Logic 8 installer won't update to 8.0.1
For some reason, my computer does not seem to think it needs the Logic 8.0.1 update. I installed 8.0.0 fresh from my DVD's last week and have downloaded 8.0.1 from Apple's site, but when I launch the installer, I immediately get a message saying "Your computer does not need this update". Maybe most of the fixes were Intel related (I'm on a G4 Powerbook), but shouldn't the update still work? I've repaired permissions, restarted, etc. to no avail.

Because FM10 began crashing with "fatal" errors whenever I tried to generate a TOC for a small (65 page) book, I researched workarounds and none of them worked. Now that I have delivered a crippled deliverable via Acrobat manipulations, I would like to fix FM. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, got some updates, and then received the "licensing fix" error that popped up in January. I'm wondering why this fix was included not in the updates. That said, the licensing fix package, first, would not unzip so I downloaded it again. I unzipped it but I got a message that Adobe Updater Installer could not run and after several clicks I found that file. I reinstalled Adoble Update Installer but it still does not run.
I am running Windows XP and have TCS 3.5.I uninstalled FM and RH but not Acrobat, Captivate, or Photoshop.
So, now what? Listen to my supervisor who says never use FM again?
P.S. Why do I have to enter a title for my question and then do it again when this page opens??Give Adobe Support a call or contact the TCS team at [email protected] - something in your environment is causing the installer to fail (I'd guess).

I purchased snow leopard from online macstore in Australia and got a disk with OSX 10.6.3 but my macbook with intel processor and 1 gig won't update from 10.5.8. It restarts but doesn't update after disk installs. Do I need 10.6.0 to install first?
Insert the Snow Leopard DVD, restart your MacBook while holding down the C key, this should start your Mac from the optical drive instead of your hard drive. Choose your language and install Snow Leopard. When it's done and you've restarted on your new 10.6.3 system run software update to upgrade to 10.6.8. Done.

Logic 7.2 won't install TDM w/PT7

I just got my Logic 7.2 upgrade yesterday and it has two problems:
(1) Every time it loads TDM it crashes on one of the Waves Waveshells - I think it's 5.3 or 5.4. This same Waveshell loads fine when loading Pro Tools (7.1cs3). Removing this Waveshell allows Logic to at least load, though presumably without the functionality of the Waves plugs accessed by that shell.
(2) The whole TDM thing simply won't work in Logic. I keep getting an error saying that ESB cannot load. I did a seach and saw that someone had this same problem with Logic 7.1 and was told that Pro Tools needs to be installed first. In my case it obviously is, so the Logic installer should have seen and accommodated for that. Anyone know what's going on?1) Yes, PT must be installed before Logic. If you're updating your rig, the PT update must be installed before your Logic update.
2) Logic TDM 7.2 requires PT 7.1cs4. 7.1cs3 will not work.
3) Most of your TDM plugins will have to be updated. Fortunately, most of them are available on one page at www.digidesign.com. The only exception we had was Sony Oxford, which required an $18 update.
4) Our Digi hardware configuration was all messed up after upgrading. You might want to write down how yours is set up right now. We forgot and had to experiment.
5) Repair permissions after installing PT 7.1cs4. Reboot. Repair permissions after installing Logic 7.2. Reboot. Repair permissions after installing all your TDM plug upgrades. Reboot.
6) I'm running 7.2 with PT 7.1cs4 and it's the most stable Logic's been for us since 4.7 on OS 8.6.
7) We're still using Waves 4.x with great success, so it may not be your Waves shell. -
HELP!
I'm hoping someone can help with my iMac 27" purchased in 2010. From a previous discussion I started a year ago, I have had virtually nothing but trouble with it. After the internal hard drive crashing, I was able to install OS X on an external drive and used it for a good 8 months to drive my iMac and I took it to an expert who has replaced it with a 3tb HDD, but at some point the display has gone crazy. I am not certain if it is hardware, i.e. graphics card or video but I'll describe the symptoms and add some pics to see if anyone has seen this before and knows what the problem may be.
1. 90% of the screen was covered with white with just a portion of the desktop showing through.
(This happened when I tried to reinstall OS X on the old HDD and the new one, but didn't happen when using OS X install disc)
2. Files, folders, photos and some icons on the dock go black
3. Files and photos double up when in Finder. When I'm viewing photos, it shows them but all the previous panes and the photos are jumbled behind the
photos.
4. Anything I open in Preview is completely black, but ColourSync Utility opens everything fine.
5. Programs won't update. They will download onto my iMac but won't update. Some say, because I don't have OS X 10.6.8 others just won't open.
Including Google Chrome, opens with two tabs open but when I open a third tab the rainbow wheel just turns. Skype won't open just gives a failure
report.
6. 10.6.8 Update Combo downloads but when I restart the screen is covered in white - as in 1. and I have to reinstall OS X 10.6.2 to get the screen to clear but then all the above problems continue.
7. Sometimes videos don't display in Youtube, or the entire page other than the video player is covered in rainbow lines.
8. Some buttons are blacked out on selection pages, i.e. system preferences, or saving screens
9. Photos opened in FB go upside down and flicker all over the page as my mouse runs over them.
10. Photos won't upload into internet editing programs.
I can't find anyone who has had the same issue in all of the discussions I've looked at, but it sounds like I have a video problem, but I wondered if it might be a software problem with flash or something. Or I have something malicious on my computer.
I also have an iphone 5 that faulted with the iTunes and USB icons and won't fix after trying one of those R-Sims, and I wondered if somewhere along the line it may have even had a virus/trojan/malware that has infected my external drive and then my internal drive. A reason I have thought that is because I have used my daughter's MacPro laptop and plugged in my external drive and I noticed the windows in hers were starting to do the same thing.
And on top of all that, my fans didn't work for over a year and I had to place an external fan at the back of the computer or it would overheat and shut down, but after resetting the SMU it started working again, but it is very noisy. I have tried to download SMC Fan Control and although it downloads to the HDD, it won't open.
Sorry its such a long post, I do hope with all of this information someone can help me.

Macs get grumpy when running anti virus software. Disable or completely uninstall Sophos A/V and see if that makes a difference. A/V software on a Mac will slow the drive down more and more as time goes on.
Also, check the vendor sites for each 3rd party software you installed to make sure they are compatible with 10.6.x
The "hard reboots" are a result of the system freezing due to incompatible or outdated software.

My iTunes won't update on my computer. I have windows vista. I can open up itunes and when I click on "check for updates" it asks if I want to download iTunes version 11.1.5 and I click "Download iTunes" but then nothing happens. Sometimes uptop the loading bar will appear but for only a split second. I have tried restarting, shutting down, I cannot figure out why it won't download. What's happening and how do I fix it?

Due to prolonged illness, I purchased the Logic Studio Upgrade version (I already had Logic Pro 7.2.3, with dongle) only last week. Logic Studio Upgrade version initially installs Logic Pro version 8.0.0. I then dutifully set out to download both the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update and the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update.
As of this week, all attempts and maneuvers to simply get the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update have failed. I cannot even find it, let alone download it!
Yes, I've tried the relabeling juggling act to fool Software Update into eventually listing and providing both the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update and the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update—but no luck, not any longer. These moves may have worked up until relatively recently, but they do not work now, at least as of this week.
All searching of Apple's site(s) and Support pages results in nada—Apple itself no longer lists any such file/dmg/download/update anywhere! All previous links are either dead or just dump one back on to the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update page.
(In my many searches, I noted what seemed to me to be a majority of opinion that the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update was a dog, especially in Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 or 10.5.3. Many users reported crashes, panics, and.or freezes. Is this why Apple has pulled the update and rendered it extinct?)
I Googled, I Asked Why, I Cuiled—but no Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update, except as that which lurked in the murky warez waters. Still, frustrated as I was, I did even try all such I could find . . . but no third party-hosted update worked at all.
I am concerned because in all my previous experience with Apple and its applications, ample information is made readily available about the contents of any update and an explanation of its relationship to previous updates. By this latter I mean: Apple indicates that update "x" incorporates the previous updates "u" and "v"; therefore one can proceed safely to install update "x" even if one missed updates "u" and "v" or for whatever reason did not install them.
So . . . do I need Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update, if I am then going to further update with the Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update? Does Logic Pro 8.0.2 Update incorporate the changes made in Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update? Will I be missing (critically?) something(s) in Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update if I in fact do not ever get it or install it? And how would I know? Apple has not only removed the update and all traces of it, but Apple has also removed all information about Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update—it is now literally as if it never existed.
So what's a po' boy to do? Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update cannot now be found on VersionTracker or MacUpdate or anywhere else. To date, no user group or organization or educational institution or program or audio-related company posted it or archived it.
Where/how can I get a copy of the Logic Pro 8.0.1 Update?
If I can't, what do I do?
If I can't, what do I miss?
And where is Apple's support for Logic Studio/Logic Pro in all of this?

I had uninstalled iMovie 10 after it was updated and decided to reinstall it but it won't update, iMovie 10 update is stuck at installed in my App Store account. How do I get it the update to revert to uninstalled so I can re-update iMovie 10 to 10.0.1? iMovie 9.0.9 (iLife 11) is still installed and working.

You can undo a lot of changes, either via changing settings or prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page or via extensions.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

My beautiful ipod nano is prooving to be more trouble than it's worth....nowadays it won't update. It's recognised on my pc and everything and new songs go onto my library no problem but when it claims to be updating "mr pod" it's not!
Any ideas?If you have all your songs backed up in iTunes then try restoring your iPod. This will erase the hard drive, reload the software and return the iPod to factory settings. A fresh installation of the software will hopefully get it back updating for you as usual: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings

Camera raw won't update for Creative Suite CS5 for windows 7
Hello,
After a recent hardware meltdown I have recently reinstalled my CS5 Creative Suite onto a new machine (running windows 7).
For some reason the Adobe Application manager won't update. I keep getting the same error message and getting redirected to redownload the Application manager. I have done this several times and keep getting the same error. I have also tried rebooting numerous times and also installing the updates manually from the Adobe website. Neither have worked
Specifically, I need to update camera raw as I now cant read any of the .ORF files that I have.
Any help would be much appreciated.

My iPhone 5 won't update/install apps !! Any idea why ?
I own an iPhone 5, an iPhone 4s and an iPad 2.
They are all not jailbroken and are all running on ios 6.0.1
While my iPhone 4s and iPad 2 have no problem updating existing apps or installing new apps, my iPhone 5 won't update/install apps all !!
To be fair, about 2 week ago, all my iPhone 5 update/install won't work but after a day or two, they started downloading.
But now, my iPhone 5 updates and installations have been stalled for a week.
What is happening ? Can anybody please help ? Thanks.Okay fixed it:
First of all make a backup and sync your iPhone in iTunes.
Next reinstall your iPhone using DFU mode:
(FIND HOW 2 GET IN DFU MODE ON GOOGLE, APPLE DO NOT ALLOW TO PUT IN LINKS HERE :-( )
Then choose to put your latest backup back on your iPhone.
And voila you should see you now can recieve updates from App Store.
(It worked for me) -
Ipod won't update in windows 8
All of a sudden, Itunes won't update my Ipod in Windows 8. It doesn't even recognise that the Ipod is connected.
I got one error message from Itunes that the driver had been corrupted and it was trying to fix it.
I got another message from Windows that it had blocked the installation of an unlicenced driver.
I uninstalled Itunes, rebooted and reinstalled it without result but no error messages.
Just had a Windows update so I think that is the culprit.
When I plug in the ipod to the USB port, I get a sound acknowledgement but Windows doesn't seem to know it is there as there is no explorer icon and it doesn't show up in My ComputerHi loughgill,
Acrobat 9 might have compatibility issues with Windows 8.
Try changing the compatibility of Acrobat to Windows Xp and then check. -
Any clues on why my Mac won't update the OS to the newest version?
I am currently running OS 10.6.8.
My husband is running the same computer but 10.7.5...this despite my requests for updates.

That's because OS X 10.7 Lion is a paid upgrade that you can't get from Software Update. The most recent version is OS X Mountain Lion.
First, see if your Mac is supported > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs If it's compatible, make a backup of your data, open App Store and purchase OS X Mountain Lion. Then, Mountain Lion will start downloading, and when it finishes, the Mountain Lion installer will show up. Just follow the steps to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
