Logic 9 not opening in 64-bit mode since installing Logic X.

Hi all,
Has anyone else had problems opening Logic 9 in 64-bit mode since installing Logic X? The option to open Logic 9 in 32-bit mode (in get info) is not selected.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Emily

Okay.. Suggestions...
1) Try running Logic Pro from inside the Applications folder and not from the dock....just in case the dock shortcut is having issues...
2) If you bought LP9 from the App Store, try downloading and reinstalling the App from the purchased tab in the Mac App Store App.
3) Download Batchmod from here....
http://www.lagentesoft.com/batchmod/
Run it and select your Logic Pro 9 application from it's file selector
Now set up Batchmod as shown in the following screenshot... (leave the owner setting as it is..mine says nigel.. yours will say something else) and press apply
Now try running in 64bit mode again....

Logic Pro highlight / get info and ticking "open in 32 bit mode"  it shows as ticked
    deleting user audio unit caches
running mac in 32 bit kernel mode

NOTHING ..... Logic opens in 64 bit ..... I have loads of plugins that don't run in 64 bit ... i'm waiting until everybody is singing from the same hymnbook.
    HELP PLEASE !!!!!!!

You are most likely opening some other copy of Logic that you (still) have somewhere else. There is no known issue with Logic Pro 9 not opening in 32 bit mode on any compatible Mac OS X system. As Jazz already said.

  • Itc_plugin.dll could not load in 64-bit mode after installing iTunes 12.01

    Hi,
I just updated iTunes on my Windows 8.1 Samsung Laptop to the most recent version, iTunes 12.01. Since then it's showing the following message when it starts:
"itc_plugin.dll could not load in 64-bit mode"
and a checkbox for "don't show this message again'
I don't know if this itc_plugin.dll is even important, it seems to work fine. Should I be worried? I already reinstalled iTunes to see if it were an installation problem but the error still shows.

The .dll file could be a legacy from an older version of iTunes or third party software. I don't have a copy, neither can I track down any information about it. You might want to locate it and remove it from the iTunes plugins folder or click "Don't show this message again".

  • Aperture 3 will not open in 64 bit mode

Currently running Aperture 3.0.2 (fresh install of trial version with serial number purchased online) on the latest update of Snow Leopard (2.5 GHz MBP). Today, for no apparent reason, I was unable to open Aperture in it's native 64 bit mode. I immediately receive the error message below. I am; however, able to open it up in 32 bit mode. The only recent change was the addition of Adobe CS4 Production Premium. Any thoughts?

  • Gaslight could not open in 64 bit mode

Since upgrading to Lion everytime I open iTunes I get this message. There's really no other information other than a check box saying don't show this again and a suggestion to try opening iTunes in 32 bit mode, neither of which I really care to do.
I can't find much information about what "gaslight" is. I think it may be the visualizer that comes with iTunes.

Wrong folder. You need to be looking in the iTunes Plug-ins folder in your user's home folder. The Library folder is hidden in Lion now, so you'll need to use the Go menu -> Go to Folder command in Finder and use the following path:
    /Volumes/[name of your hard drive]/Users/[your user shortname]/Library/
Then look in the iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins folder there.

  • Lightroom 2 will not launch in 64 bit mode on mac

I have a mac pro running leopard 10.5.4 and 10gb of ram. I have been running the lightroom 2 beta since it came out and am now using the trial of the final shipping version.
I don't think I have ever been able to get lightroom to launch in 64 bit. As soon as I click the icon on the dock after setting it to 64 bit mode it crashes. Everything works fine in 32 bit mode but 64 will not start. I have tried deleting the peference files and it still won't launch. Has anyone else experienced something like this? I would like to buy lightroom once the trial ends, but I do not know what to do if I can not even get it running in 64 bit.
    I appreciate any help. Thanks.

I'm having the same problem. Opens fine on my MBPro but not on my Mac Pro tower. The strange thing is that LR2 is running in 64 bit mode on my MBPro, but, the "open in 32 bit mode" box is still checked. Flat-out will not open in 64 bit mode on my tower. I checked with tech support, but, they could only get it to open on my tower if I created a separate user log-in on my tower and then it would open in 64 bit mode under that "new" user. So, they reasoned it was a "user configuration" issue.

  • IDVD will not initialize in 64 bit mode

I upgraded to Snow Leopard and booted up in 64 bit mode. I just discovered that IDVD will not open in 64 bit mode. Rebooted in 32 bit mode IDVD works fine. Has anyone else has this problem or a similar problem with any APPLE apps in 64 bit mode. Is there a fix out there for this type of problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The current iDVD application is not 64-bit. In fact none of the iLife or iWorks applications have been converted to 64-bit. It's not likely they will be since there's a large user base that can only use the universal binaries. There isn't that much use for 64-bit booting at this time unless you are a developer creating 64-bit only applications.
This is not a problem for which a fix is even possible.

i received an error message "iTunes requires 64-bit mode" says to go into my iTunes application and 'uncheck' the 'open in 32-bit mode' checkbox - i went into the application and the box was not checked anyway so why am i getting this prompt?  Never happened before. yesterday did the sofware update for maverick.

Thank you for your response, Chris. But I'm afraid I have to disagree. There are native 64 bit versions of iTunes available for OSX and Windows.
In a 64 Bit Windows environment native 64 Bit Applications install the DLL's in a directory called "Program Files" and a directory called "Program Files (x86)" (32 Bit applications only use the ladder).
iTunes 9 is consistent with this behavior - and it identified itself to the system as a 64 bit application (meaning it's process appears without a "*32" tag on it).

  • Whitecap could not load in 64 bit mode error when opening iTunes. What do I do?

Upgraded to Lion recently. Opened iTunes and got a "Whitecap could not load in 64 bit mode". Tried to sync my iphone a few times but iTunes crashed. Managed to fix the problem by making iTunes run in 32bit mode only. My version of iTunes is 10.4 (80). Something is wrong here though as I thought this version is a 64 bit version.

there's a system library and each user has a library. have you ever installed something and the installer asked you if you wanted to install it for all users? it would put that in the system library. the way you installed this whitecap plugin for itunes as your user, my user can still log onto the same machine and not be affected by it. why did they hide the user's library folder? i guess they felt you wouldn't need to go in there and mess things up on accident. the other way to get to these "hidden" folders is by going to finder and clicking the Go menu then Go To Folder (Shift + Command + G). it's even tab completable, which is nice =)

  • "Open in 32-bit mode" not available

Two iMacs, (2.66GHz & 1.83GHz), both running 10.6.2. The GET INFO window for SAFARI on the older iMac does not show the checkbox with "Open in 32-bit mode" beside it - the newer iMac does. Other noticeable difference is "Open using Rosetta" is 'active' (available {but not selected]) on the older iMac (Rosetta is installed), whereas it is 'greyed out' on the newer machine (where "Open in 32-bit mode" is available).
It 'appears' as if, on the miscreant iMac, that Safari IS running in the 32 bit mode whereas iPassword 2 is working fine in Safari - that version of 1Password isn't suppose to work in the 64 bit mode. If this is the case, how do I get SAFARI back to the 64 bit mode.
    Thanks

    HI Jim,
Open your Activity Monitor application. (Applications/Utiities) and select My Processes from the pop up menu.
You can view which apps run in 32 or 64-bit mode under Kind on the right.
If you don't run Safari in 32 bit mode, Safari is likely to crash and freeze. So your iPassword 3rd party app should be ok.

  • Photoshop: "Open in 32-bit mode" not working on OS X/CS5

i have done all of the following and still it open in 64 bit mode. what to do? i need 32bit mode.
Select the Adobe Photoshop CS5 application file, installed by default in the Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS5 folder.
Choose File > Get Info, and select Open in 32 Bit Mode. (Deselect this option to run Photoshop CS5 in 64-bit mode)

Is this a Mac?  THere may not be a 32 bit version.

  • HT201432 Open in 32-bit mode not in "Get Info"

I don't see the option to "Open in 32-bit mode" in my "Get Info" window. How do I get that checkbox to appear?

Looks like that particular pref. pane was written for PowerPC machines - you'd have to be running Snow Leopard or earlier for it to work at all
You may want to switch to something that is still supported, like Onyx

  • ITunes will only open in 64 Bit Mode from Dock since Restore

I have only ONE big problem since doing a restore from my Time Machine backup-up for for Late 2009 iMac 27".  For some reason I can only get iTunes to open in 64 bit mode if I put an icon on the dock????  It opens in 32 bit mode which is selected in the Get Info - Command+I if I open it from the Finder (which is my preference due to my many 32 bit Visualizers....) but if I put a shorcut icon on the dock REGARDLESS of what my settinigs are in the finder it Always opens in 64 bit mode and tells me my visualizers can not be loaded... Which I am well aware of!   What I don't understand is why this has just happened since reformating and restoring from a time machine backup????  Everything else... at this point appears to be working just fine.   BUT if I open iTunes from the dock... 64 bit mode no questions asked.... opened from Applications in the finder and it grabs my 32 bit mode Prefs?    This is really irritating.  I have dumped caches, re-downloaded and installed iTunes.   Not sure what else to do???   Why is this ONLY happeningn if I put an iTunes link on the Dock?    Any help would be VERY MUCH appreciated.   Thanks.

    Frank -
Here's the latest.  I did the old standby of creating another Admin Account and the behaviour does not occur when logged into that account.  So it appears that the restore somehow screwed up settings on my current account.  I have indeed checked and there is no other copy of iTunes on my computer except for the DLoaded version of iTunes10.6 where I downloaded and tried to the re-install thing.
Of course still haven't heard back from Apple but I really wasn't expecting too this early.  I guess that my next step is to transfer to the user/shared folder and change permissions on each and every folder/preference and file to the new Admin account... until I find out which setting is causing the problem.   To so this is a pain in 'arse' would be an understatement.
Also found out that Preferences has the same behavior as iTunes.   64 bit ALWAYS unless checked during that specific login and NOT started from the dock....   Strange though... both seem to hold the 32 bit (for the session) if run from 'recent',  the Apple Menu, or the Finder???   As Alice would say "Curiouser and Curiouser"
My suggestion to ANYONE converting to LION (after this episode) is to back up and do a CLEAN install.   Obviously something from Leopard and Snow Leopard doesn't really like Lion that much.
I have been using computers since 1981 and Apples since OS 8  ... even had few dificulties with the OS X beta, but this one has me befuddled and somewhat irritated.  I have thousands of dollars worth of software that I really don't want to have to re-install, re-register, but that may be the only viable option at this point.

  • Safari 5.1.4 breaks Google products and I want to open in 32-bit mode

As we all know, the new Safari update (5.1.4) breaks everything Google: Gmail, Docs, etc. There is a workaround, but it's NOT A SOLUTION: unchecking "open in 32-bit mode." Because when I do that, guess what? Other websites start breaking — like that of my chosen financial institution, for starters. So I'm going back to 5.1.1 until there's an update that fixes this problem.
Unless, that is, one of you has a brilliant idea that hasn't yet been mentioned in this forum.
