktop Users.
Here is the screenshot of my lab:
If it doesn't work, please check the event log to find why the user is rejected. The location of the RDP log is: Application and Services Logs --> Microsoft --> Windows --> TerminalServices
Best Regards.

  • Windows Vista conflicting with Clean Access?

When I try to log into Clean Access to use the internet, it gives me an error message saying that in order to fulfill all of my requirements and get into the system, I need to download windows defender. But Windows defender comes with Windows Vista, which is what I have...So when I try to download Windows Defender and install it, it gives me a popup saying that I already have it on my comnputer and that I don't need to download it. Any ideas? Anybody? Please? Am I even in the right place for this kind of question?

If you using Windows Vista,You already have windows defender. Ensure the version of the defender because if Windows Defender informed you that an update is available, you are running an older version.
Below are Windows Vista Supported Antispyware Product as of the latest release of the Cisco Clean Access software.

    AS Checks Supported

  • Providing SAAS using RDP with Administrator Access Token

Hello, I am having this idea of providing Software As A Service to my clients using RDP. The main issue is to protect the software from copy
I am planning to run the software in client's RDP session using "Run As Administrator" method. Is there is a security concerns against clients/users connected by RDP to gain access to the Admin token I am creating for them to use my software? And
eventually perform Admin level actions on the machine? of course I am planning to prevent the software I am developing from running any other process.

    Hello Amy,
Thanks for the reply. It is quite helpful. For your question my idea is to use the "RUN AS” command from within client's session.
Your solution is very appropriate but in my case it should be from "<UserAccount> Properties: Environment Tab " mentioned in the second article.
I did try it but nothing happened. The user get a normal login with a desktop even it is mentioned, in the Environment Tab's help, that only the specific program will be executed.
I think the problem is the server is not configured with "Remote Desktop Server Role". I did that configuration but I cannot restart the machine until
Saturday. Hope it will work out!! Also, I still don’t know with what kind of credentials the specific software will run upon client's login.
    Kindest regards,

  • Significant Computer Window Focus Problem With Verizon Access Manager 7.7.1.0 (2707e)

With the newly released Verizon Access Manager 7.7.1.0 (2707e) there is a significant computer focus problem with it.
What I mean by this is that if I am using ANY application on my computer with the Verizon Access Manager minimized to the Windows System Tray, something will go on with the Verizon Access Manager and it steals the window focus - I am unable to work in the other application unless I click on the application to use it again.
An example of this would be my typing to post a message in this forum.  Something occurs in the Verizon Access Manager and my typing is rendered useless unless I click with my mouse on the browser window to be able to use it again.
I'm highly suspecting whenever networks are coming and going in the Access Manager is when the problem occurs.
This problem did not exist in the previous version of the Access Manager I was using.
This is extremely annoying - please issue a fix for this ASAP!

I have found by not minimzing the Verizon Access Manager 7.7.1.0 (2707e) the focus problem does not occur - it appears to be a problem when the app is minimzed to the system tray.

  • Logging on with the same user?

    Hi all,
I know there is some rule that allows a user to log on more than once. A client of mine says they could always log in to the same company twice with the same username, but now they can't. They can only log on to 2 different companies with the same user name.
Was there a change made or am I missing something? I have tested on a single computer. I open 2 instances of SAP Business One 2007 and log in with the same user into the same company. THe first one logs on fine, the second one says "This user is already connected to this company". If I log on to a different company with that user it logs in.
I really thought you could log on with the same user to the same company.
The company has a distributed environment and people run around every now and again logging on at different computers (especially supervisors). This is a critical issue for them.
    Please help
    Thanks,
    Adele

    Adele,
I am not sure if you might have changed the default layout of SQL Management Studio, so you should
log on to Management Studio and go to Menu 'Window' -> 'Reset Window Layout'.
This will restore the default layout, which usually is the very same after a fresh SQL Server 2005 installation.
Now you should find on the left hand side the so called Object Explorer. In the Object Explorer Window you should see the SQL Server name, below of this should be
    SQL Server name
    +Databases
    +Security
    +Server Objects
    +Replication
    -Management
          +Mantenance Plans
          +SQL Server Logs
              Activity Monitor
    +Notification
Maybe there are some more entries, depending on the options choosen during installation.

  • Assigned access mode doesnt work for Siena Apps?

    Hey guys,
we have written up an App to do an about us type interactive experience and had hoped to deploy it to our foyer with assigned access to stop people closing the app/logging out etc.
Is there no way to do this? Assigned access doesn't let me specify the sienna App.
    Cheers,
    Jim

    Hello,
I am wondering if this issue has been resolved. I had messed around with assigned access and was planning on creating an simple local html site and have assigned access use IE but I did not like all of the ability the user had while in kiosk mode and using
IE. so i researched and found Siena. I have spent some time creating a Siena app to use as an assigned access user in kiosk mode but as described above.. Even though I have installed the published app it is not in the list of apps when I try to associate the
user with the app in assigned access settings.. Seems I have wasted much time trying to get something to work in kisok mode only to still be back at square one.
Does anyone have a solution or another app option to create something to display in kiosk mode where the user has very limited capabilities except for viewing what I want to display to them?,

  • Using Assigned Access on a Domain user account

We would like to use Assigned Access in Windows 8.1 Enterprise, but it appears to only allow locking down a local user account. Is there any way to lock down a Domain user account with Assigned Access?

No, it is designed for local user account. Regarding domain user, I think group policy is a better choice.

  • Prompt user for input when rdp with same user as logged in

What I am trying to achieve: user dragos is logged in on a domain computer. When I connect with rdp with the username dragos on the computer I want user dragos to be asked if he allows the connection or not not to be taken over.
When you connect as different user it is being asked, but not when connecting as same user as logged in.
Searching for solutions I found this: Administrative Templates\Windows components\Remote desktop services\Remote desktop session host\Connections\Set rules for remote control of Remote Desktop Services user sessions and give it Full control with user
    permission.
But it does not work as I was expecting.
Is there a solution for the logged in user to be promped if connecting with the same user name ?
    Thank you

    Hi,
user dragos is logged in on a domain computer. When I connect with rdp with the username dragos on the computer I want user dragos to be asked if he allows the connection or not not to be taken over.
As far as I know, there is no built-in method to achieve this.
You may try to search whether there any third-party tools which can achieve this, or write a script.

  • PC h8-1330a with NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 after windows log in black window with only mouse cursor

    Hi
PC is an h8-1330a, and the video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 with driver version 9.18.13.270 dated 29/08/13. connected to a samsung TV via HDMI cable. It is running windows 8.1 OS.
I have installed 1 additiona TV tuner card but otherwise the system is standard HP configuration as it was shipped.
I suspect I have had an automatic windows update mess with the pc as I turned it on and after reaching the windows log in screen and logging in, pc appears to boot into windows and I only see a black screen with the mouse cursor. I can ctrl+alt+del and see task manager but no other windows will display. I tried to switch users and log in with a different account and get the same issue.
I am struggling to enter safe mode or any other mode on boot up to see if i can roll back the video driver.
i have tried hitting esc then f11 to do a restore to no avail.
I cannot seem to enter safe mode on boot up via shift+f11 or f11.
my Dad has the same PC and is not seeing this issue.
wondering if anyone has any suggestions of things I can try?
hoping to try a software fix before trying different video cards/monitors to isolate the issue.
    cheers,
    andrew
    This question was solved.

    Thanks,
Shift + Restart from the log in screen finally got me into safe mode where i was able to perform a system restore

  • Cannot log into T61 from remote computer with wired network and Windows Explorer.

    Hi,
    I am using a T61 7662-cto with Windows 7 Professional
When the T61 is connected on the home network with the wired network, I am not able to log into it remotely from another computer. On my second computer, I see the T61 with Windows Explorer but instead of getting the login window, it appears a Network Error with the message:
“Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network.” With a error code 0x80070035, “The network path was not found.” I tried the “Diagnose” button but it doesn’t give solution.
When the T61 is wireless connected, there is no problem. I can access it from my second computer.
I never have problem to connect to the second computer from the T61 with any connection type . I just updated the Intel Wireless LAN (bg, abg, abgn) for Windows 7 – ThinkPad, with the drivers required but it changes nothing.
