Logic 8.0.2 Copy/Paste Audio Configuration BROKEN

Logic 8.0.2 Copy/Paste Configuration BROKEN
When using the Copy/Paste Audio Configuration function of the mixer in Logic Pro 8.0.2 NONE of the plugin parameters are pasted into the new project... The plugins themselves are copied but NOT the settings....

Why do I bother with logic 8 again?
It's really sad guys like you and me have to keep asking ourselves this question, but it has to be asked every time we uncover yet another useful and necessary function that got broken with the release of version 8.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... I don't mind waiting out while Apple sorts through this very much .0 release of Logic, but it would do a lot to calm the professionals dissent if we could have conversations with the developers, letting them see first hand why some things are imperative to using Logic in the "real" world of audio.
The "tight lipped" approach is doing nothing but losing long time users.

  • Copy/Paste Audio Configuration doesn't work for me. What am I doing wrong?

I've read all the other threads on this topic. Some say you have to save before you copy, etc., but nothing works for me. I open up a Logic song that has various Audio tracks, Aux tracks, and VI tracks. I open the Mixer and select Copy Audio Configuration. I close the project file, open up a new blank file, open the Mixer and hit Paste Audio Configuration. The only thing that happens is a single empty track gets pasted, that's it. This couldn't be broken in 8.01 AND 8.02, could it? Tell me I'm doing something wrong, please.

    Hi,
if you want to copy the actual channel strips, you need to go to the Environment window, select them, press copy, and paste them into the Environment window of the other song.
Audio configuration doesn't equal channel strips, but refers to how these channel stripes are configured (eg. which plugins they use).
Or you could create the audio objects (channel strips) you need to use in the new song manually, and then copy the audio configuration, because then that copy/paste process would have some objects to paste the configuration into.
You could probably even create the audio objects after you have pasted over the configuration, but I haven't checked if this works.

  • "Out Of Memory" message when trying to paste Audio Configuration (Logic 9)

    Hello
The song I want to copy Audio Configuration from is quite large, it contains the whole album actually. I suppose that if I truncated it I could get the copying done, but isn't there a way to increse memory allocated to Logic instead ? Or are 16 GB RAM not enough ?
    Thanks for any info

I truncated the source song to make it simple and I still get the Out of Memory message. No other app is running except RME's TotalMix & FireFace USB. Is there any other solution than copying all channel strip settings one by one ?
Is it any different in Logic X ?

  • Exactly how to copy/paste audio?

I see in the manuals and lessons that you can copy audio from a video clip and use it elsewhere.
What I'm stuck on is EXACTLY how you copy audio (without the video it is with). I have "extracted" the audio in the clip from which I want to take the audio and identified which bit of it I want.
I see from the manual how to copy video, by placing cursor just under the play head and dragging. But this brings with it the video, so when I paste I get the audio I want together with the unwanted video which barges out of the way the clip into whcih I want to drop the audio only.
I am sure I'm missing something simple, but I can ony find guidance on copy video, not audio, althought he lessons lightly say you can do it, they don't say how.
    Anyone can help?
    TIA

    Answered my own question.
You select by positioning the "audio playhead" in the audio clip in question, dragging it and pressing Coomand-C to copy the audio clip. (I'm guessing this is obvious to Mac users but it's not clear to this pc refugee how to "select" - in fact it's taken days to get to the bottom of this.
Then position the playhead where you want the audio clip and Edit-Paste, then trim teh excess to get the bits you don't want.
Actually less intuitive and user friendly than I would have expected, but well, there is it.

  • Copy / Paste Audio track not functional?

I have Quicktime 7 with the MPEG option. I can open mpeg-2 video files and edit them. I can open mpeg audio files but I can not edit them.
How do I take an Mpeg audio track and add it to an Mpeg video track?
I tried to folow the instructions here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=QuickTime%20Player/7.0/en/c3qt7.htm l
However, at step 2 where it states "Edit * Copy", the option is not available. I can madly click all I want on the greyed option but it doesn't copy the audio track.

Adrian. I apologize for the bum advice. I bounce back between the Mac and Windows pages and sometimes fail to notice where I am.
The MPEG editing features are the same for both the Mac and PC versions. QuickTime can't edit muxed track files. It never could.
There are some known issues (Mac side anyway) about AC3 audio. The third party codec isn't properly supported by QuickTime 7.0.2.
There is probably a PC software that works similar to MPEG Streamclip.

  • Copy & Pasting Audio Problem

    Hi Ya'll,
Every time I try to copy from one location, i.e the end of my project, and paste it to another, i.e. the front of my project, the darn computer will not paste it where I want! It just pastes it at the same location where I copied it from even though I move the play head to the top of my project!
Is anybody else having this problem? Can anyone help me!!!!!

  • Audio Configuration Broken

This has happened to me on a couple of occasions now.
I've had a channel strip open and have been loading in channel strip presets in the "World" catagory when the program shows up a message stating that the "audio configuration is broken".
When clicking on it to clear the warning it re appears a couple of times then clears.
If I've saved that song, whenever I re open it I keep getting the same warning.
I've no idea what's actually happening here, is there anyone who's experienced the same thing who can tell me what's happening, why it's happening and if there is anything I can do to cure it?

Sometimes Instrument tracks and Plug Ins can get corrupted. The only cure is to delete the broken track if you´re able to trace it down. But even than this message can be an indicator that the whole project is corrupt.
This seems to be happening way too much with Logic.
I almost lost a project a couple of weeks ago and had to spend a few hours getting it set up again. I was using only Logic plugin/efx plus Albino.
    Time for a feedback report.

  • Copy/pasting audio regions between different tempo projects

hi, ran into a strange problem when working on a film voiceover...
did the recording the other week for a new language version. when done i converted the takes to 48khz as that's the rate in the original logic file. edited together the new, english version cutting and mixing together the best parts of 5 takes. ended up with about 200 nice audio regions in a row.
what happened is that when i tried to copy the new english version in the old logic project it gets totally screwed up. the reason being (i think) that the new project is 120bpm and the old one 77,7476 (?), which i didnt notice before.
is there any way i can
    1) paste the 120 bpm stuff into the 77bpm stuff so that it ignores the tempo difference? – now the ends of the regions change, causing sentences to to end funilly, and there a gaps between regions.
    or
    2) change the 120bpm projects tempo to 77bpm without screwing it up?
    or any other solution?
    thanks,
    /r

    Hi Rikard,
Beforehand, forgive me for any overexplaining I might do. In case of underexplaining, just ask.
200 regions in a row? On one track, right?
    1) If so, you could simply merge all the audio regions into one fixed file. Select all regions on the track and hit the '=' shortcut. Logic will tell you that it is gonna make a new file. This new file you can then import into the other project. Audio (not loop) files are independent of Logic's tempo. It is just that the bar division doesn't line up with the tempo anymore. But if that is not a problem...
Also I do not understand why the new project is at 120 bpm? Is there a reason for that, other than that it is the default value when opening an empty project? If not, just set it to the 77 something of the old project. If there is already stuff in your new project and now you want to add your 200-region audio, use method 1). If you change the tempo, two thing change: the tempo of any mioditrack, and the time between audio regions. The audio regions itself will not change.
    regards, Erik.

  • Carriage return often not recognised, copy-paste is half broken...

Trying to type into web forms such as gmail (or this one), CR is often ignored or delayed until after the next letter typed. Oh fun, I can't start a new line here, for eg. Also, if I ctr-c, the buffered material is lost if I do even the most trivial activity before the ctr-v.

hello VxDman, i could replicate this changed behaviour in firefox 29 and above. you can try this as a workaround:
<br>enter '''about:config''' into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''editor.singleLine.pasteNewlines'''. double-click it, change its value to '''3''' and restart the browser for it to take effect.

  • Copy-pasting and lifting audio between projects--no playback

    Hello everyone,
Every time I copy paste or lift audio from one project to another (i.e. copy, save project 1, close, open project 2, paste), the audio works fine for that session but ceases to play back when I reopen the project later. The audio in the project media / clip selection area will work just fine, but when I double-click on the clip I pasted in the timeline, the clip preview window shows a red field and no audio. This basically means that I'm losing all the edits I made in project 1 and having to re-insert each piece of audio into the project 2 timeline and redo my edits. What's the problem? Is there any way I can copy-paste audio from one project timeline to another?
    (Edit:) I'm using CS6.
    Thanks very much,
    Josh

It  wont work  that way because you are playing it out of the Clipboard. which is temporary.
Usemultiple  Sequences in the same Project instead if you want to do that. to different edits

  • Now with audio configuration gone...

How does one go about removing inserts, sends, and input and output settings for channels?
Do I have to load every single possible channel setting on an object in the environment to make sure that my environment has no lurking plugins or IO setting?
    Am I missing something???

I tried my testing again today, to make sure I wasn't dreaming yesterday.
Jon, lets say you start with a Blank session. Add an audio track, instrument track, or create any of the various "audio objects" in the environment (bus, aux, in, out, audio track, inst track). Add an insert. Open your mixer and click "all".
Now delete whatever you just created from the environment or the track. Note when testing with tracks you actually have to create a second track (not a duplicate) because you have to retain at least one track in the arrange window. When you delete it you should see it disappear from the "all" view in the mixer.
Now create the same track and/or object again, and you will see that your insert is still there. It is retained, just like in logic 7. The only difference is in logic 7 you could go into audio configuration and clear out these retained inserts (AND IO settings) independent of if they were in your environment or not.

  • Audio Configuration damaged...

I started a song yesterday that was fine and dandy for a while, but now when I open it I get a message saying "Audio configuration damaged." Anyone know what this means and how I can fix it (without having to recreate the song from scratch, of course).
It still opens and seems to play just fine, but messages like that make me nervous....
    Thanks,
    -Jeff

No DAE+DTDM here, and I just had this happen this morning.
I had renamed the song, to reflect the edits I was doing, and only had a couple of back-ups that had been saved, when Logic crashed, and I got the "Audio Configuration Damaged " window when I tried to re-open.
In my case, the "Damaged" prompt wouldn't go away, no matter how many times I hit "O.K." I had to force quit Logic.
And the 2 back-ups that were in existence were also damaged.
Fortunately, because I had re-saved under a slightly different name, from an existing version, I was able to start over... but still losing 25 to 30 minutes of work.

  • Audio Configuration Destroyed

Hello. I just spent 16+ hours creating a masterpiece, and now when I try to open Logic, it tells me that the "Audio Configuration is Damaged!". All the tracks are limited to only 9 simple audio tracks. No Buses, no outputs, no audio instruments, no nothin'. Anyone have any input on this lack of input?
    Thanks for your help!
    -Dylan

I haven't been able to resolve this issue. I attempted to export the critical files track so I didn't need to re-edit them but the file was mute when I tried to play it back.
I then reverted to a previous backup that I had on time machine about an hour before the issue appeared.
I'm now back to where I was but I still don't know what caused it.
Praise be to who ever came up with the idea of time machine. I dips me lid yet again for saving my arse.

  • "Out of memory" message when trying to copy audio configuration between songs

    Hello again,
Any suggestion welcome about how to do paste an audio configuration successfully in 9.1.8. Here both the source and target songs are quite light stuff, 20 tracks, not much automation, never more than 3 inserts. The computer has 16 GB of Ram. Not sure if Logic X has the same problem but I can't afford to switch just yet. Please help if you can... Thanks !

    Mbelekete,
Although I am in 64 bit mode,
Are you sure? Go to Logic Pro's menu bar, About Logic Pro and check the pop up widnow for it to actually say 64bit mode as some people have reported unchecking the 32bit mode option in Get Info but Logic continued to boot up in 32bit mode usually because of a permissions issue with their Applications folder.
Anyhow.. assuming you really running Logic Pro 9  in 64bit mode
Logic only uses more memory when it needs to do so... such as when loading in large sample libraries... for example. so by default it will only use, say 3GB of Ram itself upon start...
Safari caneasily  use more memory depending on for example,  how many tabs you have open.. what the websites you are viewing use.. such as HTML5, Java routines.. Flash etc.. and so on.... So its not so strange really.

  • Copying, pasting and editing audio problem?

hi, i have some audio tracks that i originally recorded in pro tools le
(no plugin delay compensation if using uad's or other 3rd party plugs dont even go there by the way)
and have exported them to logic 8 and changed the arrangment for a song.
The problem is when i cut and paste sections of an audio track to a different part of the song, if i trim, cut, mute or pull it back it changes the part of the audio that i originally pasted it from?
how do i stop this from happening?
    can anyone help
    thanks

Once you've copied/pasted the new region to where you want it, select the new region and press:
    OptionCmdF
You will then be prompted to give a new filename for the audio file. This generates a new file, which can be edited separately from the original.
