Logic 7.1 on intel mac

i have got logic express 7.1 on a intel mac, i believe i need to have 7.2, where do i find this?

thanks, seems a long winded road to go, do you really have to send your disc off to get the update, they have a crossgrade fulfillment in the shop for £19.95. which you can buy it now, is that the same thing? will they just send you a disc?

I'm trying to install all of this
    Pro Tools works
    Logic (CoreAudio) WWorks
I can't get showing the 'DAE' and 'DTDM' tab in the Audio Preferences of Logic.
    Is there something I'm missing?
Is there any file to move in order to have ProTools hardware noticed by the MacPro?

Logic Pro 7 is NOT, I repeat Not compatible with LEOPARD. And NOt with PT HD on LEOPARD.
You need to upgrade to Logic Pro 8. And read the manual first, to install Logic with DAE support correctly.

  • Logic Express 7 on intel mac

I just purchased an intel mac and have installed Logic Express 7 on it.  I cannot get it to record audio (states "audio disabled") and it won't respond to midi commands.  Everything basic about the program seems to be up and running besides this.  As I've never used this program I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong in the set up or if the program won't run on my intel mac. Garageband 09 works immediately for me upon opening, as does Soundtrack 3.  Am I missing something or do I have to upgrade?  Thank you much for your assistance.

It seems that the Mini behaves well in general terms, but as mentioned by Mike Conelly in this post, under certain special circumstances, the computer "seems to choke when there were a bunch of plugs on the same track, performance was much better when I only had 10 short on each track instead of 15. This may improve some of the results already reported if you left 15 running on the first track, feel free to double check your results if you think it will make a difference on your box".
Comparing his benchmarks to others listed in the forum, is really encouraging.
I understand that LE is a lot less resource consuming than LP, so probably I'll end buying one soon. If so, I'll post my results. At this time, my iBook is collapsing when using two or three software instruments with big chords...
Last but not least, I'll always have the freeze feature to save CPU...
    Thanks again!

  • Opening Logic Saves from an Intel Mac on A Powermac

    Hi all.
I tried searching for this topic before I posted and couldn't find anything, so I hope i'm not beating a dead horse.
Anyway, me and my buddy both using logic express 7 to collaborate on some music but were having a major issue. I have a Macbook and he has a Powerbook G4. I can open his saved projects just fine, but if he tries to open mine it just crashes logic. My question is - Does my Intel mac save with binary coding, making it impossible for him to open my projects or is theres something else going on here? Is there anything i can do??
Any input would be greatly appreciated

Do you and your friend have the same Project settings (File > Project > Settings) which determine how imported files are handled?

  • Would my plug-ins work in Logic 7.2 and intel mac?

This may be a dumb question but would my plug-ins that work in Logic 7.1 on my Powerbook work in Logic 7.2 on an intel mac?

The statement I made is not a "blanket" one, if one is looking at the big picture.
I understand why you would consider that a blanket statement, since you are narrowly looking only at one angle.
The user did not state that this is the only reason he is getting a computer, and he did not specify that he is using the computer ONLY for Logic, and therefore, it is wise to consider all options.
In what way was my comment narrow?
Everyone's situation is different depending on what software, plugins and peripherals are used. Making a recommendation based on months makes no sense since someone's software may be ready much sooner than that, or may be available even later.
The decision to upgrade should be based on whether the things you need to run are ready or not. Doing it this way considers all options, picking a number of months out of a hat is narrowly looking at one angle.

  • Can't run neither Protools or Logic on my new intel mac!

Hi. I am really starting to get frustrated about this!!! I recently bought a Macbook Pro to run Logic Pro 7.2.2 on using a digi002 rack interface. Everything seem to be working out right according to all settings both in audio/midi setup in mac-utlities, Logic and Protools. The problem is that I can't even run more than 8-9 audio tracks before cpu starts complaining! I really don't get it! I have updated to all the newest driver versions and my computer seems to find the digi002 with troubles at all..When I run Logic the same error always occurs: conlfict between Logic and external device! Midi and audio can't syncronize! I have also tried with another firewire cable to check on cableconnection between computer and interface, but it is still the same! I'm about to throw this piece of s... out my window! I didn't have any of these problems the G5 I had before! Other people I have talked with havn't had any problems with their macbook pro and running Logic so far...

Something isn't right in the DIgi kitchen. This comment has come up several times this week, mainly from Mbox owners, but also 002 users. I can't remember what version of Logic other people are using who are having problems, but I wonder if it's something with version 7.2.2 - the latest release. Have you got an older version you can go back to and see if that clears it? If you can get back to 7.2.1 have a go and let us know how you get on, it could answer a lot of problems for people out there in your situation.

  • Logic Pro 7 on Intel Mac.....

Help, is there anyway that I can load my Logic Pro 7 onto my Macbook Pro, so that I can convert my old 7 files to 9? I don't have access to a G4 or G5 Mac.....Many Thanks!

Looks like it will install, if you have 7.2 or above give it a try.

  • Logic Pro 8 On Intel Mac Used with PTHD 7.4   WORKS!!!!!!!!!

I have posted earlier that It did not work, But after Hours of trying, it finally Work.
I wanted to be able to use Logic Plugins PLUS all TDM plugins.
If you want to use the Logic Plugins, Create a DTDM track, Output it to ESB 1-8, Then to conect it to TDM you habe to create a DAE track With the input as ESB 1-8 and output to Output 1-2.
My Mackie and 2 Extenders works much better under LogicControl than HUI. A big plus
The Elastic Audio in PT 7.4 is amazing, I was just playing with it for an hour or so, I did not go deep but the sound quality is very convincing. An E stretch to a D sounds like an original D, not like it was rubber pulled.
    Eric D

I'll be trying this next week when I get some free time. Instead of running Logic on my second computer as I usually do I'll run Kontakt 3 and 2 both in standalone mode for many, many gigabytes of instruments.

  • Logic Pro 8 PPC Songfiles on Intel Macs?

    Dear fellow board members,
did anyone experiance problems with a Logic 8 Song file, that was created and saved with Logic 8 on a PPC-Mac, and which has then been opened on Logic 8 on an Intel-Mac? Would I be save to create my Logic 8 Autoload Song (With Plug-Ins, Instruments, Busses, Aux', etc.) on my G5 PPC now, and later import it to a MacPro, when I would switch to an Intel MacPro?
I would be happy if you want to share your ideas or experiances!
    Best,

  • No total recall after change from Windows Logic Platinum 5.5.1 to Intel Mac

    Hi Logic-users,
up to now I was using Logic 5.5.1 on a Windows-PC. Some days ago I changed over to Intel Mac and Logic 7.2.3. When opening a 5.5.1-Song it is converted from ASIO to Core Audio. But then I got a problem with spectrasonics Stylus RMX which I use as a drum-plugin. It was a VST-plugin in Logic 5.5.1 and is now the new Intel-nac-Version (audio-unit-plugin) in Logic 7.2.3. The MIDI-data is in the Logic-tracks but the problem is: the program doesn't use the new Stylus version automatically - there is only the outcrossed name "Stylus" in the Logic-channel. I have to activate it by hand - and then all the drum-channels within Stylus are empty. That means: I have to re-edit all the Stylus-drumsounds and -settings by hand.
What can I do to get real total recall? Or is simply not possible because I had too much change altogether (new OSX-platform / new Logic-version / new plugin-version)?
    Best regards,
    Thomas

    Thomas,
I'm pretty sure you're out of luck on this one, I'm afraid. The differences are to much to be able to translate from one to the other.
We all went through it when we switched from Mac OS9 to OSX. Then we all had to go through it again when Logic went to Audio Units.
If it was a matter of VST in OSX, you could probably open it up in Logic with Fxpansions VST to AU wrapper, but I don't think you'll bee able to get it from the PC VST version to the Mac OSX VST version.
You'll have to try and recreate the RMX settings by hand. Tedious, I know, especially if you had done a lot of editing.
Another option would be to open the song on your PC, and bounce the various RMX parts to audio files, and re-import those into Logic 7. I know that's not the same, but if you were done with the programming aspect of that song, it could at least get you the sounds back.
If anyone has information to the contrary, I'd love to hear about it. But this is how I understand it to be...
    Sorry.

  • Need help with Intel Mac mini... potential logic board failure...

Hey everyone! For the past couple years, I've been using an Intel Mac mini which I was able to afford before rough times hit for me. It has been a champ for a long time, until recently. In the past week, the clock would lose time ever so often, and last week, whenever I'd try to power it up in the morning (as I shut it down every night), it wouldn't start up most times (meaning, you hit the power, nothing... no LED, no fan, nothing on screen, nada). After a while, I would somehow manage to get it to start. I assumed at this point, the lithium battery (coin type CR2032, not the traditional 1/2 AA purple battery) was shot. Since I'm in the middle of a job transition, I was waiting until I had time to put in a new battery, which I was planning to do this weekend. Then Wednesday happened...
I go to start it, nothing... A week before this, I started losing time and sometimes it would not boot. I figured eventually I would be able to start it since I was able to sometimes get it to start after a half hour or more. That didn't happen. So I decided to go ahead and swap in the new battery. I do that, power it up, nothing. I reset the SMC (same as PMU on the PPC Macs), to no avail. I reseated the RAM, and did everything I could think of, but it's deader than Elvis. I also had took the power supply to a guy who had a voltimeter. He said voltage was getting to all pins.
I went back and read some of the archives on this board. Someone mentioned something about a repair exception. It mentioned that sometimes if you call AppleCare (even if you don't have it) and ask for a repair exception, sometimes they'll agree to have the logic board replaced due to it being a documented problem. How true is this and who should I contact?
Can anyone suggest anything here? If I can't revive the mini, I may have to drag my iMac back out and try to set it up to run OS X. I can't no where near afford another computer at this point. I'm praying the mini can be fixed. I would appreciate any and all suggestions!
    Thanks in advance!
    Tommy

It does sound like the logic board has gone bad. However, there are no current repair extension programs open on the Mac Minis.
This page lists the open extensions:
    http://www.apple.com/support/exchange_repair/
So that's not an option. I assume that the Mini doesn't have AppleCare (whoops.), so I would not count on Apple covering it, but it's always worth a shot. You can call AppleCare (1-800-275-2273) or visit your local Apple Store

  • Logic on intel mac ?

    Hello
now that we know there will be Intel Macs on sale in less than a year i was wondering if an intel version of Logic was in the work.
I would immediatly buy an intel powerbook, but not if Logic isn't released at the same time.
Adobe said Photoshop for intel mac would be released in the end of 2006/ beginning of 2007 . what about Logic ?
    thanks

Anything posted at this time would be considered rumour or speculation as there are no formal announcements from Apple. Remember that Apple said that there will be Intel based units.

  • Getting a new Intel Mac, Logic question

I currently run Logic Studio on my dual G4, which is finally starting to die on me. I am going to be getting one of the quad Mac Pros soon, and I wanted to make sure that my current Logic Studio will install on it. In other words, does the move to 10.5 and the intel mac mean I need a different version of the Studio disks, or will my current ones install and run without a problem?

Your Logic Studio disks (ie Logic Pro 8) will install fine on your new Mac Pro.
It is a Universal Binary installer which means it will look at you hardware and install the version appropriate for your chipset.

  • ? migrating from Logic 8 on Mac G5 to Logic 9.1 Mountain Lion on new Intel Mac

I'm migrating from a non-Intel Mac G5 PPC  with retail Logic Pro 7 installed and also the upgrade to Logic 8.
What is the best way to install Logic on my newly acquired July 2011 Quad-Core Mac Mini Server ( MMS ) ?
I have the original install disks for Logic Pro 7 retail and also the upgrade disks for Logic Studio 8 Upgrade Box retail.
Can I install Logic Pro 7 first onto the MMS and then install the Logic 8 disk and then install the Box set Logic Studio 9 upgrade ?

An important piece of information is required.
What version of OSX is on the 2011 Mac-Mini?
If it's Snow Leopard you're probably ok, if any version of Lion or ML is installed you're in for some work.
