Logic 6 Plugin settings

Hi there....
I still have Logic 6 installed on my machine (now running LP7) because it gives you the plugin presets from logic 6 which aren't in version 7. There are a lot of these that I still use. I want to get rid of 6 but I don't want to lose all of those presets. Anyone got any ideas as to how I copy ALL of the presets easily into Logic 7, so that they appear in the drop down folder?
Muchos thanky.

Open the Logic 6 directory in applications. The plugin presets and settings are in /Settings, the Instruments in /Sampler Instruments, and so on.
Make sure you've got the settings, sampler instruments and impulse files, and place them in appropriate places in the Logic 7 content in Library/Application Support/Logic/ etc

  • Plugin settings not preserved from MacPro to G5 - Logic Pro

    Hi there,
I have an annoying problem - I recently recorded some songs on my Macbook Pro using Logic Pro 7.2.3 and the Renaissance compressor and reverb from the Platinum bundle. I found when I transferred the song files back to my G5 that the Waves plugin settings were not preserved and reverted back to the defaults, and I have had to write down the settings for each track and reset them manually.
I have the Waves 5.9.1 Platinum bundle on the Macbook Pro and the 5.2.1 bundle on the G5 both running OS X 10.4.9.
Has you seen this problem before?
Any comments would be most welcome!
    Regards
    Rick

    Hi there,
I have done some experimentation on the different platforms, but I still have had no success in resolving this, even though I have installed the latest version of the Waves plugins on my PPC Mac. I do have some comments to make from the tests I made to try to track down the problem.
Saving the settings in Logic as channel strips or using the down arrow on the Logic frame surrounding the plugin, and selecting 'Save As' do not transfer the settings saved on an Intel based mac to a PPC based one (.aupreset files are saved this way).
What does work is saving the settings from the 'Save' button on the Waves plugin itself and transferring the .xps file from the Intel Mac to the PPC mac and loading the setting from that file.
The reason for this may be because the Waves format file (.xps - XML format) stores the plugin settings in human-readable form in the file. The Logic format file (.aupreset - also XML) on the other hand saves the plugin settings as a block of mixed text characters representing the settings as binary data.
Since this is the case, I think that the PPC Waves plugin can handle its own format files 'cos they are in readable text, but when presented with binary data (which presumably has byte swapped data words in it - Intel and PPC chips differ in this respect) it cannot understand what is being presented to it and fails to load the info.
If that is the case, Waves need to change their plugins on the PPC platform to understand settings delivered in a binary form from Logic - I keep looking at the Waves site periodically to see if they have.
    Cheers

  • Finding good plugin settings

After purchasing Logic Pro, I was surprised the setting choices that came with plugins (EQ, Space Designer, etc...) were not very realistic. A Piano in a Space Designer "Piano Concert Hall" sounds more like it's in outer space. The EQ setting for piano also sounds muffled and unrealistic. I've been able to play around with the settings to make them more realistic, but I was wondering if there is a forum somewhere where people post their plugin settings. It would be nice to share in all the hard work it takes to fine-tune these settings.
Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I did take the time to visit the spamgourmet site and have to say it really sounds like a great idea!
But anyway yes, we welcome all of your Logic presets: plug-ins, channel strips, Environments or song templates... and we already have about 40 of those files posted by members. I'd actually like to hear your enhanced piano sound preset.

  • Many logic plugins failing validation

I am running logic 9.1.7 on osx 10.6.8
many logic plugins failing validation including those that worked before.   Also I find those same plugins are working fine in ableton live.  I just installed updates for many native instruments plugins and installed spectrasonics omnisphere.
now all my native instrument, waves, and spectrosonics plugins crash during the validation phase.  Also uhe plugins like zebraCM crash.
I go into the Audio Units manager and select one of the native instrument plugins that works fine in ableton live and it crashes upon validation.  what is the best way to troubleshoot this problem?
    Cheers.

    Hi,
First you should(if you can) change your title. "Logic plugins" don't need validation. They're part of the program. Second, you should trace where your problems began. Ableton might be using the VST versions of all your plugins, that's why they're working fine in Live. Logic uses the AU versions of those plugins.
If your problems began when you updated the plugins, i doubt that all those companies' AU updates are bogus. So, it looks to me like you either have a problem at the core of your OSX installation, or(without accusing you of anything) the "place" where you got your updates didn't do a good job at cracking the AU versions. Good luck.
P.S. An easy way of checking if it's Logic or OSX would be to load these plugins in GarageBand. If they load up fine in GB, you have a problem at the Logic app level...

  • Logic 9 - 3rd Party Plugin Settings not rememebered

Is anyone else having these problems?
GearBox and PodFarm don't recall their settings after Logic 8 to Logic 9 upgrade, so compete mixes have GONE!!!!
Wave Burner does the same thing with 3rd Party Plugins!!!!! Ozone is not recalling anything.
This is REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD!
I've lost weeks, months and in some cases YEARS of work on some projects.
    Thanks Apple, lovely.

This is the wrong forum (because it is clearly not a general problem with AudioUnits), you should contact the plugin manufacturers!
I don't know GearBox and PodFarm, but Ozone is incompatible with a new feature in WaveBurner and needs an update.

  • HT201250 Time Machine migrate to a new Macbook Pro and keeping Logic plugins

So, I'm getting a new macbook pro (the latest 15" with the highest spec) and I'm looking to transfer everything using Time Machine, so that it's as if I'm still using the same machine. I use Logic 9 and I have hundreds of expensive plugins and I want to be sure that they will transfer across and I won't need to buy any of them again. I appreciate that some may have compatabiity issues, but that aside, will everything transfer as if I'm using the same machine and it will all be exactly the same?

    Hello there, micchaelfrombarnes.
As per the article you were referred to us from, Time Machine should be able to restore your new MacBook  to be just like your current one:
Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
Time Machine automatically backs up your entire Mac, including system files, applications, accounts, preferences, email messages, music, photos, movies, and documents.
    Additionally:
Migrating a Time Machine backup to a new Mac
When you get a new Mac, you can transfer all of your applications, files, settings, and other information from a Time Machine backup you've already made. When you start up your new Mac for the first time, the Setup Assistant asks you if you would like to restore from backup. If you've already set up your new Mac, you can use theMigration Assistant (located in Applications/Utilities) to do the same thing.
After Migration Assistant completes the transfer and you select your existing Time Machine backup drive, you will be prompted with "Inherit Backup History". Once selected you will be able to continue to use your existing Time Machine backup on your new Mac.
For a more detailed instruction on how to migrate the data from your Time Machine backup, refer to this article:

  • Stability of included Logic plugins when using Logic with BFD 2

    Hi,
I have a new mac pro purchased a couple of months ago. I bought logic studio, and then BFD 2 (a drum addon). Now that I've got a good pair of speakers connected up to my mac (through the phones socket as changing logic to use the line out crashed it) I started to use the effects plugins to process the drum sounds, just using the plugins installed when you install logic studio. Now, i found it was crashing rather easily, so i installed the two logic updates i found on the apple updates site, named LogicPro8.0.2Update.dmg and ProApplicationsUpdate2008-01.dmg.
Unfortunately, the mac isn't connected to the 'net so i can't automatically check for updates. BFD 2 is also up-to-date.
However, Logic is still extremely prone to crashing when I try and change anything in a plugin. The plugins I've tried using so far are the multipressor and the compressor but it's the same thing: change some settings in the plugin, click on the play button in the transport controls and the mac bombs (can't do anything)
Am i just not being patient enough? I do wait a few minutes before powering off but for the last couple of minutes there's no sign of activity (e.g. hard disk spinning) from the mac
I thought macs were so much more expensive than PCs because they work better. Well if this is "better" I'm never going to waste the extra money buying a Mac again. I'm new to music-making so it's not like I'll be wasting a detailed knowledge of Logic

Sorry to hear about your frustrations. I'm using BFD2 on a macpro 8 core. And it's running extremely well. My computer will still occassionally lock up, but it is the best it has ever been. Their should be NO issue with using Logic's plugins with BFD2. They have been tested thoroughly. I don't think your 'patience' is the issue. Something sounds wrong.
Try to eliminate issues, to figure out what is going on. Don't run any other applications while running Logic. You might try temporarily removing all 3rd party components from Audio Unit plugin folder except BFD2.
Run disk permissions repair, and repair disk. I gather running 'airport' might cause issues, but I never used that myself. If you DONT use BFD2, can you still get Logic to crash moving knobs in the plug in?. Also Logic SHOULD NOT crash by using line out. That's an indication that something else is wrong
Also try logging on as another user. Create one if necessary. See if Logic/BFD runs better that way..
The last, most desperate measure is WIPE your hard drive, and re-install OSX, and your applications. I have had to do that a couple of times, and it will make a huge difference.
If you run a program a program like techtool pro, and ascertain, there is nothing wrong with the hardware of your machine. (and there probably isn't). It implies there is some kind of conflict with software, or corruption of data on your drives. And that does happen. I have a huge EXS sample library, and it is not uncommon, for it to occassionally find an 'end of line error', or not able to find a sound sample at all. These issues 'creep in' just like one day, you get in your car and find the windshield wipers don't work, or the radio crackles etc.
Hope this helps. Did you try checking BFD's sight for help?. I have emailed them with Logic issues, and they have been helpful for me in the past...

  • Flash Plugin Settings in Firefox

I'm confused about the new on-line settings panel used by the
flash plugin. I use Firefox 3.0.3, and Flash 9. While trying to
load a website on my local drive i get a dialog that informs me
that flash has stopped the load due to security reasons and to
allow it to click "Settings...". This takes me to a macromedia web
site with the settings panel. Ini global settings, I try to select
Allow, and enter the full path to the folder where the web site
files are located, and click Confirm. I then reload the web site,
and get the dialog again. Looking at the settings panel, if I
choose a different tab and then go back to Global Security
Settings, it is reset to Always Ask and my path I just entered is
no longer in the "trust this..." box. Nothing I can do will load
    this file.
However, if I swicth to the IE rendering engine (in Firefox),
the site loads as it should, with no warning, and plays the flash
fine. I suspect it may be a problem with the web site (generated by
Slideshow Pro in Lightroom) running in Firefox. But does it explain
what is happening in the Flash Settings Panel? I don't really get
that on-line panel. Any help or insight would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Exactly the same issue, seems like an error in FireFox to me in about:plugins.. But I am not sure. I got the same sha1sum as you but when i check the strings in the so ELF file, i find out it's 425?

fully updated, and adobe's repo installed (same as yours).
    ]$ firefox -v
    Mozilla Firefox 34.0
    Don't understand it, I've tried
yum install yum-plugin-remove-with-leaves -y; yum autoremove flash-plugin -y; yum clean all; yum install flash-plugin -y
    But still, the same.

  • Will non-universal-binary Logic+plugins run on an Intel Mac?

    Hi,
this may sound like a dumb question, but I haven't found a straightforward answer on this question yet: will my Logic 7.1 (not Universal Binary) install on an Intel-Mac?? Our local Mac store expected that Rosatta will take care of everything, and that only performance will suffer a bit.
That would mean that all non-universal-binary plugins would run, too??!!
    Just curious...
    Thanks!

    Hi Jaap,
    In a word, nope!
It seems you're more informed than your local dealer, :o)
Rosetta will not handle the plug-ins & third party (AU) need the (U B) upgrades. You need the 7.2 (U. Binary) to run logic on the new Intel machines.

  • WIPEdit Plugin settings for 11.5.3

We are evaluating the 11.5.3 WIPEdit plugin, and noticed an issue with tersubs. The ZS (Zero Selection) option doesn't seem to be working correctly; a tersub using this option has the 'Replace paragraph' button grayed out until you make a selection. I am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if there is a workaround; our forms were developed in Documaker Studio 11.2.9, so we can't use Paragraph Selection yet. Is there a setting for WIPEdit.ini that allows us to make proper use of "old" tersub functionality?
    Thanks
    Tony

There are no settings to know, because there aren't any unless you have a DVD player that will handle media player files or other such computer media. If you want a DVD then you need to consider other software. I am on Windows 7, and I use ProShow Gold to produce my DVDs.

  • Logic plugins ok one min, then " / " thru them next time I open the project

Hi everyone. I am just finished up the final mix on an album produced in Logic. I just opened a project to find that a bunch of my Logic (non-external) plugins have a big " / " through them. I can see what plugin's they are, but it wont let me open them and they won't function.
What happened?? Am I able to get them back somehow?? I already closed the project without saving and tried re-opening it but it didn't work. Help Anyone have the same problem?

Try this: go to *Logic Pro>Preferences>Audio>Devices>Coreaudio*
UNtick Enabled, REtick enabled, click *Apply Changes,* close prefs. Plugs back?

  • JRE 1.6.0_05 Plugin settings ignore cache size

    Hi!
I just tried to reduce the cache size of my Java plugin and, however, this setting is ignored by the plugin. I set the size on 50 MB, but the plugin still caches temporary files in the default folder (C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\mas\Anwendungsdaten\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache ...) - actually about 100 MB.
Does anybody knows why, or is this just a bug?
Is it okay, that the plugin caches all files of an applet several times, although its always the same applet (same version, same host, same everything...)?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best regards
    Marc

    Hey lynchmob,
Try these steps to correct the problem, you need to be logged in as an administrator:
    1. Go to the group policy editor. You can get they by typing gpedit.msc into the Run dialog.
    2. Navigate to computer configuration->administrative templates->windows components->internet explorer.
    3. Disable "make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per-user)".
    4. Login with the user account and go to Internet Options.
    5. Go to the Connection tab.
    6. Click on the Lan Settings button.
    7. You may notice that the proxy settings are not correct. Change the proxy settings to be whatever is required for your proxy.
    8. Configure Java to use browser proxy settings.
    9. Open the java console.
    10. Set debug level to 5.
    11. Press 'p' to reload proxy settings. Use the trace messages to verify correct proxy settings were loaded.

  • No way to save Audio Track Mixer or Audio Plugin Settings?!

Am I stupid, or is there really no way to save my Audio Track Mixer setup, NOR a way to create my own presets for Audio Track Effects???
I spent a lot of time setting up the Track Mixer, with submix tracks, lots of effects on different tracks, etc.
The ONLY way I've found to use this setup again is to duplicate the sequence. Which is a PITA when it's a new project, and I have to dig it up from an old project with the (annoyingly slow) Media Browser ... or create a "template" project.
And what about settings for plugins??? Like the "Mastering" plugin ... the built in presets are pretty useless ... is there no way to copy the settings from one sequence to another? Or create my own presets?

    Am I stupid?
    Heavens, no.
...is there really no way to save my Audio Track Mixer setup, NOR a way to create my own presets for Audio Track Effects???
    Nope.
I do what you do... duplicate Sequences.

  • Plugins settings reset to full

Does anyone have a problem with plugins such as the logic compressor resetting itself to full threshold as soon as you let go of the control.
If i pull the control on the gui down to a level i want, as soon as i release the mouse the control jumps back to maximum,
This does this on both logic and 3rd party plugs.
I have removed all contensious plugins and still the same.
    I'm running Latest everything on a dual 2.5 g5 5gig ram
