Title says it all.
Jive sucks!

Well, no..... I wasn't thinking they had a "motive" for not fixing the problem.... that question was somewhat rhetorical. To me, to say that Adobe's "motives" are involved means that they could fix the problem, but for some reason choose not to.
Of course they can fix it. If all else fails by reducing the timeout
on a cookie so people get logged out before they post a reply, after
they post a reply, but not while posting a reply.
I was wondering about the technical reason , which is a little different.
Cookies are well understood. If you want to set a cookie with properties
X, Y and Z, there is no technical reason why Adobe's SSO platform
shouldn't be able to do so.
You are then, saying, that they have a motivation for not fixing the problem, instead of there being a technical reason?
Nice try. I am saying that if they are not fixing the problem and they
had told me their motives under NDA, I would not tell you.

    Can't you guys fix this crap. or is this going to take a year or more because Adobe is cheap and won't pay for the upgrade?
    Why can't we just stay logged in all the time.

    Sorry, but it was the best I could do at the time. Besides, I did comply with the request! (You have to be specific with things you know )
    I'm confused. I thought that was the purpose of this forum? To post lame stuff. Like continually reporting that the forums stink and are slower than molasses and how Adobe doesn't care and all that. Yet day after day after day I see the same posts by the same folks saying the same things all the while using the software they are complaining about.
    If I've said it once... I've said it!
    I'm sure our fine Adobe hosts would like to see that policy adopted. Report something once. Step away. Give them time to address the issue. When you see a report that the forums software has been upgraded, try again. If the issue is still present, report again. But it really doesn't help anything to report something over and over does it? Kind of like if your boss asked if a report was ready. Does it help if the boss steps in every two minutes to ask? It hinders the process, no?
    After all, you can press an elevator button a thousand times, but it won't make it arrive at your floor any faster.
    Cheers... Rick

  • What does this statement mean: "There is a problem with your authentication, possibly due to inactivity. For your safety, you have been logged out and must sign in again to continue?"

    I am able to make it to the site for about 2 seconds and then I am quickly logged off and the statement, "There is a problem with your authentication, possibly due to inactivity. For your safety, you have been logged out and must sign in again to continue."
    I don't have a clue as to the problem but since this is impacting my participation in these classes and ultimately could have a negative impact on my grade, I am more than a little concerned!

    Have you allowed this site to set cookies?

  • UE-V 2.1 log out while off network failing

    Using UE-V 2.1
    Using folder redirection for desktop, documents, pictures, etc
    Win 8.1 U1 all updates
    Offline files enabled, machine is set to be always offline to allow for files to be locally cached so when a user goes home they do not need to get on the VPN to have access to files on desktop
    When user attempts to log out while NOT connected to the VPN the log out fails. The machine attempts to log out, and for a few moments the UE-V log out process runs where it begins to try and sync OS settings, etc.
    However after about 30 seconds the user is kicked back to the start menu. The following event is logged in the event log.
    Event 1077 "The attempt by user <domain>\<user> to logoff computer xxxxxx failed
    Any help with this would be nice. If the user is connected to the VPN during the log out process UE-V functions normally.

    Have you considered using the SyncProvider? You may want to read through
    this TechNet article and consider the implications of Offline Files as are discussed in regards to UE-V 2.0:
    If Offline files are enabled and the folder is pinned then UE-V will unpin this folder and sync directly to the central SMB directory.
    NOTE: In V1.0 if you wanted to use UE-V in a CorpNet disconnected manner (aka traveling with a Laptop), then the guidance is to use Offline Files to ensure that your settings roamed.
    We received sufficient customer feedback that turning on Offline files is a non-trivial enterprise blocker. So in V2.0, we created a tightly coupled synchronization engine to cache your data locally and synchronize the settings to the central server.
    This feature area does not replace Offline Files or Folder Redirection.
    UE-V 2.0 does not work well with Offline folders so the guidance is not to set the settings storage path to a pinned Offline or CSC folder.
    Additionally, you mention the logoff event, are there any corresponding events from the UE-V Event Logs?

  • Logged Out session can be accessed again After logout (DAD authentication)

    Hello,
    Please find the details of my problem below:
    SCENERIO:
    Current Authentication: No Authentication (USING DAD)
    Authorization: MYAUTH
    Frequency: Once Per Session
    declare
    lv_retval boolean;
    lv_srec pkg_myutil.r_sessionrectype;
    begin
    begin
    -- This is NOT Apex Session. I am checking the entry in a table to make sure user is logged in
    -- and the link is not opened directly. In short making sure user opened the Apex link from the
    -- Oracle Forms application.
    lv_srec :=pkg_myutil.get_session_info(:P1_SID);
    if lv_srec.valid_session then
    lv_retval := TRUE;
    else
    lv_retval := FALSE;
    end if;
    exception
    when others then
    lv_retval := FALSE;
    end;
    return lv_retval;
    end;
    The Application Security property Authorization is set to : MYAUTH
    Logout Navigation Bar Entries-URL TARGET: http://myapp.mycompany.com/pls/apex/apex_custom_auth.logout?p_this_app=105&p_next_url=http://mycompany.com
    ( I cannot put this in the Authentication Logout URL as using -DATABASE- as sentry function (DAD authentication) gives me error: No functional attributes may be set when page sentry function is '-DATABASE-'.))
    so i directly modified the navigation bar entry
    Now I open the apex link from my forms application, and it Works fine. For example
    http://myapp.mycompany.com/pls/QRYONLYDAD/f?p=105:1:2524984933940261::NO::P1_SID:0137099300:
    The authorization function takes the P1_SID value and checks in database,finds the entry so returns TRUE to display the page 1 which i call Menu page.
    If I click logout, it works and takes me to the Mycompany home page.
    My question:
    If save that link and try to access it again AFTER LOGOUT, it still displays the page. Although the session is logged out, how come it still allows to access the page? The authorization function also doesn't fire which would have prevented it atleast. How APEX knows it still a valid session even after logout happens?
    I can see that Since there is DAD authentication, the login happens automatically........ but I cannot change that method. What other option do i have?
    Please help.
    Jay

    1.) Code for the function:
    Basically we are using a private DBMS_PIPE to pass a randomly generated string and read that pipe from Apex using get_session_info. Nothing to do with Apex Session. We just want to make sure the user opened the Apex link from the application.
    function get_session_info (p_session_id varchar2) return pkg_myutil.r_sessionrectype is
    rv_sessionrec eft.pkg_myutil.r_sessionrectype;
    lv_status NUMBER;
    lv_app_id varchar2(20);
    lv_EMPID VARCHAR2(20);
    lv_timeout BINARY_INTEGER := 0; --A timeout of 0 allows you to read without blocking. otherwise the pipe will keep waiting and our purpose won't be solved
    lv_rmstatus number;
    begin
    begin
    -- Valid Session theme: If the pipe doesnot exist means the url is not requested from inside the Forms application.
    lv_status := DBMS_PIPE.RECEIVE_MESSAGE(p_session_id,lv_timeout);
    IF lv_status <> 0 THEN
    raise_application_error(-20003,'Error while receiving.Status = ' || lv_status);
    END IF;
    DBMS_PIPE.UNPACK_MESSAGE(lv_app_id);
    DBMS_PIPE.UNPACK_MESSAGE(lv_EMPID);
    if lv_EMPID is null then
    raise_application_error(-20004,'User EMPID is null in the session info.');
    end if;
    -- construct return record
    rv_sessionrec.session_id:=p_session_id;
    rv_sessionrec.valid_session :=TRUE;
    -- remove pipe
    lv_rmstatus:=DBMS_PIPE.REMOVE_PIPE(p_session_id);
    if lv_rmstatus <> 0 then
    null; -- think what to do
    end if;
    exception
    when others then
    rv_sessionrec.session_id:=p_session_id;
    rv_sessionrec.valid_session :=FALSE;
    end;
    return rv_sessionrec;
    end get_session_info;
    2.) I guess you are right. But doesn't Apex use the Userid and password hardcoded in the DAD? because it displays the username in DAD on the page footer. But It will authenticate everytime. So I want to put another layer so that my pipe verification code executes everytime which can decide whether to show the page or redirect to a error page.
    If i put in a On-Load Before Header Process on Page 1 with the pl/sql code, is there a way there to redirect to different page? I couldn't think of a way to do it. Then i can remove the code from authorization scheme and add to the On-Load process?
    Does this help any?
    Thanks for your prompt response.
    Thanks,
    Jay

  • Automatic Log-out while iTunes is playing

    For a long time neither I nor Apple technical representatives were able to figure out why my system would automatically log out after some time when its only activity was playing something in iTunes.
    Finally I figured out that playing something in iTunes disables automatic sleep settings, but it does not disable automatic log-out in System Preferences > Security > "Log out after _ minutes of inactivity". In order to prevent automatic log-out, you have to disable this setting.
    I wonder if this is an oversight in the iTunes program, because other programs (e.g. Pages, Numbers) cancel this automatic log-out if there is an unsaved document open. Having something playing in iTunes really should do this as well.

    Thanks so much for posting this solution. Was driving me nuts. Using Airtunes to provide party music was consistently getting embarrassing just as we were sitting down to dinner and I had to excuse myself to get up to log-in on the computer again.... ridiculous... can't thank you enough for pointing to the solution.

    When will this get fixed?

    Excuse me instead of quote I should have said Paraphrase

     All I know I don't appreciate being called on the carpet for quoting a individual and the individual saying they didn't say it, and there is proof he/she did.
    First of all, until 10 minutes ago you didn't quote anything. Quoting is to repeat verbatim what somebody else has said or written. I have no objection against being quoted (attribution appreciated), but just quote me and don't provide your interpretation as if they were my words.
    Now, let's analyze in detail what was written. First what I wrote:
    Jive is on a release train model where a back to back fix / enhancement takes 9 to 12 weeks and Adobe is currently on a twice a year update cycle. Even if everything is scheduled immediately it may take 9 months for fixes to become visible.
    Then what you wrote:
    that the combination Adobe's upgrade cycle, and Jive's it will be about 9 months before the next upgrade.
    So I am providing three timelines:
    1. Jive takes 9 to 12 weeks for individual fixes.
    2.  Adobe currently updates twice a year.
    3. Fixes may take 9 months if we add up the time for Jive and Adobe.
    "So at no point did I write that the time until the next upgrade was to be about 9 months. Individual fixes may take that long, but all I said about updates is that Adobe currently updates twice a year. The extrapolation from 9 months for individual fixes to an update in 9 months is yours. And if you wish to ignoring that we are well into an update cycle already that is fine, but don't claim that that information comes from me."
    "If you can't paraphrase me correctly, quote me."
    still you did say it may take 9 months for fixes become visible.  which does appear from your calulations 12 weeks = 3 months, and twice yearly (for adobe) = 6 months
    My appologies for my slight misquote/paraphrase.

  • How to keep acrobat from logging out while working on a pdf

    three times now i open a pdf and I highlight and make notes then once I click back instead of auto saving it asks me to log in losing my work. How can I prevent it from doing this?

    guess different people have different air sizes I stopped using mine when running because that made them fall out otherwise I never had any issues
    for my running troubles I bought a a2dp bluetooth behind the neck headset works perfect

  • My iMac keeps logging me out while I work

    A few days ago my iMac (running Snow Leopard 10.6.8) started spontaneously logging me out, while I was working. It has happened several times since then..
    At first I thought perhaps I was pushing some kind of shortcut, but now it's been happening when I am browsing the internet using only my mouse. It doesn't seem to matter what programme I am running.. today it even logged out while I was running a Disk Repair.
    My machine is pretty clean and well looked after. I have run all the latest Apple and software updates. I am the only user/admin on this machine.
    I am trying to finish a really large project in Indesign, and this is very frustrating!
    Please help!

    Are there other users on your Mac? The reason I ask is that when you have to reenter your password if it has logged you out you'll see all of the user names....if the screen just went to sleep and required a password to wake then only your user name will show.
    Are you sure that require password isn't checked in security?

  • After latest update, I keep getting logged out of my email, even in the middle of reading emails!

    Approximately two weeks ago, I installed an update to Firefox. Immediately after that, I keep getting signed out of my email, even while I'm in the middle of reading it or composing an email! It's very frustrating!

    Check the Security panel of System Preferences and see if there's a select under the "General" tab of "Log out after xx minutes of inactivity".  If that's not the case, launch the Console utility and see if there are any messages that might explain the log out.

  • Logging out without closing programs?

    Is this possible? I would like to log out while I am away from my computer, but would like to have my programs that are open stay open. I usually have 3 or 4 of the creative suite programs open while I am working, and when I log out they all close, and I have to relaunch all of them.

    Ok, I realized for it to log out I have to have my computer go to sleep. I usually only have the display go to sleep b/c I heard it is bad to have you computer set to go to sleep that often. So there is really no way for me to make someone have to log in without putting my computer to sleep, or logging off and closing all my apps. ??

  • Why does my Mac Air keeps logging out and restarting

    Can you explain to me why my Mac Air keeps giving me this message? In the middle of a download and I get this when the computer goes into sleep. Once I get this message it will keep trying to log out until finally I log out and then back in again.

    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy
    If there's a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane, click it and enter your login password when prompted.
    Click the Advanced button and, in the sheet that opens, uncheck the box marked

  • Lost all my offline music when I logged out

    For some reason when I logged out of my account on iPhone 6 it lost all of my offline music the only thing that stayed was my playlist. Any help on getting this back ? FYI the only thing I use my apology account is on my phone don't have one on computer or anything.

    As far as I know is that when you log out, all he local data is removed. Your playlist will always be there when you log in again, but your phone will remove offline music when you log out.
