Logic 9.1: no more mp3 bounce in 32-bit mode

Hi all,
I wanted to make it clear in the subject line that I'm not opening Logic in 64-bit mode ('coz mp3 bounce is greyed out in that mode)...
How I reproduce the issue (works every time):
- Open my project. Is in 24/96.
- Press Bounce.
- Choose mp3, with any options
- Press Bounce.
- Dialog appears asking if it's OK to downsample (as 48kHz is max for mp3).
- Click OK.
- Wait.... no file. I do get the 'bouncing' and 'normalising' notifications, but no temp filename notification.
The same issue bit me in 8.0 but was fixed in 81. & 9.0. In 8.1. & 9.0, I did indeed get the temp filename notification.
Anyone else out there with the same problem? Any solution? Would be very much appreciated - it's driving me mad .
Cheers

Sounds like the Logic pro app itself has got some issues with it's permissions so the setting is not being saved correctly as LP9 in 32bit mode will and does work fine under Mavericks...
So.. Maybe it's time to use BatCHMod to fix the permissions for the Logic Pro app...
Download the app from here...
(Use the 1.6.3 version and not the latest beta....)
Run BatCHmod and select the Logic Pro 9 app from inside your applications folder..  using the File... button in BatCHMod
Check all the R W and X boxes... so they all have a checkmark in them and not a - sign or blank.. You may have to click on them multiple times to get a check...
Also check the Change Ownership and Priviledges.... Unlock...and Clear ACL's... checkboxes (but do not check Clear xattrs)
Finally check the "apply to enclosed files and folders' option... and then press Apply..
Wait about 30 secs... Quit Batchmod and then try and run LP9 in 32bit mode from the applications folder.. using the Get Info to change mode.. and not any shortcuts you may have placed elsewhere like the Dock..

  • Logic X won't start in 32-bit mode

I just clean installed Mavericks, and I need to launch Logic in 32-bit just once to scan for all my audio units (yes, even though they are 64-bit, this is what I had to do last time), but when I 'get info' on Logic, the check box to launch it in 32-bit mode isn't there! It's there on Safari, so I know it's possible in Mavericks. Help!

    ...and in addition..
Logic Pro X does not support 32bit AU Plugins....
If you wish to use older plugins that haven't been updated to 64bit AU versions... in Logic Pro X, then 32 Lives is probably your best option....

  • Logic Pro 9 lags on Lion, even in 64-bit

I recently upgraded to Lion because of my side-activities as an aspiring iOS developer (no iOS5.1 SDK on Snow Leopard).
Since then, I noticed that Logic Pro MIDI reactiveness has hit the bottom: hitting a key on my keyboard doesn't take effect as soon as expected, making it impossible to play live.
I went to Logic and Reason and made them run in 64-bit mode, this kinda improved the situation but it still is non playable.
Has anyone some idea of how I could make Logic Pro fly like... one week ago, in 32-bit mode on Snow Leopard?
For info, my sound card is an M-Audio Fast-Track Ultra, and I use a CME UF8 USB as a master keyboard, as well as an Akai MPD-26 controller.

  • Mp3 bounce stopped working suddenly

    hi folks,
Logic 8.0.2 / Osx 10.4.11 / Intel Mac Pro quad Core / duet
    No special plugins used
    No UAD / SSL cards
    Very vanilla setup.
Want to bounce two track stereo 96khz/24 bit wav to mp3 and it just will not work. I used to be able to bounce stuff to mp3 and it would work, but now--nothing. IT does the bounce, and right where it should do the sample conversion, the progress dialog disappears and...thats it. no mp3, logic is fine, but i cannot get an mp3 to bounce from logic.
Any ideas on what I can look at? please help! Thanks

bumpity bump--am I the only one who experiences this? Its very frustrating. I have bounced mp3s plenty of times in the past--only recently is mp3 bounce failing. I can bounce to cd / aif / m4a etc. mp3 is totally doa, suddenly too.

  • Logic 9.1.5 using more CPU in 64 bit mode

    Yesterday updated to Logic 9.1.5
Have opened up projects in both 32 bit and 64 bit mode (but only 32 bit kernel as my mac pro is too old for 64 bit kernel).
Projects in 64 bit mode spike the CPU meter, and result in clicks and pops during playing.
Quit Logic, change to 32 bit mode, reopen same project. CPU meter reading lower, no clicks and pops on playback.
Now its an older machine (Mac Pro 1,1) and I am also running Vienna Ensemble Pro with a 9 GB template loaded up, but not connected to these projects I am opening, naturally this is taking resources.
Anyone else notice similar results, that the 64 bit mode causes projects to use more CPU?

In 64bit mode, are you using any 32bit 3rd party plugins within these projects? The 32bit bridge might be taking a hit on the cpu. From my experience, Logic in 64bit mode with 64 bit plugins has slighly less cpu usage than 32 bit mode. You may want to try a project with only Logic plugins in both modes for a true comparison on your machine.

  • Not able to open Logic 9 in 32 bit mode

    Hello,
Even if I have checked "open in 32 bit mode" checked in the Logic Pro app, it still opens in 64 bit mode. Why is this happening? I need to run 32 bit mode for certain plug-ins, and to be able to bounce audio to movie. Please help!
    Thanks,
    Joe

well I am going to assume that the application marked photoshop is the 32-bit application, since the other on is marked 64-bit and I don't see one 32-bit. in any case it still not recognizing pen pressure and i have the newest drivers. The only thing I can think of now is that wacom drivers are interfering with it some how since they don't get along, although I was pretty sure i got rid of all wacom software.
Sigh, it's starting to look like I have to format my computer

  • Cpu overloading in 64 bit mode logic 9

    Hey
I have a IMAC i3 3.06 with 12g of ram. Some songs overload the computer especially 2 of them and those songs consist of 5 apple instruments and no fx. Kinda odd right? I changed my buffer size to 1024 from 64 and it kinda helped. Logic is running 64 bit mode (I unchecked open in 32 bit and 64 bit show when loading logic).

No, I don't think it's odd. Software Instruments are the most CPU intensive. Also, different instruments have different processing requirements, even if you don't have any other FX in the chain.
I've got a top of the line MacBook Pro, and I have songs that start to bog down at 5 SI in GarageBand so I just lock those tracks. I just got Logic Pro so I don't know what the equivalent is here; I don't know if you can "lock" tracks, or if you just bounce them to an Audio track.
But I'd say basically, it doesn't seem that odd to me that you'd have a performance bottleneck on that iMac. Also, for playback, as opposed to recording, larger buffers are better. I'd stick with 1024 or higher.

  • Logic Pro 9.1 32 bit mode

    Hi everyone,
I have recently updated to a new Mac OS X 10.6.2 and Logic Pro 9.1. I use M-Audio ProjectMix 1/0 Firewire Audio Interface. I have set Logic in 32 bit mode from get info. And in preferences > audio it is ticked in 24 bit for recording. Does this mean that audio recorded is in 24 bit? Do I un-tick it to record in 32 bit or does it automatically record in 32 bit? I am a little confused.
    Thanks,
    Peacheach

It records in 24-bit with the check box enabled - this is more than enough for recording and exceeds the dynamic range of convertors.
    16-bit when unchecked.
Do not confuse how an application is compiled (32-bit or 64-bit) with how audio is recorded or processed - they are completely different things.

  • What is going on ?!?!? I can't start logic pro in 64-bit mode

I have been struggling with this issue for a while now, but I haven't made any progress. I am unable to start Logic Pro 9 in 64-bit mode. And when I say that, I mean that if I select the Logic Pro app in Finder, and say "Get Info," there is no "Start in 32-bit mode" option like all of the tutorials say to do. It used to show up, and I was able to start in 64-bit mode just fine, but suddenly, the option is not there, and the app is starting in 32-bit mode.
My Mac/OSX have been running so well, that I'm not too knowledgeable about where to even start looking for a solution. I am very comfortable with the Terminal, etc, so I can follow directions well, but I don't know where this problem stems from.
The machine is running in 64-bit mode, ie, if I do uname -a, it does return that the system is running in 64-bit mode. Logic runs just fine outside of not starting in 64-bit mode, but I want/need to be taking advantage of all of the RAM I spent so much money on.
I'm not sure what info would be needed, but here goes:
    Mac Pro 3,1 (early 2008), 8-core 2.8Ghz.
    10GB RAM
    4 SATA HDDs
NVidia Geforce 8800 GT 512MB RAM
OS X Mavericks with all current updates
Logic Pro 9.1.x, again,  with all updates available.
    Steinberg UR22 audio interface (USB)
Also, I'm not sure if it matters, but I also have Windows 7 installed through Bootcamp, and it is running fine, and recognizes 32-bit/64-bit apps just fine.
I hope that's enough for someone to be able to tell me where to start looking. I really don't get it. This was happening when I first installed Mavericks. I ended up doing a fresh install from USB stick, and everything was going fine. I don't think that an update has changed things, as the last time I opened Logic, it did open in 64-bit mode. Suddenly though, that option is unavailable.
Is there a plist entry I can edit that will force it into 64-bit mode?
What part of the OS is in charge of this type of thing?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Could be corrupted preferences.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Remove the  com.apple.logic.pro.plist  file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro.
Be sure and use the ~ character in the path name.

  • How can I get my installed plugins to show up in Logic after ive installed the plugin discs? ive tried changing the bit mode. it STILL doesn't work.???

I tried installing a program but when i open logic and scan the audio units, it doesnt come up. Even if i change the bit mode, it still doesnt show up. I even tried restarting my machine..Can anyone help me or give me some ideas.
i just wanna get this plugin to work.

Have you confirmed that the plug-in installed to one of the locations where Logic might find it? Most plug-ins go to /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components. Some (rarely) install to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components (where "~" is your user folder). Look in both locations and see if the plug-in is actually there.
When installing plug-ins, if you are offered options as to what format to install, be sure to include Audio Units. Logic will not see other formats like VST, RTAS, AAX, TDM, etc. If you use other software that recognizes those formats, it's fine to install them too, just be sure you don't deselect Audio Units.
Finally, if you're sure the plug-in is installed to the right place, open the Audio Units Manager in Logic and check to see if the plug-in passed validation. Go to the main menu and choose Logic Pro > Preferences > Audio Units Manager. Check to see if your plug-in is listed there. If there's not a check mark next to it in the "Logic" column, that means it failed validation. If so, the "Compatibilty" column will tell you why. Keep in mind that if the AU is 32-bit, you have to launch Logic in 32-bit mode to see it here. Likewise, 64-bit plug-ins show up in the manager in 64-bit mode.

  • How do I stop Logic Pro X from trying to load a 32 bit plug-in that's no longer installed

How do I stop Logic Pro X from trying to load a 32 bit plug-in that's no longer installed?  I noticed it occurring on projects where I used Miroslav Philharmonik. I keep getting prompted when opening the projects. I uninstalled Miroslav thinking it would stop, but it didn't.

Assuming you are talking about the boxed set of Logic Studio (Logic Pro 9) on DVDs the only solutions are to either borrow or purchase an external CD/DVD drive and use that with your new MBP.
Amazon sells a very reasonably priced 'Amazon Basics' external CD/DVD drive suitable for the process...
    http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Portable-External-Optical-Drive/dp/B003M0NT1M /ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416924310&sr=8-1&keywords=CD+DVD+external+drive+amazon+ basics
Do NOT try and copy Logic across from your Mac to your MBP using something like Time Machine or Migration Assistant... 99% of the time, doing so results in all kind of weird issues later on.
Just install Logic pro 9 plus all it's content from scratch using the DVDs provided with Logic Studio Boxed set.....

  • Logic 9 not opening in 64-bit mode since installing Logic X.

    Hi all,
Has anyone else had problems opening Logic 9 in 64-bit mode since installing Logic X? The option to open Logic 9 in 32-bit mode (in get info) is not selected.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Emily

    Okay.. Suggestions...
    1) Try running Logic Pro from inside the Applications folder and not from the dock....just in case the dock shortcut is having issues...
    2) If you bought LP9 from the App Store, try downloading and reinstalling the App from the purchased tab in the Mac App Store App.
    3) Download Batchmod from here....
    http://www.lagentesoft.com/batchmod/
Run it and select your Logic Pro 9 application from it's file selector
Now set up Batchmod as shown in the following screenshot... (leave the owner setting as it is..mine says nigel.. yours will say something else) and press apply
Now try running in 64bit mode again....
