Logic 9 markers keep moving on me

hi,
this has been driving me crazy for some time now.  pretty sure it's user error and hoping someone can help.  early on in a project i like to set up markers in the global track for song sections.  once done, i lock them so they'll stay in position.  then, as i start recording more tracks, the markers will move on me.  sometimes new ones get added that i'm pretty sure i'm not adding.  can anyone here tell me what i might be doing wrong here or at the very least point me in the right direction.  it'd really help out the workflow here.
thanks in advance,
dave

Are you perhaps changing the tempo of the song as your work progresses?
By locking the markers (or regions), you are fixing them to an absolute Timecode position eg 01:03:24:00. At a cartain tempo, that may happen at bar 40, but if you change the tempo, then the time position will occur at maybe bar 41 beat 3, and then your marker will shift as well. So, unless you intend your markers to be fixed to an absolute time, rather leave them unlocked.
Regarding the unwanted and e unexpected markers:
When you have a cycle set in the bar ruler, you can grab it and drag down and a new marker will appear. Maybe you're doing this by accident?
Just a few thoughts....hope they help.

  • Batch Export Trick for Logic using Markers and XLD

I've always wanted apple to implement batch export of multiple audio files from logic using markers as delimiters. So you can mix a concert and export it in one go without having to hang around and re-start bouncing for each track.
Now you can do this (albeit in a two step process) using Logic 9.1 and the free and wonderful XLD!
Just place markers in your project and bounce as AIFF (this is the only format that seems to work with this, so you are out of luck if your bounce file is going to be larger than 2GB). I suggest placing a marker at the very beginning of the project too so you first file is not called "Timestamp_0" or some such thing. You can even name the markers with the name you want each file to have, though keep in mind files will sort alphabetically of course once they are split if you have a specific order - so maybe preface them with 01, 02, 03, etc etc.
OK - now go get XLD (the GUI version):
    http://tmkk.hp.infoseek.co.jp/xld/index_e.html
download, install and run it. No window will appear at first. Open the preferences and choose your desired output format and options, directory, etc
drop the AIFF file onto XLD (I've put XLD into my Finder window toolbar for easy access). When it asks you to open the embedded cue sheet, say "OK" and your markers should appear as a list of CD tracks that you can play double click to play with a player interface and preview.
Then press "Decode" and voila! All your markers as separate audio files with the marker name, in whatever format (including the multiple formats option) you set XLD for.
You can even edit metadata at this stage (but first consider whether your output format supports it)
Some of the formats XLD can produce are
    AIFF
    WAV
    Apple Lossless (saves some space!)
    FLAC
    AAC
    MP3
    OGG
    etc etc
Personally I think this is an absolutely fantastic trick and am happy to have discovered it. Hope it helps you too.

Also, if you have gaps in the original session, put a marker at the end of the previous section and call it something like "end". Then you can uncheck all the "end" 'tracks' in the cue sheet and they wont be exported in XLD.
Oh and it also seems XLD will preface your marker delimited files with their 'CD track' number. Useful to keep them in order, but they will probably want to be changed if you have gaps you took out with extra "end" markers.

    Hi Deeveeay,
Try resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). When the Home screen redisplays, see if the issue has resolved itself.
    Cheers,

  • Volume levels in logic pro X keep jumping up to +5.2 and  +5.0 by itself?

Volume levels in logic pro X keep jumping up to  5.2 and  5.0 by itself. There are no plugins nor automation activated on tracks? how can i stop the track levels from jumping?
What do i do to avoid this?

I and the same problem and neither of these fixes solved it. Defintely not a controller problem as guessed.
The problem was solved by going to the step editor - similar to automation - but more hidden, and also taking place in the track at a point that I had trimmed out that heppened before the beginning of the composition.
I solved the problem by going into the step editor of the track and deleting the bar in the volume track that kept setting it, and not showing up as an automation curve.
I found this problem infuriating ,I really hope this solution helps.

  • Why is Logic Express 8 keep stopping after 2 sec, every time I press play? Help!!!

Why is Logic Express 8 keep stopping after 2 sec, every time I press play? Help!!!

Its likely to be caused by Ozone5.. many people have reported that plugin is currently quite unstable and are awaiting updates from izotope to fix the problem... No ETA has been given by izotope for the fix however...
Also several of your plugins are out of date (Zebra2, Clariphonic, Ozone itself.. to name but a few,)
Finally, you are running an older version of Logic Pro X (10.0.3)...and  I would normally suggest you update to the latest version  but... if you have a USB2 audio interface do not update to 10.0.5 at this time.... unless you know it will work correctly with the new version of LPX.

  • Macintosh HD icon keeps moving

My hard drive icon keeps moving on my desktop without me moving it.
Does anyone know what it's doing this?
thank you for any help or suggestions! Greatly appreciated.

I've found if I put any other icons too close to the hard drive icon it will move after a restart or shutdown but not after sleeping it. This will also happen if you put the hard drive icon too close to the edge of your screen.
If I keep other icons a 1/2" away I have no trouble (distance varies depending on your screen size).

  • Logic pro x keeps crashing when uploading

Logic Pro X keeps crashing whenever I want to upload or bounce my track. So I won't get a audio file of it, which means it's just in Logic and I can't share it with anything or anyone.
It starts bouncing but it closes logic when it's about half done and then gives a crash message.
Anyone know how to solve this?

Yes I am, but I solved the problem already.
I don't know why but the kick was the problem it kept crashing.
I replaced all the kicks and now it's doing okay ;p
But thanks to take time to look at this

Firefox 4.01 keeps dimming the screen after a few seconds
unless you keep moving the mouse. This is very annoying.
It doesn't do it on Explorer or while in Windows.
It is only happening since I upgraded to 4.01
It happens even on this page if I stop typing or moving the mouse.

Symantec have released an update for Norton 360 to make it compatible with Firefox 4, for details see http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US

  • Trackpoint keeps moving the cursor after I let it go.

The trackpoint on this e540 keeps moving after I let it go. The issue arrises when I move the cursor downwards - it then moves upwards on its own, sometimes for several seconds. This happens quite often, and when it happens it obviously makes clicking things hard.
I guess it doesn't matter since I'm returning it anyway because of all the issues.

Just go on to any site specialising it and find the reversal procedure.
Huntress, you have no proof this particular person was the person who jailbroke the phone, as such under legal protection not only in the USA, but also in the EU (a very high chance this user hails from either of these places) he/she cannot be held accountable for the past activities of another user and thus if he/she can restore the phone then he/she is entitled to the standard benefits of all other users.
Although I fully agree with you this if person was the person who did it then they are up a certain creek without a paddle, especially since many jailbreak processes don't have a reliable de-jailbreak process and thus can only blame himself/herself. If not though, user should return it with a face hammer to the person who sold it lol

  • Phothsop CS6 panels keep moving - Yosemite

Hey guys. The issue im having on my work computer is my panels keep moving by themselves and won't save if I fix them by manually moving them back to their locations I have on my 2nd screen. When I'm clicking on the panels they will revert to half of the screen for some reason.
Here are somethings I've attempted to resolve the bug:
    1. I've reset the workspace, deleted it, made a new one and none of these are working.
    2. Through Yosemite display preferences I do Display > Arrangement > check mirror display > uncheck mirror display which fixes the bug, but it only lasts until photoshop is restarted
    3. None of these issues happen on my main monitor if I move them all over
Currently I'm using 13.0.6 Extended with the latest Yosemite 10.10.2. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm having the same problem. I checked, then unchecked mirroring, and like you said the problem went away. It would be nice to resolve this bug though.
