Logic 9 - hanging notes after stop

Everytime i stop an arrange, all the pads, basses etc keep playing (they just hang on the note where i stopped it.)
its like 'note off when stop' is not working ...
any ideas ?

The hanging notes are caused by using the sidechain! Even deactivated plugins will cause this. Take out the sidechain and it's fine.
Yeah, I fiddled with it, but it is a very unpredictable bug. Sometimes they hang, sometimes they don't. Also, sending a reset message (all note off, CC123) from my MIDI keyboard doesn't work. As if the problem is 'beyond midi' somehow.
It is strange , this behaviour, since you would expect the sidechain to have nothing to do with MIDI in the first place, it sidechains audio...
Do you happen to know how old this bug is?

I'm having a problem whereby after stopping playback, the currently playing notes are stuck (sustain indefinitely). I find notes always stick, whether hitting the space bar or clicking the stop icon.
- I'm using Logic 9.0.2 with default settings on Snow Leopard 10.6.1.
- My audio interface is an Edirol FA-101.
- My controller is a Yamaha Motif via the Yamaha USB MIDI driver 1.2.
I thought perhaps it was the MIDI driver (not officially supported on Snow Leopard), so I uninstalled it and switched to my Edirol UM-880, with new 1.0 Snow Leopard driver.
Now I get the same problem with the space bar, but the stop icon works most of the time, but not always!
What is going on?!

In Logic try going to "Preferences": "Midi": "Reset Messages": and tick the first box "Control 123 (All Notes Off)". That should stop the notes hanging every time you hit stop. I have the same problem with a Motif XS Rack. I find that also ticking the bottom option "Send Used Instrument Settings on Reset" helps keep Logic playing the correct sound on the Motif (assuming you are using Midi Patch/Bank messages to select individual sounds. Hope this helps.

Its likely to be caused by Ozone5.. many people have reported that plugin is currently quite unstable and are awaiting updates from izotope to fix the problem... No ETA has been given by izotope for the fix however...
Also several of your plugins are out of date (Zebra2, Clariphonic, Ozone itself.. to name but a few,)
Finally, you are running an older version of Logic Pro X (10.0.3)...and I would normally suggest you update to the latest version but... if you have a USB2 audio interface do not update to 10.0.5 at this time.... unless you know it will work correctly with the new version of LPX.

Logic 9.1: hitting stop I often get Logic hanging up

On some point of the song, hitting stop, Logic hangs up like an old LP..
Any other encounter this issue?

Thanks...you may be right - I don't think the installation is faulty but maybe it thinks it is, because I have transferred all my settings/presets etc. to my user directory, not the root (or whatever the top level is called*), which is (was) empty, as I don't like the "factory" content showing up. To fool it I logged in to the "root" and let it download to there...sure enough it installed a whole load of basic content at the root level, so leaving my user level stuff untouched.
Unlike a few other people Logic then managed to boot up (though was very slow?)...it tried to connect again to the content download but I stopped it....wonder how long it will be before it forces me to (or whether I can delete the root level stuff without upsetting it)
* I know root probably means something else but I can't think of the right term right now - it's the directory which is at HD/Library/Audio etc rather than Nicholos2/Library/Audio)

Product: e-business suite (11.5.9)
Platform: Win XP 5.1 (SP2)
We have performed a new installation of ebusiness suite in our windows platform.
Installtion went with out any problem.
But we can not start/stop the fullfilment server. While trying to start/stop the server we are getting follwing error message:

Hi everybody,
I started testing embedded OpenMQ 4.4 build yesterday and was wondering if it would be suitable for our test cases. I needed to start and stop a broker almost around every test method. So I intuitively used start() and stop() methods for it. Of course test case failed after second test method :) I did some debugging directly in source code and found out that stop() closes server socket in port mapper. When second start() is invoked it determines whether the server socket is bound and in case it isn't, it stops the broker.
But to the point... is it expected not to rebind the port when start is called after stop or is it classified as a bug that needs to be solved? Because if it would be possible to start and stop the broker repeatedly the instance broker can be reused and no init/shutdown needs to be called...

As I'm sure you know, that's the first promoted build of MQ 4.4 and it will have more testing before the final release.
I would have expected repeated calls to start() and stop() to work, but as you have found, it doesn't, and I can reproduce your error easily.
However it does look as if you can make repeated iterations of the complete init()/start()/stop()/shutdown() cycle, so this might be worth trying as a workaround.
Yes, this is a bug which I have logged internally: we'll investigate before the final 4.4 build.

- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

Logic will not open with out external soundcard after Mavericks upgrade

Recently upgraded my Mac to Mavericks and my Logic 9.1.8 (32 Bit) worked fine. I have a Digidesign 002 rack which I was using as an external soundcard. These all worked fine until I updated my Digi drivers. Now Logic will not open unless the Digi is connected, Logic has also been updated but still no joy. Logic freezes when opening on 'checking midi drivers...'
Is there a preference I need to change or do I have to remain connected to my Digi forever?! lol

As you will see, this sort of problem with Avid/Digi Midi drivers has been around for a long time now.....

Safari hangs: not enough program memory, while 90G HD and 4G ram, OS re-installed, removed files etc. (mac book pro, leopard)

Safari hangs direct after starting up. Rainbow bol rotates around one hour after which a message is shown: "not enough program memory"
More than 90G free on HD, even removed more files and installed OS and programs again. Nothing helps.

SIG, thanks for your reaction. After reading my question again I understand it was not clear.
The reason I mentioned the 90G free HD space was the information I found on internet about my problem in which it was assumed there was not enough RAM memory and the processor uses the HD for SWAP files?
In any way my problem is still there and I like to add some information:
MACBookPro OSX 10.6.7, 2.4 GHz duo, 4GB DDR3 RAM, L2 cache 3MB, 250 GB HD (90 GB free).
What I have done untill now:
Re-install OSX plus programs
Reboot in safe mode (cold start with shift C pressed)
A number of reports generated after a forced Safari stop were send to Apple. (by the way what are they doing with these? besides not helping me?).
Just today I learned where to find the Safari cache file's which I will empty when I am back from work tonight.
I hope, with this additional information you have some more suggestions. In any way I will come back with the result of emptying the Safari cache.

Logical standby Slow after starting auditing

I have logical standby, which was keeping with the primary database, then we started auditing on the primary database(Database auditing.) , After starting auditing my Logical standby not keeping with primary, after doing reasearch we found out that there are so many sql statement from sys schema on AUD$ table, and they are doing full tablescan on it, which is of 3GB as off now. Also This table is own by sys and by default all sys objects should be excluded from logical standby apply. But this is not, when I tryed to skip it by my self, then apply process gives ora-600 and stops.
I think it is a bug or what ???
Any help on this will be appriciated.

After taking my time we decided to truncate the sys.AUD$ on the LOGICAL STANDBY and that solved our problem.Now LS is catching up fast as I can see the progree is verry fast.
Still if anybody from "ORACLE CORP" is reading this thread they should give us the reason why the sys.aud$ table is beging replicated on the LOGICAL STANDBY site. is this a BUG in oracle?

The download was actually the successful part! I had no issues with it timing out or anything. My problem was the actual install, after the download was complete. The installer just stopped about a quarter of the way up on "Alternative Kits" and never made it to any of the other kits. I think I'll try installing them one at a time like you said, and see what happens. Hopefully it works!

For Safari try clearing its cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
For Safari and other apps try closing all 'open'/recently used apps completely and then see if they work ok after you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Caps Lock Keyboard "G" key causes hanging notes

When I use Logic Pro 8s Caps Lock Keyboard the "G" key causes hanging notes. The only way I've found to end the hanging note is to start and stop the sequencer. This behaviour happens when auditioning instrument sounds and in Record or Record Ready mode.
It's not a mechanical problem, as the "G" key doesn't cause multiple entries in text documents etc when pressed and released quickly. It only seems to be misbehaving inside of Logic itself, when using the Caps Lock Keyboard.
Is anyone else having this trouble?
Does anyone know why it happens and/or how to fix it?

I opened up a new song, blank, and the caps lock keyboard worked fine.
seems to be a problem with older songs, which leads me to think maybe its a setting i have changed, ie when playing with uc33 midi contoller.
