Logging into Mac OS X Wiki

Hi all,
Problem description:
We currently have a Mac Mini with Mac OS X 10.6 server
Users log into the realm - One username and password for all users
Users then log into the home page, the credentials for these are located on a MySQL server. - Each user has their own user name and password
Users can click on a link which takes them to the wiki, currently users have to login again.
Question:
Is it possible to have the user automatically logged into the wiki when they click on the link or even when they log into the home page?
Regards
J.C

You should have inserted your OEM DVD for Leopard while running Vista to install Apple BootCamp. That will add BootCamp to your taskbar, and BootCamp in Vista control panels. You can change the default there.
When in OS X, under the Apple menu (top left) => System Preferences (OS X control panels) to get to Startup Disk also.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're users here and don't speak for "Apple Inc."
If you enter your question into a popular search engine, you can find several destinations with suggested solutions. Or you can take it to the nearest Apple Store or authorized Apple dealer nearby for personal assistance.
Here are similar topics in Apple Support Communities that might be of assistance:
    https://discussions.apple.com/article/HT1274
If none of these help, then you need to provide more information so we can attempt to help:
Which model of MacBook Pro is it? (Approximate year of purchase is close enough)
Which version of OS X operating system is installed?
What happens when you power-on the MacBook Pro?
Do you hear the 'chime' at start up?
    Is the battery charged?
Is the power indicator on the battery charger illuminated? If yes, what color?
Do you see anything on the screen or does it remain dark?
If it remains dark, when you take the computer to a brightly-lit room, can you see faint images on the screen?
Does the computer ever get to the gray 'Apple' screen with the spinning indicator?
Do you ever get to screen asking for your login name and password?
    Do your know the username?
    Have you forgotten the password?
Does the password fail to be accepted with a 'shaking' motion?
    Are the password hints enabled?
Are there any other users who share your computer?
Can any of them login successfully?

  • IWeb cannot log into .Mac

iWeb suddenly cannot log into my .Mac account. When I select "publish", I get a brief "logging into .Mac" dialog box and immediately get a popup to sign in or become a member.
When I select "Sign in" I am brought to the .Mac dialog box from System Preferences. There's nothing to do, I reenter my password and nothing happens.
I can access my .mac account from other applications, so what gives? Any ideas? I can not longer publish...
    iMac G5 (PowerPC)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I had in mind the .mac keychain entry. I've you have deleted and recreated that, then you are probably right. Unfortunately, publishing errors can be very difficult to track down.
If you haven't done so already, I'd try deleting the iWeb plist. (com.apple.iweb.plist in the username/Library/Preferences folder).
Beyond that, I'd suggest working through Apnewbie's suggestions. You might also try searching the forums. I've seen the particular issue with .mac login before, but I don't remember what the resolution was.
I have been fortunate to have few problems with iWeb, but I do wish it proved more stable for more people.

  • HELP! Troubles logging into .Mac in iChat

Okay, weird stuff is happening and I don't know why... I'm trying to log into .Mac in iChat and It says that I'm online on my end, but to other people (when I call'em) in my list, i'm Offline.. so I check the account prefs. and found that the "Encryption being activated" functionality is sitting there with the grey spinning wheel....
Where can I start to look to see what may cause this issue? Or is anyone else having a similar issue at the moment? would love some advice/help on this please.

Thanks for all the help everyone, and yes, that is an awesome FAQ, however the problem wasn't solved from any of those solutions, I didn't get to try them out unfortunately.. but will when the problem comes back again..
Because what happened, was that I left it off overnight, and came back to it, now it's back to the original problem with logging in and nobody else is online (even the appleu3test01 decided to stay offline).. the fix I found was not changing the ports or any of that jazz, but to block everyone in the list (under the preferences for the .Mac account in iChat) and then unblock everyone. HUZZAAAAH!!!!!
Feel free to add that (in your own words of course) as an option in that FAQ ..

  • Logging into .mac

For the last 2 days everytime I try to publish to .mac, I get the message
" iWeb couldn’t connect to .Mac. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again."
The problem is that my internet connection is working just fine. I can publish to a folder, have tried publishing "ALL to .mac" and every time I get the same message. All other internet connections are working and I can log into .mac from Safari
I know others have had problems with publishing but they don't seem to be getting this message.
    Can anyone help!

    Open Keychain Access - Finder/Go/Utilities.
    Select Keychains/login and Category/Passwords
    Internet.
Double click "idisk.mac.com" to update the information if necessary.
You can also go to Keychain Access/Keychain First Aid if needed.
Also try quitting iWeb, deleting the file Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist and relaunching.
If that doesn't work, do it again and the restart your Mac and run Disk Utility to repair permissions.
Also go to Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb, make a backup of your domain file and up date this every time you successfully publish changes.
The Go menu is in the Finder Toolbar.

  • Can't log into Mac App Store from Mac Pro Desktop.

Earlier this evening I logged into the Mac App Store fine from my MacBook Pro and downloaded an app. Now I want to do same from mt Mac Pro desktop. Despite repeated attempts I can't log in. It just sits and cranks.
    Any recommendations appreciated.

    Hello Canyonlight,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you were not able to log in to the Mac App Store to download applications on March 11th.
The iTunes Store services were experiencing issues at that time, which may have affected your attempts. You can see the system status for Apple services at this link:
Apple - Support - System Status
Please try logging in again, if you haven't already. Feel free to reply and let us know if the issue continues.
    All the best,
    Jeremy

  • Help-unknown error has occurred when logging into mac app store

I am unable to log into the mac app store. It says "an unknown error has occurred" i can log onto itunes without any issues. ive read some discussions and tried to delete networkinterfaces.plist but it doesnt even seem to exist, ive looked in 3 different preferences files. I also tried to create a new user id from the mac store and it doesnt even recognize when i click to create user. what can i do next???  Thanks

    Sorry,
you don't need any app Store. That - sorry - bullshi. is mother of all problems.
There is the usuall Software Update process - all can find in finder menue below the apple logo. So why I have to update my iLife and iWork via App Store? Can't this be done by Software update as before? No, we need something special and we also deny any other possible way, like download from apple support page and install manually. No, everybody needs App Store - and then we get an issue after software update and don't get a fix? Sorry, that what I dislike most  - a bad customer support.
So, no one needs App Store for a Fix - all apple has to do is simply provide a simple MacUpdate via Software Update process and all is fine again.
And Software Update is just in such cases the best choice and most possible way to fix such problems - and we need also a valid and good second way - if all strings get cut...
We need ways without any strong internet - because I know places, were you cannot download a MacOS

  • IChat not logging into .Mac or AIM

    Hello:
I have been working with and using iChat with no issues forever. I upgraded to 10.5.1 on the day it was released, and had no issues.
Suddenly, yesterday, iChat won't login to my .Mac or AIM account. It logs into Jabber and Rendezvous without issue... but .Mac and AIM sits at "Connecting" in the status bar... and NEVER times out... and never fails.
The only errors I see in the system log are:
    WARNING: AIMBuddyList::GetBlockingMode failed, result=80000008
WARNING: Unable to save buddy list to server, internal error: -2147220989
    There is nothing else.
To my knowledge I haven't upgraded or changed anything. I even tried a different physical local network (brought my laptop to work this morning) and attempted to login wired and wireless.
    I'm at a loss... HEEEEEEELP!!!!
    - matthewk

    Found the answer.
PGP Desktop was blocking the connection (I imagine because it was attempting to encrypt the IM session).
What's really strange is, I haven't changed my PGP config in a few weeks... and this issue just started manifesting yesterday.
Anyhow... Hope this help the next sucker (sic.) PGP user.

  • How to sync apps to other iPhone, logged into Mac as another user, with same Apple ID for Store.

    Hi,
    I'll try to be brief.
Synced my (old) iPhone 4 to my iTunes library, as normal.
Restored contents of iTunes library to my new iPhone 5.  Everything worked fine here.
Performed full factory reset of iPhone 4 before allocating for my wife's use.
Created a new user account on my iMac for my wife (to keep things separate).
Created a new Apple ID specifically for my wife, so her iMessages, Contacts, Calendar etc. are all separate from mine.
Moved iTunes library to area that is common to both users (Can't remember exactly, it's something under /users/Shared, I think.  I followed a post in these forums.)
Pointed my iTunes library to this location (logged in as me).  My iTunes library works fine.
Pointed my wife's iTunes library to this location (logged in as my wife).
Set my wife's iTunes to use the same Apple ID as I use in the iTunes Store.  Again, I followed a forum posting.  The reason that I did this was to allow me sync purchased content to both iPhones.
Manually imported music folders from under /users/Shared into my wife's iTunes library.  (This music syncs successfully with my wife's/my old iPhone 4.)
However, the problem is that all the Apps that I 'purchased' (inc. free apps) and downloaded from the iTunes Store to my iTunes library previously do not appear in my wife's iTunes library (Apps tab) and do not sync to her iPhone 4.When I go to the iTunes Store, apps that I have previously purchased with my Apple ID appear with a 'Download' button underneath, as opposed to 'Purchase' or 'Install'—this confirms that by using my Apple ID, my wife's iTunes library knows what purchases I've made.  This is as you would expect.
Can anyone explain why the apps do not appear in my wife's iTunes' App tab?
    Anyone got a solution?
I thought I was going about things the right way by setting her up as a separate user on my iMac, creating her own Apple ID for everything except iTunes Store purchases, and using my Apple ID for connecting to the iTunes Store.
Apologies that I don't have the links to the relevant forum postings that I used as my guides.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Tx.

I have read wjosten's post on this thread but I don't think that is exactly the scenario I'm describing, nor is it what I'd like to have to do (sign my wife out, sign me in transfer/update apps, sign me out, sign me in).
That's the whole reason that I've configured her iTunes library to use my Apple ID.  It should, I would have hoped, allow the apps bought on my Apple ID (that we both use in our respective iTunes libraries) to seamlessly, automatically appear in her iTunes library, and update when appropriate, for that matter.

  • Logging into Mac mini from Asus Router

    Hi guys,
I am absolutely stumped on this and really need some help. I brought an asus router, which includes a feature called AIcloud. Now, this feature allows you to access shared folders on the mac through the router itself.
Now I have a sinology disk station and i can login into this, no problem.
However, for the life of me, I cannot login to my Mac Mini.
    This is the login screen.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/gdb6npl2wg...0copy.png?dl=0
Under my computer name in system preferences, it is set to "PaulMac"
What format should i enter the username?
As an example, my short username is paulsmith

Awesome thank you so much for the quick reply! It is very much appreciated

  • Whenever i log into Mac Mail THIS happens .

"The Yahoo! IMAP server “imap.mail.yahoo.com” rejected the password for user “[email protected]” "
Why does this happen? I enter my Yahoo password correct and i click "Remember in Keychain"
Wondering how i fix this. Thank you!

As I just said on another thread, this is a very common problem with Mail. I've had this problem in every recent OS and on three different computers, and everyone I know who has tried Mail has had this problem.
Solution: drop Mail and use a working mail server such as Thunderbird.

  • I am unable to log into the server wiki. I can get as far as the login page.

When I attempte to log into our company server wiki I can get as far as the login page.
When I type in any user/pass all I see is a spinning wheel on the login panel.
The error that is occuring in the back ground is  as follows
    ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid in LoginController#plain_login
SQLite3::SQLException: attempt to write a readonly database: INSERT INTO "users" ("uid", "created_at", "shortname", "longname", "generated_uid", "updated_at") VALUES (...)
I have confirmed that the postgres server for collab is running and I am able to connect to it through a Database Utility. I can also verify through this database utility that the Wiki is in tact. I do not know where else to go form here or if the errors I am seeing are not related to the wiki.
I am open to any possible assistance through this endeavor. I am running a Mac OS X server version 10.7.5.

Thank you so much. I deleted all of the Netflix history and the cookie. and it works fine now. Thank you again.

  • Won't publish /asks for password/ won't log in .mac

My website was working great. I changed my password through inspector. Then when I tried to publish again it put me in .mac sign in page. In the past, iweb usually would just publish without going to the sign in page. I wnt ahead and reentered password and it never logged into .mac to update the web site. It just sat there. It seems like I may have had this problem before when I saved to a folder. However, can't recall what the fix was. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

An app is locked to the the account that purchased it. You have to log into that account to update the app. If you have apps that need updating that were purchased with more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased with one account.

  • Unable to log into itunes & app store

I am unable to log into itunes & app store from my iphone5s OS 7.1.1. The apple ID works on the apple site and from my apple tv and ipad etc. I have rebooted the iphone, deleted icloud and logged back in successfully. I can use find my iphone and see my other devices. When I go to settings > iTunes & App Store > enter the apple ID and password and press sign in > it shows a activity circle at the top by the wifi indicator but then nothing else happens. Settings > iTunes & App Store still has my username and password. I can press sign in again but nothing happens.
I've tried to go into iTunes Store and look at my previous purchased movies but it keeps prompting me to sign in..  I use existing apple ID > enter ID and pass > and it just loops the same process over and over..   use existing apple ID > enter ID and pass > use existing apple ID > enter ID and pass >  etc..
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello Anand,

    1. Delete the file -  Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
    2. Restart OS X
    3. Try logging into Mac App Store again.
