</log4j:configuration>ThankQ,
Han.

hello DrClap,
ThanQ very much for reply.
I have tried what ever you said. As in my other therad you said to give the runtime variable path like
<param name="File" value="D:\MQS\jboss As\Tomcat 5.0/Dbg/debug.log" /> In that case it has created a folder "MQSjboss AsTomcat 5.0".
My Question is When it is identifying ${java.home} in the same way why it is not identifying ${catalina.home} or ${jboss.home}.
As what i understood is ${java.home} or ${catalina.home} or ${jboss.home} are variables which have some predefined path or property.
thankQ.

  • The following is working as a Java application but not as a DynPro App

    Hello,
    Please have a look at the following code:
    URL testURL = new URL("http://<host>/error.txt");
    HttpURLConnection c = (HttpURLConnection)(testURL.openConnection());
    c.setDoInput(true);
    c.setDoOutput(true);
    c.setRequestProperty("Connection","Keep-Alive");
    c.setRequestProperty("Proxy-Connection","Keep-Alive");
    c.setRequestMethod("GET");
    c.setUseCaches(false);
    c.connect();
    int cl = c.getContentLength();
    DataInputStream dis = new DataInputStream(c.getInputStream());
    This code is working well when I run it as an independent Java application but when I "plant" this code on a DynPro application I receive an I/O Exception at this line:
    DataInputStream dis = new DataInputStream(c.getInputStream());
    Can anyone please tell me why?

    503 error means a bit different thing. See http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec10.html
    <i><b>10.5.4 503 Service Unavailable</b>
    The server is currently unable to handle the request due to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server. The implication is that this is a temporary condition which will be alleviated after some delay. If known, the length of the delay MAY be indicated in a Retry-After header. If no Retry-After is given, the client SHOULD handle the response as it would for a 500 response.
          Note: The existence of the 503 status code does not imply that a server must use it when becoming overloaded. Some servers may wish to simply refuse the connection.
    </i>
    Can you track requests from both stand-alone Java and WD application via some HTTP tunneling tool to check differences in headers, encoding, etc?

  • Jave installed but not enabled

    Sorry, I'm sure this is a basic question, that I should be able to figure out myself, but hopefully someone will be able to assist me. I am trying to enable Java so that I can use/access programs that uses the Sun Java applet. I've gone to my control panel and see that it's on my computer. I've tried to re-download/intall it but it says I already have it even after removing it. I've done the "test" and it says that it's intstalled but not enabled. I've gone to Tools--internet options--Security--Custom-- there only seems to be a java option under scripting, but I've seen recommendations to make sure it's enabled in another section, but that isn't an option. I do not see the Java coffee cup logo in my control panel either and I can not access the Sun Java Console under tools either. It's there, but nothing happens when I click on it. Sorry so long, just trying to give some background into what I've already tried. Thanks for any help

    I also have an hs_err file on my desktop that seems to be related.

  • Datasource works with java code but not with sql:query dataSource=...

    Hello everyone! I have a small problem with binding a DataSource object via JNDI and retrieving it in a web application. This is the case:
    I did not wish to make the DataSource available through the server.xml, because I want to create applications that can be bundled in a simple .war file. So I create the DataSource when the context is created in the contextInitialized() method of ServletContextListener like this:
    InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
    Properties properties = new Properties();
    properties.setProperty( "driverClassName", "com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" );
    properties.setProperty( "factory",   "org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory" );
    properties.setProperty( "username", servletContext.getInitParameter( "dbUser" ) );
    properties.setProperty( "password", servletContext.getInitParameter( "dbPass" ) );
    properties.setProperty( "url",      servletContext.getInitParameter( "dbUrl" ) );
    properties.setProperty( "defaultAutoCommit", "false" );
    properties.setProperty( "maxActive",         "25" );
    properties.setProperty( "initialSize",       "15" );
    properties.setProperty( "maxIdle",           "10" );
    properties.setProperty( "testOnBorrow",      "true" );
    properties.setProperty( "testOnReturn",      "true" );
    properties.setProperty( "testWhileIdle",     "true" );
    properties.setProperty( "validationQuery",   "SELECT 1" );
    properties.setProperty( "removeAbandoned",   "true" );
    DataSource dataSource = BasicDataSourceFactory.createDataSource( properties );
    initialContext.rebind( "daers", dataSource );Please comment if you think this is a bad idea!
    All the above seems to work fine. When I try to retrieve the DataSource in a .jsp file then it all works fine like this:
    <% try {
            javax.naming.InitialContext initialContext = new javax.naming.InitialContext();
            java.sql.Connection conn = ( ( javax.sql.DataSource )initialContext.lookup( "daers" )).getConnection();
            java.sql.Statement statement = conn.createStatement();
            java.sql.ResultSet resultSet = statement.executeQuery("SELECT users.name FROM users;");
            while (resultSet.next()) {
                System.out.println(resultSet.getString(1));
        } catch ( java.sql.SQLException e ) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        } catch ( javax.naming.NamingException e ) {
            e.printStackTrace();
    %>But when I try to execute the same sql query through the appropriate JSTL taglib I get a:
    javax.servlet.ServletException: Unable to get connection, DataSource invalid: "java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver"The JSTL code I use is this:
    <sql:query dataSource = "daers" var = "query" scope = "page">
            SELECT users.name
            FROM users
        </sql:query>I do put both of the two above pieces of code in the same .jsp page and the first works but the second causes the exception...
    Any clues..?
    Is it illegal to lookup a DataSource in <sql: dataSource=...> if the DataSource is not registered in the server.xml file..?
    If so, do I have any alternatives (like putting the DataSource as a servlet context variable)..?

  • SSLException : untrusted server cert chain in java client, but not getting that with weblogic.

    Hi,
    I am bit confused about what i am seeing,
    a. i used java client to talk to talk to server, got "untrusted server cert chain"
    , ressolved the exceptio by adding certificate to cacerts file.
    b. tried to connect to server using another weblogic server and not getting "untrusted
    server cert chain", even when the certificates are not installed.
    i dont know why it is throwning the SSLException in (a) and not in (b).
    thanks,
    Nirmala

    Stand alone client takes its trusted certificate from the JDK cacerts keystore
    by default.
    SSL client running on server uses server trust configuration. By default the server
    is configured to trust the CAs with certificates in DemoTrust.jks keystore and
    the JDK cacerts keystore.

  • Connected.. then OK to disconnect. identified by windows but not itunes

    By this point i am very fed up with apple, my ipod, and itunes. I have had this problem since i first bought my ipod nano3g 8gb. I have windows xp, my itunes is updated and this problem persists with all 3 usb ports on my computer. when i plug in my ipod it says "connected" then it ejects itself. I can see that the computer recongnizes it and i hear the ding that goes off when it is plugged in. Then it disconnects. I have tried resetting it, uninstalling/installing itunes, and alot more. I need to restore my ipod because when i went to the apple store, and they restored it it worked fine for a month or two, then the problem happened again. I cannot restore my ipod if it is not being recongnized by itunes. I really dont know what to do but i have tried the support pages on the apple website already. Im open to any suggestions, but i have been on this website so many times. Nothing helps.

    I have had the same problems as you...This happened with my iPod classic (80 GB), so I got it replaced. Incidentally, this iPod classic is the last of its kind (80 GB)...Maybe because they don't work. At the "concierge" the Apple staff said it was a hard drive problem. They replaced my iPod with another 80 GB classic, and it worked for loading songs from my computer exactly twice. Now I have the same problems as before. Anyone know a version of iTunes that maybe this wouldn't be a problem with? I'm running the newest version. Is this problem only with 80 GB classic iPods?

  • JAVA downloaded but not connecting..ASAP!!

    Ok, Im stuck here!!!
    I've downloaded java because I need it to log onto certain sites and to run limewire. I have no problem with the downloading it but when I go to install it, it just sits there trying to connect but it doesnt work!!!
    Very Frustrating!!
    anyone can help or give me some thigns to try??

    If you're using http://www.java.com/en/ then go here and select Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 and download the OFFLINE install package. When the d/l is complete, click on the downloaded file and perform the install. It will guide you.
    If that fails. you have a problem - could be minor, could be major - with the existing configuration data in your computer. Check the Help topic at the above-referenced website, and do some searching of the net and of these forums, you may find a resolution.

  • Classpath, dos finds java.exe but not javac.exe

    Hi all,
    I have still been trying to have dos recognize the javac command. I have used many methods for updating the classpath and path in WinMe through the environment variable and in the autoexec.bat. I am using the J2SDK1.3.1_02. When I go to the proper directory and use the java command to run a .class file my simple "Hello" program runs fine. However, if I try to compile a new file ex. "Helloagain.java" using: javac Helloagain.java , I receive the "bad command or file name" message. This doesn't make sense because java.exe(which works), is in the same bin as javac.exe!
    My complete autoexec.bat file in notepad reads as follows:
    SET COMSPEC=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM
    SET windir=C:\WINDOWS
    SET winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS
    SET PROMPT=$p$g
    SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
    SET TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
    SET PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\MSSQL7\BINN;C:\J2SDK1.3.1_02\BIN
    SET CLASSPATH=C:\PROGRA~1\CANONC~1\PHOTOD~1\ADOBEC~1;.;C:\J2SDK1.3.1_02\lib\tools.jar
    I have struggled with this for several weeks. I have also checked numerous online resources. any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Well, that's what is wrong! Change the
    C:\J2SDK1.3.1_02\BIN to C:\JDK1.3.1\bin
    Kamranyes, that is what was wrong. I should have used jdk1.3.1. I had tried that before but tried adding version #'s like 1.3.1_02.
    The initial java kit I downloaded says j2sdk1.3.1_02 on the winzip file, yet it extracted to a folder called jdk1.3.1, which is the one I should have used in the first place .
    Now that I have the dos prompt working , I will go and use ForteCE. lol. Thanks for you insight.

  • Simple for Java guys but not for me,,,

    I intend to build an application that will serve as a front end to connect to backend database records. Ideally it will have a UI similar to SQL query tools like TOAD, SQL developer but will be more user friendly so as to avoid making user put complete queries. I have a tomcat server for my work. Please suggest the best way to create such application for a beginner
    I guess it will be JSP but need expert opinions

    There is no way at all, let alone a 'best way', for a beginner to create such an application.
    Why - that is the first question I would ask. There are already good tools that are free such as sql developer. So why do you think another tool is needed. And why do you think you could do a better job than those well-funded efforts have been able to do?
    And why do you think your project won't end up in the trashpile of history like so man other misguided ventures?
    Just enter 'sourceforge sql developer' into your favorite search engine and you will get over a half million results and the 'hot' ones on the first page are mostly projects that have been abandoned for many years now.
    Any project you embark on, unless it is for your personal enrichment, should fulfill some need that other offerings don't fulfill.
    The first step for any serious application project is to create a business plan and a marketing plan that shows the market for such a product and how you plan to achieve a return on investment.
    The next step would be to create a requirements document that outlines what functionality the application needs. One part of that would be what databases you want to support: Oracle, DB2, sql server, etc.
    You are a long way from needing to know how to actually write such an application until you are near completion with the specs.

  • My computer keeps restarting from a problem but not listed

    My computer keeps stalling and automatically restarting. It says there a problem and it will restart. I don't know what the problem is, but it's happening often. I'm running Norton on it again. Has anyone had similar issues?

    Mac users often ask whether they should install "anti-virus" (AV) software. The usual answer is "no." That answer is right, but it may give the wrong impression that there is no threat from what are loosely called "viruses." There is a threat, and you need to educate yourself about it.
    1. This is a comment on what you should—and should not—do to protect yourself from malicious software ("malware") that circulates on the Internet and gets onto a computer as an unintended consequence of the user's actions.
    It does not apply to software, such as keystroke loggers, that may be installed deliberately by an intruder who has hands-on access to the computer, or who has been able to take control of it remotely. That threat is in a different category, and there's no easy way to defend against it. AV software is not intended to, and does not, defend against such attacks.
    The comment is long because the issue is complex. The key points are in sections 5, 6, and 10.
    OS X now implements three layers of built-in protection specifically against malware, not counting runtime protections such as execute disable, sandboxing, system library randomization, and address space layout randomization that may also guard against other kinds of exploits.
    2. All versions of OS X since 10.6.7 have been able to detect known Mac malware in downloaded files, and to block insecure web plugins. This feature is transparent to the user. Internally Apple calls it "XProtect."
    The malware recognition database used by XProtect is automatically updated; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders.
    The following caveats apply to XProtect:
    ☞ It can be bypassed by some third-party networking software, such as BitTorrent clients and Java applets.
    ☞ It only applies to software downloaded from the network. Software installed from a CD or other media is not checked.
    As new versions of OS X are released, it's not clear whether Apple will indefinitely continue to maintain the XProtect database of older versions such as 10.6. The security of obsolete system versions may eventually be degraded. Security updates to the code of obsolete systems will stop being released at some point, and that may leave them open to other kinds of attack besides malware.
    3. Starting with OS X 10.7.5, there has been a second layer of built-in malware protection, designated "Gatekeeper" by Apple. By default, applications and Installer packages downloaded from the network will only run if they're digitally signed by a developer with a certificate issued by Apple. Software certified in this way hasn't been checked for security by Apple unless it comes from the App Store, but you can be reasonably sure that it hasn't been modified by anyone other than the developer. His identity is known to Apple, so he could be held legally responsible if he distributed malware. That may not mean much if the developer lives in a country with a weak legal system (see below.)
    Gatekeeper doesn't depend on a database of known malware. It has, however, the same limitations as XProtect, and in addition the following:
    ☞ It can easily be disabled or overridden by the user.
    ☞ A malware attacker could get control of a code-signing certificate under false pretenses, or could simply ignore the consequences of distributing codesigned malware.
    ☞ An App Store developer could find a way to bypass Apple's oversight, or the oversight could fail due to human error.
    Apple has taken far too long to revoke the codesigning certificates of some known abusers, thereby diluting the value of Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. Those lapses don't involve App Store products, however.
    For the reasons given, App Store products, and—to a lesser extent—other applications recognized by Gatekeeper as signed, are safer than others, but they can't be considered absolutely safe. "Sandboxed" applications may prompt for access to private data, such as your contacts, or for access to the network. Think before granting that access. Sandbox security is based on user input. Never click through any request for authorization without thinking.
    4. Starting with OS X 10.8.3, a third layer of protection has been added: a "Malware Removal Tool" (MRT). MRT runs automatically in the background when you update the OS. It checks for, and removes, malware that may have evaded the other protections via a Java exploit (see below.) MRT also runs when you install or update the Apple-supplied Java runtime (but not the Oracle runtime.) Like XProtect, MRT is effective against known threats, but not against unknown ones. It notifies you if it finds malware, but otherwise there's no user interface to MRT.
    5. The built-in security features of OS X reduce the risk of malware attack, but they are not, and never will be, complete protection. Malware is a problem of human behavior, not machine behavior, and no technological fix alone is going to solve it. Trusting software to protect you will only make you more vulnerable.
    The best defense is always going to be your own intelligence. With the possible exception of Java exploits, all known malware circulating on the Internet that affects a fully-updated installation of OS X 10.6 or later takes the form of so-called "Trojan horses," which can only have an effect if the victim is duped into running them. The threat therefore amounts to a battle of wits between you and Internet criminals. If you're better informed than they think you are, you'll win. That means, in practice, that you always stay within a safe harbor of computing practices. How do you know when you're leaving the safe harbor? Below are some warning signs of danger.
    Software from an untrustworthy source
    ☞ Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, doesn't come directly from the developer’s website. Do not trust an alert from any website to update Flash, or your browser, or any other software. A genuine alert that Flash is outdated and blocked is shown on this support page. Follow the instructions on the support page in that case. Otherwise, assume that the alert is fake and someone is trying to scam you into installing malware. If you see such alerts on more than one website, ask for instructions.
    ☞ Software of any kind is distributed via BitTorrent, or Usenet, or on a website that also distributes pirated music or movies.
    ☞ Rogue websites such as Softonic, Soft32, and CNET Download distribute free applications that have been packaged in a superfluous "installer."
    ☞ The software is advertised by means of spam or intrusive web ads. Any ad, on any site, that includes a direct link to a download should be ignored.
    Software that is plainly illegal or does something illegal
    ☞ High-priced commercial software such as Photoshop is "cracked" or "free."
    ☞ An application helps you to infringe copyright, for instance by circumventing the copy protection on commercial software, or saving streamed media for reuse without permission. All "YouTube downloaders" are in this category, though not all are necessarily malicious.
    Conditional or unsolicited offers from strangers
    ☞ A telephone caller or a web page tells you that you have a “virus” and offers to help you remove it. (Some reputable websites did legitimately warn visitors who were infected with the "DNSChanger" malware. That exception to this rule no longer applies.)
    ☞ A web site offers free content such as video or music, but to use it you must install a “codec,” “plug-in,” "player," "downloader," "extractor," or “certificate” that comes from that same site, or an unknown one.
    ☞ You win a prize in a contest you never entered.
    ☞ Someone on a message board such as this one is eager to help you, but only if you download an application of his choosing.
    ☞ A "FREE WI-FI !!!" network advertises itself in a public place such as an airport, but is not provided by the management.
    ☞ Anything online that you would expect to pay for is "free."
    Unexpected events
    ☞ A file is downloaded automatically when you visit a web page, with no other action on your part. Delete any such file without opening it.
    ☞ You open what you think is a document and get an alert that it's "an application downloaded from the Internet." Click Cancel and delete the file. Even if you don't get the alert, you should still delete any file that isn't what you expected it to be.
    ☞ An application does something you don't expect, such as asking for permission to access your contacts, your location, or the Internet for no obvious reason.
    ☞ Software is attached to email that you didn't request, even if it comes (or seems to come) from someone you trust.
    I don't say that leaving the safe harbor just once will necessarily result in disaster, but making a habit of it will weaken your defenses against malware attack. Any of the above scenarios should, at the very least, make you uncomfortable.
    6. Java on the Web (not to be confused with JavaScript, to which it's not related, despite the similarity of the names) is a weak point in the security of any system. Java is, among other things, a platform for running complex applications in a web page, on the client. That was always a bad idea, and Java's developers have proven themselves incapable of implementing it without also creating a portal for malware to enter. Past Java exploits are the closest thing there has ever been to a Windows-style virus affecting OS X. Merely loading a page with malicious Java content could be harmful.
    Fortunately, client-side Java on the Web is obsolete and mostly extinct. Only a few outmoded sites still use it. Try to hasten the process of extinction by avoiding those sites, if you have a choice. Forget about playing games or other non-essential uses of Java.
    Java is not included in OS X 10.7 and later. Discrete Java installers are distributed by Apple and by Oracle (the developer of Java.) Don't use either one unless you need it. Most people don't. If Java is installed, disable it—not JavaScript—in your browsers.
    Regardless of version, experience has shown that Java on the Web can't be trusted. If you must use a Java applet for a task on a specific site, enable Java only for that site in Safari. Never enable Java for a public website that carries third-party advertising. Use it only on well-known, login-protected, secure websites without ads. In Safari 6 or later, you'll see a padlock icon in the address bar when visiting a secure site.
    Stay within the safe harbor, and you’ll be as safe from malware as you can practically be. The rest of this comment concerns what you should not do to protect yourself.
    7. Never install any commercial AV or "Internet security" products for the Mac, as they are all worse than useless. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use one of the free security apps in the Mac App Store—nothing else.
    Why shouldn't you use commercial AV products?
    ☞ To recognize malware, the software depends on a database of known threats, which is always at least a day out of date. This technique is a proven failure, as a major AV software vendor has admitted. Most attacks are "zero-day"—that is, previously unknown. Recognition-based AV does not defend against such attacks, and the enterprise IT industry is coming to the realization that traditional AV software is worthless.
    ☞ Its design is predicated on the nonexistent threat that malware may be injected at any time, anywhere in the file system. Malware is downloaded from the network; it doesn't materialize from nowhere. In order to meet that nonexistent threat, commercial AV software modifies or duplicates low-level functions of the operating system, which is a waste of resources and a common cause of instability, bugs, and poor performance.
    ☞ By modifying the operating system, the software may also create weaknesses that could be exploited by malware attackers.
    ☞ Most importantly, a false sense of security is dangerous.
    8. An AV product from the App Store, such as "ClamXav," has the same drawback as the commercial suites of being always out of date, but it does not inject low-level code into the operating system. That doesn't mean it's entirely harmless. It may report email messages that have "phishing" links in the body, or Windows malware in attachments, as infected files, and offer to delete or move them. Doing so will corrupt the Mail database. The messages should be deleted from within the Mail application.
    An AV app is not needed, and cannot be relied upon, for protection against OS X malware. It's useful, if at all, only for detecting Windows malware, and even for that use it's not really effective, because new Windows malware is emerging much faster than OS X malware.
    Windows malware can't harm you directly (unless, of course, you use Windows.) Just don't pass it on to anyone else. A malicious attachment in email is usually easy to recognize by the name alone. An actual example:
    London Terror Moovie.avi [124 spaces] Checked By Norton Antivirus.exe
    You don't need software to tell you that's a Windows trojan. Software may be able to tell you which trojan it is, but who cares? In practice, there's no reason to use recognition software unless an organizational policy requires it. Windows malware is so widespread that you should assume it's in every email attachment until proven otherwise. Nevertheless, ClamXav or a similar product from the App Store may serve a purpose if it satisfies an ill-informed network administrator who says you must run some kind of AV application. It's free and it won't handicap the system.
    The ClamXav developer won't try to "upsell" you to a paid version of the product. Other developers may do that. Don't be upsold. For one thing, you should not pay to protect Windows users from the consequences of their choice of computing platform. For another, a paid upgrade from a free app will probably have all the disadvantages mentioned in section 7.
    9. It seems to be a common belief that the built-in Application Firewall acts as a barrier to infection, or prevents malware from functioning. It does neither. It blocks inbound connections to certain network services you're running, such as file sharing. It's disabled by default and you should leave it that way if you're behind a router on a private home or office network. Activate it only when you're on an untrusted network, for instance a public Wi-Fi hotspot, where you don't want to provide services. Disable any services you don't use in the Sharing preference pane. All are disabled by default.
    10. As a Mac user, you don't have to live in fear that your computer may be infected every time you install software, read email, or visit a web page. But neither can you assume that you will always be safe from exploitation, no matter what you do. Navigating the Internet is like walking the streets of a big city. It can be as safe or as dangerous as you choose to make it. The greatest harm done by security software is precisely its selling point: it makes people feel safe. They may then feel safe enough to take risks from which the software doesn't protect them. Nothing can lessen the need for safe computing practices.

  • Creating an OSB cluster but not with Configuration Wizard

    Hi experts,
    I would like to create an OSB cluster but not with Configuration Wizard. So my scenario for creating OSB cluster is:
    - create an AdminServer with Configuration Wizard
    - log into Administration Console and create two machines and a cluster
    - start node managers
    - configuration for starting servers automatically with node managers
    After these steps I have a cluster with 2 managed servers which will start with the node manager. However these managed servers are appropriate for deploying normal Java applications but not OSB components...
    My questions is what should I do with these managed servers to be able to deploy OSB components onto them?
    Or can I create an OSB domain only with Configuration Wizard?
    Thanks,
    V.

    Hi Pierluigi,
    Thanks for the answer!
    When I created the domain (with Configuration Wizard) I could set that the domain should be an OSB domain so I think I don't need this template afterwards.
    If I create an OSB domain (with Configuration Wizard) with one AdminServer in it and later I add managed servers on the admin console then I get this message on the OSB Administration Console: Unable to obtain metrics data from the server. It means that something is wrong with the managed servers I can't use them properly.
    However if I create an AdminServer and managed servers with Configuration Wizard then I don't get this error (or warning?) message.
    Could you help me why it is?
    Thanks,
    V.

  • HT4235 my iPod shuffle is detected in diagonostics but not in itunes

    I have iPod shuffle 2nd generation, identified in diagonostics but not in itunes working in Windows7. Kindly help.

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

    The default remote apps webpage will be shown with these demos. In order to remove them for all-users, You need to change the default remote apps url, not in the user configuration file, but in a system config file.
    unfortunately, because of bug 4933851, you can not just put a deployment.properties file in the javaws directory (untill update release 1.4.2_05, where this is fixed). Instead you have to put it in what they call ${deployment.system.home} which on unix is /etc/.java/.deployment, but on windows is ${windows dir}\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment

  • Java chat program, works on single PC, but not over internet?

    I got bored so I started writing a chat client in java, its IRC style, a server and as many clients as you want. It works fine on a single computer (using 127.0.0.1 as the IP) but not over the internet.
    I've tried running the server and client on my home PC, set up the ports to be forwarded on my router and enabled them in the windows firewall but I get the error "Connection refused" when trying to connect using my external IP (ISP) address, same with me running the server and a mate running the client.
    The class chatHandler was basically stolen off the internet, the rest I wrote myself or modified bits of code to suit. I wrote it in netbeans with the GUI builder.
    I've hosted both projects in the single zip, if you want to run the application just open the .jar file in the dist folders, or view the source via the src folder, or alternatively you can load the project up in NetBeans so its easier to play with the GUI.
    So yeah if anyone can help me out with why its not working that'd be great, I've added the port to my firewall (default 60111). My ultimate goal is to implement an actual protocol so it isn't just sending plain text, then I can easily send files to mates etc.

    what I have done recently is this:
    have added java.exe, javaw.exe, the ports Im using to the windows firewall and also the ports I am using to my router.
    I have also tried changing :
    server = new ServerSocket(port);
    to:
    InetAddress IP = InetAddress.getByName(IPAddress);
    server = new ServerSocket(port, backlog, IP);
    (IPAddress = 192.168.1.3 my lan NIC)
    As I believe it was binding to my local loopback adaptor, hence not seeing any packets when using a packet analyser, however now I get an exception, after printing a stacktrace from the client I get this.
    However I can now connect using 192.168.1.3 just not using my external IP address.
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect

    at chatclient.Client.run(Client.java:60)
    at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619)
    Why is my connection getting refused? I've set up a virtual server and port forwarding on my router, and turned off the windows firewall.
