Logic 9 au plugins.

Hi i have recently installed Logic pro 9 and have tried adding additional 3rd party au plugins to it by adding them into the audio-plugins-components. I then have rebooted logic and looked in audio units section in my effects area and they do not seem to be there. Does anyone Know what i am doing wrong?

Yeh they show but the nodes section isn't ticked nor can i tick it.
That's irrelevant. Most 3rd party Instruments are node incompatible.
Are they effects or instruments? You can't find instruments looking in effect slots, you'll have to look in the *I/O section* of an Instrument track to see the Instruments.

  • Logic is missing plugins.  How do i fix this?

My old hard drive failed.  I reinstalled logic on the new one.  I was able to transfer old projects to my new hard drive, but now Logic is missing plugins.  This is the message i get
I can't use the plugins in a new project either.  First, when i went to install Logic again i was missing Audio Content One Disc.  And thought this was the problem, but then i was able to get Audio Content one online and continued installing all my other disks.  Once the installation process was complete, and I opened Logic nothing changed at all.
Logic Studio- Logic Pro 9.1.1 running in 32 bit  Academic Version

    Hi Jack
Hope you managed to resolve your issue, I am a Logic 9 user with similar circumstances, moved hard drive by cloning and found the missing plugins. Difference with my situation is that the Plugins were third party and the native plugins were preserverd.
So in your instance your native plugins may be effected by a permissions, worth checking. So you could open Disk Utility > repair permissions on the Macintosh HD boot disk.
If not I have also read trashing the AudioUnits cache. It is here: /Users/'you'/Library/Caches
Then doing Audion Units rescan can help repair issues.
Choose Logic > Preference > Audio Units manager > rescan.

  • Getting logic pro 6 presets into logic pro 7 plugin menus

I have both logic pro 6 and logic pro 7. at one point when i first got logic pro 7 (logic pro 6 already installed) i had a menu in the plugin drop downs for both logic 6 pro and logic pro 7 plugins presets. how can i accomplish this again?

When I did this I just merged the libraries into the 7 directory after deleting dupes with proj man and then aliased this folder for Logic 6. I had 1 folder which both went to at the end of the day, with no duplicates. I was lazy and since I am not a preset guy I just let the V6 files with the same name go to the trash, then copied the folder to the other systems.

My guess is you are simply clicking the 'Red X' in the top left of the window to close the current window and not closing the project....
To close the project, go to file/close project in the menu bar or...
    press Option + Command + W

  • Mixing and Matering with Logics Audio Effects Plugins

I have a general question for those using Logic Pro to mix and perhaps master music. I've had the software for approximately a year-and-a-half. In that time I've auditioned several high-end, third-party, native AU plugins for EQ and compression (Waves SSL, PSP, Sonalksis, etc.) Certainly they sound great. But in the end, I often find myself getting just as good a sound with Logic's own plugs after a little bit of work. It's not as quick, mind you - and you really do have to play to get to know the plugins well because they're capable of some horrible sounds too. But the good stuff is in there.
I see Logic's EQ's and compressors trashed sometimes in forums and I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Yes, I'm familiar with UAD and the quality/authenticity of their emulations. But at the end of the day, all I need is a great sound - not a particular historic sound, as good as some of those may be.
The one thing I haven't been able to hear is Focusrite's Liquid Mix and I'm tempted to buy one just to hear it, with, of course the option to return it if it's nothing special.
So here's what I want to know - and I am just curious. Are any of you out there mixing in the box with just Logic's plugins and really getting great results? Or perhaps mixing with mostly Logic plugins and a few indispensible others (L1 comes to mind). If so, are you mixing pop/rock, R&B, acoustic - basically, something other than electronic/dance?
    Thanks

Are any of you out there mixing in the box with just Logic's plugins and really getting great results? Or perhaps mixing with mostly Logic plugins and a few indispensible others
My 'indispensible others' would be Izotope's Ozone, PSP Vintage Warmer and to a lesser extent TriTone's ColorTone Pro.
But in the end, I often find myself getting just as good a sound with Logic's own plugs after a little bit of work. It's not as quick, mind you - and you really do have to play to get to know the plugins well
I agree completely. I'm often reading here that this plug or that gadget is a must have - actually, learning what's already in the Logic Pro suite is often the solution. The essential ingredient are ears, and the ability to know what sound you're looking for, as opposed to twiddling in the hope that you'll come across a happy accident.
because they're capable of some horrible sounds too
If you want to hear some truly awful sounds, Ozone can destroy a mix in short order

  • Logic Not Loading Plugins on Macbook Pro

    Hi Everyone,
I just bought a new Macbook Pro, installed Logic, upgraded to 7.2.2 and then installed my plugins that I have been using on my G5 with no problem. However, for some reason, most of my plugins are not showing up in the Macbook version. I know that some of them might not be compatable with the Intel system yet but some of them, like Battery and Electronic Instruments are but they're still not showing up. I know that Logic should at least recognize the plugins from Native Instruments because they are all authorized and ready to go. The plugin thingies in Plugins-Components are all there but still not being recognized. I had Logic do a rescan but only the same few plugins loaded up. I can't think of anything else to add except that any advice would be helpful.

Up like Bee Jay and Jord say. The 'problem' is that logic is running native universal binary, and the plugins are emulated under Rosetta, hence Logic won't see and load them even if you're qualified to run them.
Might be an opportunity to ***** at NI for taking so long to barf the Uni Bin versions out. Especially since they're one of the people interviewed by Apple in one of their 'how to convert plugins to uni bin' articles I posted earlier today, and they mentioned how simple it is... but still no UniBin.

  • Logic scans for plugins

when i start logic it scans for this NI akoustik piano plugin i had...I had a demo but deleted it because it was annoying me, and now it still scans for the plugin but fails...this causes me to abort the scan...which causes logic to not pick up any of my other plugins. how can i make logic stop checking for the akoustic piano. I cant figure out how to delete/ reset this preference.
    thanks.

One way is to look in Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ directory and remove the Akoustik Piano plug-in.
Another way is using an Audio Unit plug-in manager like Audio Unit Manager:
    http://www.audiofile-engineering.com/audiounitmanager/
Launch this and uncheck the offending plug-in and it'll move it into another folder "Components (Disabled)"

  • Logic's Amplitube Plugin Won't Recieve MIDI Signals

I have gone through everything. I have an Behringer FCB1010 which works with MainStage 2, Amplitube 3, and everything. I even have it working with Logic's pan, volume, and pedalboard. Pretty impressive stuff!
Here's the problem. I want to be able to control Ampltiube 3 with my footpedal as a plugin, but it will only work as a standalone. As soon as I click "learn" in the plugin, no matter what button I press on my board, it won't learn it. I also cannot get a learn command going in "Controller Assignments."
What is wrong here? Am I missing some sort of setup in Logic to get this to work? Has anybody been able to control Amplitube as plugin with anything? Any help would be appreciated.

18 hours later I figured it out. It turns out that you have to your 3rd Party plug-ins in the "Controls" window rather than the graphical window in order to program each control. You could program it in the graphical unit, but you won't be able to see your controls working. You can only see that in the basic window. Either way, you have to learn each function through "Control Assignments" and through the plugin's learn mode.
I do find it a shame you cannot view third party plugins in a graphical mode, but then again I am not surprise as I've had some graphic window issues before with other plugins. Apple advisors have said that is a con when working with plugins in Logic, functional but not perfect.
Anyways, the problem is solved and hopefully I save somebody the from their painstaking quest of finding out why their program isn't working.

  • Problems w/ Logic Pro 8 plugins GUI

    hello all,
I am setting up a small pre-production studio at home....I have installed Logic Pro 8 and all of the updates on my Mac Mini 2.0GHz proscessor w/ 2Gb of RAM. Logic Pro 8 is working just fine. I haven't yet installed any third party plug-ins at all. But the GUI to ALL of the plugins that come standard with Logic Pro 8 does not appear. The plugins is recognized and i can playback sound and eveything, but the GUI to "all" of the plug-ins will not display.....I have tried removing the preferences and I checked to make sure that my displays meet the required settings for Logic.....Can someone please help me with this? Has anyone had this problem? I would really appreciate some feedback asap.....
system: mac mini (os x 10.5.3)
software: logic pro 8 w/ current updates

Yes, everybody who tries to run Logic Pro 8 on Mavericks. It does not work!
Either do not use Mavericks, or upgrade Logic Pro to a newer version - I think everything after 9.1.5 seems to work. Logic Pro X - of course - also works on Mavericks.

  • Logic & non-LPX plugin not available

    Hello folks..
I'm using logic 10.0.3 with Mountain lion 10.8.5.  Sometimes when I initiate a plugin (logic or non-logic plugin)  I get a RED circle in the insert tab indicating that the plugin is not available.  if I keep trying, the plugin will appear.  Has anyone seen this behavior before?
    Thanks

One thing that can cause this is if you try and load a plugin when Logic pro X is still running.......

  • Undocumented (awesome!) Logic 9 feature - plugin parameter reordering

Dunno if this has been posted here or not yet, but I'll repost because it's my favourite single best feature of LP9 so far:-
Lostmemories discovered this here, and I just verified it works with third-party plugins as well as Logic's own.
    http://www.macosxaudio.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46943
This means now you can reorder (for convenience) and/or delete plugin parameters from your control surface displays.
I've wanted this feature for a long time.
This is great - you could set up all your instruments to have a standard setup of plugin parameters (say, filters on first page of controls, then envelopes, then oscillators). Or just remove parameters that get in the way that you never need to tweak via your knobs.
Or just reorder the parameters so things are grouped together in a logical way.
(I seldom want all (often hundreds or more) of parameters displayed for my instruments, I just want the standard quick-tweak stuff for the most part, oscillators, envelopes, filters and a few other things.)
Will take some time to set up, especially with a lot of plugins, but it's a thing you tackle bit by bit over time. You could also potentially store different "sets" of parameter orderings in backup copies of the plist files.
    I say again - Awesomeness!

I posted that in the thread I linked to above. Check it out.
In short - let's say you want to reorder the control surface params for plugin "SuperClipperDistoFun".
Locate it's plugin settings folder in
    /Users/YOU/Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-in Settings/SuperClipperDistoFun
Call up that plugin on your control surface and note the order of the parameters, counting from 0.
Copy a csparameterorder.plist file in that directory from the factory plugin settings, and edit it. So, if you want parameter 13 to come first, move the string element numbered 13 to the first position.
If you want to remove parameter 9, then delete the string element numbered 9.
Save the plist, and re-instantiate the plugin - on your control surface, you'll now see the parameters coming up in the new order.

  • Can Logic Pro 7 Plugins be used with Logic Express

Hello, does anyone know if you can use the instrument plugins in Logic Pro 7 with Logic Express.

The cool advanced features that are part of Logic Pro are embedded in the application and can't be used as plug-ins on other systems such as Express. For good reason, eh?

  • Leopard + Logic 8 + old plugins

About an hour ago I got my brand new Mac Pro. New mac pro means Leopard and that probably means incompatibility with some of my plugins.
    Problem 1 - Spectrasonics
I cannot seem to find anything on the matter on the Spectrasonics website and as a frequent user of both Stylus and Trilogy I'd really like to know if both plugins will work on a leopard/intel/logic8 system (although they don't have a specific version for it).
    Anyone with experience on this?
Problem 2 - EWQLSO Platinum Pro XP
Although I plan to run this library from Kontakt 3, I think I still need to install it so I can register it.... am I right? Anyone using EWQLSO on an intel using leopard? Before I ruin anything: will the normal installer do the trick (with rosetta)?
    Thanks in advance! Alex

    Hi,
Spectrasonics had a specific installer for Logic 8 for Stylus RMX. I believe Trilogy and Atmosphere are already universal binary (not 100% on that). But RMX is running great under L8 and Leopard. Make sure to install version 1.6.1.
In regards to the East/West library, yeah, you are definitely going to have to run that in either K2 or K3. Authorizing it is tricky. I had to install it using the original installer, and then authorized using the new Authorization manager. The final step was dropping in a .plist file in my preferences to get it to authorize properly. If you search on NI's support, you'll see that step I'm talking about. Once you go through all the hoops, all should be fine.
    Hope this help.

  • Logic 8 Ducker plugin causing audio hang-up

when the stop button or the space bar is pressed during playback, the ducker plugin with the lookahead feature turned on causes the audio of the sidechained track to hang-up repeating a small half second sample over and over. in this case a voiceover announcement. I've tried re-booting and re-estblishing the plugin but it keeps doing it. when the lookahead feature is turned off it works great but I need the music bed to start ducking before the voiceover announcement begins for a smoother effect.
Logic 7.2 did not have this problem.
Also, both Logic 7.2 and Logic 8 puts the duration of the lookahead feature at the top of a bounced file creating the need to re-trim the beginning of every bounced file.

    HI Sereen & Pancenter,
Great suggestions. I did follow the instructions that at the link Pancenter listed.....But no change in the results. Still crashing w/the Transform/Transpose....features.
Otherwise all the other "Transform" features work ....just not "traspose".
I am on Logic 8. I probably will upgrade to Logic 9 to see if this bug gets fixed. I guess I need to do that anyway as Logic 8 also won't controll a weighted yamaha keyboard (USB) that I bought about a year ago. Logic kept trying to blame Yamaha  and Yamaha was blaming Logic. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.
And Pancenter you are right - the Terabyte is storage. the RAM I have is 2 gig.
Thanks so much! Great forum support!

  • Logic pro x plugin & Surround Settings

Using Logic Pro X and I use a .caf surround file in my project. I'd like to add an audio FX plug in on the output prior to bouncing in Stereo. Seems this function is disabled. All my channels are set to Stereo Out. I find that when using a project without a surround file, this option is available. Anyone else have this?

I solved it. There was one single output set to surround. By changing it to stereo, the option to add an Audio FX returned.
