Logged in twice as same user?

The computer that I am currently using is a Mac Pro with OS 10.4.11. Because it is a "community" office computer with multiple users, many of the settings get changed by people not knowing much about operating systems.
So here's the problem, someone using the computer over the weekend happened to get the computer logged in twice as the same user??? How do you disable one of the duplicate users? I've tried logging out of the duplicate user but can't get back into the system without logging back in as the same user, which in turn creates the duplicate user again... annoying! What is the solution. I've tried force-quitting & hard-rebooting the computer only to have the duplicate come back. Please, someone help

Even though it might look like it, there shouldn't be two identical accounts (I am guessing that the users do not have admin access to create or modify accounts). You can use the Accounts preference pane to see (or remove) the accounts.

  • Logging on with the same user?

    Hi all,
    I know there is some rule that allows a user to log on more than once. A client of mine says they could always log in to the same company twice with the same username, but now they can't. They can only log on to 2 different companies with the same user name.
    Was there a change made or am I missing something? I have tested on a single computer. I open 2 instances of SAP Business One 2007 and log in with the same user into the same company. THe first one logs on fine, the second one says "This user is already connected to this company". If I log on to a different company with that user it logs in.
    I really thought you could log on with the same user to the same company.
    The company has a distributed environment and people run around every now and again logging on at different computers (especially supervisors). This is a critical issue for them.
    Please help
    Thanks,

    Adele,
    I am not sure if you might have changed the default layout of SQL Management Studio, so you should
    log on to Management Studio and go to Menu 'Window' -> 'Reset Window Layout'.
    This will restore the default layout, which usually is the very same after a fresh SQL Server 2005 installation.
    Now you should find on the left hand side the so called Object Explorer. In the Object Explorer Window you should see the SQL Server name, below of this should be
    SQL Server name
    +Databases
    +Security
    +Server Objects
    +Replication
    -Management
          +Mantenance Plans
          +SQL Server Logs
              Activity Monitor
    +Notification
    Maybe there are some more entries, depending on the options choosen during installation.
    Kind regards

  • How can I get Firefox to run on a network with multiple users logging on with the same user name and password?

    I am trying to get Firefox running on a large network where I have multiple users that log on with the same user name and password. The problem is that when another user logs on to another computer the message comes up that their is already an instance of firefox running on that computer even though there really isn't. Only one instance can be run on the network at one time. I believe it is because firefox stores a shared profile as it thinks it is actually the same user even though it is being run on another computer. I repeat that each user that logs on uses the same user name and password but on different computers.

  • I have purchased a from within an app. I submit my password for the app, and then my Apple ID.  I then get the following messages "Regrant failure _ please log in with the same user that has bought this app"  and that is followed  by "cant conn with IT _

    I have purchased an item from within the app PocketBible on my iPad.  However when I try to download it I am asked for my app User Name and Password and then my Apple ID and password.  I give both of these.  I then get a message which says Regrant failure - Please log in with the same user that has bought the app.  That is then followed by  Pocket Bible Alert - cannot connect to iTunes Store.
    Anybody got any ideas, both what the 1st alert means and how I get round the problem please.

    I had the same problem. My wife had the PocketBible on her Ipad 2 and she transferred ownership to me. I had to delete the app and reinstall it from the App store(logged in with my apple ID) and its working without a problem. I do not get those error messages when I attempt to Buy/Upgrade or Add/Remove books.

  • I recently upgraded my old powerbook to an iMac.  I've dumped the files of my backup drive into the new iMac. Is there a way to have access to all the files (new and old computers) when logged on as the same user vs. logging in and out to access each?

    I am new to posting to this support community but have often referred to it for answers.  So thank you all who've contributed; you've been a great help!

    Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac.  You should be able to set a password for it. Save it.  Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer,  I suppose,  back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity.  As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
    you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,
    This handy article from Apple explains how
    How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support''
    don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
    and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
    time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine  and go for it.  You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups  of your stuff.

  • Login twice in same apex app by same user not possible

    Hi,
    In itself it is possible to login twice by same user in same appl.
    But when using both apps on diff pages eachtime the user is prompted to login again.
    Why is that and why cant'w we use the app twice by same user.
    It is possible to use same app by same user twice
    Thanks in advance,
    Hugo

    I think it is probably due to your cookie and the session state. I cannot use IE or FF to access the same application twice with the same id, otherwise if I do different searches or change pages, the sesiion in the other window gets confused and starts showing session state varibale from the other window. This is with two different windows (not tabs) of IE or FF running.
    But, I can easily use IE, FF, and Chrome to access the same application with the same credentials, and everything will work as if I logged in with three different ids. I barely remember this 'problem' from 'the old days', and cookies had something to do with it. It "may" have been that the solution (in some cases, depending on what you and the app are doing), was during the authenication process that every app creates and uses a cookie with the same name.
    Hope this helps some,

  • Restrict multiple log in with same user ID

    I have a JSF Project where I use Oracle JAAS for Login.
    The login works perfectly and also the components on the JSF page shows as per User Role. I am using OAS 10.1.3.3.
    I want to now implement the code so as to restrict simultaneous logins with the same user id. That is a user id cannot be looged in at once to the server from more than one machine.
    The login.html is:
    <form  name="loginFrm" method="post" action="j_security_check">
          <p>Log in to access restricted zone.</p>
          <table>
           <tr>
            <td>User name</td>
            <td>
             <input id="j_username" type="text" name="j_username"/>
            </td>
           </tr>
           <tr>
            <td>Password</td>
            <td>
             <input type="password" name="j_password"/>
            </td>
           </tr>
           <tr>
            <td> </td>
            <td>
             <input type="submit" value="Login" onclick="document.body.style.cursor='wait';"/>
            </td>
           </tr>
          </table>
         </form>The securityconfig int he web.xml file is:
    <login-config>
          <auth-method>FORM</auth-method>
          <realm-name>jazn.com</realm-name>
          <form-login-config>
             <form-login-page>/login.html</form-login-page>
             <form-error-page>/loginError.html</form-error-page>
          </form-login-config>
        </login-config>
        <security-role>
          <role-name>ADMINISTRATOR</role-name>
        </security-role>
        <security-role>
          <role-name>MANAGER</role-name>
        </security-role>
        <security-role>
          <role-name>INSURER</role-name>
        </security-role>
        <security-role>
          <role-name>TRACKER</role-name>

  • 2 users of the same username being logged in at the same time

    Dear all
    I was using my MacBook Tiger 10.4.11 to run Parallels and suddenly this bounding black box began to appear on icons and anything I selected (includes text fields and even the windowed Parallels that I was working on) I then restarted the system and when I clicked on the apple icon after restarting, Mac records 2 user of the same name being logged in at the same time. Anyone got any idea what's going on ?

    I have tried to log into clash of clans on my iPad and it just keeps going to a new game rather than the one saved on my iPhone. I have been using the game centre and same user name and password ?

    I have the same problem.. EXACTLY. .  When phoning Apple Support they had trouble understanding my problem and couldnt find any type of solution. No one seems to take responsibility for GameCenter issues. The assistant escalated the problem but no one could find an answer. .
    The only idea was to set up a new apple id, hence a new GameCenter account. . But that would loose all the itunes data. Anyone got ideas ?

  • Preventing user logging in twice to OID

    I have an ASF application that I am using SSO to protect and authenticate against the OID (Identity Management 10.1.4)
    How can I prevent the same user id logging on more than once simultaneously ?
    Cheers,
    Brent

    This is my trigger:
    --begin of trigger
    CREATE OR REPLACE
    TRIGGER PORTAL.XX_CHECKSESSION BEFORE INSERT ON PORTAL.WWCTX_SSO_SESSION$
    FOR EACH ROW
    DECLARE v_log NUMBER;
    CURSOR c1 IS
    SELECT portal.wwctx_sso_session$.id
    FROM portal.wwctx_sso_session$
    WHERE UPPER(portal.wwctx_sso_session$.user_name) = UPPER(:NEW.user_name)
    AND portal.wwctx_sso_session$.active = 1;
    BEGIN
    v_log := 0;
    SELECT COUNT(portal.wwctx_sso_session$.active)
    INTO v_log
    FROM portal.wwctx_sso_session$
    WHERE UPPER(portal.wwctx_sso_session$.user_name) = UPPER(:NEW.user_name)
    AND portal.wwctx_sso_session$.active = 1;
    IF(v_log > 0) THEN
    --portal.WWSEC_APP_PRIV.LOGOUT;
    --portal.WWSEC_API.DEACTIVATE_PORTAL_USER(:NEW.user_name);
    FOR c1_rec IN c1
    LOOP
    portal.wwctx_sso.clear_sso_session(c1_rec.id);
    END LOOP;
    END IF;
    END;
    --end of trigger
    So i test this by logging in once with user_test and the login process is ok but when i try to logout it gives me the following "horror" and redirects me to the portal which shows the user logged in:
    "Invalid Portal Session
    An error was encountered while processing your Portal request, because your portal session is no longer valid."
    The tests were done without login of a second user.
    What's the verdict? ;)
    Thanks a lot,
    Irina

  • Prompt user for input when rdp with same user as logged in

    What I am trying to achieve: user dragos is logged in on a domain computer. When I connect with rdp with the username dragos on the computer I want user dragos to be asked if he allows the connection or not not to be taken over.
    When you connect as different user it is being asked, but not when connecting as same user as logged in.
    Searching for solutions I found this: Administrative Templates\Windows components\Remote desktop services\Remote desktop session host\Connections\Set rules for remote control of Remote Desktop Services user sessions and give it Full control with user
    permission.
    But it does not work as I was expecting.
    Is there a solution for the logged in user to be promped if connecting with the same user name ?
    Thank you

    Hi,
    user dragos is logged in on a domain computer. When I connect with rdp with the username dragos on the computer I want user dragos to be asked if he allows the connection or not not to be taken over.
    As far as I know, there is no built-in method to achieve this.
    You may try to search whether there any third-party tools which can achieve this, or write a script.

  • Same User Twice

    Is there any way to merge a user with an existing login that exist for the same user. If I log in to a room and exit without disconnecting gracefully, and re-enter again with the same auth token I get a new user listed with number 1, 2.... etc added to the display name. Is there any way to configure this behavior so that a user re-entering with the same token is merged or replaces the original user?
    Thanks.

    There are two possible workarounds for this.
    One would be to
    Initially log into the room as the room owner for every client login.
    The owner could check to see if this client is already in there by getting the user list and boot out the existing instance.
    Logout from the room owner session and log back in again as the "real" client.
    Another solution would be to use the server api to check the user list and retract the user if they are already in the room. This could be kind of messy because it would involve some handshaking between your client and server.
    I am seeing this problem a lot more frequently now because the debug version of Flash 10.3 that I'm using seems to crash very frequently on both Firefox and IE. Any crash of the Flash Player causes the problem to happen.
    If it was possible to add a boolean param to ConnectSessionContainer that allows to either
    1. boot out the existing session or
    2. create a second session for the user
    That would be the idea solution. Is it possible that this could be added in the next release of the API or is a workaround the best way to fix this problem for now?
    Thanks,
    Barry
