Log out problem in all installed desktops

Hello, my name is Surf Bluecrab.
I have many distro on my system but I am new to Arch.
I have installed a month ago the "Bridge Linux" distro and I really like it. So far this is the one I am having the most fun with and software available
thru the AUR is quite recent and I am now becoming comfortable with PACMAN, PACAUR and Octopi.
I have decided that Arch will become my main OS alongside a well configured and stable Fedora that can always be used for system rescue and stuffs.
I have a question and a problem I would like to ask the community:
1- I was wondering if a system installed from Bridge would be considered "Vanilla Arch" and if I would be allowed to join the Arch community?
2- I have installed all popular desktops and compiled thru PACAUR some least popular ones. After a full system upgrade and desinstaling a non working 'Equinox Desktop' I have noticed a problem I cannot solve that happend in ALL my installed desktop:
I cannot fully logout. For example in KDE, if I logout, all windows and background shutdown but the mouse pointer keep moving forever never returning to lxdm ( the installed login manager that I prefer ). The funny thing is the same thing happens in MATE, XFCE, LXDE. The only way to fully log out is for me to log into console and kill lxdm-binary to automatically return to the graphical login. I am unsure if the problem is related to lxdm or something else. If anyone got an idea where I should look to try to fix this I would appreciate.
Well thats it for now, I havent read all the faq and rules yet so please be patient with me, I whould sincerly like to join this community, after playing with this distro for a month and learning a few things I have realised how much more tweaking fun Arch is compared to the others.

PS : I am also shopping for a Raspberry Pi, I havent decided if I'll go with Raspbian or Arch arm.

First, Welcome to the Arch Linux Community. You are in
But, as you seem to be aware, Bridge Linux is not Arch Linux. It is similar, but there are differences. Unfortunately, it is not we who are cognizant of what are those differences. The experts there are the people of Bridge itself. We will ask you to take support questions to them. We do that because our charter is to provide these forums as a resource to support Arch Linux. We do not want to allow confusion to be introduced by dealing with special cases to handle non-Arch distributions. In your case of not being able to log out, we cannot help you. The issue may, or may not be caused by the differences in Bridge. We are not going to be exploring those differences here.
As to your first question, " if a system installed from Bridge would be considered 'Vanilla Arch' ". If you mean, I installed Bridge, is it vanilla Arch, no. If, on the other hand, you mean this article on installing Arch Linux from an existing Linux distribution (In your case Bridge), yes that is a means of installing a true Vanilla Arch.
I will leave this open for now in the spirit of welcoming you to the Arch Community (even if you are not running Arch just yet )

Hello,
My skype always logs out unexpected,
on the mobile version right after I login... 2-3 seconds later Im logged out automatically
on the desktop version ( tried on win7 and win after a few minutes or suddenly in the middle of a call.
Can anyone suggest me a solution? It is not my hard or software. I am using Win 8.0 fresh install.
And I am using LG G2 with android 4.0. on a new phone.

Logged out from Facebook all the time on Lion's Safari 5.1.2

I constantly get logged out of my account on Facebook while using Safari.
What do I do to prevent this? (I have, of course, checked the "remember me" option.)

Sometimes clearing your login data can fix the logout problem. I've helped Facebook users with this issue in the past and that helped.

Login to Facebook. Click the black arrow that faces down to the right of Home top right corner of the Facebook window then click Help.
And try deleting Facebook cookies. Go to Safari > Preferences - Privacy.
Click Details. Type facebook in the search field then click Remove All > Done
Nothing in the Help section of Facebook... obviously they don't want to admit this. Same like Apple, no help files on this problem either.
I tried the cookie deletion, still logs me out

Oracle BI EE Log on - Log out Problem

hi everybody,
i haven't any problem with BI Administration but when i tried to log on Presentation Services with Administrator user Id and Password i can see the default dashboard when i click a link such as Answers or whatever else its log out me ... ???
another problem is in BI Publisher, i can't log on with administrator's credentials
what do you think? what is the problem?
there is no problem when i tried them with my notebook on XP SP2 , but on my test server Windows Server 2003 Standard Edtion SP2 creates these dummy errors..

hi again i discovered that in event viewer there is DCOM error, and it is related with Component Services but i can't still solve the problem...

Your BI Publisher problem is likely related to the fact that you never changed the default password for the BI Publisher Administrator to match that of the BI EE Administrator.
Go to:
http://SERVERNAME:9704/xmlpserver/
and log in with the old Admin password.
Then go to the ADMIN tab then USERS, then the Administrator user, then you can change the password.

ICloud log out problems

My mac upgraded recently to iCloud, so I logged in with my .mac account details, and it has synced all my calendars, address book etc. I then bought an iPhone 4s which wanted to sync with iTunes to register it. I had long forgotten, but that uses a different account for iCloud.
So the mac and the iPhone are now synced to two different accounts. I tried to log out of my mac and log in with the itunes account, but when I try to log out, it tells me it will keep all my data on iCloud and take it off my mac.
So I'm in this situation where if I log out, I lose my calendars and address book data, and it will be kept on the iCloud account I don't plan on using anytime soon.
How can I put the two accounts together without losing any data? I called apple for the iphone and mac, who said they couldn't merge accounts and itunes had to do it. I emailed them (they apparently have no telephone number from the uk to call) and was told I'd have a response after 48 hours but I've had no response from them.
Should I nag them or can someone else help with an answer? Thanks

According to your signature you are running 10.6.8 - you cannot run iCloud on that: are you in fact running Lion?
If so, go to System Preferences>iCloud and click 'Sign out'. Close the prefs, re-open and sign in with the correct ID.

FaceBook APP.... logging out problems... kicks me out

I have tried everything ..I think. Is anyone out there have Facebook log out issues when you are trying to look at notifications or upload a picture or just about anything else? I've synched this thing and restarted and deleted and reloaded but still having issues after all that. I have the Iphone 3GS...any HELP is appreciated

Oh, well, I didn't know that. I figures since I can log in everywhere else with no issue except my phone, that it was a phone issue. My bad!
So, where can I ask to get an answer to my question?

Logging out problems

I have my computer to disable automatic login, and I also Filevault on. The last couple of times I have tried logging out and running Filevault, it has not progressed onto my login screen, it has just said it is continuing to check for unused files or whatever it does, thus I need to restart my computer. I did this once and I logged back in and my dock returned to normal. Also, my mail account was deleted and some of my other settings as well. I re-did everything, then logged off to see if the same thing would happen....this time I logged off, but chose to skip Filevault, I logged back in and my dock was reset again and some of my settings went back to normal again. I tried to disable Filevault but it said I would need 4079.9 GB to disable it. Is there something that is causing this or could it be a number of things? Any suggestions would be helpful, thank you very much!

I would assume I have enough space to disable it. I have about 20 GB left on my hard drive. This is the message I get when I try to disable it...
Turning off FileVault requires an additional 4079.3 GB of free disk space to create an unencrypted copy of the home folder. Try emptying the Trash or deleting files you don't need

Log out problem

Hi,
My machine logs out automatically after about 2 hours when left untouched.
This is good for security I guess, but sometimes when i want to listen to music for example without using the mac it will still log out automatically. I have looked at the energy settings, have dragged the slider to never sleep but it still logs out by itself after 2 hours. Is there anyway round this?

Open the Security pane of System Preferences and check whether the computer is set to automatically log you out after a period of inactivity.

2010 MacBook air randomly logged out twice today. Installed new version of Flash earlier today. I wonder if there is a connection.

My MacBook Air (13" 2010) randomly logged out twice today.
The only new software is a Flash update.
Anyone experiencing anything similar?

Console is located in the Utilities folder, which is inside the Applications folder. I've attached a screen shot of what I'm referring to for visual reference. The import thing is that you get the information that Console logged just prior to the logout occurring.

GF4 ti4200 TV-OUT Problem. not all colors.

Hello, I have a GF4 Ti 4200 128MB 8X.
and i have a problem with my GF4 card.
when i use my tv-out. i don't get the right colors.
its like using 256 colors on the output image.
and i have tried diffrent cables, and drivers even diffrent tvs.
anyone have had this problem?
i also tried to change tv-formats and stuff like that. and the results are the same.
i formated and changes OS also and with the same result.
please help me. it would me appriciated.

I just recently connected a tv to my card (G4Ti4200) also, and had the same prob...your card should have come with an adapter of sorts. Its a y connector, the single end connects to your vid card, it looks like a ps/2 connection similar the a mouse...then on the other side one of the two connecters stemming from the single, is an s-video connector. Umm I dont know if that'll help ya but ... Good luck with it

Redirecting to anonymous desktop when logging out

As stated in SP4, I have tried to modify the HREF definition for the Log Out in "/etc/opt/SUNWips/desktop/default/iwtDesktop/menubar.html" file as following:

Make sure default is the right domain for your application. Each domain has its own log out page which you can redefine.

My sister gave me her old Iphone 4 but and i logged out of her apple accounted and logged into mine but sadly whenever i try to update or download a app ot asks for my password then it ask for hers why is that ?

I basically got this phone about 2 weeks ago and i cannot download or update anything . I would mind it asking for my sisters apple password but she doesn't know it so how do i take it off ? It will ask for mine then a few seconds later it will ask for hers . In my settings everything is signed in as me but i just don't get why it still ask for her apple id. I have logged out and reset all my settings and it still ask for her apple id. If i can figure out how do i get her password ?

Any apps that she downloaded onto the device are tied to her apple ID. They cannot be transferred to another account. To update those apps, you would either need her password, or you could delete the apps and download them using your own apple id.

Is there a way to have applications run in the background after I log out?

New to Mavericks, have a new iMac after being on Leopard for years. After I log out, all the applications I had running stop and close. Is there a way to keep those running? It seems like logging out, and the applications stopping, would negate the ability to see any notifications on the lock screen. I have multiple users set up on this computer, is that the reason?

By definition, logging out means quitting all your processes. If you want to log in as a different user without logging out, see below.

KDEmod hangs when logging out, rebooting etc

I just did a reinstall of Arch, and decided to try KDEmod for the first time. Unfortunately when I try logging out, or rebooting, all that happens is that I get a black screen with a cursor and then it just hangs like that. Does anyone know what's happening?

hi John, I was able to recreate the hanging InDesign when the Folio Panel is docked (as it is inside InDesign - Digital Publishing Workspace), and when I try the same logout process with the Folio Panel as a floating panel everythings works fine.

I want to disable auto log-out

I have a Mac Air OS 10.9.5. Normally, when I it is either idle for a time or I close the computer, it goes into sleep mode (but it does NOT quit all applications and log out) and requires a password to use it again -- that's the way I want it.
But sometimes, it when it goes idle or I shut it, it logs out or there is a count-down to logging out that I need to cancel when I come back in. Although I DO want to have to key in my password, I don't want to have to log back in because when it logs out, it quits all my applications.
How do I retain the password function while disabling the auto-log-out function?

From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy
If there's a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane, click it and enter your login password when prompted.
Click the Advanced button and, in the sheet that opens, uncheck the box marked
