Logic 7 with Digi 001

Hi all, first time in this forum. I am using a QS g4 on 10.3.5 with a digi 001, apogee rosetta and a SwisSonic lightpipe to analog i/o. I am able to easily achieve 18 in & 18 out with this setup using pro tools LE 6.4 and digidesign core audio setup 6.4.
Again, 18 I/O is no problem using pro tools, but logic will only recognize 12. I'm nervous about updating the OS and the Core audio, since everything is super stable, but if someone tells me that this is the fix I will.
Quicktime is version 6.5.1. I'm not sure if that's pertinent, but why not include it.
Thank you for any advice in advance!

Just test it on a copy of your system (another hard drive). It probably will only make things worse-soon enough you'll realize you are in th market for another audio card. If it is because of Digi's audio driver you get 12 then I don't even think they updated the 001 after that release, or? If it is then odds are even further against you. I'd just say, take an hour and test it out.

  • Logic Gold 5.5.1 and Digi 001

After formatting my computer, logic and digi 001 wont communicate in OSX anymore. I have installed both OS 9 and OSX, and in OS 9 it work fine. But when i try to launch Logic (5.5.1) in OSX i get this error message: Error code 28519 was returned buy the core audio driver...
The Core audiodriver is installed in Library/audio/plugins/HAL! But i have no clue about SystemInit and Direct I/O (versions or were to put the files on the computer.
I have also tried with and without the Protools software installed but that did´nt work either.
PLEASE someone, help me. I have tried and tried but nothing seems to work. Before the formatting everything worked fine, but not anymore...
    What´s wrong?

    Hi,
Why exactly did you format your computer?
Did Logic Gold 5.5.1 work on you OSX BEFORE you reformatted?
What changed from before your format to after (any driver versions changed/automatic updates?)
Remember,Digidesign does NOT support Digi001 anymore,so which Audio driver(DAE/CoreAudio) did you use before you reformatted?
    From Digidesign's website Answerbase:
Core Audio error 28519 when trying to use the Digidesign Core Audio driver in a third party application (Logic, Reason, etc.).
This error can have several different causes. Some things to check:
    1. Is another application using the core audio driver, such as the Sound control panel in your System Preferences panel? If so, you'll need to quit that application or switch your Sound control panel back to built in hardware. Keep in mind the Digidesign core audio driver is single client - only one application can be using the hardware at any time.
    2. Is your Digidesign hardware turned on and powered up? You may try turning off and turning back on the hardware and restarting your application.
Also see Answerbase #27816 for other possibilities specific to Emagic Logic:
Getting an error message -28519 in Logic Audio 6.3. when changing to Digidesign hardware for the CoreAudio output.
These errors can be caused by two plugins that are installed when updating Emagic's Logic to version 6.3.1
Removing these two plugins from the plugins folder may solve the issue.
The plugins folder is located in the
    MacHD / Library / ApplicationSupport / Digidesign / Plugins
    Remove
    - ESB TDM OSX
    - ESX 24 TDM OSX
If these plug-ins are installed, when launching Pro Tools, you will get an error message: When attempting to launch you get either: "- 6003 Emagic system bridge error"
or "- 6003 error while initializing TDM host streams." (see Abase # 27414). Remove the plug-ins above to solve this problem.
Without knowing why you reformatted,it is harder to help.
I hope the Digidesign Answerbase messages help you out.
    Cheers,
    Nick

  • Digi 001 and dual g4 1ghz

I'm trying to change my system over from a quicksilver 733mhz to a dual 1ghz machine. While running pro tools on the dual machine I keep getting a dae error -6045 anyone have any knowledge about this? I'm running pro tools 6.4 as I don't know if 6.9 will work with digi 001
    thanx

Well, you would probably have more luck going on the Digidesign forum...
My experiences with DAE errors and Protools usually have to do with the installation. Did you install Protools LE 6.4 as a clean copy or did you copy it from another computer? Also, installing a clean copy of Protools off of the disk installs drivers for the Digi or Mbox to function...if you didn't go through the full installation process then your Digi won't work. You can't just plug it in...Protools LE requires that you have a Digidesign Protools Interface (Such as an Mbox or Digi) +in order to even run Protools+. If the Digi 001 isn't correctly installed, that would probably explain your error messages.
Also what OS are you running? And I am pretty sure 6.9 will work with the digi 001, since I know Protools 7 supports all Digi and Mbox interfaces. I've got protools 7 so I can't give you specific information just off the top of my head... If you have a copy of 6.9 then try installing it and see if it works. After the installation the Digi 001 and Protools should be fully operational.
After reading your post again, are you trying to copy all of your info off of your original HD on the 733 over to the dual 1 Ghz machine? If that's the case then that would explain the problem...you must install a clean version of Protools LE in order to install the drivers for the Digi 001. Without the Digi, protools won't run.

  • Tiger 10.4.6 + Logic 7.2 + digi 001 no worky...HELP!!

    hi there,
so i received updates last night and installed.
    - tiger 10.4.6
    - logic 7.2
    - g4 dual 1.25 ghz with 1.25 ram
so i've been using my digi 001 as my soundcard, running coreaudio. after installing everything last night, the 001 was not being seen by the version of coreaudio i had, think it was 6.4. so i upgraded that to coreaudio 7.0. still no luck with the 001. read on a thread this morning that coreaudio 7.0 doesn't support the 001. ah, yet another notch in my 'i hate digidesign' belt.
so, in this thread it said coreaudio 6.9.2 worked with the 001 AND tiger. so i trashed coreaudio 7.0 and grabbed 6.9. installed, and when firing it up, it at least recognizes the 001, but says it's in use, though i see nothing else open. any thoughts here?
    another item:
i use a hd24 to track all my live audio and use logic primarily for mixing and virtual instruments. i could get by without the 001, what sound cards would you folks recommend? and they don't even have to have audio in capabilities.
    thanks! hope someone can help!
    andrew

ah, david, you're the post i saw earlier! yay! ok, so i do always fire up coreaudio first. usually it's all systems go, but last night/today, no dice. i just completely shut down and rebooted. only think i've fired up is coreaudio, it says:
    digidesign hw: digi 001
status: not connected (hw in use)
and the hw setup button is not active. i did open up the audio/midi utility and the 001 is there and have it selected as my defaults.
    what do you suggest?
    THANKS!

  • Digi 001 Core Audio Manager and Logic 7.1

I just upgraded to Pro 7.1 from logic 5.5.1. When I would start up 5.1.1 it would automaticly startup the coreaudio manager for the Digi. I've noticed now using 7.1 that I have to start the Digi Core Audio Manager before starting up Logic Pro or it will not recognize the Digi at all, and will remove the digi as a sound card selection. Does anyone else experience this same issue? Is it normal? I read into the logic help and it said with a TDM or HD digi hardware this would be necessary. I'm confused help would be appreciated.

Yes, this is normal when using Logic Pro 7.1 and Digi Coreaudio version 6.4. They seem to have fixed this in more recent versions of the coreaudio manager, but 6.4 is the last revision supported by the Digi 001.

  • Logic with a digi interface

Hello I just bought a logic studio 8. I have a Question, I was reading that some people use a digi 002 working with logic 8, I wonder if a digi 002 or a digi 003 works sincronized with all the motorized faders, gains, knobs and the little screen?
    somebody use that interfases?
    Paul.

I just got an email this morning from Digidesign. They indicated that their hardware will not interface with Logic. Digi is only designed to interface with Pro Tools.
I have the same problem. I have been using Pro Tools LE with a 002 surface controller. Now I have Logic 8 and have to get a different controller. I am looking at the Mackie Universal Pro or Euphonix MC.
    Good luck.

  • Is Logic Pro X compatible with Digi 002?

Is Logic Pro X compatible with Digi 002?

It s a problem for me to upgrade from my  late 2007 macbook Core2Duo 2,16ghz system running snow leopard and protools 7.4.2 through digi 002 rack, Command 8 and emagic Unitor 8mk2, to my new  macbook pro i5 2,5ghz...
I chose this MBP cos it has both firewire and thunderbolt BUT... people told me digi 002 would only work as a 16 input channels. No way to  use the ADAT inputs from the digi... And to me it s the most important thing : i need the extra 8 inputs and mainly use the digital mixer convertors instead of the digi 002 convertors. So haow about you?  does the adat work properly ?
Another problem : command 8 seems not to be supported either.
so before buying logic pro x , i need to know if it s gonna work normally and completly : spdif, adat and analog input, midi /i/o AND  command 8 integration.
I m not sure it might work either on Avid software  ( a shame !!)
I m ok to work again with logic after my 7 years using only protools IF i dont have to buy another audio interface and another  midi controller...
here is the link for the last driver :
    http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/download/Digi-002-003-Drivers
here is a link for the command 8 drive rfor those who are lucky enough to have a protools 10
    http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/download/en379411
How is it possible that an "upgrade"  finally results is a downgrade, as my new system cant match with  the old one...
Unitor 8mk2 is perfectly working on 10.8.5 hop eit will work on 10.10 either...

  • Digi 001 with FCE 3..do they go?

    Hey Gurus!
I have a Digi 001 which I'd like to use to monitor my audio in FCE 3 as I have powered monitors connected up.
It works fine for iTunes, but i can't get it to work for FCE. I looked for some audio output settings in the programme but no joy.
In the Mac's system preferences>Sound, the Digi 001 is the selected audio device, and like I said iTunes, Peak and ProTools ( kinda obviously) all work with the 001.
    Any tips gratefully accepted.
    pete

A common problem, unfortunately I don't have a definitive answer. I use Protools 6.4, core audio driver 6.4 (downloaded separately), Digi 002R, as well as FCE 1.0.1. One issue that I've found is that the core audio driver is not a multi app driver. so once launched with an app, you need to re start only launching FCE. Is that the for FCE 3? Not sure. I would try putting the audio core driver in the dock and launching FCE, you should see it kick in by making sure the arrow is on next to the core driver. Be sure you turn on you Protools hardware first of course.
Hope this was helpful to some degree,

  • Can i control surface logic 9 with digi 002 mixer? on snow leopard 10.6.8

Hi I'm trying to connect my digi002 mixer to use it as a control surface with logic 9, is there anyway of doing this?
I have an RME Hammerfall DSP Multiface II, that I'm using as my main sound card, but would like to light it with the 002 and use the 002 converters as well, so that in total i get 16 channels I/O + if I could get control surface of logic with the 002 would be great.....
I heard about the Multi-Client CoreAudio Driver, but not 100% sure if and how it works to control surface logic with 002.
    Anyone???
    Help please....
    Thx...

I assume you have working installer discs? If so here's a suggestion:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc.  Insert the disc into the
optical drive and restart the computer.  After the chime press and hold down the
"C" key.  Release the key when you see a small spinning gear appear below the
             dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, set the format type to Mac
OS Extended (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Partition button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.

Mainstage 2 : The poeples who buy complete version of Logic with Mainstage 2 will not have free update of Mainstage ??? This is outragous !!!

I also agree that the paid update is a sham to those who bought the full boxed set of Logic.  The ONLY reason I bought the boxed version of Logic was to get MainStage....I don't use anything else in that package.  So ultimately, I've paid hundreds of dollars for a product that's now selling for $30 and I don't even get a free update.....sheesh!
As far as this logic goes: " MS 2.2 is a feature release" and that I "never bought that version of MainStage with the Logic Studio box": bollocks!  Many consider a feature release to be more than a .1 incremental update...OSX versions excluded.  With the exception of major OSX updates, I've never experienced being charged money for a .1 incremental update, and the vast majority of software developers have a policy that incremental updates are free until a new version is released i.e. v.2.5.6 to v3.0.  I'm sure that's not always the case, but it's definitely the case in an overwhelming majority of cases.
Shame on Apple for this price gouge.

  • Hostname starts with digit

    Hi,
I tried to configure a web server for a host having name starts by digit.
when I try to start it, I have this error:
    ./startserv
    config: CONF1104: File /webServer7/https-10xxxx/config/server.xml line 10: Invalid <local-host> value: 10xxxx
it seems that web server 7 doesn't support hostname which begins with digit.
where can I find this information? in which document ( or references ..) can I find restrictions applied by web server on host name?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    thanks for your response,
in fact in RFC 1912 http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1912.html we have:
Allowable characters in a label for a host name are only ASCII
letters, digits, and the `-' character. Labels may not be all
numbers, but may have a leading digit (e.g., 3com.com). Labels must
end and begin only with a letter or digit. See [RFC 1035] and [RFC
1123]. (Labels were initially restricted in [RFC 1035] to start with
a letter, and some older hosts still reportedly have problems with
the relaxation in [RFC 1123].) Note there are some Internet
hostnames which violate this rule (411.org, 1776.com). The presence
of underscores in a label is allowed in [RFC 1033], except [RFC 1033]
is informational only and was not defining a standard. There is at
least one popular TCP/IP implementation which currently refuses to
talk to hosts named with underscores in them. It must be noted that
the language in [1035] is such that these rules are voluntary -- they
are there for those who wish to minimize problems.
but it seems that Sun Server applies RFC 1035.
    In this RFC we have:
The labels must follow the rules for ARPANET host names. They must
start with a letter, end with a letter or digit, and have as interior
characters only letters, digits, and hyphen. There are also some
restrictions on the length. Labels must be 63 characters or less.
I'm not sure on this, as I didn't find this information anywhere .
    -Regards

  • GB vs. Logic with respect to overall sound quality

Are there any technical differences between GB 9 and Logic with respect to the format that sound files are stored in, that would affect sound quality? I know that on the 'best' setting in GB, sound files are stored at 24 bits--is this the same in Logic? Also, is there any ability to dither from 24 bits to 16, in either GB or Logic?

    Meatyard wrote:
Thanks, this is hugely helpful. Would be good to know what kind of dithering algorithm GB uses and if it's as good as Logic's.
I don’t believe GB uses the POW-r algorithm.
When POW-r first came out, it was hardware only - several thousand dollars for a dedicated POW-r box. Then it was available in software, and then other companies could license it.
Because it's licensed tech, Apple pays for and markets its inclusion in Logic, but I'm not sure what would motivate them to include it in GB. Apple has its own in-house dithering algorithms that wouldn't cost them anything to include, and I would imagine the number of GB users who know what POW-r or any kind of dithering is, or care about the different flavors, is exceedingly small.
Given that GB is included in every new Mac, including POW-r for each and every one would be a substantial license for something almost none of the users would know or care about.

If you want to use an external harddrive and a firewire interface you'll run out of firewire busses even with expresscard adapter and the saffire really doesnt like to be daisychained. And when I had the Liquid Mix, never really used is as a control surface didnt really find it better over using a mouse. And even though its takes processing load of the cpu it still caused other problems and made the system less stable. This was on Logic 8 and the drivers they had for it about 2 years ago though so dont know if its better now.
But did you like the sound of the liquid mix's DSP plug ins or not?, i am not interesting in using it as a surface board, i doubt that is what people buy it for, the built on DSP is what i am curious about,
As for the Saffire products i know the older models like the Pro 10 and Pro 26 i/os do not have any on board DSP processing like the liquid mix but Focusrite claims that the quality is alike their Green Channels, hows do or did they sound to you guys?

  • Using Logic with virtual guitarist

I'm trying to use logic with virtual guitarist. Do you use this as an instrument or midi? When I use it as an instrument virtual guitarist does not follow logic tempo. And when I use it as a midi track I can not play it since virtual guitarist is not a hardware. Any sugestions?

VG is a virtual instrument. If you want to use it within Logic, you need to convert the .vst into an AU (Audio Unit) so Logic can see and use it as .vst isn't supported anymore in OS X.
The .vst to AU conversion is best done via the VST-AU Wrapper application, available from the http://www.fxpansion.com website or your local dealer. No, I don't work for them, but I use the wrapper extensively for older .vst instruments in Logic.
If you need more detail information about this (and Virtual Guitarist in particular), you may want to check the VG forum here : http://bornemark.se/forum/viewforum.php?f=4&sid=a4bd0b1112e9d381261c09d8160fc1f7
