Logging Queries in 9i

Hello All!
I am new to Oracle.
We have application in Java and Oracle is a backend.
We need to find out, what queries are being fired on Database and when?
How can I gather this information in Oracle 9i?
Someone suggested me Snapshot, but it show only top 10 queries at given point of time.
But what I am looking for is a logging of queries with the time when they initiated.
This will be great help for me.
Sorry if I have put this thread in a wrong forum.
Regards,
Chetan

Hi,
Give a try to Fine-Grained Auditing(click) (via DBMS_FGA).
it can take lots of space depending on # of TPS! Hence you must have some space in system TS. Truncate sys.fga_log$ reclaims space.

Yoann.

  • My question is around the console icon in my doc with the systems log queries. I had never seen that until recently, and wanted to know who is doing the searching on it, or does the computer do this automatically?

Console icon: What is it? What is it's purpose?

    Hello dinakimoo,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Console is a system utility application that can view log messages.  If you'd like to learn more about Console, linked below is the Console help.

  • Zfs-pds-ted.log queries

    Hi,
I keep seeing these messages in the zfs-pds-ted.log but there is no
trace of the application anywhere, as far as I am aware I removed it
over a week ago. We were using an application called Microsoft Defender
    as a test:
    [TED:Event Processing] Distribution directory for
    Defender.DISTRIBUTIONS.ZSM._Services.TREEROOT does not exist
    and
[TED:Work Order In(******)] ERROR - Unable to initialize database access
    and
[TED:Work Order In(******)] Database: Failed to add action EXTRACT
    database entry for Defender.DISTRIBUTIONS.ZSM._Services.TREEROOT
Where else does TED keep a record of recent distributions?
    Thanks

  • I am trying to understand my Console System Log Queries, but not having much luck!!

I am trying to understand my MB late 2011, much better than I do, whilst looking through my console messages, I realised I don't have a clue as too whats what, I seem to be getting a lot of system errors - Is this normal?
Why are Mac Books soooo complicated - !
I would copy and paste my system messages - but once again I am 2 thick -  don't know which bits - if any  would need editing!
Any advise would be a great help.
    Thankyou  in advance.

You would use the Input button on your remote to set the Input to RGB PC and you'll also need audio cables to the TV because the Mini-DVI does not carry audio using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plug. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate input plug on your TV.
When you first hook it up it will probably have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the TV but you can move the cursor onto the TV screen.
In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.

  • Logging Native SQL queries

    Hi all,
using JPA, i get all my data by ORM Instances, sometimes my pages are slow to load, i want to log JPA queries executed. I've search in JAS admin console without results.
how can i enable Log queries and/or where can i list them?
    Regards,

Logging depends on which JPA provider you are using.
If you are using TopLink use the persistence.xml property "toplink.logging.level" = "fine".
For EclipseLink use, "eclipselink.logging.level" = "fine".
You could also enable the PerformanceProfiler.

  • I keep get an "Error (-50)" message when I log into iTunes on my MAC

I didn't have this as a problem before, but all of a sudden I cannot log into my iTunes account on my MAC.  When I try to go into Store and then Sign in, I get an "Error (-50)" message.  I have tried going in and changing the parental controls (something I saw elsewhere), but that didn't work.
I updated both my Mac OS and itunes, but that didn't change anything. I have restarted my computer and even done a hard reset by turning it off.  When I opened iTunes again, before I even did anything, it gave me and "Error (-49)" message.
Also, I have some program called Safe-Eyes on my computer as a parental control, and went in and added all the different websites associated with iTunes (per another help page), but that hasn't worked either.
Because of this, I cannot get any of my songs from iTunes Match, except those that had already been downloaded onto the computer (1/16 of my music library).  Sure I can access them on my iPhone, but now I can't transfer that music onto my Nano.
One additional note: I saw on the communities the recommendation to delete your iTunes Download file, but I don't appear to have one in my iTunes Media folder.
    Thanks!

I am trying to do a full Time Machine Backup to a new external disk. The backup starts, and it says "Time remaining about 4 days." That seems like a very long time, but the real problem is that the computer "logs off" after a few hours, and the backup stops. The system preferences are set to "Never" for Computer sleep and Display sleep. The computer does not ordinarily log off automatically, but it has done this twice since I started the Time Machine backup.

  • My password only works to log into the computer, but not to make admin changes, even though I am the admin account on the computer.  This happened after I tried to change the computer's name. Is there any way to fix this?

Bought my laptop off my room mate and he had master reset it to default.  This still left his name as the computer name and I wanted to change that.  Tried to rename it under the advanced changes section, and now it isn't recognizing my password for anything more than logging in.  I can't unlock the settings to make further changes (or change it back).  I have had my room mate try all of his old passwords and usernames, to no avail.  Is there a way to reset this?  It's also not letting me wipe the drive and start fresh again because, alas, I don't have access without the password.  Any advice would be very helpful.  Thank you!

i'm trying to troubleshoot a recent mysql issue. looking at Server Admin > MySQL > Logs ...
it's pulling the mysql service log file from "/var/mysql/old_dns.example.edu.err" and that dns points to different IP address than what this web server is using. the log looks incomplete.
i'm pretty certain that i installed the OS (10.5.8) on this box from scratch so i don't think that there are remnants of a previous dns. i ran "changeip --checkhostname" and it came back "names match".

i don't understand why 'log' shows "no default value". does anyone have a clue?
That's easy - by default MySQL doesn't maintain binary logs. They're typically only needed if you're using replication, and if you're using replication then there's a slew of other things you need to change too, so enabling bin logs at that time isn't a big deal.
In any case, the command you use isn't going to show you the logging setup - that just finds references to 'log' in the help files and has little or no bearing on the current server configuration (any of those settings may have been overwritten in your MySQL configuration).
The command you want is more like:
    mysqladmin variables | grep log

  • SSAS 2012 Tabular. Analysis Services Query Log not working

    Hello.
It is possible to configure Analysis Services Query Log on SSAS 2012 Tabular (11.0.3321) server? Or this feature works only with Multidimensional server mode?
It is not a problem for me to configure Query Log on Multidimensional server. But when I'm trying to do this in Tabular server result is always the same: table S_OlapQueryLog created but no data there.
This problem exist in our production server. And is fully reproduced in test environment. This problem was reproduced with SQL 2012 RTM, CU4, SP1 and SP1 CU1.
I tryed to configure Analysis Services Query Log by using SQL account. Later by using windows authentification. Accounts was db owners. Later I have used accounts with sysadmin rights. Results was the same.
In msmdsrv.log i can find only related events like this:
(12/7/2012 9:22:59 PM) Message: The query log was started. (Source:
    \\?\P:\Olap\Log\msmdsrv.log, Type: 1, Category: 289, Event ID: 0x41210003)
(12/7/2012 9:25:03 PM) Message: The query log was stopped. (Source:
    \\?\P:\Olap\Log\msmdsrv.log, Type: 1, Category: 289, Event ID: 0x41210004)
I'm stuck completely with this functionality. So if someone was much luckier than I please write to me.
    Regards
    Audrius

I agree with Gerhard's comments, but there are a couple of additional points
    - I am not 100 percent sure if queries that are answered by the SE cache are recorded in the query log
Queries answered by the SE cache are not definitely not recorded in the QueryLog. So depending on the types of queries and the design of your cube you could possible miss a large proportion of the actual end user queries.
The QueryLog records the QuerySubcube events and there are zero to many of these generated for a given end user query (zero if the query can be answered from cache). The optimizer may also choose to pre-fetch a wider range of data or to break a single range
into a few smaller requests so it is not a true indication of the actual query that the end user generated.
Doing a trace is the only way to catch the actual queries submitted by end users.

I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.
