Logi Pro 8 problems

Hi! If my logic 8 're-do' function is not working, what could be the problem?
Is there any particular setting i need to set?
I realised Logic 8 keeps crashing and hangs and keep duplicating audio regions intermittently whenever i tried to drag a region over. Anyone experiencing the same problem?
Logic 8 also crash when i tried to replace files with the same file name during bouncing.
Has any of these problems got anything to do with the technical issues of the mac or its a logic 8 problem?

  • Log in problems-please help!

    Hi everybody!
I repost my log in problems with some uppdate info, it may help someone to come up with a solution....I am no computer expert, so please excuse my way of describing this problem.
I switched my Mac off manually after having been frozen from the sleep mode.
I have 2 accounts, one admin and one regular. I try to log into my admin, and I get the message "You are unable to log in to the user "my username" at this time".
I restart the computer, same problem again. I can log in to my second account with no problem. I reinstall OS X, same problem again. I ran the disk utility from the installation CD, even changed the passwords and I am still gettig the same message. Neither can I log in when in safe mode.
I would appreciate any suggestion, since my admin account contains valuable data and to reinstal/restore everything will be a pain..and probably impossible. Moreover, the data are encoded in the file vault and I cannot open them from my regular account, or can I? I have tried to open the sparseimage file in the admin user catalog, but I get "no mountable file systems".
Is there any hope? Or should I return my Mac to Apple, in 3 days my one year guarantee expires....
    Thanks
    Evacha
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    "no mountable file systems"
Sorry to hear of your difficulties, but unfortunately, the above message suggests that your data is likely permanently lost.
When data is stored in a disk image, damage to any portion of that image has the potential to render all of the files on the image inaccessible. Shutting off the power to the computer without "shutting down" normally increases the risk of damage to the directory in general, but if the image was actually mounted at the time, then damage could also occur to the directory in the disk image. Sometimes such errors may be repairable, but with "FileVault", the disk image is encrypted, reducing the chances of a successful recovery. It is unfortunate that nobody told you that maintaining up to date backups is essential when working with "FileVault" protected accounts.
" the data are encoded in the file vault and I cannot open them from my regular account, or can I?"
Normally, only the owner of the ".sparseimage" used in "Filevault" is able to access the image to attempt to open it - this is strictly a permissions issue and has nothing to do with encryption. If someone other than the owner attempts to open the disk image, the message is something like "Filesystem failed to mount... permissions denied". If the permissions are changed such that other users are allowed to use the ".sparseimage", the they would normally be prompted for the password and be allowed to mount the image. However, the "no mountable file systems" error indicates a problem with the image itself.
It is not likely to succeed because I think the filesystem needs to be mounted for this to work, but there is no harm in trying to repair the disk image. Control-click on the "user.sparseimage" file and select "Get Info" from the contextual menu. Under ownership and permissions, change the "Owner" to the second user, or else give "Owner", "Group" and "Other" "Read & Write" access, then follow the instructions in this document:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25695
You could also try some of the strategies described in this hint, but again, the probability of success is low:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050326041757989
I don't think you will be able to return your computer - check the documentation to make sure, but I think the "one year" only covers repairs if there is an actual physical defect - perhaps what is responsible for the original sleep problem. However, if you suspect you may have a lemon, you might want to consider buying two more years of AppleCare coverage as insurance, but I think it has to be activated before the original 1 year is up so you would have to hurry. But so far, I don't see any solid evidence of a defect - loss of the user data can be attributed to cutting the power without shutting down, which you said you have done more than once.

  • Major log-in problems at the moment. Is XP to blam...

There are quite a few threads on log-in problems at the moment and the Moderators have taken an interest e.g. https://community.bt.com/t5/Other-Broadband-Queries/Email-log-in-issues-for-over-a-week/m-p/1145486/...
I've have asked here in several threads if BT has an issue with XP.
At the moment I cannot log-in on my XP desktop. I've tried  IE8, Chrome & Firefox. I've not installed Safari - yet.
The screen stays white and says 'connecting to BT' and stays like that for ages.
Is anyone else having this problem. If so, are you on XP?

BT websites have problems with IE8.  XP and Google Chrome do not have the same issues.  I notice that if you click on the email tab in the forum using Google chrome you need to login to your BT ID before logging in to your email.
With IE8 when I use my standard link to the forum it does not display the blue bar with the email tab.
Using XP you have the luxury of using Outlook Express to handle your emails. IMHO this is by far the best email client to use for HOME use.
I would suggest you concentrate on why you are having problems with XP and Google Chrome  as the XP, IE8 and BT issues are unlikely to be fixed.

  • Ati 9600 Pro Problem Sloved

Had serious problems getting my Radeon 9600 Pro to work with my MSI 875 Board.
System crashed after 5 seconds of play and sometimes after 10-15 minutes of gameplay. But it never crashed when I was surfing the net or stuff like that.
The solution  for me was Zalman heatpipe cooling for the ATI card and a new 360 watt PSU to replace my old 340 watt PSU. And now my card is stable as ****
I guess the 9600 PRO problem is a PSU problem and if you take a look at the stock fan I think most of you would like to replace that one as well.

I am glad that you fixed the problem ...I also bet that the PSU was a greater factor in the fix ...Good job "RKbauge"!!...Sean REILLY875

and, i might add, since it appears he is still running 10.4.8 and may not have done the 10.4.10 update, it would seem to narrow down the problem to possibly bad airport firmware or bad airport driver. something that apple needs to address. i suggest you call appleCare and get a case number started and join the club.

  • Huge MacBook Pro Problem - Please Help!

Okay I have so many problems I don't even know where to begin.
I bought my 13" MacBook Pro in August of 2009. Two days after I got it, it completely stopped working. I took it to an Apple authorized repair shop, who told me I had spilled iced tea all over it and it was ruined, never to be fixed again. Long story short, I took it to a different Apple authorized repair shop, only to find out that the battery had leaked inside of it. When I got the computer back two months later, it would only remain powered on as long as it was connected to the charger. I took it back and had it fixed. All said and done, I finally had a working MacBook Pro in January of 2009. (Although much of the delay had to do with me living hundreds of miles from the repair shop).
Fast forward to July of 2011. Mountain Lion, I believe it was, had been released, and I was going to upgrade from Leopard. I worked in a Museum and my boss said that I could use their DVD of Snow Leopard to upgrade, so I could download Mountain Lion through the App Store, since I was using my computer for work a lot and they had a license. I upgraded and I have had nothing but nightmares since. For the past year and a half, my computer is constantly freezing, applications quit unexpectedly, and if I have more than one tab open and happen to do something safari doesn't agree with, I get a notice that "Webpages are unresponsive. Please click continue to force reload" or something along those lines which then forces every site in all tabs to reload but often just causes safari to crash. Furthermore after Safari crashes when I open it again, I have to leave it for AT LEAST ten minutes before the app becomes responsive. However, if I force quit safari immediately after I open it (post-crash), then open it again - it works fine. Weird, I know.
Now I have some really big problems. My computer is constantly going into a kernel panic, where I get the grey screen informing me to restart (and by constantly, I mean I'm shocked I've been able to type this much and not lost it all to a restart warning). Sometimes when I restart as soon as I log in and get the "you had to restart because of a problem, send a report to apple" dialogue, I immediately have to restart again. Sometimes when I restart, I get the circle/slash and it won't turn on. And lastly now, in the last hour (of which I have had to restart twice), it refuses to boot in anything but safe mode. I'm not holding down the shift key.
Oh and another thing of note - it refuses to open some programs, giving various errors; it refuses to allow me to move around files (error code -50); and it refuses to let me empty the trash (error code -50 again). I'm trying to free up a ton of space on my harddrive but it's proving difficult because of my MacBook's refusal to cooperate.
It's all backed up so I can do what I need to do to fix or alter this situation. My boyfriend wants me to just rescue everything from my harddrive and buy an air, but I'm having a lot of trouble considering that because of the amount of issues I've had with both this computer and my iPhone Bring back the iBook! They were the best.
NOTE: I had to restart my computer twice since I started writing this. Thank goodness for autosave on the apple communities.

    Thanks.
This is what I'm getting for my most recent:

  • Mac Crashes - Log indicates problem with Dock

My MAC hangs once in a few hours (fairly random) and the Crash Log seems to indicate it is a problem with the Dock Application. There is no correlation between other applications that I am using and the crash. Many times it happens soon after boot up.
Also, I am not using any widgets and am not synching with an iPhone or iPod.
The Crash Log is provided below and I would appreciate any support on how to resolve this.

I have been having similar dock crashes --- I think they are caused by OpenOffice --- OO 3 and 3.01 both seem to have the problem.
I have a MacBook Pro 17 dual core Intel.
I started seeing the dock crashes on a 10.5.6 which had been upgraded all the way from Tiger to Leopard and onward to 10.5.6 including secupd2009-001.
The crashes were always similar to the original poster's. (see below).
After working on this for weeks I wasn't even able to tell for sure if this was hardware or OS software but I strongly suspected the latter.
Finally, I paid $100 for a Leopard DVD, and (in a separate partition) did an erase and install.
The problem went away for a while but now it's back.
The dock crashes restarted on the same day that I installed OpenOffice.
I just now dragged the OO icon out of the dock and instantly experienced a true system crash --- system locked up, will not respond to mouse, or any keystrokes --- had to power reset.
I have just used appdelete to unintall Open Ofice and all its friends.
I am going to try rebooting now and will agment this reply to tell results.
    ============== UPDATE NEWS FLASH ==========================================
I restarted after uninstalling OpenOffice and the only relevenat syslog msgs was this one:

I hope I have identified the culprit and will post anything more I learn.

  • Novell client on Vista log-in problem.

(Netware 6.5) Installing a Vista pro with the latest Novell VISTA
client ( 1.0), I ran into problems. It's like the client won't browse
the tree and therefore can't log in. If I enter the server's IP
address in the tree field, it finds both the context and the server
right away. But after a reboot, that's gone again and you have to
enter the server IP manually again to log in?
This works fine on the XP clients in the same network. I have tried
to enter the server IP in the SLP scope list and add DHCP to the
protocol list - but that didn't make any difference.
It's like the NW naming disappears after each reboot.
    Any suggestions?

these are the classic "slp is not configured correctly" symptoms...
    slpinfo /all shows what?
and do you have the proper DA IP# and scope configured?
there are MANY threads discussing this in this group. search should
    find them....
    Cheers!

  • Internet logging in problems.

I have a Macbook Pro 15 inch using OS  10.4.11. I use Firefox.
Here lately, I have been having problems getting on to the internet. I have Uverse dsl modem and my apple airport connected to it. Every now and then, I would have to disconnect and reconnect the power to the basestation to log into the network. Now, it shows I am logged in but would not connect to the internet. I would restart the computer and sometimes it works and sometimes not. It has gotten worse because I am thinking there is a file on my computer that is corrupted and not allowing me to get onto the internet.
Does anyone know what preference files or other files that may be causing my computer to not to be able to log onto the internet?
I also have an Imac and it works fine. I disconnected both the dsl modem and airport and restarted and it fixed the problem on the Imac, but not on my macbook pro. So my guess is there is some file on my laptop that may be damaged.
    Thanks.

try using the airport utility and creating a new account, maybe the corruption won't be on the new user

  • More Macbook Pro Problems

Hello again. I have another problem with my macbook pro, in addition to the previous one that nobody was able to help me with.
I have gotten to the point where I turn on my mac, go to my main user, and there would only be a blue screen without any icons or my background loading. I have reset in single user mode and tried a few things, and mainly all I can accomplish is getting the log in screen to come up so that I can get to another user. I just logged into another user, and it turns out that my computer is now reading 75 GB of free space. So, if I have done steps 5-8 on this site: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106464, does that mean that not only is my harddrive entirely deletyed, but I cannot get the computer to still work?
I can't believe how unreliable this computer has been. I should not be dealing with this, and yet I am having more trouble with this Mac than any windows computer I have owned. I would like to mention that I have little 3rd party software, adn have no hacks.

Have you taken it in for repair? Perhaps that is what you need to do especially if it's still in warranty. I think this is your best course of action because it's apparent from your post that you don't really know what you are doing as far as "fixing" it is concerned.

  • J2ee1.4 and log file problem

    Hello all,
    I am running J2ee1.4 on Win 2000 Pro. I have 2 problems:
    1) The server.log file becomes too big even I set its size. Seem like it does not rotate when the limit size is reached. (I set it for 2MB)
    2) Under Logging tab, I enabled the option "Log messages to standard error", but when I restart the server It cannot start the server1 instance.
Can anyone please help me on this. I would like to see messages on standard output screen and I do not want the log file take all my hardrive space. Thank you so much!

Thank you for responding. When I enable the option "Log messages to standard error" and restart the j2ee1.4 server I got the following message:
    Starting Domain domain1, please wait.
    Log redirected to C:\Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\logs\server.log
    Subprocess timed out after 600000mS
CLI156 Could not start the domain domain1
    Press any key to countinue...
When I look at processes under Window Task Manager, java.exe and javaw.exe is running. At the end, I cannot start it in "verbose" mode. Is there any other thing I need to do beside enable the "Log messages to standard error" ?
    I am appreciated any help.

  • Starting my mac book pro, PROBLEM...

    Hello there!
When i start my macbook pro with a short click on the start button it begins to work for 2 sec. then interrupts and it's out again. Only by long clicking on the start button i can start mac OS X or vista...
Is this a problem of the firmware because i remeber i had to make a long click during the update of my firmware half a year ago.... but this problem exists since yesterday...
    can anybody help me?

    Glad it worked.
Why did it happen? Lots of things can cause the SMC (which manages power in the system) to become corrupted...you might try to remember what you did between the last time it worked normally and when you noticed the problem.
Check the console logs, there may be a clue there.
At least now if it happens again you have an easy way to correct it.
