Logic 8 remaining problems (as posted on the LUG)

Logicians,
I've been using Logic 8 since it came out (and Logic since 1998) and these are the remaining issues I can't find a fix for yet:
1) The "save" functionality, as discussed already at some length on this list. My workflow requires me to save multiple backup copies of a song, or different versions of a song, and to have new project folders created for each one is a real pain.
2) The "Set Record Path" functionality. On Oct 2, [email protected] wrote on this forum that "the record path will always default to the Audio Files folder of the Project folder" .... but for me this does not seem to be the case, I still must manually select the record location for each song. I thought this might be because I imported a Logic 7 autoload, but I've tried with one of the standard templates and it's the same case.
3) More worryingly, for reasons I don't understand on some songs, when I record, there seems to be some sort of copying process happening where the audio files are being copied into another folder -- creating in my mind a really confusing redundancy situation which will lead me to the dangerous situation of having to figure out which are the redundant files and delete them.
4) The "bounce" key command seems to always bounce stereo files, regardless of whether "stereo sum" is set to mono or stereo. To make a mono bounce, I must use the old mouse system of clicking on the "stereo sum" audio channel at the bottom.
5) The most serious gripe which is putting a major crimp in my workflow: The new comping functionality. I don't consider it useable because it doesn't seem possible to move around takes in a understandable fashion. The real problem is that this new comping functionality cannot be turned off, as I understand it, so I am, while recording bits and pieces, constantly having to "Unpack" the takes folder with a key command and then manually delete the "comp", leading to confusion and room for making mistakes and deleting the original audio. If there were only a way to turn off this new "takes" functionality it would save me a huge headache.
6) The functionality of the "up" and "down" keys on the keyboard is confusing to me. Sometimes it seems to select tracks on the arrange page (as per Logic 7), and sometimes it seems to select regions -- the only way to return it to selecting tracks seems to be to click with the mouse on the track.
7) The display/redrawing problems of Logic 7 seem to have gotten marginally worse. After recording, I almost always have to press "1" to redraw the screen (i.e. redraw screenset #1), as the record audio looks all crazy often.
8) Similar display problem happen when I switch to the "text cursor" in the arrange window.. I have redraw the screen usually.

1. If you uncheck the box 'Include Assets' at the bottom of the save box, won't it just save the file itself without creating any other folders?
