Logic 7.1 + waves diamond disaster

i bought the waves diamond bundle some time ago and installed it today. ever since, logic has not loaded properly. it stops when it gets to "checking midi drivers". if i get lucky, and logic opens, logic won't quit properly. i tried uninstalling waves but logic still has the plugs in the audio units dropdown on the channel strip. does anyone know how i can delete EVERYTHING waves has installed on my machine. or, how can i install waves properly to work with my setup? tech support for waves won't be open until monday and i have sessions lined up. can't believe it!!! any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert on this but when I have wanted to remove plugins I type a few variations of the plugin's file name into spotlight and it normally brings up all the files and their location.
I then just delete the items from the provided location.

  • Audio Plugins - Waves Diamond Bundle - w/FCP?

I have just installed the WAVES Diamond Bundle in hopes of using it to clean up Audio in FCP. After install, I do NOT see them anywhere in FCP.
    -Should FCP recognize Waves plugins?
    -Should SoundTrack Pro?

    Lamont,
Sorry for the delay...I've been out of the country the last week.
My recollection is that the Waves Shell should match the plug version. For instance, v4 should be WavesShell_4...v5 plugs should be WavesShell_5. I don't have the latest...but I assume it is the same. There is also a variant to it related to the bundling. For instance, the Vocal Bundle requires the VocalWaveShellx.
All of these should coordinate, and can cause some problems if not. If you own version X...I believe you should be able to download the cooresponding package that will contain the Authorizers. From the cooresponding authorizer (Waves Authorizer 5 or Waves Vocal Authroizer, etc.) you should be able to install...this was regardless of your WUP status. WUP status used to relate to calling in for Tech Support or getting a discount when upgrading.
With all of that said...I do know they have changed their WUP policies in the last year. It would be very discouraging to me if they discontinue former product downloads based on that! Sorry I don't have more information. I'll look around.
I don't believe the 5.0.1 will break your iLok for v4 plugs... But to my knowledge, the version 5 waveshell only supports v5 plugs and will therefore not be of any use to you.
My recommendation would be to get the latest download package from the waves site (if possible) that corresponds to the package you own. This should not require additional iLok authorizing...but will update any plugs and the shell to their latest versions.
If you own v5 and v4... check your iLok to see if you have the v5 license either downloaded or installed, download the v5 Diamond package from waves. Archive all your current stuff...and then delete the relating v4 shells and plugs. Reinstall the v5 waveshell. You should be done.
If you don't see it in your iLok...I would contact waves support (thier support telephone number is listed on thier website). Tell them you have a licensing issues, I believe licensing issues are excluded from support aggreement. Once they help you get the license to your iLok...then follow the above steps.
Sorry for the rambling...hope that helps.

  • Installing Waves Diamond bundle - into Logic Pro 8

Help! i have logic pro 8 installed and have just gotten Waves plug-in. I have installed the Waves in the Applications folder, but cant seem to see where they are in Logic Pro 8 or if they are installed at all in logic??
    Any help appreciated!

There should be a Waveshell component in the *Library>Audio>Plug Ins>Components* folder.
But Waves comes with an installer, so everything should be where it should be. I jus installed 6.0.5 to try, and Logic finds over 94 new plugins. Maybe you should install again.
    What version is it?

  • Logic Express and Waves Plugins?

I have the waves gold bundle that i use with DP. Just got logic express to see if can make the swtich from DP. But all i really need is to be able to use my waves gold bundle. BUT I CANT. is this just becuase i am using LE? here is what happens...
WHen i go to prefs scan AU or whatever nothing from waves passes and forces auval to wig out and go crazy then no of them pass inspection. I can bypass this and still bring them up but they come up under the insert a imcopatible. AN INSIGHT>?
    THANKS

They work without problem even when they are in the incompatible folder, but if you want them in the compatible folder you have to download the latest update from WAVES.
The new plugs will pass the AU-Validation without problems.

  • Anybody else using Logic, Reason, and Waves SSL.... with this issue?

    got a major problem.
i got a session where it's mostly Logic Audio Inst and Reason Rewired Inst (going to individual Audio Inst tracks).
when i apply the Waves SSL EQ to a Rewired Inst under Live Mode (for Rewire Behavior), it works fine. but after adding a few more inst and plugz, 1 of the 4 processor (indicated in System Performance) maxes out. which is kind of f'd up because the other processors are almost hitting rock bottom.
so i go and change from Live Mode to Playback Mode. this way, the processor doesn't overload. the processors look like they're distributed more properly this way, tho there's always one that spikes higher than others.
problem is, when i go to Playback Mode, i get this weird bug. it actually sounds like a bug. seriously. it goes "blip blip bleeep, blip etc etc etc".
and the blips don't come in at a constant rate, it's at a random rate. but it's constantly there... does that make sense? in a way it sounds like a short bursts of feedback. very annoying, cuz you can hear it, and you can even see it on the fader meter of the Reason Inst. doesn't happen to all Reason Inst channels, in most cases just one.
the obvious work-around is to use a different EQ (other than Waves, cuz it'll do the same for Channel EQ as well). but this is just a band-aid, not really solving the problem.
    so the issues are:
-Waves SSL and Rewire doesn't behave nicely together under Playback Mode, and gets weird "blip" feedbacks
-Logic and Rewire doesn't behave nicely together under Live Mode, where it maxes out only 1 of the 4 processors.
this also happened back when i was using a G5 also, same Logic 7.2.3/Reason 3.0.5/Waves SSL 1.2.
anybody else encounter a similar problem? i can provide more info if necessary.
i even talked to Propellerheads, but they haven't gotten around to buy Waves SSL, so can't recreate the same problem despite of me sending them the session files....
    PLEASE HELP!!!

i even talked to Propellerheads, but they haven't gotten around to
buy Waves SSL, so can't recreate the same problem despite of me
    sending them the session files....
I'm sure they'll have an iLok to install the demo to. It won't behave any differently from the full version, as it's just a different license. Maybe they were just fobbing you off?
As a workaround until it's sorted, can you export all the audio from Reason as regular audio so you don't have to use Reason?

  • Final Cut Pro 5.1 and Waves Diamond Pack

I just went through opening up Final Cut Pro - it took approximately 35 minutes, and I had only one problem. A message comes up stating that "Could not instantiate Plug-ins" and it only appears for the Waves IR1. It got through everything else OK. Is there some way to bypass just the IR1 so FCP does not look for it each and every time? I am an audio person and I would like to use some of my audio plus to process the audio used in the picture.

    Here's Apple's official position: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303782
However, there are several people running most of the Studio Apps successfully ... except possibly Motion. With FCS2, chances are Color won't run either. You should be able to search here for similar postings; this topic comes up frequently.

  • Wav file DISASTER?

    Hi
I have re-imported my CD collection recently as wav files (this is for DJ'ing and back-up reasons).......everything imported fine.
HOWEVER........I upgraded to windows 7 and for some reason and now all the wav files are re-named 01'example tracktitle'.wav, 01'another track title'.wav etc etc..................
Everything has been moved to 'unknown artist folder'
This is a total joke, why has iTunes/Apple done this?
Can anything be done to sort it out?
I do not wish to change file types on import and do not wish to re-import the collection all over again.
    Cheers
    Joe
PS. if Apple could give me back my hours wasted that would be great.

If "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library" is unchecked then checking/unchecking "Keep iTunes media folder organized" is pretty much irrelevant.
    this is for DJ'ing

Something to think about is keeping the entire iTunes folder on on an external drive (with a complete copy on another drive as backup).
Then you can plug the external into any other computer and everything will be there.
If you want to keep the files on an external, you can keep the entire iTunes library there also.
Hold Shift, launch iTunes and select, Create library, then select a location on the external.
The entire iTunes library and all files will be on the external.
To back this up, simply copy the entire iTunes folder to another drive.
To use this library on anothercomputer, hold Shift, launch iTunes and select Choose library and select the iTunes folder on the external.
As long as the drive is connected, powered on and ready, it will use this location for everything.

  • 7.1 to 7.2 Logic and Pro Tools 7 disaster!!!

I just installed Pro Tools 7.1cs4 and worked on it last night with all of my plug-ins including NIK2, TLSpace, etc.. Today I tried running Logic 7.1 in DAE mode and crashed my computer. Now Logic crashes every time and ProTools lost all my NI instrumnents and the install of TLSpace. I know that I need 7.2 to run this properly (my copy is in the mail as we speak..) What do I have to do to get back and running? Where did my plug-ins in Pro Tools go?

AJ...I agree the see-saw act for the last two months has been more than annyoning.
The bad news is PT7.1cs4 and anything but Logic 7.2 won't play well together using CORE AUDIO (DIGI)/DAE/TDM.
The good news is that Logic 7.2 crossgrade and PT7.1cs4 do actually work] together. I know...I know $50 here...$50 there. But if you must run audio inside Logic...
Don't know about your situation...but you would be able to slave Logic 7.1 to PT7.1. This might not provide you with everything you need though. But it does work.

Check the sample rate and bitrate against what the iPod is able to play.

  • Getting rid of Waves Plugin Demos

I downloaded Waves Diamond demo and tried it out. It didn't float my boat and I let it expire. Now if I accidently click on the Waves demos, Logic crashes. I want to totally get rid of the plugin demos. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Go to /Library/Audio/Components/Plug-ins and drag all of the Waves items to the trash. Make sure you also remove the WaveShell-AU component (same directory). That will fix your Logic issue.
There will also be a Waves directory in your Applications folder; you can trash that too if you want to completely remove everything.

  • What are some good Plugin packages for Logic - must be Leopard Compatible

I'm new to Logic, heck, Mac in general. On my PeeCee I used Nuendo v.1 and had the Waves Diamond Bundle. I'm looking for something with comparable abilities that's Leopard compatible. Also, I really can't afford the Waves stuff at this point, price is a HUGE consideration for me.
I'm seriously considering going to Logic Studio (use Express right now) to gain the multitude of instruments and Plugins. In your experience, are the plugins included in Logic Studio good enough that I'd get what I need using them and not have to find another package (for the time being at least)?
Thanks in advance for your help!

There aren't any classes in the API to do that, but there are 3rd party libraries that can do that. Just google.

  • Compatible Plug-ins for Logic Pro X?

    Hello Apple Community,
I am new to Logic Pro X, I am coming from Pro Tools. The only reason why I have purchased Logic Pro is for composing music. I love Pro Tools only for recording audio, mixing, and mastering. I was wondering if anyone knew if the following Plug-in companies are compatible with Logic Pro X. Waves, iZotope, Native Instruments Komplete 9, Universal Audio (UAD).
If these are not compatible, if you could let me know what plug-in companies are it would be very much appreciated.
         Thanks!

They all make OS X compatible plugins. Logic uses the AU (Audio Unit) format, so VST plugins won't work. For UAD I believe you need extra hardware.

  • Audio levels in logic

Why is the recording level in Logic way lower then my preamp? If I send a signal into my analog preamp, it's way lower in logic and the wave for is way lower too.

    Hi Tegtours
The Apogee interfaces have the ability to be calibrated to different operating levels. So it could be a case of re-calibrating or at least resetting to the "factory" conditions.
The 1272 will probably have been racked by an independent tech, so that's a bit of a wild card in terms of how it's wired and Dan Alexander say's it' a line amp, I'll defer to him as he's a Neve expert.
    +WHAT IS A NEVE 1272?+
+A 1272 is a line amp/summing buss amp from the circa 1970-76 era of neve consoles, such as 8048,8014,8016,and bcm10 portable consoles.+
+A 1272 is not a mic pre, nor was it ever used by neve as such.+
+However, when asked what he thought about people rewiring the 1272 as a mic pre, Ruperts' answer was" why not? It's all the same stuff in there".+
+Inside of a 1272, one finds an input transformer, a line amp card, and an output transformer.+
+Some enterprising techno gentlemen rewire these components and with the addition of appropriate volume and gain switches, build a preamp that emulates that found in a 1073( or other class a) input module.+
+The only problem occurs when one attempts to get much over 50 db of gain, which is accomplished in a 1073 by the insertion of an additional amp card. When wringing that extra gain out of one amp card, one encounters frequency response and distortion anomalies. However, assuming that the wiring is done properly, a1272 can be made into a mic pre that exactly emulates the classic neve class a preamp 1073/1064/1066/1089/1084 type of circuit and of course , done right, that sounds wonderful....+
    http://www.danalexanderaudio.com/neverap.html
If you've purchased a 1272 ( modified to be a mic amp ) from a reputable tech, I'm sure they'll be happy to show you how to interface it correctly.
Which output are you using from the P2 and what kind of cabling ?

  • DR for a logical standby

    Friends,
    Oracle version 10.2.0.4:
On the primary site, we have one non-rac primary database P1. We will create a logical standby (L1) on primary site to be used for reporting. This logical standby L1 will have its own additional indexes and materialized views.
On the Disaster recovery site, which is at a remote location, a physical standby P2 will protect the primary database P1. What should be done such that the logical database L2 on the disaster recovery site remains in sync with L1? Also, if we were to lose the primary site, what should be done such that L2 gets fed by P2 after P2 takes over as primary?
    Is such a configuration possible?
    thanks for any thoughts.

    Hi,
If you setup a physical standby L2, which will be sync with L1 this will be a cascaded configuration.
    P1 --> L1 (logical) --> L2 (physical)
But this configuration is not supported. (It used to be, but not now... ) From my blog post about cascade standby databases: (http://emrebaransel.blogspot.com/2010/08/dataguard-cascade-standby-database.html)
The Layer1 standby database cannot be a logical standby where Layer2 can be. (Oracle mentions about Layer1 logical standby configuration on 10gR2 doc, and indicates that a Layer1 logical standby will generate and transmit redo information which won’t be identical with the one between primary and Layer1 standby. As a result "Layer2 physical standby databases created from a logical standby database will be a block-for-block copy of the logical standby database and a logical copy of the original primary database.”
But it is indicated that information in Metalink bulletin 409013.1 replaces Appendix E Cascaded Destinations, of Oracle Data Guard Concepts and Administration 10g Release 2 document. Metalink bulletin 409013.1 and 11gR1 doc says that “A logical standby database cannot forward redo to another standby database” and specifies that Layer1 logical standby configuration is not supported.
A logical standby database cannot forward redo to another standby database
At the end, this means you're not able to keep a copy of L1 logical standby.
    But you can have this:
    P1 --> P2 (physical) --> L2 (logical)
L2 will be sync with primary (P1). In a case of disaster it will still be sync with new primary (P2). But you need to maintain its own additional indexes and materialized views.

  • Converting aiff to caf for use with the logic loop browzer

I've got a bunch of new loops. I would like to batch convert the to caf, and use them in the loop browser. Any know if this is possible????
    Thanks,
    CB

you don't need to convert as .caf
Logic support .aif .wav .sd2 loops and also .caf!
No conversion is required... if they are not already apple loop compatible you need to use Apple Loop Utility to add the Logic tags
