Logging, capturing and shooting all at the same time
Hello,
I have FCP 5 loaded on my MacBook Pro and trying to log, capture, and shoot at the same time.
Here is my set up. I have my canon XL-1s recording to tape, also i have firewire running from the camera to the computer. FCP has the log and capture window open i receive timecode, picture and sound. I can log the clips as they happen and it gets placed in the bin.
How can i have FCP capture "now" with an offline Photo JPEG compression, as i shoot?

The firewire out from your camera must be captured using Capture Now. Unfortunately the file you capture will not have the same timecode associated with it as the tape - a massive pain if the need to recapture arises.
In order to edit while recording, you need a hardware/software solution such as Picture Ready
Not inexpensive, but if your project will support it ...

Rotating guns and shooting them at the same time?
I put the registration point as the gun's arms. So then the gun would rotate from the arms. But then the bullets come out from the registration point as well. So if I make the registration point on the barrel of the gun, the gun would rotate from the barrel and then shoot from the barrel. So I'm a bit confused where is the right place to place the registration point.
Now what I want would be: Shooting the bullets from the barrel, not the arms. And also rotating by placing an axis on the arms, not the barrel. At the same time.
I tried tweeking it like, bullet.x = x - 100 to make the bullet placed on the barrel and come out from there, but if i rotate let's say (180 degrees) it shoots from the from x - 100 but then the gun is on the other side, so the bullet wouldn't be coming out from the barrel anymore.
I also tried tweeking it by adding a movieclip INSIDE the movieclip gun's barrel so the bullets would come from THAT location, but it shot bullets weirdly and not in the right position.
here is my code, is there any modifications i can put? so it can shoot from the barrel regardless of rotating the gun and changing positions, and also rotate from the arms at the same time? if there is any other solution to tweek it, thanks a lot.

Thank you for reading, sorry if it was long.For some reason, the gun's bullets still come out from the registration point. The registration points are on the arms, the gun is facing right and the barrel is at the end of the right.
But I tried this code but the bullet comes out from the same place of the rotating axis. I tried playing around with the code but no possible solutions.

EDIT: Also, if I put
b.x=platform.x+Math.cos(gun.rotation*Math.PI/180)*gun.length; // where platform is the parent of the gun (assuming your gun is attached to a platform like a tank).
b.y=platform.y+Math.sin(gun.rotation*Math.PI/180)*gun.length;
The bullet comes out from the platform's registration point. If I remove the platform part, it comes out from the gun's reg point.
Another thing, if I modify it like "length - 100", it will change it's position but won't follow the rotation of the gun like I stated above. If it shoots from a certain location., and then I rotate the gun a certain amount of degrees the bullet will shoot from that side instead of following the gun's barrel.
So I'm wasn't completely sure on how to fix this. Thanks again. -
Is there a way to order multiple different prints in any quantity from Iphoto? it appears currently like I would have to ship each separately, even if only one print... is there a way around this so I can can get several DIFFERENT prints of any quantity and ship all at the same time?
Sure - easiest way is to make an album for photos you want to order and drag photos to it - when it is complete open the album, select all and order

My friends and i ALL HAVE THE SAME EXACT MAC and they can ichat but i cant!
Ok, here's the deal. So, my two best friends and i all bought the same macbook for college and we're all in separate states and they both use ichat to talk to eachother but everytime i try to connect with one of them it says that there has been an error. i cant use the phone capability either...alli can do is type. and when i ask for a summary...this is what it says below... The Quicktime Streaming settings run from Automatic at the physical Top of the list to Intranet/LAN and the physical bottom.
Both these extremes are read by iChat are incompatible numbers for use.
Each setting in the Quicktime streaming is given a number.
Automatic returns a 0 to iChat. The Intranet/LAN does a similar thing.
If your internet Download speeds exceeds 1.5Mbps you should use the 1.5Mbps T1/Intranet/LAN setting that is the one from bottom.
Skype uses completely different ports and if it finds those blocked it will drop to using port 80 like web browsing does.
It is not a comparison as to whether iChat will work.

My ipod touch 4 gen is in recovery mode and i dont know how to get out of it,i tried everything like hold the home and top button at the same time. All it did what g to the apple logo and went back to recovery mode any help?
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

Thats not possible I'm afraid, only the Apple TV can receive an AirPlay stream, and even then only one at a time, unless you stream from a computer. -
my ipad will not let me slide to log in, or power off. I have tried to hold down the sleep and home button at the same time, but that did not work. D o you have any tips for me? Thanks.

I'm trying to log into two facebook accounts at the same time in differant windows. When ever I log into the second account in the second window it changes the login in the first window. When I hit home or any other link the first window account has been logged out and logged into the second window account. I tried installing a second copy of firefox in a differant folder that the first but it seems to use all the files of the first installation. If I can get 2 toatally seperated instalations that don't rely on the same history, cookies, cache, etc I belive that will solve my problem. Please help.

I wrote a script to rotate my fluxbox background and SLiM theme at the same time, so I could have a contiuously changing background and still have a smooth transition from SLiM to fluxbox. (It just looks so much cooler when both have matching backgrounds). By the time you finish reading it, and configuring your box so it will work, you will probably have decided you could have writtin your own, better script to do the same thing. But, on the off chance anybody finds use for it, here it is:

Problem connecting Firewire device and external HD at the same time
Hi. I'm attempting to record digital audio through a Presonus Firepod A/D interface via a Firewire 400 to 800 cable connected to one of the Firewire 800 ports on a mid-2010 Mac Pro running Snow Leopard.
The problem is that if I have an external HD connected to one of the other Firewire 800 ports on the computer and powered on at the same time, the connection to the Presonus Firewire device is not recognized by the Mac Pro. Not only that, performance of the Mac Pro is affected adversely and System Profiler is unable to list any Firewire devices. If I turn the external HD off, the Presonus device is recognized and listed in System Profiler and the machine runs fine. I'm able to connect two external hard drives via separate Firewire 800 ports on the Mac Pro and both drives mount w/ no problem. It's only when I try to connect one of the external HDs and the Presonus audio device at the same time that the problem occurs.
I used this same arrangement on a PowerMac G5 running Tiger w/ no problems whatsoever. If the 400 to 800 cable is bad, I would think it wouldn't work at all, but it does when only the Presonus Firepod is connected and powered on. Any ideas?Have done more research and apparently this is not an uncommon problem: overloading the Firewire bus when connecting an audio device along with an additional device like an external hard drive. As I understand it now, audio signal is a bandwidth hog and the solution is to get a Firewire PCIe card which will have its own independent Firewire bus and which I'll use exclusively for my audio device.

Can I use a usb and wireless keyboard at the same time on a mac pro
I wish to use the Mac Pro USB keyboard for Logic shortcuts and the Mac Pro wireless keyboard for normal typing etc. Is this possible?
Just as Matt has said, the Mac uses "all devices active" philosophy with keyboards and pointing devices. It does not automatically Switch to a later-installed device, it uses them ALL at the same time by default.

One day I was going to download music from my laptop to my ipod, I was able to download all the songs I wanted but later when I try to charger my ipod it wouldn't let me. The next day I bought a new charger but it still didn't charger. I try pressing the power And home button at the same time but it still wouldn't turn on or charger.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

changed the point base ports in 8.1

any ideas on what else I should do?

Did you change this 8453 to someother value for one of the domains. This looks like a Pointbase DB Debug Port. First change main pointbase db port and then change this debug port value also in setDomainEnv.cmd file.

I have been trying to find a way to connect to Oracle Database through the developer 2000 and SQL server at the same time. I need to return some data from Oracle Database and some from the Sql Server Database. And update both through SQL. I find there is such a thing as the Oracle Transparent Gateway for SQL server. I can't find it on any of my CD's or through OTN downloadable files. If anyone can point me where to get this. Or tell of another way this can be accomplished I would appreciate it. TIA.

As far as I know you have 3 options depending on your specifications. I don't think option #3 will work if you need to actually join a
SQL Server table to an Oracle table.
1. Oracle Transparent Gateway. I haven't used the Oracle Transparent Gateway but my understanding is that Oracle gateways are
separate purchased products from Oracle. I've never seen any free/development versions of it anywhere. You'll need to contact
your Oracle sales rep about it.
2. Heterogeneous Connectivity. There's something called Heterogeneous Connectivity that could work for you - depends on what
version of Oracle you're on and what OS. You basically set up an ODBC data source on the Oracle server and modify the listener.ora
and tnsnames.ora files. You can then create a database link to SQL Server just like you would to any other Oracle database. You can
check your Oracle documentation for how this works. There's also some very good documents on Metalink that tell you how to do this
as well as a Heterogeneous Connectivity forum on this site.
3. Use the exec_sql package available in Developer 2000. This allows you to open and execute cursors to remote databases within
Developer. We have an account validation process that uses this - when a person enters an account number in a form while logged
into Oracle it validates the account is valid in our main accounting DB2 database. We also pull HR information from DB2 into Oracle
this way. If you're using Forms 6i exec_sql is a built-in command, in Forms 5.0 and 5.5 you have to add it as an attached library to
the form. I think you also need the OCA options installed from the Developer software to have access to the library in Forms 5.0 and
5.5. The library will be in the $ORACLE_HOME\oca20\plsqllib directory for these versions. The Developer documentation should have
additional information.

We have Configured EBS R12 in DMZ setup as described in Figure F-9 of metalink note 380490.1 ,Option 2.4: Using Reverse Proxy with no External Web Tier.
refering to 726953.1 Case History: Implementing a Reverse Proxy Alone in the DMZ Configuration - R12.
but Not able to activate internal and external urls at the same time in this configuration. Only the node where last autoconfig was run getting activated as web node.
When trying to accees the url of the other node it gets redirected to the url (where autoconfig is last run).and for this error observed is Error Code:502 Proxy Error.The specified Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port is not allowed.(12204).
For both external and internal services are UP.opmn status is live no error.
Using Apache as reverse proxy.

Finally it's resolved...Following is the solution thought to share in the forum:
The configuration of the E-Business Suite environment for DMZ requires profile options hierarchy type to be set
to SERVRESP.
To change the profile options hierarchy type values to SERVRESP, execute the following SQL script as
shown below:
sqlplus / @/patch/115/sql/txkChangeProfH.sql SERVRESP
After successfully completing the above sql script, run Autoconfig in all nodes to complete the profile options configuration.
