Logging in to WiFi

Just fired up my iPhone today, and as I will every night, I'll be completely shutting it off till morning. Will I have to re log-in to my own home wireless network every time I turn on the phone? Or will it seek it out and connect automatically?

it will seek out and boldly go where your WiFi was before, your current WiFi addresses always first and automatically

I can not get my Ipod 4 Gen to log into free WIFI hot spots. It shows that I am connected but I have no internet activity. I was in several hot spots last night and could not log in, other people were, but I could not. HELP!

    - Did the other users who successfully connected have iDevices?
    - Frequently you have to open Safari/a browser and agree to the terms and conditions of the wifi spot before yo can get to the internet.  Some wifi spots use Flash or Java to log on which the iPod (and other iDevices) do not support)
    - Have you tried resetting network settings: Settings:General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - Does you Ipod successfully connect at home?.

I have clicked that I have the same problem. I am guessing that the question I have posted goes along the same route, except I use tabs within the Messenger part rather than the window.

  • How Exactly Are You 'Meant' To Log Onto BT Wifi?

Can someone tell me what exactly are you meant to use to log in to a hotspot ?  Is it the BT ID/Password you access your online customer account with?  Is it the @btinternet.com with the same or different password?  Is it something else?
We got BT Infinity this past Monday (that bit works fine).
We can see/access the local hotspots (BT Wifi/FON), but they fail to recognise our logins details as valid.
When I use our valid BT ID/Password on the "Check the status of your BT Wi-fi account" page, it reports "Enter valid Username". If I switch it for the @btinternet.com address we were given, it says "Authentication failed. Invalid username or password" .
The "Register for BT Wi-fi", section says "Enter valid Username" or "Resubmission Error!" respectively.
To make matters even more confusing, when our broadband was originally switched over to BT from Plusnet (but the engineer had not arrived yet) I phoned up to ask how to access a hotspot, and a lady in one of the Indian call centres gave me a string of numbers to use as a username/password (eg 10563482 cgnywtbe).  Suffice it to say this made no sense, nor did it work.
So exactly what is the correct process?

  • Logging in to WiFi server

For some reason our iPod (4th G) will only let us use capital letters on the first letter of the WiFi passcode. Since the whole thing is case sensitive, we cannot log into our own wifi server. Any suggestions?

Same problem for me, with a capital letter in the middle of the password that the ipod would not let me enter. According to the user guide, if the caps lock option is enabled (under setting -> general -> keyboard) then you can re-enter caps mode by double-tapping the up arrow. This didn't work for me, but what did work was to press and hold the up arrow, then drag over to the letter that I want to capitalize. Not very intuitive, but it worked for me. This seems to put the unit back in caps-lock, so if you then want a lower-case letter you need to simply press the up arrow once.

  • Logging onto a WiFi hotspot

I'm trying to log onto WiFi at Starbucks.  My Pre sees the network (AT&T WiFi) with a strong signal.  But usually this network requires me to give a username and password when opening a web page.  When I open my browser it does not take me to a log in page.  This makes me think that I am being connected through the phone/3G browser and not through the WiFi.  Any suggestions on how to bypass the phone browser in order to use the WiFi?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Try connecting to a network with an ethernet cable and see how it performs. If that is also not responding this would indicate a possible software error.
problem with my battery and all the owner's said that you just have to take it to the Apple store and get a new batter)? If I can't take care of the the defect(s) here is there any way to extend my warrenty for a month
Apple does not cover batteries under warranty as batteries do loose their capacity over time. If a battery suddenly stops working then apple may look into that. You would have to speak to apple care about that.
You cannot extend a warranty for 1 month you could purchase apple care and get 2 years of extended warranty. Although if the problem is reported to apple care prior to your warranty expiring then you may be ok, but I stress you would have to talk to apple care directly about this.
Why not take the mac into the apple store I am sure you can make an appointment to see an apple genius anywhere in the world.

  • Web browser log in for wifi? how to

I am required to log in through a web browser to use internet in my apt. How do I do this on my ATV after connecting to the network?
Found the network and connected fine, now it needs to log in, but I am not sure how.

the appletv does not support this, so you will not be able to connect the appletv directly to that wifi network.
your only solution is to log on to the wifi on your pc/laptop and then share it back out so that the appletv can connect to that.

  • I can't log onto my WiFi with my Touch

I'm using my Touch, AirPort Express and the remote app to control iTunes and play music through my stereo.
I like it but I'm having some problems. For some reason I can't log onto my own wifi with the touch when I have the wireless network secured, even when I type in the networks password. When I have the wireless security disabled it works fine but when I make the wireless connection secure I can't log on.
Does anybody know how I can solve this problem? I love the set up but it does me no good if I'm vulnerable to hackers. What am I doing wrong?
I don't know if it matters but I have a Linksys router.

I have a PC if this helps.

  • Cannot log into BT WiFi Account

    Hi,
When i go to log into my account or load up the BT Opene zone page to add the details I keep coming up against log in details.
    https://www.btopenzone.com:8443/selfcare/index.htm
I type in my username and password and it just says that it is incorrect? And yet I can log into my BT account, log into here, and everywhere... but I CANNOT log into the bt openzone.
very frustrating to say the least.
    Help meeeeee

The log-in details for MyBT and BT WiFi are not necessarily the same. To log in to a BT WiFi hotspot you need your primary email address and password; it's the one you need to access BT Yahoo! Mail. Only a btinternet.com address will do, others such as btopenworld.com will not work. Neither are appropriate for the link you posted as that's for non-BT Broadband customers.
To get to the internet via BT WiFi as a BT BB customer, you need to connect to a hotspot. When you then try to connect to the internet you will be presented with a landing page where you have to confirm that you're a BB customer (the default) and enter your log-in details as above.

  • Problems logging in to wifi/Fon hotspots

    Hi guys,
Seen a few people who have this problem but none of the posts state the solution.
The problem I'm having is that I cannot log into any BT Fon/wifi hotspots when I'm out and about. I keep getting a message that my username/password is incorrect.
I've checked that I'm opted in
The email is my primary one
The email address/password is correct as I can log in and check my emails just fine.
    Any help would be brilliant.
    Regards

DD is right, but you also need to make sure that you're using a btinternet.com email address; although BT Yahoo! will accept other domains (eg btopenworld.com), BT WiFi won't. Actually, you can just use the user name (the bit before the @) for BT WiFi.

  • Mobile Account users can't log in with Wifi on

All of my mobile account users do not seem to be able to login to their machines unless the wifi is turned off. This has only occured since Monday, which is strange. I seem to have the following entries in the LDAP log:
    Sep 19 09:22:22 xserve slapd[58]: <= bdbsubstringcandidates: (mail) index_param failed (18)\n

    Sep 19 09:39:46 xserve slapd[58]: <= bdbsubstringcandidates: (mail) index_param failed (18)\n
    Help!

If they are still plugged into ethernet, the network settings may have Airport set as the primary network connection. If so, then Wifi will handle the LAN connection and its settings may be different that the wired one. Turning off wifi automatically would make the ethernet the primary connection.
If that's the case, Configure the wifi network (and perhaps the wifi router) or change the network port order. Go to system preferences: network and see if Airport is on top. Just click on the little settings wheel below and select "Set Service Order". Under Tiger, just go to Show: Net Port Configurations and drag the port up/down to change the order.
    Hope that helps...
