Logging out of apple id w/o knowing password

I have two apple id's.  One of the id's is associated with an old, no longer active, email account.  This is the account that i am signed into on my iPhone.  However I want to use my most current apple id (i.e. one that has my current email address associated with it).  The dilemma I face is that when i try to sign out of my apple id on my phone that has the old email address; it asks for me to enter my password.  I don't recall that password and do not have it written down anywhere.  Then when I try to recall the password online, it asks for my birthday, but when i enter it i am notified what i entered is wrong (even though it is technically correct) - a myriad of issues, i know.  Furthermore, i cannot have apple send an email to reset the password to that email account because it was disabled because it was compromised.
With that said, how can log out of this id with out being able to reset, or remember the associated password?  Or is there a work around/solution I am overlooking

Good day djevisuals,
So it sounds as if your issue can be addressed by getting the password to that Apple ID reset. You will then be able to sign out of that Apple ID on the iPhone and then enter your newer Apple ID, is that correct?
Please use the steps in this article to help you reset the Apple ID password -
If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
It appears from your post you have already tried several of the options mentioned, and there is no need to attempt them again. Two possibilities remain, however -
Use two-step verification
Enter your Recovery Key.
Choose a trusted device. We'll send your device a verification code.
Enter the verification code.
Set a new password and select Reset Password.
If you never set up two-step verification, go on to the next step -
Get help
Make sure that you’re entering the correct Apple ID. In most cases, your Apple ID is also the primary email address of your Apple ID account. If these steps didn't help you change your password, contact Apple Support.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Unable to Log out in Apple discussions

When I try to log out in Apple Discussions, I get an error message saying cannot find page. I have to shut down Safari to logout. I haven't had any problems before. I did have to change my Apple ID to be able to use my new iPod Touch recently so would that have made a difference, or is it something Apple Discussions has been experiencing lately?

I have also had some intermittent flakey behavior the past few days but have attributed it to using a Windows Vista machine a few times instead of the Apple equipment
Seriously, the problems I have seen have been more along the lines of not being able to just back up from the second page in a forum to the first page. Have to manually hit page 1 to get back. A few times, backing up has taken me to the login page...hit the back arrow again and revert to the master list. Just a little flakey lately and inconsistent.
Nothing disasterous, though, so I have just been living with it...may be due to very high usage, when the MBA was announced the system seemed to come to its knees...just way too many people logged in is my guess.

  • Log Out of Apple Website

Hi everyone, I'm new to mac and of course this forum.
After reading apple's tips for protecting your account, their first suggestion is:
"Always sign out after you have finished purchasing from any Apple website or service."
Well where do you log out? I've been searching everytime I log into my account and can't find it anywhere. I just end up closing the webpage to exit. When I asked that question to customer service after purchasing three mac products they didn't seem to have an answer. The logout is in plan site for this forum, why not the same for their website?
    thanks for any help,
    ome

I see what you mean. I went to the Apple store and ended up being logged out by just quiting my browser in it's menu.

  • Cannot log out of Apple Store

There doesn't seem to be an Apple Store discussions section, so given that it relates to my iPhone 4 order, I'll post here!
The following kb article explains that to protect your Apple ID you should log out when you finish:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4232
However, there appears to be no way to do this after logging into the Apple online store.

I wasn't able to find anyway to log out as well. I also search to internet and found people having the same problem. I'm using safari. I closed safari and cleared cookies. When I navigated back to store.apple.com, my login info was gone.

  • How to log out of apple store?

There is no log out button after visiting the Apple or MAC store.  Have i missed something?
    Thank you for any pointer.

I'll have to disagree that there is "no need to do that."
    Here's my situation:
I have a few different Apple IDs (for personal, for business).  I received an email telling me that there was updated information regarding the status and estimated shipping date for my Mac Pro order.  I clicked through to store.apple.com and entered my credentials to check the status of my order.  After signing in, I realized that I used the wrong Apple ID and I should have used a different one.  But...there is no way to sign out (that I can find).  And even if I close out that browser window and then re-visit the page, it keeps my logged in.  So, my concern isn't about someone being able to come along and purchase something because I'm perpetually logged in, my concern is that now I can't get to the information I need because I can't sign in with a different ID.
I'm going to try and quit my browser entirely now (which is a hassle for a handful of reasons); but I find it quite surprising that a) there is no clean or clear way to sign out and b) everyone seems to think there is no use case for signing out.  I can think of several, including my example above.

  • Hello .. how to log out from apple device wothout pc or pc with video steps

i want to log out from all Apple id on all apple device

    Hello there sarmad yasin,
It sounds like you are looking for a way to sign out of all your Apple devices in one go. While this is not a function currently avaiable, you can reset your Apple ID password to prevent access to your information:
Apple ID: Changing your password - Apple Support
Follow these steps to change your Apple ID password. If you can't remember your password, follow the steps for what to do if you forget your Apple ID password.
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com).
Click “Manage your Apple ID” and sign in.
If you have two-step verification turned on, you'll be asked to send a verification code to the trusted device associated with your Apple ID. If you're unable to receive messages at your trusted device, follow the guidelines for what to do if you can't sign in with two-step verification.
    Click "Password and Security".
In the "Choose a new password" section, click Change Password.
Enter your old password, then enter a new password and confirm the new password. Click Save when done.
The next time you use an Apple feature or service that uses Apple ID, you'll be asked to sign in with your new Apple ID password.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • How do I change apple ID w/o knowing password?

I have 2 iPads. One has my Apple ID that is recognized by Apple..I can download Apps, sign on, etc. The other has an older Apple ID and I forgot the password. Can't download Apps or change anything. Trying to change this apple ID to the one on my other iPad has been unproductive..Apple doesn't forward the changed PW info to either of my mailboxes even after successfully entering answers to security questions.
Also, I'd like to make my Apple ID and PW the same as the one recognized already by Apple rather than getting a new PW for both iPads.
I also have an iPhone that has the same Apple ID & PW as the one recognized by Apple, so the problem seems to be in the wrong Apple ID iPad that I can't change.

From what I've read, it WILL mean I will lose everything..the iPad will now be as was when I first got it from Apple. However, that may not be a bad thing, because I'm going to get another iPad and sell the old one.

  • HT4623 We are unable to updates our apps on Ipad , tried to log out of ID as well

We are not able to update Apps on our ipad though tried logging out and in
Does any one knows the Remedy?

There are many posts about this same issue. Apparently there's a problem with the Apple app site. You'll just have to wait and try again later.

  • I have spent the last half hour trying to contact Apple Support and when I called no one answered. Everytime I try to log onto my Apple account it tells me it is not the correct password. I write them down so they can not be wrong. What do I do?

Why do I get a message EVERYTIME I try  to log into my Apple account that says the password is incorrect? I write them down so I know they are correct.

    So then reset it...

  • Why can I not log out of Game Center

Since yesterday I am not able to log out of game canter.
I know how it is supposed to work, and did work until yesterday. Every time I tap on the sign out option, it automatically signs me back in.
I did a device reset, to no avail. Any suggestions?

That's just how it is. I've had Game Center logging me back into games since iOS6.  The closest I can come to anonimity on Game Center is to either not use Game Center games or create a generic ID for use in Game Center only.

  • Way to log out a FSU account in shell?

I'm looking for a way to log out a background user (Fast Switched User - FSU) who forgot to log out - from the terminal.
I know this is trivial in the *nix world, just killing a process probably; I just can't find the command to do it in Mac's flavor (I'm a casual *nix shell user)
BTW, I don't want the Prefs->Security->General "logout after inactivity" setting.... that logs out everybody (including me) and I can't have my account logged out (due to running processes).
these are the closest I have gotten so far but both have problems:
$osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to log out'  <-- but this would log ME out.....
    OR
    kill -9 `ps -u <username> | grep -v PID | awk '{ printf ("%s ", $1); }'`    <---- this has a problem with the argument <username>  and I don't know how to fix it to test it.
    Ideas on this are appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Jason

    Thanks Linc -
but when I try this, it says "no matching processes were found".  I then tried
    > ps -U /username/   (substituting real username of course)
    and I don't see a logonwindow....
    Any suggestions?

  • How to log out of EWS page?

I'm new to the EWS pages but don't see anyway to log out of the page so that the password will be required on the next access.
    Thanks!

    Hi Jim,
The term EWS is mentioned when the user right clicks on the Ditigal Imaging Monitor and then selects the network printer. Along with the options of Status, Toolbox, etc., EWS is one of the options. IIRC, it is also mentioned in the manual. But yeah, calling it Printer Home Page would make things easier.
As for the OP's question, you can directly close the browser. There is no logout button. You can clear the cookies of your browser after you close it, so that the password is not remembered by your browser.

  • I changed my apple id and even though I've logged out and in, and updated everything, I still get "your apple id has been disabled" when I try to update my apps. Help?

I changed my apple id because my email has changed. I've updated everything I can think of on my iPhone. I've logged out and back in and I still get a " your apple id has been disabled" message every time I try to update my apps. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm sure there's an easy solution but I've tried all the tutorials on apple.com and nothing works. Can anyone help?

When you say you have changed your Apple ID, how did you change it? Did you maintain your existing Apple ID via Manage your Apple ID and EDIT it to a new email address, or did you set up a brand new Apple ID?
    Cheers,

  • My sister gave me her old Iphone 4 but and i logged out of her apple accounted and logged into mine but sadly whenever i try to update or download a app ot asks for my password then it ask for hers why is that ?

I basically got this phone about 2 weeks ago and i cannot download or update anything . I would mind it asking for my sisters apple password but she doesn't know it so how do i take it off ? It will ask for mine then a few seconds later it will ask for hers . In my settings everything is signed in as me but i just don't get why it still ask for her apple id. I have logged out and reset all my settings and it still ask for her apple id. If i can figure out how do i get her password ?

Any apps that she downloaded onto the device are tied to her apple ID.  They cannot be transferred to another account.  To update those apps, you would either need her password, or you could delete the apps and download them using your own apple id.
