Logging into Mac mini from Asus Router

Hi guys,
I am absolutely stumped on this and really need some help. I brought an asus router, which includes a feature called AIcloud. Now, this feature allows you to access shared folders on the mac through the router itself.
Now I have a sinology disk station and i can login into this, no problem.
However, for the life of me, I cannot login to my Mac Mini.
This is the login screen.

Under my computer name in system preferences, it is set to "PaulMac"
What format should i enter the username?
As an example, my short username is paulsmith

Awesome thank you so much for the quick reply! It is very much appreciated

As I said you need to:
You need to wipe the hard disk and reinstall the OS by booting into the recovery partition and reinstall the original OS via the internet. It will ask you to enter your ID

  • How to set mac mini to virtual router

how to set mac mini to virtual router.

    Hi James,
It's Internet Sharing you're looking for in System Preferences>Sharing, which can share your connection, say from Ethernet to other computers/devices using Airport/Wifi.

  • Mac Mini w/ASUS 21" widescreen monitor

Screen flashes intermittently, then scrambles like an old TV. I can reboot monitor to reset. Seems like monitor issue, though its less than a year old.... any ideas anyone?

You can Screen Share into your Mac mini from your MacBook Air. It's not the same as it would be with an actual keyboard, mouse and monitor, but it will allow you do still control the system. You will also need a keyboard, mouse and monitor to initially go into your Mac mini and enable Screen Sharing.
If you have a Mac mini Server, there is another way to accomplish this as well, just let me know.

  • Will hardwiring my mac mini to my router improve airplay mirroring performance?

I am currently running ATV 2 and a 2012 Mac Mini with Mountain Lion. The AirPlay Mirroring is working well but some videos are lagging and skipping.
If I hardwire my mac mini to the router will that improve performance?
Please advise and thank you for your help.

We've always been able to 'Airplay' from iTunes using wired or wifi (same for the older Airtunes I guess) - I think maybe the name is just a little confusing in that it implies wifi but that shouldn't be the only way of doing so.
There will be instances when you might want to mirror a wired Mac's display to AppleTV without physically connecting to the TV too.
As I say I just don't know if it's limited to wifi only for source mirroring devices as I don't have one capable of doing it.

  • HT1338 cannot insert the disc into mac mini.It seems something obstructed.

cannot insert the disc into mac mini.it seemssomething obstrucetd inside.

    1. Go into Spotlight from the top of your Mac Mini on the menu bar.
    2. And search for "CDs & DVDs" (It's also in the System Preferences)
Click on it and a small CDs & DVDs window will pop up with options of what happens when you insert a disk into the drive
    3. By then, try inserting a disk in (while that window is open. This kinda wakes up your drive to accept the disk). It should accept it.
    4. If nothing happens, then manually open the program that should be opening when you insert the disk or go to Finder (Eg. if it's an audio disk, then open iTunes)
    5. If opening the program still does not activate the drive to start spinning the disk, then close the programs and windows you opened, and repeat step 1-4 and the disk should be spinning and automatically opening the proper program.
Or go into Terminal app and type in: drutil ejec
The drutil ejec tip is credited to Dan8954
    Hope that helps!

  • I bought this Mac mini from my company, and cannot set up my admin account. What can I do?

I bought a Mac mini from my company as they were closing our office and leaving all of us in a state of unemployment. Now I'm trying to setup the admin user account for my Girlfriend's son, for whom I purchased the unit. As he is new to mac, I'm trying to set it up for him. However when I go to the account panel in system preferences, I am unable to change anything without entering an admin password. Nor can I find a setup assistant to treat it as a new mac. What are my options from here? The Mac mini 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running OS X Version 10.6.8

If the company did not supply you with that Mac's original System Install DVD, you really ought to purchase a Snow Leopard DVD from Apple since you are likely to need it in the future.
Please read everything that follows before continuing. If you have only the one computer you should print this for reference.
Power on or restart your Mac.
At the chime or grey screen, hold ⌘ and S on your keyboard to enter single-user mode.
At the localhost:/ root# prompt, type
    fsck -fy
    and press Return.
This is a simple check for file system integrity and is optional. It may take a few minutes to complete. Be patient. If you get concerned that it has stalled press the Return key. When the integrity check completes pressing the Return key will result in the localhost prompt again.
At the localhost:/ root# prompt, type each of the following lines, exactly as written, one line at a time, each line followed by the Return key. There is a single space preceding the first "slash" ( / ) character in each line:
    mount -uw /
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    reboot
The Mac will restart, and then take you through the entire setup and registration process that a new Mac presents to a new user. Any pre-existing user accounts are still available, but without their passwords they will not be useful to you.
Do not elect to transfer your information from another Mac. When you get to the "Do You Already Own a Mac" screen, select "Do not transfer my information" and press Continue. Have your existing Apple ID and password ready - do not create a new one unless that's what you really want to do.
When it completes, log in under that new account. Use System Preferences > Accounts (or Users & Groups) to delete the User accounts that you no longer need.

  • IWeb cannot log into .Mac

iWeb suddenly cannot log into my .Mac account. When I select "publish", I get a brief "logging into .Mac" dialog box and immediately get a popup to sign in or become a member.
When I select "Sign in" I am brought to the .Mac dialog box from System Preferences. There's nothing to do, I reenter my password and nothing happens.
I can access my .mac account from other applications, so what gives? Any ideas? I can not longer publish...
    iMac G5 (PowerPC)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I had in mind the .mac keychain entry. I've you have deleted and recreated that, then you are probably right. Unfortunately, publishing errors can be very difficult to track down.
If you haven't done so already, I'd try deleting the iWeb plist. (com.apple.iweb.plist in the username/Library/Preferences folder).
Beyond that, I'd suggest working through Apnewbie's suggestions. You might also try searching the forums. I've seen the particular issue with .mac login before, but I don't remember what the resolution was.
I have been fortunate to have few problems with iWeb, but I do wish it proved more stable for more people.

  • Having Trouble Logging into My Account from platform

I am able to log into my account from the web (so I could get to forums). However, when I try to log in from the Elements 10 application, I enter the same login information and a dialog box says "signing in" with a "barber-pole" type action bar running. It stays like this forever. I cannot close out of the application. The only resolve I have found is to close down my computer and "force stop" Adobe, so I can reboot. Am I doing something wrong?

When you log in from the web you are logging into Adobe Revel these days. PSE 10 understands nothing about Revel, which didn't exist when it was created. If you want to use Revel now that photoshop.com is gone, you must use a web browser, or, if you have a Mac, the free app from the App Store, not PSE 10 itself.

  • HELP! Troubles logging into .Mac in iChat

Okay, weird stuff is happening and I don't know why... I'm trying to log into .Mac in iChat and It says that I'm online on my end, but to other people (when I call'em) in my list, i'm Offline.. so I check the account prefs. and found that the "Encryption being activated" functionality is sitting there with the grey spinning wheel....
Where can I start to look to see what may cause this issue? Or is anyone else having a similar issue at the moment? would love some advice/help on this please.

Thanks for all the help everyone, and yes, that is an awesome FAQ, however the problem wasn't solved from any of those solutions, I didn't get to try them out unfortunately.. but will when the problem comes back again..
Because what happened, was that I left it off overnight, and came back to it, now it's back to the original problem with logging in and nobody else is online (even the appleu3test01 decided to stay offline).. the fix I found was not changing the ports or any of that jazz, but to block everyone in the list (under the preferences for the .Mac account in iChat) and then unblock everyone. HUZZAAAAH!!!!!
Feel free to add that (in your own words of course) as an option in that FAQ ..

  • Logging into .mac

For the last 2 days everytime I try to publish to .mac, I get the message
" iWeb couldn’t connect to .Mac. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again."
The problem is that my internet connection is working just fine. I can publish to a folder, have tried publishing "ALL to .mac" and every time I get the same message. All other internet connections are working and I can log into .mac from Safari
I know others have had problems with publishing but they don't seem to be getting this message.
    Can anyone help!

    Open Keychain Access - Finder/Go/Utilities.
    Select Keychains/login and Category/Passwords
    Internet.
Double click "idisk.mac.com" to update the information if necessary.
You can also go to Keychain Access/Keychain First Aid if needed.
Also try quitting iWeb, deleting the file Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist and relaunching.
If that doesn't work, do it again and the restart your Mac and run Disk Utility to repair permissions.
Also go to Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb, make a backup of your domain file and up date this every time you successfully publish changes.
The Go menu is in the Finder Toolbar.

  • 10.6.7 - High wifi latency on Mac Mini (from mid 2007)

    Hi!
I have a MacBook Pro from mid 2009. It is upgraded to 10.6.7 and works with absolutely no problems. However I also have a Mac Mini from mid 2007 and since upgrading to 10.6.7 the wifi latency has been extremely high--averaging 5 seconds or more if I run a ping command on the IP address of my network gateway.
Last night I restored the system to its original OS X version (10.5) and the wifi worked great. Then I upgraded with my original Snow Leopard disc (10.6) and the wifi still worked great. Finally, I updated via the Software Updater to 10.6.7. The wifi instantly took on the high latency again. If I switch to my Windows installation via Bootcamp, the wifi works splendidly. The problem is definitely with 10.6.7. It is not with my Mac Mini hardware or with my router.
Some things I tried to resolve the problem (none of them worked):
I tried creating a new "Location" and reconnecting with that.
    I tried zapping my PRAM
No need to delete my preferences files because I just did a complete OS restore
I have not changed my routers security settings because that is not an acceptable solution (some people suggest disabled WEP or WPA--I'm running WPA2).
Any help that you could provide would be great. I've never had a problem with Apple hardware or software before this, so this experience is disappointing.

    Thanks for your response.
My router is a Linksys WRT160N.
I'm a little doubtful that it's just a matter of 10.6.7 and my router, since my MBP is currently running 10.6.7 and doing just fine. I'm fairly certain that the fault is primarily with 10.6.7 itself.

  • Bought you Mac Mini from Amazon? Did it come with Snow Leopard installed?

I want to buy a Mac Mini from Amazon simply because it's cheaper and there's no tax, the question is, does it come with Snow Leopard like the one from Apple does?
I am not being a cheap @ss here, i lost my job and trying to save every penny i can.
    Totals:
    Amazon: $577.95
    Apple w/student discount: $599.78
The 9.75% tax is killing us here in CA

Even if it does not come with Snow Leopard installed, or the upgrade drop in disk, you should still be able to get it for S&H from Apple thru the Up-to-Date program.
... If you’ve purchased a qualifying computer or Xserve on or after June 8, 2009 that does not include Mac OS X Snow Leopard, you can upgrade to Mac OS X Snow Leopard for $9.95.*
This program ends December 26, 2009. Your completed order form must be postmarked or faxed within 90 days of the date of your purchase of a qualifying computer or Xserve (described in this offer) or by December 26, 2009, whichever is earlier.
Also, you may want to look into Apple's refurbished Mac minis. They are usually a Mac that was DOA when shipped to a customer new and has been repaired by Apple. They are technically brand new and carry the same warranty. Occasionally they have surprises, like upgraded RAM.

You really need a newer Mac Mini with a true HDMI output, because that Mac Mini's DVI output does not support Audio.
You might try a 3.5mm to RCA adapter
from the Mac Mini's headphone jack to the TV's audio input,
but that would require being able to select the Audio input in the TVs menu while using it's HDMI input.
Optionally you could also use an external 2.1 Speaker System or patch the audio from the Mac Mini to your home stereo system to enhance that older Mac Mini's audio.
