Logged in Users and Speed

Does the number of logged in users affect the speed of an iMac significantly?

If one other user is logged in but not using any applications, will this affect the performance of the other user?

    How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?
    Sluggish Finder - Bunch of icons on your desktop?  An overcrowded desktop slows down your Mac.
    Get rid of needless Finder calculations - Open a window in Finder/View/Show View Options:  ensure "Calculate All Sizes" option is unchecked.
    Internet related - It's likely that your broadband connection is the bottleneck.  You can check your speed on http://www.speedtest.net to see how fast your connection is.  If your web browser specifically performs slowly, quit and relaunch it.
       If browser remains sluggish, empty its cache.
    Safari/Empty Cache
    Firefox/Preferences - select the Network tab of the Advanced preferences and click the "Clear Now" button in the "Offline Storage" area.
    Application related - Launch "Activity Monitor" - Applications/Utilities - click the CPU heading and see what float to the top.  If an application takes up a large chunk of CPU and won't let it go, it could be dragging down your Mac's performance.  Quit it by clicking the Quit Process button at the top of the Activity Monitor window.
    Too little ram - max out your ram.
    It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.  Which model Macbook Pro are you using?

    USR.ResourceID != CS.ResourceID, you need to map the username to the user logon to the PC. By using the user’s department information you will

  • Workspace Credential Conflict between Logged-in User and the Authenticated User

    Hi there,
    I am running LiveCycle ES Update1 SP2 with Process Management component on WIN/JBoss/SQL Server 2005.
    I have been encountering user credential conflicts from time to time, but it has not been consistent and the problem manifested in various ways, such as:
    - problem when logging in with error "An error occurred retrieving tasks." on the login screen
    - user logs in successfully but is showing somebody else queue(s) with his/her own queue with no task in there
    - fails to claim task from group queue.
    The stacktrace from the server.log file I collected from a production system shows the exception below.
    Has anybody else encountered the similar problem?
    It looks to me that it doesn't log out cleanly and some kind of caching is done on the authenticated session and is not cleaned up properly on user logout.

    You might want to Try Re-run the Config utility from the Linux-Essbase server and Re-register the Essbase with HSS.
    Start the Essbase in Foreground and check if it is running
    Now log on to the EAS/AAS with default admin/password if you havent changed it :); add your Essbase server using the Super user/Owner of essbase i mean the id..if you are succesful; i would always create a Test user as before Externalisation i can create users at EAS/AAS and then using Admin id ; i will push the Users/groups to the HSS by Externalising.. let me know if that helped you. • How to determine logged in user and responsibility in pl/sql?

    I created a procedure that uses owa_util.redirect_url to lauch a web application. This function is lauched by a function on an EBS menu.
    Before calling the redirect I use owa_cookie.send to pass the name of the user and the responsibility using a cookie. When I refer to fnd_global.resp_id or fnd_global.user_id they are always null.
    Does anyone know how I can capture the logged in user/responsibility and pass it to the web application?

  • Sharepoint 2013 delivers documents through IIS too good! Need to restrict by logged in user

    I have a Sharepoint 2013 app that lets external users (https://) pull data from SQL to create links on the page that the user can click on to get documents to pop-up in the browser so they can view/save them.  The page sends the user's ID as a parameter
    and the stored proc uses that to return only the documents that user is allowed to see.  Took forever to figure out... looks great... my employer is going to be impressed and save money... yada, yada yada!  Problem is:  If you knew the name
    of a directory on the mapped location and knew the filename (somehow), and you had a login that got you to the site, you could successfully put that address in your address bar and the document would come up!  That's a bad thing!  I need to only
    let users see documents they have access to.
    I have been playing with the app pool settings and advanced settings for the sub-site, but it still lets me pull items that the logged-in user doesn't have permissions on the server to get to.  I haven't been able to prove it, but I suspect that IIS
    is sending another login credential to the directory to retrieve the file... something like "admin" or something that can have wider access.
    Here is my setup:  I have a directory on another server that is mapped to the Sharepoint Server box.  I have a Virtual Directory that points to that mapped drive.  My Sharepoint Page is on a site of its own and is called with the URL "https://reportcenter.<company
    name>.com".  There is only one page on the site.  When the page opens it provides links to documents on the Virtual Directory.  When you click on any of them the files appear in the browser just fine.  Sharepoint is running on a
    Windows 2012 R2 Standard OS.  The test user I am using is "Client1" and they are a member of the "SP_Clients" group which is not a member of anything else in Active Directory.  In the file directory I went to the Share list and
    made sure my test user and the SP_Clients group is not in the list... if the system tried to use Client1 there is no way they should get access.
    Any thoughts on what I can do to stop Clients from getting to files they shouldn't be?

    Thank you for your question and reply.
    No, the identity is not passed as a URL property.  The way it works is that SP verifies the user and sends them to the default page after they sign-in.  Once there, the page evaluates the UserID value and that values is passed to a stored procedure
    as a parameter.  The user can't get to the page unless they are verified by SP, they can't somehow go around this.
    Now, once the page loads they click on one of files they wish to see (a link on the page that was created from the results of the stored procedure call).  The link points to a virtual directory setup in IIS that points to a mapped drive where the files
    are located.  The security on the files is set on the directories in their actual location.  I just need SP to pass the user's ID to the file directory and check the sharing rights on the file to see if this user has rights to get it.  It seems
    like SP is passing some other credential (probably SP_Admin, or Admin or something) which has the ability to read the file and therefore pass it back to the screen.
    I can't put the documents in SharePoint... they have to be in a file directory. The reason is that we have an elaborate program that runs every month to create these files and places them in the correct directories.  Somehow changing that application
    to create the files and place them programmatically in a SharePoint directory is beyond the scope of the project.  Under the circumstances, it would be much simpler to just provide the user a list of the documents they have access to and have them click
    on a link on a page and have the document appear in their browser.  Everything actually works, but I just have this last piece where SP is not 'telling' the file directory the UserID of the logged in user and therefore all the documents are available.
    All that needs to be done, is to make sure the userID is passed to the file directory so it can be checked against the security there to see if the user can have the file or not.
    I hope that makes sense.  I look forward to hearing back from you with your thoughts on this and how this can be accomplished.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • What is a "logged in user" on the "Active Sessions" report in CF8 Server Monitor?

    I was looking at the Active Sessions Report (The Chart View) and saw I have more "logged in users" than "active sessions".
    I had expected them to be nearly the same.    It's on our Intranet where I log users in (using cflogin and cfloginuser) at the begining of their session and users should be logged when the session ends.
    I couldn't find a detailed explaination of what a "logged in user" means.   There is a chance that the same user is logged into a nested application as well as the Intranet, but I don't think that is what I'm seeing.
    I also don't see a way to get a list of what CF is counting as a logged in user.  I can only see a way to get the total count.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Thank you Michael for the reply, but I don't think that is the issue.
    When a user opens their browser on the intranet, a session begins and they are logged in (using the cflogin and cfloginuser).    If they close their browser, the session should hang around for 20 min. (per the server setting).   I am assuming this is still considered an "Active Session" since I can see this behavior in the report.
    At first, the Active Sessions and Logged In Users are exactly the same.   When the sessions start to time out, the active sessions are reduced,  but the Logged In Users remain the same.    Then,  after a while, they start to move together.  So I have more Logged In Users than Active Sessions.
    I left the Server Monitor open last night and for most of the night, I had 0 sessions, but 57  "logged in users".   This morning, as people opened their browsers, the Active Sessions and Logged In Users moved together.   The gap of 57 looks consistent.
    It looks like people are remaining logged in after their session ended.
    I am really looking for a detailed explaination of "active session" and/or "logged in user" as used in the server monitor.  It would be really nice to find a way to list the details about each item counted in the "logged in user" and not just the total count.
    Thanks Again for your reply.

  • Reflecting the value of the logged in user in an af:inputText Column

    Hi
    I have a Af:table with multiple Rows. In one of my Af:columns I want to reflect the logged in user and store this value when I commit the page.
    I am using JAZN security. Please Help.

    Please follow the guidelines available at the top of this forum when posting. As such give us more details about what version of JDeveloper you're using, and which technologies including the model layer like ADF BC you're using.
    If you're using ADF BC, at the EO attribute level there are history properties for defaulting an attribute's value to that of the JAZN user. This is an ideal location to set this if you're using ADF BC. But as you haven't included any information about what model layer technology you're using it is hard to help you further.

  • How to use logged in user in the portlet

    Hi,
    From the portal application I have to get the logged in user and use the same user to filter the records in Portlet. I have to execute a view Criteria in portlet as a default method activity which takes logged in user as a input param.
    Is this achievable? Please let me know.
    Thanks in Advance
    Morgan.
    Its a duplicate of How to set userName from security context to Criteria in portlet
    Edited by: Morgan Freeman on Aug 24, 2011 1:24 AM

    It's possible. It's somewhat large to explain so i will write an example portlet. I will post the link to the application when it's finished.
    You just need to request the username from within your portlet. WebCenter passes the username to your portlet on the PortletRequest.
    From your business component you should write a query with a bind variable that you expose to your client. In your JSPX (portlet) you execute the method that sets the bind variable and create an InvokeAction in the executables so it gets executed upon load.
    That's the short description :)
    I'll give some more info when i finish the app.

    Hi all
    I need to know how can i show the user code of the person who printed a certain report.
    Scenario:
    When a despatch clerk reconciles driver cash they print a query genereted report , so i need his user code to show on the report... please check the query below... and make suggestions ...
    SELECT T0.DocNum, T0.CardName, T1.PymntGroup, T0.DocTotal, T0.U_ROUTEMARKTN, T0.U_RTNAME
    FROM OINV T0 INNER JOIN OCTG T1 ON T0.GroupNum = T1.GroupNum

    ORDER BY t0.u_rtname
    i need the user be copied from the logged in user and be displayed in the header level of the report.
    Thanks

    Hi
    To display the username you need not modify your query.
    Rather, Add a Database Field in the PLD and click in Properties and select Content Tab and set following values:
    Table: Users
    Column: Username
    Preview the report and you'll get the logged in UserName

  • Logged in user ID retrieval irrespective of UME?

    Hi,
    I have found below code which can retrieve currently logged in user and it's working fine.  Reading the code I assume this will only work if the user datasource is ABAP, will the below code work if we change to LDAP as user datasource?  If not, is there a generic coding which can be used to retrieve logged in userid irrespective of user datasource?  We are currently using ABAP as datasource, but we will be moving to LDAP soon, so I'm writing a WD app which needs to work in both situation.
    String strUserName = null;
         try {
              IWDClientUser wdClientUser = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser();
              IUser sapUser = wdClientUser..getSAPUser();
              if (sapUser != null) {
                   IUserAccount[] acct = sapUser.getUserAccounts();
                   if (acct[0] != null) {
                        strUserName = acct[0].getDisplayName();
         } catch (WDUMException e) {
              e.printStackTrace();
         } catch (UMException e) {
              e.printStackTrace();
         return(strUserName);

    I found this WIKI and thread
    retriving user details from user rofile in portal database
    /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/06/05/user-management-api-in-webdynpro
    Which says that below code
    IUser iUser = user.getSAPUser();
    getSAPUser() method, though it says SAP User it's not direct retireval from ABAP, it's from SAP Web App Server user which could be any datasource (R/3, LDAP, Portal UME).
    If you read in the blog right at the bottom in the user comments sections you will find clarification on getSAPUser and portal user.  This answers my question that I can use user.getSAPUser() method irrespective of user datasource(r/3, LDAP, UME).
    If my understanding is wrong please advise.  I'm marking this thread answered.

  • Logging in users without using cookies

    I'm designing a website using JSP for devices that don't support cookies, so I want to find another way to log on users and keep them logged in. The closest example of what I want to do is http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/ . If you completely disable cookies and you login, yahoo attaches a "ySid" to the end of each URL, which is discarded once you log out.
    How exactly do I implement such a process?
    I have a simple sign on page with a form and fields for the username and password. Once the form is submitted, "login.jsp" authenticates the user. Now if the authentication goes well, I want to create something like an ID that can be used only by this user for this session (right now, I set a cookie instead, which doesn't work on the cookie-less devices).
    Any help is appreciated. :)

    Hi ancade
    How exactly do I implement such a process?
    Well that's entirely upto the designer.
    Just like u said that Yahoo attaches a SID, so u can have ur own way of creating a custom SID. How u do that is the notion of ur brain.
    Say for instance, a user named "abc" logs in. Once authenticated, u can have a random number function generate a random number.
    Then u can declare a variable say user_sid and append it to the username.
    What I mean is, say the random number generated is 123456. Then u can append it to "abc" as, say, "abc_123456". Now this becomes ur custom SID...the way Yahoo does.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers !!

  • Widget for Logged On Users

    Is there a widget that will let one determine the users (IP or name) that are logged onto your machine, say for example, remotely? IS there there some other way of doing this?
    Thanks. Paulo.

    sm04-shows the logged on users of current server.
    AL08-shows logged on users of all servers in the network.
    Even you can access this from SM51 and selecting the server on which you want to see logged on users and hit user processes tab.
    mark as  answered if it solved the problem and reward points for the same.
