Logging in Weblogic server 5.1
Hi
I am wondering if there is any BEA tools or other tools that can parse the access.log file and make
som sort of reports out of it ?
Either on web or some sort of programs - excel sheets, all answers are appreciated.
Or if there is an add-on to weblogic to make the logging better ? (That also makes reports)
An answer to either of these questions would be deeply appreciated!

Hi,
I wanted to know whether application logging is possible or not. i.e. customer deploys an application, a log should be created that would contain the name of the application, size of it, timestamp etc.

Yes, you can do application level logging in weblogic server 10.3.3 using log4j . To get the steps how to do it do have a look at the below link.

WebLogic Server 10.0 Logging Configuration
Does anyone know if there is a way to update / modify / configure the logging for WebLogic Server logs to make the time stamp on log entries go out to milliseconds? Right now log entries only have precision to seconds, but we want and need to see them out to the millisecond.
We are well aware that log4j is an option, but that seems to require coding and we were hoping to avoid that given our only additional need was precision out to milliseconds.

Deployment Application To Weblogic Server Failed
Hello every body
I need your help in this problem please :
I'm using Oracle JDeveloper 11.1 in my local machine, I Installed Weblogic Server 10.3 on the server and it's works well, I made new JDBC connection in Weblogic Server and it's works well too.
I made new ADF Fusion web Application and I used the same connection that I used in Weblogic server and it's works well.
I made new Application Server Connection from my local machine and It's works well with my user account.
In my project I made new WAR deployment, Also I configured my Application properties to Bind Application to the Weblogic server Instance.
1-when I try to deploy my project to Weblogic server I get this error message :

Deployment Failed
2-Another application was deployed before to Weblogic server, it seems running well, whereas Weblogic Server marks my deployment health as OK, but when I try to run it for test using this URL : http://serverIP:Port/Deployment Name, I get this Error : Error 403--Forbidden
What Should I do for both cases ?

How to manage logging in weblogic through Java Programme.
Hi Experts,
I want to added logging to weblogic server(Admin Server and 3 Managered Servers) using java code.Is it possible?
I have an admin server and some 3 managed servers.I want to added a logging suppose for org.springframework package to see debug message .So I want to do that,through java code(out side weblogic with a main method) for my admin server and managed servers.
Please guide me through some example.

I did find my own way to "calibrating the colour", and succeeded by watching the adjustments to the image on the projection screen to match my desktop, rather than by following exactly the steps described in the instructions.

Error in Logging using log4j When deployed in weblogic server
I have deployed an SOAP based web service application as an war file and used log4j propertiers to do application logging .When i tested the application through a JAVA client the log4j log file has all the application log information but when i deployed it in the weblogic server 10.3.3 and tested it through SOAP UI it gives me just "Run time error exception" in the log4j log file(which is returned in the SOAP response) as against the application logs which i need. I have also added <wls:package-name>org.apache.log4j.*</wls:package-name> in the weblogic.xml and also changwed the logging to the log4j logging in the server ( which was perviously JDK logging) .But still it is not returning the complete application error stack trace in the log4j log file(and also in the weblogic command console) I need to get the application error stack trace in the log4j log file ( and also in the console) so it would be easy to debug the code.
Please help me out in doing the same.

Hi,
We have an ADF application being served by weblogic 10.3.5. During the operation of application, sometimes we are getting "Internal Server Error" .
Weblogic command window is not showing complete log of application process.
So, how can we get the complete log of weblogic, since the time we started server & application. We want to diagnosis the cause of Error.
Also, what may be the cause of "Internal Server Error" ?

You can check the server diagnostic logs. There can be multiple reasons for this to occur.
As you said, 'during the operation of application', does the call to go to some other server? -
How has access.log file configured in WebLogic server 10.0?
1.) I am using BEA Weblogic 10.0 and my access.log is not getting updated.
2.) I also need any information as to how this Webblogic server forms chunks (ex....access00011.log,access00012.log) because i have a software called AWStats which merges all these chunks into 1 single access.log file under its subdirectory.
3.) I also need information as to how and where the user can specify/ form his own fields which gets displayed in the access.log
FYI i have 2 servers and i checked under Logging->HTTP->advanced, in both the servers options and configurations are same but in 1 it works fine and access.log is updating but not in the other one.
Kindly let me know i you have any leads into this issue!

Firstly thanks for the reply.

What you can do is to set the buffer-size-kb parameter value to "0" in config.xml so that it can start logging once the server starts coming up rather then waiting for the default size which is 8kb to pass.
Something like below:

If you do not want rotation of access.log then you can just disable it from the below console path just by putting Rotation type as None
Server -> <YOUR_SERVER_NAME> -> Logging (tab) -> HTTP (sub-tab) -> Rotation type: None
---- for this in both my servers i have the settings like this,
Rotation type--> By Size
Rotation File size 5000
Begin rotation time 00:00
rotation interval 24
files to retain 7
and Log file rotation directory is left blank (to get created in same directory)
and also Rotate log file on startup is unchecked.

---- regarding this, in my main server the access.log is getting updated and after 4.8Mb its creating 5Mb chunks. So, for example if the entire log is of 15 Mb then access.log stops updating at 4.98Mb and accesslog.out0001 and accesslog.out0002 is created with 5Mb each but the latest entry will be stored in accesslog.out0002 file. I hope i didn't complicate this :)

We can't read access log file in real-time. If access log is rotation to new file so can read access log file but can't read real-time.
*** Oracle Weblogic Server versions 10 R3what's your meaning? try this command "tail -f access.log".
Threre is a buffer about 8K for WebLogic to write the access info into the log files, so you can't see the access info untill the buffer is full. -
Logs in weblogic while starting a server
I have added adf and jsf jar files (afc.jar,jsf-impl.jar,jstl.jar,adf-faces-api.jar,adf-faces-impl.jar,adfshare.jar,commons-beanutils.jsr,commons-collections.jar,commons-digester.jar,,jsf-api.jar,standard.jar)
under web-inf /lib folder in my project . while starting the weblogic server it is taking 10 minutes to start the server. so many logs are printed .i have placed the sample logs below please give the solution to resolve it.

Weblogic Server not starting and not logging to logfile?
Hi all,
We had a problem on our production systems a few weeks ago whereby weblogic shut itself down overnight (normal operation) but then did not start up again in the early hours as it should.
Basically as the Weblogic was started we found that the weblogic log gave us the following output.

Debug is not enabled for this domain. This can be enabled by setting the DEBUG_PORT variable in startWebLogic.sh
Logging is enabled for this domain. This can be disabled by un-setting the LOGGING variable in startWebLogic.sh
Logging all system output to /apps/bea81/weblogic81/../user_projects/hdw_live/logs/all.log

And the file /apps/bea81/weblogic81/../user_projects/hdw_live/logs/all.log was created but was in fact 0 bytes long.
Looking at another system where weblogic had come up correctly we noted that the next line in the weblogic log should have been :-

In the end we had to restart the server and then it came up allright. This shounds like some kind of environmental resource issue but we don't know? Has anyone seen this kind of behaviour before? Can you suggest a way we can check if their is sufficient resources available if we end up in this situation again?
