Logic 9.1.5 and Motu PCI 424

I have a problem whit logic pro 9.1.5 and my Motu PCI 424- HD192 and 24IO... the problem is these: arbitrary I have a loss of output or imput channel only in logic, these channel works with iTunes for example but not in Logic, for example now when Im writing I can listen music from the chanel 1-2 in iTunes but the track in logic with assigned 1-2 have no out if I give 3-4 it works, for me is a problem because Im a professional user I have a studio and I mix in analog and I need all the out of both interface, what I can do? the driver is the last from motu and the problem is started whit Logic Pro 9.1.5 I think is a bug! A BIG BUG fro pro user!!! now I have Lion but the problem is present the same whit S.Leop.

I was joking... sorry for my english
anyway: I'm running a top of the line Imac, Mac Os 10.7.1 (that came preinstalled) and Logic 9.15. a full Apple rig... It's not unrealistic to expect a normal performance. IMO it's a little sub-par.
Regarding Logic, the last thing I want is they make things "simpler"... It ussually means less options. • Motu pci-424 noise attacks

i've been using the motu pci-424 (before that the 324) in my mac dual G5. generally works fine but every now and then i get a horrible noise, kind of like massive distorted white noise. it seems to have to do with the cable connection (firewire) from the pci-card to the interface (in this case a 1224).
i have had this problem in the past to but was able to live with it as it didn't occur that often. i have tried different firewire cables, have whittled away a few mili-meters of the plastic coating to allow the connector to sit tighter but to no avail.
is anyone else having these problems? any solutions?
best, sharkboy

This is Logic forum...
I don't use PCI-424....
anyway...
seems to be a 424 malfunction...
try to unisnstall the driver and disconnect your card from PCI slot!
trush preference, repair permission...
reconnect and reinstall...

• Mac pro and motu PCIe audio card with a 2408mkIII

mac pro and motu PCIe
i recently upgraded to the mac pro from a G5 and now my motu 2408 mkIII sound card does not work.
i installed the motu PCIe 424 pci card from motu and installed the latest UB drivers, followed the instructions to the letter, repeated numerous times in every pci e slot with only temporary luck. it worked briefly and then when the computer slept i lost the connection with the interface and have not been able to regain it.. yes i re-installed to the letter again. the pcie card is seen by the computer but it cannot seen the external rack mounted 2408 via the audiowire that connects it. yes i tried other cables. the unit worked fine on my G5.
i have heard of others with the same problem after updating the firmware to SMC 1.7. my mac pro came with the latest firmware.

To my surprise I had five software updates waiting for me. Among them Pro App update, two of them, and this SMC update. After I updated my MOTU PCI-424 audio interface no longer works. Tried installing MOTU drivers again, still nothing. It can't communicate with its audio interfaces. So right now, this amazing update from Apple stopped me from working, and I am on a pretty tight deadline. I hope I'll find a solution ASAP

A fully loaded one( keep in mind I have had fully loaded projects in the past, and it did not take this long) this was noticed after installing LP8, also major latencey even at 64 buffer size

• Motu PCIe 424, Mac volume control gone.

well, since I installed the pci 424 and the 24 I/O I can´t control system volume and mac output anymore. cuemix diesn´t show the mac input, and in the mac system everything is grayed out.
anybody solved that before?

Is there anyone with a Mac Pro, NVIDIA GeForce 7300, MOTU PCIe-424 and no problems?

• Motu PCI-424 / Tiger question

Hi everyone,
I am experiencing a weird problem that I am trying to solve. I use Motu hardware 2408mk3 audio interface and PCI-424 card. With Logic it works completely fine. The problem occurs when using any other software like SKYPE or Audio Hijack. Although I can select the PCI -424 audio card as in and ouput no audio signal is present. However, on the level meters of the interface as well as the Motu Cue Mix software Í can clearyl see that the audio I am trying to put through (for example from a microphone) is present.
I checked the Apple Audio Midi Setup to see if this might help and discovered that when selecting the PCI-424 card as input and output the settings for it are all greyed out so I can't adjust them. Could this mean that the core audio might be corrupted or how could I solve this ?
I've already tried to re-intall the MOTU drivers,, but still in Apple's Audio Midi Setup I can't adjust anything really except for choosing the Motu hardware. Help is needed ! Thanks !!!

You want both input and output through the MOTU interface, right?
Try to set I/O into OS X Sound preferences.
cheers

• MOTU PCIe-424/2408mk2 and Logic 7.2.3

Greetings All,
I've got a MacPro tower currently using an M-AUDIO Firewire 410. I've got a MOTU 2408mk2 with the original PCI-324. I'm thinking about doing the Upgrade to the 424PCI-e card but have a few questions.
1. What kind of Latency do you get with the PCI-e424.
2. Is it stable?, now that M-AUDIO updated the drive the unit works pretty well, but I miss the ADAT ability of the 2408mk2. Also stumbled across a post pointing to an operation that can upgrade the internals of the MOTU unit, so that's another possible reason to upgrade. So, if you upgraded to you fell it was worth the $300 bucks?
Thanks
Mark L

Hi Mark,
I have the PCI-e424 and the original 2408. In my system, latency is 28 samples, and that represents the round-trip of an audio signal out of Logic, into my Mackie D8B board via lightpipe from the 2408, out of the D8B via lightpipe back into the 2408 and into Logic. Twenty eight samples. Not bad!!!
Now, on this forum of late there's been extended discussion of how FW-based interfaces will exhibit a random amount of latency each time the computer is booted. That's kind of a nightmare that you won't have to deal with if you get the PCI card and use the MOTU system.
Also, unlike the other nightmare I see people reporting using various FW interfaces, i.e., sync problems, you will rarely if ever experience that with the PCI-based system.

• Logic 9 issue with original motu 828 and Snow 10.6.2 on a new imac 21.5in

Original Motu 828 and Imac Snow 10.6.2 os. What do i do to get this motu to work with Snow on the new iMac 21.5in model. I downloaded drivers from Motu which i get crashes. I heard some people are having no problem while others like myself having problem.
So to those who has this type of setup how did u do it.
I uninstall driver because of crash issues. I also trash the prefs but no go.
without the driver motu 828 doesn't crash when plugged in firewire port using cord fw 400 to fw 800 but system prefs and logic doesn't see the motu.
Has Motu stop supporting Snow to work with the original motu 828 and Why doesnt motu answer their phone.
I dont think i will ever buy a motu product if their phone is always busy. Dang... Cant even leave a message with motu by phone and i need my system to running.

My Mac Pro crashes all day since i updated or installed the Motu card.
I have qty 3, Motu 24/IO's, and 1 828mk3 and 1 896 mk3.
I updated to snow and then downloaded and installed motu's drivers and my Mac crashes all day long.
Left Support ticket on MOTU site and they are so lame they can
't even answer a support ticket let alone answer the phone.
I am hostage to a bad sompnay!. I own the PCIe 424 and all the 24/io's etc.
Is there another company that makes 1 card that will support 80 inputs of 96kz audio? I sure need one that only takes up one PciE slot!!!
Also if you have Ethno instruments it will crash your mac.
Is ther a script or master un-installer so you can remove all of Motu drivers/
Also try opening your console, and watching...it looks for a fw/usb device that is not recognized anymore. Guess MOTU wrote some good dirty code again that causes havoc on the buss!.
ANy ideas on another audio system that is snow lepord campatible?

• Logic Pro 7.0.1 and MOTU 896

Just bought another MOTU 896 off of EBay, I've daisy chained 2 MOTU 896s via Firewire. I've setup 896#1 as master clock in MOTU's control panel. I use LOGIC's 24 track recording template. When I open LOGIC's Audio Drivers preference panel I have to choose between MOTU 896#1 or 896#2- it doesn't seem to make a difference
My problem is how do I get LOGIC to recognise the additional MOTU inputs, it sees the 8 inputs from 896#1 I can record 8 simultaneous tracks and I can only arm recording up to Input 10. Where do I plug into inputs 9 and 10 ( I've tried inputs 1 and 2 on The 896#2 ) that doesn't seem to work. I would would like to record 16 simultaneous tracks. Does my coputer have enough horsepower? Anybody have some infoon this matter?

Hey Don (nice name)
An aggregate device is set up in Audio Midi Setup (AMS), which is an Apple program found in your utilities folder inside your applications folder on your hard drive
hard drive>applications>utillities>Audio Midi Setup
open AMS, choose Audio Devices and under the audio menu go to "Open Aggregate Device Editor" there you choose your two 896's to be joined together as one. Then once back in Logic you open your audio driver preferences and choose your aggregate device as your audio driver. then all your ins and outs from both units are available

The info is linked above. I agree that that info should be on the download page, but not having that info there doesn't mean the drivers aren't 64 bit.
http://www.motu.com/techsupport/technotes/64-bit-mac-compatibility
Hardware
When using the 64-bit kernel in Mac OS X v10.6 and later, 64-bit hardware drivers must be used. MOTU FireWire/USB2 audio interfaces, PCI-424 audio interfaces, and USB MIDI interfaces can be used with the 32- or 64-bit kernel. *The minimum driver versions required for use with the 64-bit kernel are:*
*FireWire/USB2 Audio 1.5 (37320)*
PCI-424 Audio 1.5 (38352)
USB MIDI 1.5 (37320)
The current version available for download (after you log in) is 1.5.38352, so according to MOTU it is a 64 bit driver and runs on the 64 bit kernel.
Download here, you may need to log in. Forget about the two pages you linked to, I'm not sure how you found them, but they are old and are no longer relevant. http://www.motu.com/download/downloadmatching_downloads.html?platform_id=2&productid=14
The link to the download itself is here, again this link may not work if you don't log in first.
http://s3.amazonaws.com/motu/downloads/firewire/MOTUAudioInstaller-1.5.38352.zip
I downloaded the latest and tested it on 64 bit kernel and it worked fine, so yes, they are in fact 64 bit drivers. If you are still skeptical, just download for yourself and boot into the 64 bit kernel, you'll see that they work fine.

• Logic 9.1.5 and Lion. Interface unresponsive.

I'm experiencing a very strange issue with logic 9. The interface becomes unresponsive, I can't click on any buttons in plugin windows / transport bar / mixer page.... anywhere while the project is playing. The keyboard is equally unresponsive i.e. I can't stop with space bar etc. The clicks / keystrokes are being recognised by them system as after a while, usually about 5-10 seconds, the messages get throughout to logic. If a 'stop' message get though from the keyboard or transport bar stop button, as soon as the project stops... I can see all the clicks/keystrokes in the buffer all get executed at once in a bulk dump, which can be in the hundreds of commands if I get pareticulary frustrated. This is not a problem with overloading the audio engine. My quad core mac is only showing 1 or 2 notches of activity on all cores in logics system performance meter and activity monitor shows I'm only using %10 of available CPU. The rest of the system is unaffected. Safari / Mail etc work as usual. Closing any other open apps doesn't help. It happens on my MOTU ultralite and Apogee Duet. It happens at any I/O buffer setting and any size reasonable size project. I have one open now with 15 tracks and about 20 or so plugins, my mac should barely even register this on the performance meter.
Other users are reporting the same issues here and note the Logic 7's interface is near instantaneous on the same system.

• Logic Express, Reason 4 and a MacBook Pro.

I'm looking to get a MacBook Pro (15" @ 2.4 Ghz C2D) and have been writing in Reason 4 pretty exclusively on our current project. In the past I was using Cubase SX2, Reason and a PCI Audio card. So, I'm looking to find a Intel Compatible audio application and most likely not going to get the latest version of Cubase SX (or whatever it's called now). Nice application but I'm ready to move to something else.
A couple of questions... Will logic work nicely with the MBPro? Is the 15.4" screen tolerable with Logic Express? I'll still have the Dual 1.8 G5 w/ 4 GB of memory but wan to try and be totally portable. Also, for a simple two channel input how is the quality on the 1/8" jack? Should I look for a nice 2 channel input/output USB audio card?
That is all my questions for now.
Thanks.
Bill

I may have mispoke - I need to be able to transfer pictures from my Samsung phone to my Macbook Pro - I have had them talk with the bluetooth but that only worked once. I would like to be able to use a cord and have the Macbook recognize the phone - how do I do that?

• Logic 7.2.2 and G5 and other Power PC Macs??

I think Logic users would like (and deserve) a clear statement from Apple regarding whether Logic 7.2.2 is recommended for Power PC Macs or not - -and what improvements or bug fixes - if any - it contains that are relevant to PowerPC machines. In the meantime, I suggest that forum participants with G4 or G5 Macs who have installed Logic 7.2.2 describe their experiences with this update. Thanks

been testing on an intel mini mac (single core + 512ram) with motu 828 mk2.
i know its not exactly a daw machine, but i'm testing things out before i upgrade to a new intel machine...
so far i have had 2 crashes where i cant force quit. well i can but it dont do nothin'... first time i pressed restart in finder and computer froze during the procedure. second time i thought i'll try something different, so i pressed shut down in finder and it worked!
the crash itself is strange cos i dont have time to do anything other than to click on file menu to load a track and glitch > spinning beach ball.
i might try trashing the prefs later...
other than that i have not really noticed much else. dunno about it sounding punchier/more bass, how come PDC would affect this?
something to do with phase maybe...

• Logic Pro 8 not seeing MOTU Symphonic Instrument or MOTU Ethno Instrument

I've installed Logic Pro 8.0.2, MOTU Symphonic Instrument 1.1.3, and MOTU Ethno Instrument 1.0.1. Logic 8 does not recognize the MOTU plug-ins. The stand-alone MOTU apps work, MOTU Ethno Instrument.component and MSI.component are both properly installed in Library>Audio>Plug-ins, and both MOTU plug-ins are available in Garageband.
Are there any known issues with MOTU and Logic Pro 8?

What does Motu tech support have to say about this?

• Logic Pro 7.2 and Tascam FW-1884 Not Working

I recently upgraded to Logic Pro 7.2 and I'm using a Tascam FW-1884 as my audio interface / Control Surface. Everything was working fine in 7.1.1, but now it doesn't work correctly. When I press buttons and faders on the Tascam I see MIDI information changing in Logic, but not in any of the correct places. When I click on the screen controls in Logic the Tascam does reflect the same on the board, but not the other way around? I updates the Tascam Plug-In (.bundle) file, the Control Panel, and even the Firmware. Still does not work. The faders go up on boot-up and down when I quit the program, but that is it. Any help would be greatly appreciated? I'm using a Mac G5, dual 2.7ghz processors, and 2.5 gigs in RAM. My gut is telling me it's something with the upgrade, but maybe others have resolved the problem without reprogramming every control one by one.
