Logic 8 wants Rosetta?

I reinstalled my OS as it was 1.6.4 and now when i click on logic 8 installer i getthis window i need to install rosetta though i never had it on my system.

Robert,
What did OS did your machine ship with? Rosetta was automatically installed with the OS on versions of Leopard up to 10.5.8. If you upgraded from an earlier version of Leopard you did have it installed.
Logic 8 is a Universal Binary, and will install on both PPC/Intal. My guess is the installer uses some UB code.

  • PPC Audio Units in Logic intel in Rosetta?

Is there a way to run the PPC only Audio Units in Logic audio on a Intel mac by opening logic in Rosetta?
I tryed and this isn't working but maybe is there a way to tweak something to run this (even if it's slow).
    Thanks

If the plugins you want to run are available as standalones (like soft synths or Guitar Rig), you can always run them in standalone mode and use Soundflower to route the audio to Logic. For the midi, use the IAC driver available in the AudioMidi Setup.

  • Time mapping in Logic?  Want to speed up\slow down track.

I've used time-mapping in Final Cut. But never in Logic. I've got a LOT of slowing-down \ speeding-up to do on a score that will be mostly midi \ sample instrument based.
Could someone point me to whatever it is called in Logic?, and are there choices of how to do it? Complex vs. easy? I vaguely remember finding it tricky in Logic to create a click-track 'after-the-fact' to match a piece of audio.
    All ears,
    Ben

    Hi Erik,
I've got a Bach piece I've midi'd, written in rather than played (it would take me days to learn to perform it decently). There are no dynamics in the piece.
I want to add the dynamics. Volume\velocity is easy. But I also want to start the performance slow, speed up, then slow down.
If there is any 'real' audio I will add it after, so that's not an issue, I'll just follow the scored track.
What I need is the easiest way to control the speed of the performance ... speeding up, slowing down incrementally (rather than just abruptly changing the tempo). I remember the 'beat-mapping' now, as something you do after you've recorded a live-audio piece. I also remember it being really tricky to work with.

  • Logic Pro wanting to sound like 1958

I am recording a Rock Steady/Ska band that I play in. These will just be live 1 take recordings in our rehearsal space. I am treating the room with duvets very heavily and I will play around with the many mikes we have going through my Apogee Ensemble.
The Question. Any suggestions on how to get it to sound like it was recorded sometime in the late 50's or early 60's. The band does a great job already with their gear and exceptional playing but I was just wondering if there was a good mix of plugs I could use.
    Thanks
    -Allan

I've had a good success with recording a Rockabilly band wanting to make it sound authentic, but using just one mic (AKG C12VR) set to OMNI in front of the lead singer, with the band and amplifiers positioned around the studio behind him. And nothing else. Just light eq, compression, plate reverb and slap delay.
Surprisingly enough it gives exactly the right kind of sound, the double bass sounded distant and slappy, the drums sounded thin and roomy, the vocals sounded hugely above the mix. It all sounded like it was band playing in a room together in mono with loads of echo. Just the way they like it! Compared to the cd's they brought in to reference to, old 50's rock n roll and rockabilly it sounded just right! Of course you need more confidence in what you're doing to take this route. You need to know from the get go, that it's the right way to go. But when you see the band smile from ear to ear and say "FINALLY THE SOUND!" you know it's the right move and putting up more mics would be a mistake.
If it's your band then you have enough room to experiment to try something like this and it not matter too much if it doesn't come out right the first time around.
Personally if I wanted to make something that sounded like authentic ska, I'd look for a good condition 4-8 channel tape machine and use that, throw up 6 mics, ribbons where possible (as mentioned before), mix it quite roughly, the bounce it back and forth a bit, while doing some over dubs and it'll become nicely saturated and compressed. It'll cost about £300 for a decent tape machine and a load of tape, not much compared to your Ensemble!!!

  • Help!  No Audio output In Logic Express 7

I have been running logic 7 Express with a MOTU Traveler for over a year now (with very few problems), and just this morning i have encountered a very puzzling problem. When i opened the song i was working on last night, i found that there was no audio output--just intermitant digital beeps at very high pitches (10-15k). i tried opening other songs; same problem. this problem does not occur when using the built in audio driver, so i was thinking it must be a hardware issue, but iTunes seems to output as per usual THROUGH THE MOTU so i'm really scratching my head here. hard drives etc seem to mount so the firewire port seems to be ok. i'm getting the same results (no audio playback and high digital pitches in Quicktime and Live as well...
has anyone with this setup ever experienced anything like this???!!!
    thanks for reading,

Check you preferences in LE for what you have selected for output. Also, and I am not 100% sure, because for me this is always already set, make sure each track has Output 1-2 on the channel strip. On my setup, I have my Tascam US-122 set for both input and output, then my monitor system is connected to the US-122. Now I don't recall which, but I think it was Logic that wants both input and output to be the same device. I am pretty sure, because I know I have used both in GB. Also, on my US-122, there's a switch for mono, so my recording comes in both speakers, as well as a direct monitoring switch, with a separate volume control, so I can balance my recording with the tracks I am playing to, to my liking. I am not familiar with your unit, but I'd think it'd have some similar features. Hope this helps some, anyway.

  • Can't record into Logic through the built-in mike

Hi guys, just faced a strange thing in Logic 8, want to record my voice through my MacbookPro's internal mike, so in Audio preferences I've put an in-built input, in System preferences put input and output to in-built speakers and mike, but I can't move the track level meter in Logic with my voice at all, and there's no waveform, no sound is going inside, i got just an empty audio region, while in the System's preferences window the level meter moves when I'm saying sth...What can it be?Anyone faced the same?
    Thank you

you need to select the build in microphone as the input in Logic Audio preferences as well.
it's the 1st on the drop down menu in Input Device Logic's Audio prefs.
And mute the output of the build in speakers or wear headphones

  • How do I get Logic Pro to work?

I finally believed all the hype about Mac being better and gave in. I got a MacBook primarily to use GarageBand and Logic Pro, which are the programs I also use in class. I go to set up Logic Pro. Everything goes smoothly until I try to open the program and I receive this message:
"You can't use this version of the application Logic Pro with this version of Mac OS X. You have 9.0.0."
Please tell me there's an easy way to fix, upgrade, etc. this - without having to purchase anything additional. This was not a cheap enough computer to just accept the fact that the features I wanted most may or may not work or be the right programs after installation.
    Thanks.

GarageBand is a stripped down, basic, user friendly DAW based on Logic. If you are buying Logic Pro, use Logic Pro. It's a professional application, with a leaning curve.  Why buy logic pro if you plan on using GarageBand anyway? Take the time to read the manual, read/watch tutorials, and read others questions on forums.
GarageBand is meant to be able to open, and use easily and immediately by anyone with a mac. Logic pro is the opposite.
My advice: ask yourself what you need in logic pro that GarageBand can't do for you? If all you want or need is more AU plug ins, you might consider buying instrument plugins and continuing to work in GarageBand.
However, if you find the power and features of GarageBand limiting (which some would pretty much off the bat), then it's def work it to put in the time and energy into learning logic.
My shorter answer would be: all the garage jam packs you get w logic pro you could use with GarageBand.
As far as logic's drum sampler and synths etc...... See my longer answer. If you're spending the money on logic, and want to use logic's synths etc you prob want to spend the time learning it, as GarageBand doesn't play in the same league as logic.

  • BPC Script Logic - XDIM_FILTER results in error

I am writing a Script Logic in BPC and I need it to include all records where the DESTINATION dimension member has the Dimension Property of PLANDEST = "Y"
    This approach works:
    *SELECT(%DestinationMbrs%,"[ID]","Destination","[PlanDest] = 'Y'")
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET DESTINATION = %DestinationMbrs%
    This approach does not work:
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET DESTINATION = <ALL>
    *XDIM_FILTER DESTINATION=[DESTINATION].PROPERTIES("PlanDest")="Y"
It results in the error message at runtime:
Error in step 1 of QueryCubeAndDebug: -2147467259 Query (1,156) The PLANDEST dimension attribute was not found.
The reason I would like to use the second approach is that the first approach relies on the SELECT statement.  The documentation on the SELECT statement says:
The *SELECT statement is executed at the time the logic is validated, and the expanded result is
written in the LGX file. This means that if the related dimension is modified, it may be necessary
    to re-validate the rules.
So if I change the DESTINATION dimension members PLANDEST flags, I need to re-validate the script logic.  That is a maintenance nightmare and a problem waiting to happen.
How do I solve this so that the dimension attribute is evaluated at runtime, not at logic validation time?

As Yuan Said, if you are using MDX logic and want to use property, you should check Inapp at the 'manage property' menu of admin console.
Usually, InApp sholud not be selected for better performance of MDX query. (SAP recommendation)
But. Here are two cases that you should select.
    1. MDX logic in the logic script.
    2. Dimension formula.
I hope it will make clear for all.

  • Logic sends 'Connection failure' message three times on loading & quitting

    Hi
I'm not quite sure why Logic should want to connect to the internet upon loading or quitting but it seems to want to. It always comes up with the error message "Connection failure could not connect to server" 3 times on loading and usually once or twice on quitting.
Why is this ? I have a broadband connection but I do not understand why logic wants to connect to the internet in this way.
Can anyone explain and more importantly, stop it happening ?
    Many Thanks

  • Logic for Automatice AccountID generation for B2C Accounts

I have noticed that the accountIDs for B2C accounts are of the form WEB245df2f283ce.
The WEB prefix is a configuration setting.
What is the algorithm or class used to generate this random(?) string.  I noticed there is a method CREATE in the class NPAccount but I hoping to use  SQL to bulk sync the users/usersAccount table with an external membership database.
Perhaps ... if the only requirement is that the ACCOUNTID's be unique then perhaps I can create my own as long as they don't conflict with any already existing?  Would that work if created my own random suffix to the WEB-accountid?

I'm not sure what class is used but in the Setup / Config Settings / Netpoint dropdown there is a checkbox for auto generating account id's. You could try unchecking this and see what happens .. I think it tries to create the account based on the userid.
If you want to create your own accounts in code, you're right they just need to be unique so you can use whatever logic you want.

  • How can we let logic in the implemetation process not to squeeze together?

    Hi xilinx expert:
There are three clk domain in my project . green, yellow and red clk domain. i don't understand why they are all place in the lower part of the device. All logic is squeeze together in the lower part, and the upper part is empty. The design did not meet timing requirements.
How can i get the yellow and green clk domain logic layout to the upper part of the device?

We had the same problem.  PBlocks are your friend.  You can chose which logic you want to move and where you want to place it, including having overlapping blocks.  We do things like:
    set N 11;
    set PB [create_pblock Cust_$N]
    add_cells_to_pblock $PB [get_cells -hier -filter [list NAME =~ *\[$N\].mCustPort]]
    resize_pblock $PB -add {SLICE_X158Y488:SLICE_X165Y498}
    resize_pblock $PB -add {DSP48_X13Y196:DSP48_X14Y199}
    set PB [create_pblock Cust_$N\_RX]
    add_cells_to_pblock $PB [get_cells -hier -filter [list NAME =~ *\[$N\]*mDecode*]]
    add_cells_to_pblock $PB [get_cells -hier -filter [list NAME =~ *\[$N\]*mFifoRx*]]
    resize_pblock $PB -add {SLICE_X170Y488:SLICE_X191Y498}
    resize_pblock $PB -add {DSP48_X15Y196:DSP48_X16Y199}
    resize_pblock $PB -add {RAMB36_X11Y98:RAMB36_X11Y99}
    The results look like this:
It is hard to see why you cannot use this to solve your problems.

  • Logic X templates missing

    Hey all,
Bit of a problem here. When I start up my Logic and want to choose a template, I only seem to have access to a limited amount of templates, which are Hip Hop, Electronic, Songwriter and Multi-Track.
I'd very much like to have access to the "Produce" section of templates which include temps such as Music for Picture, Stereo Mastering, Surround Mastering etc.
I checked my system files, and all the templates are definitely there.
I used to have access to all the templates but I no longer do. I've provided a picture of what I see on my screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would *guess* that reinstalling Logic would not erase the additional content. But that's just a guess. This link might help with that question: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22819179#22819179
Seems like some of your templates are somehow corrupted. It sounds like they are in your filesystem (I don't have it in front of me, but /Library/Application Support/Logic/Project Templates/ or something like that), but then they don't show up in Logic, and don't open correctly when opening from the filesystem.
How about this: Create a new user on your Mac. Open Logic there. Same problem? If not, try deleting some caches in your original user account (~/Library/Caches/com.apple.logic.x/ or something like that, and com.apple.audiounits.cache).
If the problem exists even on a new user ... this is a lame answer, but it might be just lame enough to work. It couldn't hurt to trash your preferences, repair disk permissions, and restart.

  • Logic for layout

    Hi all,
I have a requirement in my planning layout, let me explain what iam doing,
Iam using variable(v1) on version (jan-dec), user can select the month from variable (Manual entry or default value) pop up box. suppose if he select mar'2008, then on layout we have mar'2008 data. Now user can plan his data and save the data for that particular month. Now my requirement is........
After close the month of mar'2008 automatically open the months of apr'2008 to next year mar'2009 on the same layout.. This logic i want through the Data slices. I need to fix it. Waiting for reply
    Thanks&regards,
    Sohail Tanvir.

    Hi Nazeer,
Above logic means, if mar'2008 planned by the user and he saved the plan data for this month. After this the planning tool automatically display the months of Apr'2008 - Mar'2009. on the same layout.
    Thanks&regards,
    Sohail Tanvir.

  • Want to create a knowledge module urgently

    Hi all,
I am very new in ODI, i want to create an IKM for loading data into a target table. The logic i want to implement is that.
I have a target table say Event, it has three columns
    Create table Event
    Event_ID Number(10,0)
    ,Event_Num Varchar(255)
    ,Source Varchar(255)
Now i have a source table say Sales
    Create table event
    Sales_ID Varchar(255)
    ,Flag byteint
I want to load target table Event in a way that
    Event
Event_ID is a Surrogate_Key preferably a sequence in the interface named say Seq_Event that is unique for every event_num
,Event_Num is Sales_id from source table say Event
,Source hard coded value say 'Hello'
The only complexity is that event_id should b generated once for each sales_id i.e it should be a one to one mapping.
My source and target technology is teradata, if u ppl r not familiar with teradata then u can help me in making a IKM for oracle i will convert it into teradata.
Your urgent help will be higly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Here is the simple way to solve it.
Step 1. Create a variable EVENT_ID_SEQ and write syntax like this SELECT NVL(MAX(EVENT_ID),0) FROM TARGET_TABLE .
Step 2. Call the variable in the interface #EVENT_ID_SEQ+ROWNUM
step 3. Call the variable in refresh mode and interface in the package and run that.
This way every time you find the max (value) and using rownum gives the incrementing factor namely sequence number , Also make sure you map it to target and use Insert only and uncheck update for EVENT_ID column.
    hope this solves your issue

  • Help with Rosetta install

When I open a program that needs rosetta, it tells me "Network Diagnostic" and "Ok"
Its not giving me the option to install from the internet like it should. I'm obviously connected to the internet, I'm posting this from it right now. I can load up from the USB stick ad click customize, but when I do its not letting me uncheck OSX install. I just want rosetta.

I understand you have a MacBook Air, but until the most recent models the installation/restore media actually came on DVDs. It wasn't until the newer models where Apple included those USB drives. As there was no disclosure regarding which model you had, I presumed it was the one with DVD restoration media.
The USB drive, in so much as I can tell does not have the "optional installs" that the DVDs had. Thus allowing for additional software installation outside of an OS reinstallation (with optional software installation). So let's do this...
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/14414/mactheripper
Mac The Ripper is a PPC application that will require Rosetta to run. Download that and run the application, if it runs you've got Rosetta. If it doesn't report back the error message and make a note of what time it happened, then if anything we'll go digging through Console logs.
