Logic 7.2 doesn't run on MacBook Pro - crash report
Hello everybody,
freshly installed Logic 7.2 over my existing old Logic 7.1.1 and now it does not work. This is the error I am getting..reinstalling from scratch didn't help..I am stuck with this now.
Here is the crashreport log:
Host Name: MacBook-computer

Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ProKit.framework/Versions/A/ProKit: mach-o, but wrong architecture
Please help me, this does not feel good especially after having purchased an upgrade like this one.
Did a clean fresh Hard disk wipe-out and OS re-installation.
Everything works now! And I must say Logic seems to be running on one of the G5s I've been working on for months..smooth, fast and crisp either in the audio engine operation and the interface (EQ analyzers etc.). Love it I also have to add that I did not have any crash or problem with it so far. I think this is pretty important to underline since I've read people complaining about 7.2 stability. So far so good here.
What happened was that I installed Application Support 3.1 before installing Logic 7.2 (that was done automatically by Logic 7.0 or 7.1).
DO NOT INSTALL APPLICATION SUPPORT, ANY VERSION, ON INTEL MAC PLATFORMS!
Which means, in Logic terms: never install any version older than 7.2.
Thanks guys, lots of hugs I am now back to work

MacBook Pro crash report - endless loop
Hi,
several weeks ago i found my Macbook getting slower and slower. Surfing is a mess with some tabs open and i only can dream about to work multitasking-like.
Sometimes i have to wait around 30secs after just one click, for example, changing the tab, open finder or folders...and so on.
OK, i "only" got 4gb RAM and depending of what i do, there is around 200mb ram free and around 1.28gb inactive (that's what the app "memory clean" is saying. But that wasn't a problem before.
Anyway, i searched for processes causing the cpu to slow down and i saw that there is a crash report generating every 10 sec.
So i went to the console and found this one:

Help: MacBook Pro crashes / report attached
Hi, my mac book pro crashes about once a day in the past couple of weeks. I run lots of programs on it and haven't found and correlation. The last two times, it happends while I was on skype but it is not always the case. It's getting very frustrating since I had moved from Windows to Mac this year partly because I believed Mac's were more stable. Here's the last crash log, if anyone can help dechipher this and potentially pinpoint a problem, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm open to any suggestions on how to go about resolving this... I did upgrade my harddrive and memory about 1 month ago (don't know how to check if I have a memory problem and I don't remeber if this started happending before or after I installed the memory)

com.apple.iokit.IOACPIFamily 1.3.0Hi Jay, I'm using 10.6.8. I might try to upgrade to 10.7 when it's available. I used my computer extensively (outlook for work, mail for personal mail, vm for work, spotify, lightroom, finalcut pro, chrome, juniper vpn and skype) sometimes all programs are running but most of the time it's a subset. Since the crash is random, it's hard to reproduce and correlate to a specific program. So the log file didn't point to anything obvious?
Thanks. -
Macbook Pro crashes when running on battery
Hi.
My Macbook Pro crashes when running in battery. It seems it doesn't happen when connected to the power.
Is there any way to know if it's a battery malfunction?
Because Apple changed the motherboard a month ago or so because Nvidia broke. So it could be also the connector to the battery?
Is there any tests I can run?
ThanksI would take it back to Apple and have them check it. You may have got a replacement logic board with a problem. Apple usually use rebuilt ones.

I am running a MacBook Pro with 10.7.5 and I downloaded the OS X 10.10.2 Update Combo.
When I try and open the package after accepting the lincence-agreement and upon choosing the install-volume the error message appears: "This volume is used for TimeMachine-backups".
Which is not true. I´m using a timecapsule for backups.
How can I proceed?I am using a MacBook Pro (2010) with 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB, 1067 MHz, DDR3, Startvolume Macintosh HD.
After downloading the package and starting upgrading it asks acceptance of the license-agreement. After that it asks for the volume were to install. And when I click on the Startvolume Macintosh HD (which is the only available on the machine) it says: "The volume is already being used for Time Machine-Backups".
It doesn´t offer to skip that point or to reconfigure the Time Machine settings.
The point is that my Time machine is not and has never used the Mac HD for Backups. In the past I have used an external drive and since 05/2014 I am using a Time Capsule which is appropriately addressed in the Time Machine settings. -
Cinema Display (clear) with DVI/ADC box doesn't work with MacBook Pro
Cinema Display (clear) with DVI/ADC box doesn't work with MacBook Pro when plugged in with a dvi to mini dvi cable. Any ideas what to do to make it work? I lugged the 23" 2500 miles into the wilderness and I need help
Okay, here's an update: the DVI to ADC adapter does work with the Apple displays that I have tried, but it won't work with the Formac. I have tried multiple time to contact them, but to no avail... they don't even respond to threats of posting my opinion of them, which is this:
DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM FORMAC! They make quality products, but their customer service is a big time joke! They won't take care of you. -
Can I run my MacBook Pro Late 2008 without battery forever? Is it bad in long term or anything? Does it make the system less stable?
My battery got swollen (and I unfortunately noticed it very late and might have be running with it for months, which potentially explains all the crashes everyday and the trackpad not working anymore, the Apple test also says I have a bar of ram broken...) and I had to remove it because the back pannel did not close anymore... Can I still use my MBP normally forever that way? I was planning on buying a new mac anyway but maybe waiting for the next iMac upgrade in the year... Should I wait?Other than the system shutting down instantly if you have a power outage, whcih could corrupt the OS. Nothing else bad will happen.

my hard drive crashed on my MacBook Pro crashed and I need to get my CS5 up and running on the new hard drive. I copied what I could onto an external hard drive but when I drag and drop I get directions to uninstall but the uninstall folder I have does says it is an alias that is no longer present. I get error 6. I would like to get my software up and running on the laptop again please
If you subscribed to iTunes match the songs are kept in icloud. If you didn't but you did save the actual iTunes library folder which should include the music, video, etc. you should be able to just drag this file back to your machine in the same place and when you open iTunes it will give you a chance to identify the iTunes library folder.
You can test this to find out if you saved the media files or not and don't need to attach your nano to do it.
You are correct that once you connect the nano it will clear the existing files from it and sync it with the new iTunes library.
If you don't have the media files i'm not sure if/how to get them back on a windows ipod. I have everything backed up regularly because of the horror stories I have seen & heard. -

Illustrator CC 17.1.0 running on MacBook Pro i7 OSX 10.9.5 - crashes when editing preferences, user interface. Also crashes when quitting application. Anybody any ideas?
While 2 GB is the absolute minimum to install Mavericks, if you want to do anything with the Mac you need more then that. Upgrade your RAM.
Until you upgrade the RAM seriously consider shutting down the Mac nightly. You should also seriously review the items in the User Login Items to see if there are any there that you really don't need to have startup with your login to reduce the amount of RAM you are using. -
While running on battery, MacBook Pro crashes after a few minutes of use.
While running on battery, my MacBook Pro crashes (shuts down) after a few minutes (less than 10) of use. Battery indicator still says I have enough power (more than 75%) so it can't be related to the other reported issues with low battery crashes.
While on power adaptor, I don't have any issues.
I checked battery condition as suggested in all the forum threads I can find and its fine.
Running Lion 10.7.2PRAM reset did not resolve the issue

Why is my MacBook Pro **crashing** changing to a blue screen with lines or distorted screen when I open logic or Ableton Live. Then I have to restart by long pressing the power button. Can somebody plz help me
What you describe sounds like a hardware issue. Unfortunately, you'll need to get that checked out by Apple. If you have an Apple Store near you, make an appointment with the Genius Bar and take the machine in for evaluation.

When my Mac battery dies and I turn it back on, it always crashes on the grey screen with the progress bar, then it restarts (taking forever) and does not remember any of the programs I was running. MacBook Pro 13 inch running Mavericks

My macbook pro crashed and the hard drive was replaced. How do I restore my backup pre- 9.6 iphoto library to the 9.6.1 iphoto library? They look completely different. When I look at my backed-up iphoto library folder I see lots of files and folders: ALbumData.xml, Attachments folder, etc. The 9.6.1 iphoto library doesn't appear to be a folder at all. Help!
iPhoto 6 and earlier libraries were regular folders with the kind of files your reporting. With the advent of iPhoto 7 the library folder was changed to a package similar to the application packages but have essentially the same files and folders inside. There's no reason to have access to the inside of the iPhoto Library so Apple changed them to packages.
Do you have a backup copy of the iPhoto Library from before the HD crash. If so restore it to the Pictures folder in your Home folder. If you previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 or earlier download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before trying to open it with iPhoto 9.6.1. -
My macbook pro crashes constantly
Okay, so here's the deal:
My macbook pro crashes constantly and it seems to be getting worse.
It's a macbook pro mid 2010 purchase with a 2.66 i7 4gigs ddr3 288mb intel hd graphics running OS X 10.8.5.
The problem occurs in numerous different circumstances. In every case it will cause the screep to go black, crash, restart itself, and give me a message saying it restarted due to an error. After that it will be, seemingly, fine, until I run into another of the myriad instances when it will crash. It's very easy to duplicate so if posting the error message will help I can definitely do that. Here is a list of occasions that the crash currently occurs:
About 20 seconds after opening photobooth.
Sometimes, but not always, after opening iPhoto.
Netflix, whenever I try to watch something instantly.
Trying to update to OS X Maverick.
Certain types of ads on sites that use video seem cause it.
Tried to install Starcraft 2 one time and it doesn't seem to like that either.
Firefox likes to crash about twice as frequently as Safari for some reason.
Honestly, there are probably others, but I just avoid certain programs now because it's such a pain. Here's one. There's a 3 year time limit? This has only started occuring within the last 7 - 8 months.
