Logic 8.02 Mac Pro TDM Digi 96 i/0 OSX 10.5.5 - HEEELP!!!

Anyone running Logic 8.02 in TDM successfully on a Mac Pro?
I've reinstalled and checked everything for months now!
Still no sound from EXS (TDMAux) or any Dtdm / ESB . .. only audio . .
Help!

*Hi Dane. Great thanks for helping us!*
I'll answer your q's
+With the Magma, do you still keep 1 Core card in the host computer?(with HD3 i have all cards inside my mac.)+
Only Magma-card in computer (since it's PCI-Express) and all the (4) PT-cards (including core) in Magma. I have 1 HD Core, 1 HD Accel, 2 HD Process. All checks out "passed"
+Are you running SpotLight?(I have mine turned on on the main OS X HD, ad off on my Recording/Audio/Logic&Pro Tools Sessions.)+
Tried both.
+Are you using a dedicated, separate (from the OS) HD for ALL Recording/Audio/Logic&Pro Tools Sessions?+
Yes.
+Have you tried removing ALL plugins from there normally kept folders, and booted? Keeping the plugins in a folder on your desktop? to see if they are interfering..+
Yes. In addition, I've made 2 separate fresh LeopardPTLogic installations on 2 separate HD's, to be able to try different things . .
+Read this it helped me understand what is happening technically.+
+http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=254&highlight=+
Ok. I actually glanced at it . . but I'll read it again, thoroughly!
+Have you read though a followed the Logic Pro 8 TDM Guide located here and in your Logic app?+
+http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/LogicPro_8_TDMGuide.pdf+
Yes. Very uninformative indeed. I must say, having been a Mac-freak since early '90s, Apple's support and documentation on possible and reported problems really *****. It feels like the TDM-crowd was abandoned the minute Apple bought Logic.
+Simple, but is you Logic Pro working fine with only Core Audio running? (no DAE & DTDM)+
Yes.

  • Logic & The New Mac Pros

I know it's early, but is there any news/issues on using the new Mac Pros w/ logic?
    - what about using non-universal plugs - will they work too?
    - any performance tests related to a G5?
    - etc......???

The main problem is that non UB plugs won't work, but I think that most developers are coming to address this, and with arrival of the Mac Pro, their incentive will be even greater. I would love to see some benchmarks, but it seems to me that the only real ones will be with the elusive 7.2.2. I am really loving my MacBook - honestly, I had never expected this much performance from a laptop running Logic, it has really blown me away.
I'm certain that the Mac Pro will be one beast of a desktop, and also quiter that the G5s. Bare in mind though that they are Rev. A., and I would be hugely surprised if they have no problems.
Even still, these machines will really give HD Accel systems a run for their money, and I think we could be about to see a massive change in what people are using for their music production systems. I'm not saying that people will switch from PT systems, but with the reduced price of an MP, that kind of processing power will be available to more people. This kind of release has the potential to give us Mac users that ultimate power experience without forking out for Digi hardware, giving us flexibility on both software and also hardware.
One thing that I really hope will happen is that more and more people will begin to realise that, with more computer power, their dreams are the limit. I am honestly surprised at how few bands use Logic live. For me, it is my instrument. Certainly, one of these days it will probably crash, but I keep my system in good shape, and reckon I have minimised the risk by as much as I can. My MacBook offers me so much more power than my PB used to, and I haven't even started pushing it live. In recording situations, I push it very, very occasionally to the max, and continue to be amazed. All I need now to work out is how to have my sequencer running AND be able to live switch my instruments in the way I do.
To return to the topic, bring it on! One of these beasts is definitely in my sights, but personally I will wait until Rev. B. or until enough people have accepted to guinea pig the system.
    Best, Fred
P.S. Counter to my argument, my MB is Rev. A.

  • Logic 7.2/ Mac Pro / Usb Controller - K61

Have just installed korg k61 to run with logic 7.2, apart from on the lowest octave, the keys c,e and g sharp are not triggering, any suggestions??

I don't think digidesign allows support for any other applications.

  • Logic 7 and Mac Pro Quad Core

    Hi all.
I'm thinking of getting one of the new Mac Pro's, and am considering the Quad Core version. I'm just wondering whether this will actually improve the performance of my apps, particularly Logic 7 and Live 6. I know that these both support mutiple cores/processors, but is this currently limited to the usual 2 core/2 processor per core arrangement found in the first Mac Pros? Will the other processors get any use at all? Will I have to wait until further upgrades of the software to maximize it's potential?
    Thanks

MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi Bryan.
I love both apps for different reasons. Live is just fantastic for knocking out a demo for a song. So quick and easy and I don't lose any momentum or enthusiasm for the song.
Logic is by far the superior app, but I tend to go to it once the song is fairly structured in Live. I bounce any tracks that use 3rd party plugins out of Live and recompile in Logic. Any loops that I use tend to stay in Live and I link it up via ReWire. That way I can keep the sponteneity of the various Scenes in Live, while the song is being built up in Logic. I do bounce those loops out of Live eventually and edit them in Logic before running off the final mix.
I also use Protools as well. I hate it's MIDI editing. Absolutely terrible. But I use it for doing umpteen takes of vocals/guitars, comp them and then bounce out the finished file. I play along to a version of the backing tracks bounced out of Logic and placed on another track. Protools is the best audio editor for sure.
They're all good Bryan. Each one has it's own way of working with music and leads you towards decisions that the others may not. It's also good to work on one part in one DAW, commit to the take/edit, bounce out, and keep working with the resultant file in another DAW. I find if I keep it all in one, I just keep tweaking, and tweaking....
    See ya

  • Logic Express on Mac Pro

Has anyone tried to use Logic Express on the new Mac Pro yet? I have no additional audio hardware, and LE refuses to use the built-in audio out. All I can use is the headphones out on the front. I changed the default output settings in the system settings and everything works fine in Garage Band, iTunes, etc. Just Logic seems to ignore the line out.
Since this is the first time I am using both the Mac Pro and Logic, I have no idea if this is a new issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Why oh why didn't you buy Logic Pro??? Personally I
would put functionality before power.. but hey..
I realise this is off topic but could you start a new
    thread for the following...
    - I'd love to get a glimpse of the power of the Mac
pro. Is there a universal benchmark song available
that you could test for us & we can use it to compare
    our (Comparitively) measly specs with!?
That's a matter of $150 vs. $500 with edu discount... for what I do, Logic Express works just fine. If I get more serious with music production again, I will upgrade.
I will hapily do a performance test if you give me a link.

  • Running Logic Studio on Mac pro G5 AND MacBook Pro with dongle

Hi..I have been running the latest version of Logic on my Mac G5 for many years now but  also want to run it on my MacBook Pro. I have installed Logic studio from the original disks but the program will not load with or without my emagic dongle. I thought the whole point of the dongle is that you can take your work to different studios as the sole user of the program. What is wrong here?
    Thanks in advance.

I've just noted that Waveburner will work!

  • Can I set up a Mac Pro as a server using OSX Server for my current Windows-based office?

I have a small business, and our office currently has a Windows-based network.  I love my Mac and it's ease of use, and for now I have to use Remote Desktop to log on to my server, and then run my MRP/ERP business software from that.  Is there an Apple solution (Mac Pro?) for my server, where other users could run parallels to access the MRP/ERP software?  Thanks!

It is possible - even quite easy - to turn almost any current or recent model of Mac into a server by installing OS X Server. It is less clear, however, that this will do what you want.
What are the hardware and software requirements of your MRP/ERP software? If it will only run under Windows or any OS other than Mac OS X, then it will not work, and installing OS X Server will not change that.
You may be able to get the MRP/ERP software to run under Windows run on a Mac using Parallels or VMWare Fusion, but it would still be running under the Windows OS, just virtualized so that it runs inside the Mac OS. Thus it will not be any easier to use than your current system, and in fact may be harder, and might not work at all.
You could also run Windows under BootCamp, but again, while the Windows OS would be running natively, you lose any ease of use of the Mac OS.
    Best of luck.

  • The ability of the new 2014 Mac Pro to run older legacy OSX versions?

Being a video editor, I will probably be in the market to buy the new Mac Pro when it's released into the marketplace (which should be very soon).
So my question is...I usually retain several different startup drives, with different versions of OSX and different versions of editing software.   Let's say I have the new Mac Pro, the 2014 edition, but rather than edit a new project in Mavericks and FCPX...I find that I need to go back to a legacy version of OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard and FCP 7.   And I have that on a bootable external drive.    And the key question is...would anyone know if I could boot up on that using the new Mac Pro hardware?
My current Mac Pro is an older one, 1.1, and I have no difficulty in restarting and booting up from legacy drives containing older versions of the OSX.   I'm hoping the same may be true of the new one.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks, John

your   1,1 as a backup, test system, safety net would be excellent. And if you have not already, some are very happy with cheap 53xx upgrades to 8-core and some other touches to keep it running smoothly.
I wish there was a bootable PCIe 6G card, not for booting but better support for PCIe 1.x SSD controllers.
I feel like I am hitting some bandwidth walls lately - seems odd but my i7 2.66 920 PC running 7 or 8.1 feels smoother and better in comparison to Lion 10.7.5  Lion use to feel perfectly fine, but  background tasks, especially TimeMachine and CCC can seemingly bring  it to its knees - slow web page loading for one thing.
If  you can afford to keep the 1,1 and make some improvements to it, do so though. It's latest 7 yrs and may have a couple more years of life left in it.

  • Mac Pro needs to be restarted (OSX ask for it)

Greetings, I have encounter a problem with my Mac Pro ...I start using it and sometimes a black screen comes up and says "You must restart your computer" etc etc in different languages with an on of icon. I was using After Effects CS3 and it doest this ...not only with this problem but with different applications and sometimes just by itself. What seems to be the problem?
this is an urgent problem I need to solve this to finish work here in the office

www.oreilly.com has a lot of good books also. However, the links from Google point to some excellent FAQs to help track down and troubleshoot causes and possibilities. It is not a quick fix. Testing cables, memory, and looking for software problems. And then start with a fresh undamaged system, as the one you have is likely suffering some corruption of the directory.

  • Mac Pro won't clean install OSX on new HDD

I have a Mac Pro early 2008 and I was running windows and mac on 2 separate hard drives. I was using the 500gb WD hdd that came with the mac that had mac installed and I just upgraded to mavericks, and I was also using a new WD 1TB hdd for Windows (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0088PUEPK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1394048774&sr=8-1). I was using windows more because I was having trouble switching back and forth and sometimes the mac hdd wouldn't show up. I tried a few different things with the harddrive and I just came to the conclusion that the mac hdd was dead. It was the original hdd that came with the Mac Pro so it was pretty old I figured it just died, it wouldn't show up anywhere. Anyways, I bought. 2TB WD hdd (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008YAHW6I) to use for mac and now when I tried to install it with the retail mac snow leopard install disk from apple, it gets to the grey apple logo with the loading circle and just stays there forever. I've left it on for a while and it still stays there, which is the same thing that happened when I tired to reinstall it to the old mac harddrive that I think is dead. I've started up into boot option and the new hdd doesn't show up, idk if it's supposed to show up being that's it's a new hdd or what. So I'm not sure if the hard drive is incompatible or the installer disc is incompatible with this Mac Pro. Or the 2tb is too big, I've heard people run up to 3tb on one hard drive on mac pros and they still run good. So I'm not sure, if anybody could please help I'm sure it's probably something simple. Links to the harddrives I have are above. Thanks a lot !

No 2TB is not too big, though it is overly large for a boot drive.
A 128 or 250GB SSD is just about perfect for system boot drive - for either system.
Cloning for backup is the best type of insurance against issues. Two probably, one you can have a copy of the working sytem, one older safe copy. And use those to repair.
you might have been able to clone it. You might be able to mount it and use Data Rescue 3.
A "recovery drive" and two backup drives: TimeMachine and clone.
System drive and "data" drive for all the media and data and other non system files, all YOUR user folders and files.
Did you change out the video card? that could be one reason why. Apple's ATI 5770 requires 10.6.5+ - beyond the build of the retail Snow Leopard.
You could try buying Mountain Lion too.
With good backup clones then rare to ever need to redo and install the system. But it is good to start fresh when you have a new OS, and to format any drive at that time, and probably on a yearly basis - and not just keep using same drive for system, or for data.
I would think that without proper maintenance and use of Disk Utility: Repair Disk, you just had simple directory corruption issues.

  • Mac Pro 1,1 - ATI x1900 - OSX.6.8 - Montiors glitch

Are there still issues with this card and the MP? I replaced the stock NVIDIA 7300 with a used x1900. Now, only one of my monitors comes up. I can see the 2nd one trying to power up, but it never does (via the LED on the monitor). I did some searches and I guess there were some issues with the ATI driver in 10.5, but it seems that it has never been addressed. People had freezing issues and screen glitches. I've done the normal troubleshooting: repair permissions, PRAM, SHIFT-on-start-up, etc... Occassionally the monitor will fully turn on, but then it shuts off again. If I log into Windows XP, all is good. Any thoughts? Do I just get a another video card?

okay, craZyfj40, lemme see if I can help you.  The xfx6870 requires 500 watts of power on its own,..I don't think you need a 2nd power supply though. I can't find any listing for a radeon 2300. I can find a listing for an X1900 and a 2600, but not the 2300. there is a 2400, but I dont' know for sure if it's Mac Compatible or not.
here are drivers http://www.cindori.org/6870-in-mac-pro/. Apparently it works in   Lion. Don't expect a boot screen though,  Apparently you can tap into the Molex connector for the 2nd cd drive and use that for your card, and it should work OK.  Dunno what else to say-apparently if the cables aren't plugged in, the card won't start at all. Maybe you have a bad cable? or a bad card. I know that getting those PCI-E power cords in there is a royal pain in the.....
. anyways, try updating to Lion first and see if that fixes it. I'd suggest updating to Mountain Lion or Mavericks, but that probably won't happen-lotsa fiddling around. ....
    Good luck

  • How can I enable 16 outs from Logic with Intel Mac Pro?

    Hi everyone,
I am a bit new to the digital output world! I have a Digi002 with Logic 7 and I have a Behringer A/D converter box to recieve digital output using optical cable. My question is this: I can only see 8 normal stereo outputs plus additional 9-10 output. Is there a command in Logic (as per the old "enable 16 in/outs in 5.5)to allow the greyed out extra outputs to work? or I am being very stupid and not enabling some command on the Mac?
I thank you all in advance for any kind responses!

I see you're using a Behringer A/D converter. I had one of these once. It made a lot of noise: crackling, pops etc. I know that was the cause as they only happened on those 8 tracks.
I may have had a lemon, but if you get similar problems, (and I hope you don't) I have changed to the Alesis AI3 and now have no problems, it might be worth you making a mental note.

  • My Mac Pro keep restarting after install OSX Mountain Lion!

I had start up errors, took forever to start they keep restarting again and again.
How can I fix this problems?
    Thx!!

it is not that, then an app may be crashing causing the OS to crash and then you may have a setting that restarts your computer should it crash.
You might also want to attempt a reinstall from the recovery partition
To get to the recovery partition restart your computer,  hold CMD+R down when you hear the boot up chime. Open Disk Utility first (verify your boot disk and repair if needed) and then close it and reinstall ML.

  • Anyone running Logic Pro/Mac Pro/Digi M Box

    Greetings,
Updating my sad little system soon and wondering if anyone is running Logic on a Mac Pro in conjunction with a Digi M Box. I need to have Pro Tools for work purposes and am hoping that Logic will play nice until I can afford dedicated audio hardware for Logic.
